I had the most delicious pizza. The base was tasty, thin and crispy and the crust was perfect. The toppings were fresh and also tasted amazing! I would have loved more toppings!

Absolutely delicious pizza! A warm and nice venue with friendly staff. The wine selection was great and the miso walnut cookies were AMAZING.

Not your conventional pizzeria. Pizzas here are a cut above , on another level . A craft pizza or artisan pizza if you like . Base was exceptional - ingredients fresh and high quality. Pepperoni pizza was the best my wife has had .

Delicious pizzas - so tasty. Our family tried margaritas (kids very impressed), chorizo pizza and goats cheese and fig pizza - all polished off and very much enjoyed! Would recommend!

D'alessandros is an absolute gem and the best place to eat (or take away) in Matlock. The pizzaria is run by two friends and sits nextdoor to friendly pub The Farmacy, and across the way the Newsroom where you can take your pizza to eat if the table is full. When you enter there is a lovely minimal aesthetic, warm lighting and peaceful music and a wall of organic wine to browse. The 12 inch pizza base is a sourdough made using organic ancient British grains, giving you the tastiest and most nutritious dough. The mozzarella is homemade, toppings are organic and local or supplied by nearby Pingle Produce in Wirksworth. The best pizza I have had anywhere!

Recently visited this restaurant and had a lovely time. The staff were so helpful with my daughter’s allergens and ensured everything was safe for her. It was a lovely atmosphere and the best pizzas we’ve had for a long time! We will definitely be back!

The best pizza ever with friendly stuffs!

Best pizza I ever had! Simple place where all they have is pizza, no brown food cooked in loads of oil, no extra menus, no flavourless ingredients. Just amazing pizza made with natural ingredients!

Really really delicious pizza. Best crust ever, I ate it all. Lovely toppings too! We ordered and they brought them into the pub next door where we were having a drink and we ate them in the pub.

Having read the reviews and then smelling the wood smoke in the venue, I was nervous about getting a burned pizza. I needn't have worried. We had a special with ham and chilli honey, and a pepperoni. The toppings were exquisite, even the tomato sauce light and aromatic, and the dough perfectly textured and satisfying to the bite. There was a distinct charred flavour too, but as a talisker drinker this only added to the complexity and the enjoyment. Also tried a cola from the Steep Soda Company, which was a delight! Recommended.

This is literally the best pizza! We come every week and sit in and every week we’re left amazed at how amazing this place is! It’s so good, when my fiancé was suffering with vertigo he still DEMANDED we HAD to still have a chorizo pizza!

If you’re in Matlock and you like pizza you absolutely MUST go here. The pizza is amazingly great - the wine selection is utterly fantastic - the staff are super friendly and the vibes, if you sit in, are totally splendid. We went for our wedding anniversary and had a cute couples time and next to us was a cute kid’s 8th birthday bash (so much margarita pizzas!) and loads of folks came in to get takeaway pizzas. It literally can do WHATEVER you want (so long as what you want to do involves amazing pizza.) Shame that after this we watched England lose to Spain in the Euros final but the top guys and top pizzas at D’alessandro’s had nothing to do with that. Oh, also, it was more than worth walking up that hill for.

Just moved to the area, the guys use local, organic ingredients (where possible). All our pizzas tasted fresh and unique. My 6 year old daughter ate her whole pizza (adult sized) and considering she only ever picked off her toppings at pizza express - I don’t think you can get a better endorsement!

Really tasty, fresh pizza. Good choice of toppings and easy to add additions. The Pepperoni and olive I had was YUM. I visited on my own and was made to feel so welcome I ate in at the little seating area and enjoyed a beer with my food. Thanks guys, I’ll be back next time in Matlock!

Loved the pizza here. So much so we had pizza Friday and Saturday night. Ate in the pub next door on Friday and had it taken away on the Saturday. Still had a pint whilst we were waiting though. Tried the pepperoni, chorizo, the one with sardines and the 4 cheese. All amazing.

It’s a year + 1 day that I randomly visited close to your vicinity and stumbled across this restaurant. I’m currently in Thailand and was telling some friends about it just yesterday. It’s that good. Managed to book the only table to dine in last weekend, and it felt like such being at our own private supper club, great experience sitting right next to the kitchen area and chatting to the owners! Delicious pizzas, with a great selection of toppings, all freshly made in front of your eyes. A real gem in Matlock, well worth the visit.

Cosy and welcoming, an ‘I couldn’t choose, too many deliscious pizza toppings to choose from situation’ a 5 min wait, with somewhere to sit and it tasted great, we took some pilsner to go to.

Great people. Great food. Please book in advance if you prefer to dine in as they have only one table available. It’s nice to have a hot pizza on a cold evening. Highly recommended.

We’ve become regular visitors to D’alessandros over the last 6 months or so. Having tried a lot of pizza in the local area, various places offering stone baked, or pizza oven style pizzas, I can confidently say these guys are probably the best between Derby and Matlock. What really stands out is the use of their own house made mozzarella and ingredients sourced locally as much as possible (you won’t get rubbish mass made ingredients here!). The dough is a really satisfying too, the sourdough gives it a great flavour and a perfect texture. All cooked in a wood fired oven, gives it a great rustic but consistent finish. Very friendly service from the guys, also serving some fantastic wines and craft cans too if you stay in (if not don’t worry they’ll deliver to the pub next door so you can eat there). Expect a wait at busy times - but trust me it’s worth it. If there was one thing I could wish for, it would be to have some mega tasty dips available to dunk crusts in (but maybe that’s the unrefined in me!) If you’re bag is cheap greasy Dominos pizza, this might not be for you. Either way you have to try it - especially if you’re walking you’ll deserve it by the time you reach the top of the hill!

The guys here really care about the quality of their pizzas. Their flour is milled locally from locally sourced grains and they make their own mozzarella cheese from milk from a local dairy farm. They use their own mature starter (4 years?) for the sourdough base which is cooked in a wood fired oven they designed and built themselves, and topped with tasty ingredients. You’d think it’d be expensive but it’s very reasonably priced. It’s a really cool little hangout; one big table and a picture window looking out from a beautiful old building across Matlock to the other side of the valley. You can have a glass of wine, or order a pizza and eat it in the microbrewery/pub next door. We ate in and enjoyed a chat with them, they’re really friendly. I’m really glad Matlock boasts a place like this, they add value to our town, you can’t benefit from that level of love from a multi national.

Order a pizza for pickup at a specific time. Turn up to collect. Not even started. have to wait while they cook it. Get it home. Undercooked. There's a Dominos downtown which is a lot cheaper too!!!! Sorry guys. Those are the facts.

Visited last night with friends; Great food, great beer, warm atmosphere and friendly staff. Will absolutely visit again.

Great venue for locals and travelers alike. Superb pizza with a genuine homemade flavour, this place is a real Matlock destination. Couple of seats to sit in, as well as the very cosy Farmacy next door who will accommodate you while waiting or eating, this is an absolute must. Sardine pizza is fire.

I called up and booked a table last minute on Saturday night for a meal with my family. They said they have only one small table so I was a little hesitant but when we arrived it was perfect for the 3 of us. The place was extremely busy so we were told there would be a 15min wait for pizzas but when they arrived they were some of the best we have ever had and the staff were attentive and friendly recommending us a nice bottle of Riesling to share whilst we waited. Next time we are in the area we will go back.

I walked in today and simply asked, 'Do you have a menu'? The answer.. He pointed at the wall and said, "take a photograph' I walked out, and took with me all of the potential future business, that could well have been yours. 1 tell 5, 5 tell 5, 25 tell 5...... compound negativity. Marketing clearly isn't your strong point. Because of some laid back dude sitting there folding boxes with an 'I couldn't care less attitude' we will never use this place. First impressions mean everything. You only have 5 TripAdvisor reviews, this is your 6th. As a percentage, this is quite damming. Sort your staff out, or was that an owner? If it was, you won't last long with that attitude.

The pizzas blew us away and I’m not even a pizza aficionado! The dough is incredible, you could eat it on its own and by the time its decked out with the highest quality toppings you could dream of, these pizzas are divine. A simple pleasure but oh so good. Awesome. Just go!

Literally the best pizza and vibes you can find anywhere in the area… order a pizza, go sit in the neighboring pub and have a pint while waiting, then grab your pizza and dig in. You can also call ahead and order for pickup or sit in if the table inside is free (or you can book the table in advance if you’re cool). Plus the guys that run it are spectacular and lovely and so talented. Matlock wouldn’t be the same without them! Alsoooo the wine selection is banging… Do not skip this place!!!!

Gorgeous pizza in a lovely atmosphere plus great tunes as added bonus. They use ingredients from their allotment and stone milled organic grains for their dough which is so tasty even on its own. I had fig and goats cheese, can't express how delicious it is. There's a wide selection of organic wine to sip while you wait. Me and my friends had a great time! (Also the rye chocolate cookies are like heaven).

Maybe it was an off day. I love that places like this exist and try to combat the Dominoes of the UK, but I think they are trying to be authentic and pull off the traditional Neapolitan pizza - rather than actually achieving it. We drove 30 minutes to Matlock, spent £60 on 4 pizza & 4 drinks, the guys were friendly but the pizzas were bad. The overwhelming burnt bitterness on all our pizzas was hard to ignore, I tried to tell myself a few times that ‘it’s traditional’ - ‘it’s the style’ but it was just bad. The toppings lacked flavour, and our hearts sank as all just stopped eating and got a takeaway box. I hope this just motivates the chef to regulate the oven temperatures properly and get it right. I think a bit more salt is needed in the dough and the tomatoes on the toppings didn’t taste premium enough to be called a Neapolitan pizza. The crust was thick and tasted a bit uncooked in places. Clearly, your pizza experience here might be different to ours, if it was cooked different to ours we might have just said ‘bit bland’ but ok. Clearly the oven stone was too hot. I might return, but not for a while. I’ll give them the chance to up their pizza game a bit.

We were staying in a nearby town a really fancied pizza, so made the trip to Matlock to get pizza from D’alessandro’s and it was fantastic! The dough was so soft and lovely, and the garlic bread was so garlicky (just how I like it). My partner had the chorizo pizza and he was very pleased. I was initially given the wrong order (which I didn’t mind and was going to eat anyway) and the chef came and found us at a local pub to bring the correct order free of charge. So on top of lush pizza, the service is also brilliant! Well worth the half hour drive, and I’d do it again any day.

Best Neapolitan Pizza in Derbyshire. You can feel that all the ingredients are super fresh, and owners are putting their hearts into every slice. A hidden gem, however is the bread. It's sold only on Saturday but it's amazing every time.

I should state that a combination or my Campanian origins and the opening hours of this local eatery have until now deterred me from eating here. The pizzeria has an authentic oven but its limited opening hours cater to the weekend drinking crowd. And I had misgivings about any pizzeria which is geared around soaking up excess alcohol. But a couple of friends said that the pizzas are actually quite good. So I bit the bullet, or the crust. First the base. Clearly artisinal and the crusts were pleasantly fluffy with a good chew. So far so good. I know the bread is meant to be the star event, but despite my genes I generally judge a pizza on its ability to convey toppings into my mouth as cleanly and crisply as possible, while I leave the crusts on the side of the plate. And sadly that was this pizza's downfall. Ordinarily there is only one pizza choice for me, the napoli, with anchovies and capers. But as this choice wasn't available, I had to select from the repertoire of experimental toppings. And possibly I chose badly. I chose the veggie special with mushrooms, asparagus and sorrel. It looked spectacular but the combination of the mushrooms and the asparagus seemed to leak a lot of water, resulting in a soft, soggy base which had to be rolled up like a spring roll to prevent disintegration. And the seasoning was a little light, forcing me to crack open a can of anchovies (not good with the mushrooms) and try loading it up with gran padano, before eventually accepting defeat. Maybe another topping would have been a better option.
