Lovey Italian in Matlock - great menu choice and lovely food. Selection of pizzas, pasta, steaks, risotto and salads. The Tiramisu was also one of the best we’ve had. Highly recommended

Went in about 2pm on a Thursday so it was quiet. Only a small place but had a wonderful, welcoming staff, quick service and the pizza was served fast, got and was delicious.

£12 for a margarita and £12 for a meat feast ? Alarm bells should have rung then when most pizza's are the same price . I am unsure who has put good reviews on for this place but the pizzas are the worst we have ever had ! Definitely not fresh pizza ! Had to bank transfer £29 for 2x £12 pizza and 1x£4 fries, clearly their maths isn't too good either. I would rather eat dry bread than eat this frozen rubbish.. we waited about half an hour and was not told there would be a wait, husband had gone the fish and chip shop round the corner and eaten his before we had even got ours, whole experience was just awful.

We booked a table in the bar for three of us and our two little dogs but due to the glorious weather we dined at table 64 in the Courtyard. We visited as the third part of our trying out the Rob at Longbow trio of offerings at the Ashford Arms, The Maynard and The George. All three offer different but extensive menus though Wine list is common to all which was a bonus as we are fans of Rob’s recommendations. My only plea is to add at least a bottled Wheat beer to the drinks range. Firstly, it was much appreciated that smoking and non smoking were kept a reasonable distance apart so that non smokers are able to avail of outdoor dining. Also, table 64 was ideal for our Dandies to shelter from the strong sun and heat. We were extremely well looked after by the staff and primarily by Alice who ensured we had a high quality experience and that all food was as it should be. She was extremely knowledgeable about what should be on each plate and quickly spotted two omissions on my Lebanese Spiced Lamb ballotine which turned out to be absolutely delicious though not sure why the half pitta is served underneath it rather than alongside. The Katsu Chicken Curry and Mushroom&Oat Burger were equally delicious. A very good range of starters from which we had Sweet and Sour Prawns, Cured Sea Trout and Korean flavoured Scotch Egg - all well presented and very tasty with the standout being the Scotch Egg. We shared the cheese and a Grapefruit Tart. I would have liked the tart to have a more grapefruit flavour but apart from that it was lovely. In our view The George was well up there with the Ashford Arms on food, service and environment and we will certainly be back to both regularly. Staying in Buxton for a few days and wanted a nice restaurant to eat in. We hadn’t booked but this wasn’t an issue. Friendly, pleasant staff, nice atmosphere, good menu and the restaurant was spotlessly clean. The meals were freshly cooked, lovely and hot and really tasty. Excellent value for money too, we would definitely recommend!

After travelling 25 minutes to get my daughter a waffle, I dropped her outside with plenty of time before closing time, I parked across the road near the food cabin so could see her, two in front both served, she waited in the queue for 9 minutes just to be turned away at 4 minutes past 7! Rude and the last time I’ll be spending money there. Since the new owners have taken over it’s not the same, how hard would it have been to use some emotional intelligence and shut the door and serve the people in the queue from before your shutting time.

Ordered a Pizza Pescatore. It was proper home-made pizza. Excellent dough. Delicious. The menu has a range of pizzas with a good selection of toppings.

We really enjoyed the delicious sea bass with linguine and pork loin with red cabbage and potatoes. A side dish of seasonal greens was a perfect extra. Many thanks for an excellent meal.
