Butter Fingers Bakery in Derbyshire Dales

This was our second visit to Butter Fingers and both times have been brilliant! We were lucky to get a table as it is very popular. On our last visit they had sold out of their raspberry and white chocolate cake so I was delighted to see they had some on this visit. I certainly wasn’t disappointed! The cake was deliciously fresh and tasty and I had a Nutella milkshake too which was equally tasty. My partner had a pumpkin spice latte and a kinder blondie which he was very happy with too. We will be back! 😊

Wow what a find. Excellent food and the best coffee shop in Matlock. Very small so we can’t always get seating inside but there are a few tables outside also. Dog friendly. Highly recommend a visit here.

This cafe is an absolute gem! Fellow coeliac, you can have a delicious lunch, cake and coffee here safely, and your fellow-diners will love it too! The service is relaxed and friendly, the atmosphere congenial. It's obviously loved by locals as well as visitors like us. Really can't recommend it highly enough.

Visited last year and really enjoyed the food here...lovely Welsh Rarebit but today was a very disappointing experience. Lovely coffees but my mushrooms on toast were very bland, no spread on the toast so all in all very dry. My husband's posh beans on toast were tasteless too... not sure how that is possible when chorizo is in ther recipe. Hate to leave such a poor review for this cafes as it serves lovely cakes and clearly is a very popular place.

We always park in the Dale Road car park and walk into Matlock. We had passed this on several occasions and decided to pop in and try it. It’s now our first stop when going to Matlock. The food is very, very good and the staff are lovely. Great place for coffee and breakfast. This time I had porridge with peanut butter and banana. Very reasonable prices for such great food and drinks.

Lovely coffee shop and a bakery. Great selection of freshly made cakes, cookies and other sweets. Large section of tea with different flavors. The coffee was good and the service was lovely. Definitely worth making a stop and recharge.

Absolutely beautiful small cafe, excellent value for money, friendly laid back staff, fresh food, lovely homemade bakes, it really is a nice relaxing atmosphere inside, my favourite cafe.

The best place I’ve been to in Matlock by far!! The service was amazing, James was so lovely and my hot chocolate and chocolate orange brownie was 1000/10! If you’re ever in Matlock, do yourself a favour and visit butter fingers, such a lovely cafe and dog friendly too!

Not been here before. It was a cold day went in to the cafe fir a hit drink and could not resist the beautiful cake that was displayed. Choice was tremendous. A place not to miss if your in Matlock. Service was great.

At her suggestion, a friend and I met for lunch here and I couldn’t believe that I’d never popped in before. I had a freshly prepared and exceptionally tasty ham, egg & avocado salad with home-made coleslaw and my friend had the mezze salad with olives, peppers etc. Portion sizes were large and quality was tip top. I’d previously heard that the coffee at Butter Fingers is the best in Matlock and couldn’t agree more (I managed two cups!). The cafe is small and was extremely busy at the time of our visit which, inevitably, led to a wait for food and drinks. This is just an observation, certainly not a complaint, but it’s something to consider if time constraints are a factor. Overall, we had a really lovely lunch at an incredibly reasonable price and I’ll definitely be going back. Fabulous!

We had a lovely homemade cake and a good pot of tea. Very tasty and fresh. The colleagues were very friendly and welcoming. We were also able to park very close by.

Visited with friends for lunch, excellent service and food with so many delicious cakes to choose .looking forward to visiting again soon .

A small café tucked away in the streets of Matlock serving coffee and lovely baked treats. We had the carrot cake, a cappuccino and the mini Victoria cake. The baked goods were fresh and so cute! The micro flowers were a lovely touch and crumb was tender and moist. The cafe itself was decorated beautifully and made for lovely pictures!

The food is ok but we have stopped going as the service is rarely delivered with a smile. The staff seem quite cold and there is no atmosphere.

We booked afternoon tea for a birthday treat. They were really accommodating as 1 of our children is a fussy eater. There was a great selection of sandwiches and cakes, together with freshly baked scones. I would highly recommend this cafe.

Pleased we found this little gem. Excellent quality food. Great to find somewhere that uses good quality, doorstop style bread. Homemade cakes are delicious, wonderful coffee & thick, creamy hot chocolate. Would definitely return & highly recommend.

Such a gorgeous coffee shop! We’ve just moved to the area and already been in 4 times, taking friends and family with us! The cakes here are absolutely delicious, my dad said it’s the best cake he’s ever had.. and he’s had many! There’s always such an amazing selection to choose from! We also had the Brie & chutney ciabatta which was really nice and couldn’t resist the super yummy Nutella milkshake! It’s really dog friendly and always busy, which shows you it’s the top spot with the locals! Can’t wait to come back in soon! ⭐️🫶🏻☕️

Great little cafe. Where James will make you a top cup of coffee & Poppy will knock you up a great sandwich. These are thoroughly nice people who I first came across when Peli Deli on Crown Square was the best cafe in town. The owner too is ex-Peli. BF clearly has a bunch of regular customers who appreciate the place & it’s people too. The decor is thoughtfully done & the music is up my street too, on a good system, but not loud enough to be intrusive if it’s not your thing.

Friendly staff Lovely coffee Plum ginger cake is amazing and pumpkin spice cake really tasty too though the icing was quite sweet. Highly recommended.

UPDATE! Still the best coffee in Matlock. Friendly. Great cakes. We visit most weeks at some time. We have been coming here for years now and could not wish for a better coffee and cake stop.

Fabulous cafe - Amazing choice of cakes, cookies, traybakes etc. We opted for a slice of Raspberry & pistachio cake and Ginger and caramel cake - both absolutely delicious. The tea was also great & luckily for us - they sold the loose leaf tea too, so went home with a packet of that as well. Great service - thank you.

Considering the lady serving was on her own and the cafe was getting busier she did a stellar job, the coffee was lovely as was the cake.

What a gem! Great food, lovely choice of drinks, and amazing cakes. Below you can see carrot and coriander soup, stilton, pear and walnut with balsamic sauce salad and oat latte.

Where do I start?! This little cafe was such a wonderful find for me, my husband and our dog. It is so refreshing to visit a cafe that is so welcoming to humans and their dogs. We sat at a table just inside and found a jar of dog treats. Our dog enjoyed the treats with a little bit of whipped cream from my husband’s milkshake. I ordered the berry smoothie and it was so tasty. We both decided to order the ploughman’s for £15. When it was served to our table we were amazed with all of the quality foods that were on the plates. My favourite was the ham, fresh bread, boiled egg and the slices of apple. We had room for one of the delicious homemade sweet treats, I had the Rolo brownie which was soft and chewy with lots of chocolate and caramel, 10/10! We will definitely be regular customers from now onwards and have already recommended Butterfingers to our family and friends.

Found this cafe on the map and was intrigued by its name, after a quick view of the reviews we saw that it was well reviewed and worth a shot. We had a lovely hot drink each and a piece of amazing cake! It was so delicious we wanted to take some away with us as well. The staff here were also wonderful! If you fancy a sweet treat, this is the place to go.

Hungry? In Matlock? Get along to Butter Fingers cafe for a refill. 4 of us visited Matlock and ate here. Skyscraper /doorstop sandwiches thick fresh soup with friendly service. You can take your child and/ or your dog. I had avocado on sourdough toast, mates had soup mmm and turkey sandwich. What a find. In the high street close to shops a real local gem.

We originally went in just for coffee and cake but were so impressed stayed for lunch. We were not disappointed, my husband having a tasty goats cheese salad and myself enjoying a delicious quiche. As for the cakes,well, all I can say is "worth breaking your diet for"!! The staff were very pleasant and friendly but at the same time being highly efficient. The cafe was clean and had a warm pleasing ambience. Would definitely have no hesitancy in recommending, thank you Butter Fingers for such a delightful service.

We were dithering outside but some ladies coming out assured us we should go in, and they were right! The cake display was absolutely fabulous, and they were as good as they looked. Service could have been warmer and the decaff tea stronger, but lovely anyway.

Had never been until today & we both loved it. Àll the specials sounded lovely , picked the Goats Cheese, Sweet Potato & Beetroot Quiche which was delicious , coffee great , all the cakes looked good , staff are lovely .. very dog friendly too ..Our golden Retriever was given treats & made friends with another Retriever ..A really lovely clean , friendly place serving tasty food you want to eat .

We had lunch at Butter Fingers today, we had filled ciabattas with salad and coleslaw and a pot of tea each - all delicious. Homemade tasty coleslaw, extra freshly made salad and perfectly toasted ciabattas with generous fillings. And the tea is leaf and properly strong. Can't recommend this cafe enough, will definitely return.

Wow, came here for the first time today, it is a lovely friendly well presented and decorated place, we had the Wensleydale, caramelised onion, chutney quiche, this is made with a sweet potato base, came with a lovely fresh side salad, all I can say is wow, it was delicious. Been a few times now and it never disappoints, the food is always lovely and the selection of homemade cakes is to die for, staff are very friendly 😋

By chance we came upon this lovely Café. The cakes were MANY! We chose a blueberry cake and ginger caramel. Heaven with each bite. Excellent pot of tea served in beautiful stoneware. Lovely staff. Will definitely return again. Highly recommend this hidden gem.

Was back in the Matlock area. First things first. Straight to butter fingers. Great food and cakes and coffee. Really fancied the lunch special too! (Roasted beetroot, goats cheese, courgette ciabatta) but we were there way toooo early.

Gorgeous cakes and drinks here. I had the birthday cake tea which is a beautiful twist on a classic black tea. It got so busy at lunch time but they dealt with it beautifully, nobody was waiting a long time and they were cheerful even during the madness!

Stumbled across this little gem of a coffee shop, on a brief stop in Matlock. Excellent freshly made Flat White and struggled to decide on the cakes, there were so many good looking ones, but my wife was in Battenberg heaven.

Excellent cafe...wonderful lunch..with excellent salad on the side, and the cakes are homemade, there at the shop..excellent choice of drinks. Treat yourself to afternoon tea. This is a hidden gem. We loved it.

Only just found this little cafe through TA, but we will be using it on our weekly visits to Matlock in the future! We both had the sandwiches from the specials board and a mince pie afterwards - all delicious and the coffee was excellent...

I would usually moan if an establishment North of Leicester offered me anything other than Yorkshire tea, but I enjoyed the loose leaf tea immensely and will be returning to butter fingers to indulge again with a lovely tray bake. My daughters both loved their babychinos and my husband highly rated his cappuccino... although after smelling my tea he had drink envy

It's a while since we last went to Matlock before toady, so I can't say how long Butter Fingers has been there; but we hadn't noticed it before, so I'll assume it is quite new. It certainly looks new - clean colours and cheerful decor....

Friendly, coffee not bad. Cakes too sweet and not enough finesse for my taste.

Tucked away on the edge of Matlock, this characterful little café serves excellent coffee and a superb selection of home made cakes. My cappuccino was a delight! An antidote to the blandness of the likes of Costa. I can't recommend Butter Fingers highly enough.

Butterfingers is mine, my families and my group of friends favourite place to go for great cake and coffee! We’ve had Al’s cakes for celebrations too and she never fails to deliver a beautiful and delicious cake whatever we order! Alex and James are a great team! I recommend Al’s cookie cups or blondies… amazing!!

Popped in for coffee and cake whilst our son was kayaking. Delicious cakes (so good that we picked up 3 more on our way past for the son, daughter and her boyfriend....well...?!) and fantastic coffee. Good service, keenly priced and a nice location. What's not to like?!

Great place to come for a cuppa and a cake or two. Limited spaces due to covid but very well presented with seating outside. The staff are very hospitable and friendly, the atmosphere is pleasant with chilled music in the background. Cakes are delicious, I would be a regular if I didn't live so far away. The average price of cake/portion is around £2.30.

Went to Matkock and found this really lovely cafe...lovely friendly service and great sandwiches...hot chocolate and tea tried also really lovely place!! Reccomend

Customers treated like friends and lovely relaxed atmosphere. My granddaughters personal favourite was the banana milkshake. The cake selection is amazing.
