Staying in Buxton for a few days and wanted a nice restaurant to eat in. We hadn’t booked but this wasn’t an issue. Friendly, pleasant staff, nice atmosphere, good menu and the restaurant was spotlessly clean. The meals were freshly cooked, lovely and hot and really tasty. Excellent value for money too, we would definitely recommend!

We liked the atmosphere here, it's a pleasant cosy restaurant with good service. Nothing was missed. We had fritto misto and pollo pancake to start, both good, pancake in a nice sauce. Then chicken risotto and pork chop saltimbocca in marsalla sauce with roast veg and potatoes, again very good, roast veg was onion, courgette, tomatoes and spuds all done in a little dish. Finished off with sweets and a double espresso. We took our own wine and paid corkage. Really nice meal. We were in at 6.30 and were the only ones there, another couple arrived at 7.00 followed by parties of three and six. It was a wet December 30th. Definitely come again.

This was my first time visiting Michelangelos and I was blown away with the service. Friendly staff who were attentive throughout the whole restaurant, you really couldn't ask for better. It was steak night and we ordered the steak and wine deal from the specials menu. The food came quick and it was fantastic. I've paid much more elsewhere and didn't compare to Michelangelos. Thank you so much and I will definitely be visiting again soon. :)

We stayed here for a weekend with friends and absolutely loved it. The staff were brilliant & friendly, the prices are great. The hotel facilities were just what we needed and the food was lovely. I highly recommend the hotel/ restaurant and bar. Thank you for a wonderful stay, we will definitely be back!

Managed to book a table here last night after our Fringe performance at the Green Man gallery round the corner. The restaurant looks inviting from the outside and people were praising the food upon leaving. It did not disappoint. Friendly staff, good choice of dishes with specials on the board including homemade cocktails too. The interior is warm, inviting and tastefully decorated with comfortable dining chairs - why do more restaurants not pay attention to this? The food was excellent, piping hot and flavoursome. We all enjoyed our courses very much and enthused to the waiting staff and owners. I got the impression this is a family business with the family all working together to make a success of their restaurant. After last night I can honestly say that they are succeeding. We will definitely return. If you are in Buxton seek out this lovely restaurant.

Dave and Leanne along with their great staff always make us welcome. The food is always amazing and we often go to Michael Angelos when we go out for a meal. The fillet steaks are always amazing and Dave special sauce compliments it to perfection. We will return.

We ordered pizza - what arrived was a flattened house brick with no colour on the base. It was tasteless, uninspiring and should not in any sense have been described as pizza. We fully appreciate that the wheels, on occasion, fall off but its how you then deal, professionally, to provide a remedy. The managers response was equally disappointing. I'm very proud of my Italian ancestry, having lived and travelled extensively in Italy so when you're a chef talking to another chef and you categorically state its the worst pizza you have ever been served you anticipate a better attitude and a better comment than "we've been serving this for 28 years" This in no way justified what left their kitchen. All the Italians I know would rather have 'snapped pasta to cook it' than allow that dish to leave the pass. If you're Iooking to order pizza, from here, you'd be better to pick up something frozen from Aldi. On the upside, the service from the waitress' was excellent. The wine, red and white were both good. The chef/ manager's approach, however, matched the 'pizza' and the atmosphere - unnecessary and sadly lacking. I still can't quite believe that my dish was so bad I had no other alternative than to send it back!! I live in Buxton and will not be returning.

Great little Italian restaurant. Friendly service, with a nice atmosphere. We called in without booking at 5:30pm on a Friday night. Food was great.

Me and my husband stayed in Buxton for a night, that too a very snowy one! Naturally we were craving something warm. We walked into this lovely place reluctantly a little before 9pm, hoping they weren’t near the closing time but were pleasantly greeted by Lauren and quickly seated. It was a very cozy place with the best ambiance! Lauren took us order and helped us pick the dishes to our liking. We ordered Salmone Rotolato as our appetiser and it were the most amazing thing we had tasted in quite a long while. For our main course I ordered Spaghetti Con Gamberetti e Rucola (they kindly agreed to make it extra creamy) and My husband ordered a pizza with toppings of his liking (prawn and tuna). Both were outstanding! After quite a long time we enjoyed a dinner this scrumptious. By the time we were finishing up with our main course we noticed that we were the only ones sitting. Both Lauren and Rhys were super efficient and really good at their work, and didn’t get the teensy bit fidgety about us finishing quickly. Infact, after we were done with our mains, Rhys very kindly offered to bring us dessert: Caramel Cheese cake! Which was heavenly! (To say the least) At the end the chef came out to greet us goodnight. Overall it was an outstanding experience and would recommend this eatery 10/10 to everyone visiting Buxton!

The service at michlengealos is incredible and the service is even better !! Upon arrival at michlengioles, i was greeted with a large amount of complimentary mints and a gorgeous valentine’s day firework-resembling display piece YAY lol Speedy service and scrummy food. Well done Michalangalalos

Delicious food, but my husband's starter was brought out 10 minutes before mine. I asked the waitress a question about one or two of the mains but she didn't know the answer and walked away, instead of going to find someone who could help. The waiter attempted to take my husband's plate away when he clearly hadn't finished. Just basic etiquette really. Apart from that, the lack of choice of pasta types, I personally would have preferred tagliatelle or linguine as an option to the mostly spaghetti or penne pasta. However the sauces were delicious and the desserts were outstanding!

Lovely food, lovely atmosphere, lovely staff. Very happy to visit this restaurant, purely by chance walking along the high St. Will definitely visit again when I'm next in Buxton.

This restaurant looks a bit dated and slightly tired when you enter. We were welcomed nicely and impressed at the extensive menu. The portions were generous and all very nicely and freshly cooked (in the kitchen that you could see off the dining area). The spare ribs starter was particular huge, and the piping hot chicken pancake (so called "crespelle") tasty, but neither very authentically "Italian". The Calamari was nicely done, as was the Sirloin Steak; this was meant to be served with a rocket and tomato salad - but there was no rocket. The restaurant did serve a couple of Italian bottled beers and very palatable house wine (reminiscent of "sfuso"). An enjoyable meal, but nothing particularly special; nevertheless, we would return.

I have eaten at Michael Angelos at least 20 times over the last few years and have only once had a bad experience which was down to new waiting staff.The food is good and what I would expect at the price - around £8 for a pizza or pasta dish as of 2011. The service is normally efficient and friendly and the price for a two course meal with drinks generally works out at around £15-20 a head (or you can take your own wine and save a bit more money).You're not going to get the best food you've every eaten here (if you want that go to Fischers at Baslow and pay £90 a head) - but if you want a fairly cheap meal out in a relaxed atmosphere Michael Angelos is hard to beat in Buxton.

we went in for the happyhour and brought our own wine,for a small charge,cant actually remember how much it was,but if it was alot i would have remembered..we went in with the kids on thursday about 6.15pm the place was already filling up and people were going upstairs too,which to me is a good sign as the waitresses seemed to know the customers. We only ordered garlic bread and pizzas and was all fine,didnt fancy the ham on the pizza as i had read a review that it looked or tasted of spam, my daughter had a mushroom and ham and to be fair it did look like a cheap processed spam,apart from that it was all good..strange because i have read most of the reviews to restaurants i go to,and this place has had some terrible ones. We wernt expecting too much butif you want a cheap quick family meal i would go here rather than a pub. Will try again.

I dined at Michael angelos with my partner and friends. The ham on the pizza was awful, it disintegrated into a powder when eaten...the pasta carbonara was literally pasta with cream poured on which again had the awful ham. We went to Michaelangelo's and were both extremely dissapointed. The pizza's were disgusting, there was no fresh ingredients at all! Went for a meal with my girlfriend and we ordered seafood pizza and a calzone. The seafood pizza was disgusting it had fish sticks and canned tuna and I hate to think where the squid and muscles were sourced my guess is that they were frozen, easily the worst seafood I've seen served in a restaurant! The ham in the calzone was the type bought in a can and tasted aweful, hardly any pepperoni and the tomato sauce was just tinned tomatoes! Overall the worst restaurant in Buxton by a mile!We complained and the chef came out who is also the owner and said that we were wring and that his food was good, which it drfinately isn't! If it's it's Itallian you want Firenze is the place to go, a million times better!!

Lovely food as always but service terrible asked if we wanted a drink when we arrived that was it .starter and mains served and were nice been coming here for several years my special place however 45 mins later still waiting for desert menu staff didn't seem interested at all , to busy talking to each other at bar this was my favourite place to eat i'n Buxton that's why we went for valentines meal - never again !!!

We visited Michelangelos prior to visiting Buxton Opera House which is very close by. We found the whole experience excellent. Great, friendly service, lovely simple food and best of all great value. we didn't realise until we got the bill that it had been "happy hour" so were pleasantly surprised.

This is a cracking restaurant that offers a friendly service whether you are travelling or a local you get the same treatment. The head Chef always tries to get out to greet his customers time permitting and the kitchen can always be seen to be working hard. The waitresses and waiter are all very polite and work hard top deliver at the fastest speed.The menu is quite varied and the steaks are excellent and very expertly cooked. From starter to aperitif the whole experience is well supplied and the cost is considerably lower than most Italian restaurants in the area.p.s. Don't forget you can also take your own wine and with that you receive a very moderate corkage charge.I would certainly recommend this restaurant without hesitation as it never lets me down when I dine there.

We turned up for the 2 courses for £8.95 deal. It was very quiet, but people turned up later. The starters were average at best. The pizzas however, were truly dreadful! The base was thick, spongey and very soggy, like white bread. The toppings were of the cheapest kind. It was was very lacking in flavour. I hardly ate mine. It was the worst pizza I've ever eaten and that includes takeaways and the cheapest shop bought pizza. I reckon I could make a better pizza blindfolded. Honestly atrocious. On the positive side, the service was quite good. However AVOID Pizza Express is a World better!

Michelangelo's offers a great selection of food at very reasonable prices. The restaurant seats around 40 people and whenever we looked in before we decided to eat there it was always busy - a good sign. However, the two staff were worked off their feet serving food and drinks, preparing coffees and sweets and taking payments, so service was slow. They also ran out of most sweets the evening we were there as they had been unexpextedly busy over the weekend. Drinks were very reasonably priced compared to most restaurants.

On a short break in Buxton and let down by our hotel we needed to find somewhere for a meal on a Saturday night without having booked and were lucky enough to get a table here. They had a last table for two left and were very apologetic that it was by the door but not a problem for us. The décor was easy on the eye with a good atmosphere and the right level of background music which happened to match our own taste. The staff were all friendly, welcoming and with the right measure of chat.The Italian menu had plenty of choice, a good range of starters which included salads and a number of different breads. Main course as you would expect featured pasta & pizza plus a range of meat, chicken & fish dishes. Veggies well catered for. The prices were reasonable including the drinks, their recommended wine went down a treat and was only £10.95 a bottle. A pleasure to find a restaurant that does not take the mickey on their drinks prices. Our meal was excellent, hot food on hot plates and obviously freshly made but without undue waiting. We have no hesitation in recommending this restaurant.
