Two breakfasts and a pizza evening here, bread and all the produce was delicious. They get very busy first thing with the youth hostel and locals rushing in but they handle it very well. Lovely spot in the Peaks.

We have been to Youlgreave before and know that the fountain bakery is the place for good coffee and cake. The bread which is baked in the premises is amazing if you can get some as it goes very fast. Really dog friendly. We visited twice and each time we were not disappointed

Thank you Fountain View Bakery, Matthew & Alex for your fabulous pizzas last night (plus excellent antipasti - where did that delicious cured meat come from - and homemade tiramisu), and to Connie for looking after everyone. What a great inaugural pizza night Colin. Looking forward to the next one. Your pizzas very well may be the best in Derbyshire ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Good quality ingredients, but a shambolic and disappointing experience. We were first there bang on 9am, ordered two hot drinks and 2 simple breakfast dishes. It was not busy. We had to wait a few minutes whilst they finished a staff meeting with 5 or 6 staff involved. The tea and coffee took 16 minutes to get to our table. Bear in mind there were only 2 other couples who had ordered. The 2 simple breakfast items took 31 minutes to reach the table. If there were 5+ staff in there, and only 6 customers in the first half hour, how on earth can it take so long to put simple dishes from a very narrow breakfast menu on the table? The fried egg and tomatoes were burnt. Two eggs ordered on two pieces of sourdough came with just one piece of sourdough. I had read several good reviews, and had high hopes. But it was a complete shambles. And good quality ingredients that took ages to get to the table were basically ruined by a not competent cook. Must have hit them on a bad day, but the other couples sat outside in the sun who also waited 30+ minutes for food on a very quiet morning were also looking at watches and huffing and tutting. I just hope the people who run this place can reflect on this feedback which is intended to help them iron out shambles and raise their game. It could and should be so much better.

We were staying in the town and so decided to pop in for breakfast. An excellent selection on the menu. 3 of us had a full breakfast, 1 being veggie. They were excellent. My daughter opted for pastries - freshly baked and generous in size. We have since popped back in regularly to buy bread. Friendly service at all times! Would definitely recommend! It seems well-supported by the locals which in itself is a mark of recommendation. Open Wednesday to Sunday only - 9am -2pm.

Lovely place and the staff and owner are very welcoming. We can recommend the coffee and the food. We had a bacon cob and a sausage cob and both were large and tasty. What makes this place even more perfect for us is that dogs are welcome inside. A new ho to place for us when we are in the area.

Just had breakfast here. A sausage and egg bap - the best breakfast I've had out in a long time. And the coffee is amazing! Beautiful inside, airy and light, with plenty of seats outside too. Don't miss this place if you're in Youlgreave!

While staying less than 100 metres away in the Barn @ the Old Bakery cottage for a week we went the Fountain View Bakery (cafe) 4 or 5 times - sometimes just for excellent coffee (flat whites - just like home back in Australia) and/or breakfast on two occasions… note - the French Toast special is excellent as was the granola - and more British cafes for breakfast should also offer alternatives to the wide variety - but basically still the same - traditional cooked breakfasts. We have been travelling for 3 months - mostly in Britain - driving around and staying in cottages. Just about every day we would track down a cafe at the location (or on the way to/from) we planned to visit - checking reviews and locations online the night before. We both agreed that the flat white coffees we had during the last week were the best we have had since we left home - and commented to the two excellent ladies running the Fountain View Bakery just how good it was… each and every time. We are from a famous regional tourist town/region renowned for the large number of high quality cafes & their coffees/food back in Australia - a country where the coffee/cafe culture is huge. We were very also impressed by the excellent, friendly and efficient service, the heritage building itself - its own history, the fountains history and Britain’s smallest detached house on the corner opposite - the quality of the restoration and decor inside. It was a nice environment to either sit outside when the sun is shining or be nice and comfortable inside when it is raining and/or you have just finished a long, wet and muddy hike. The only downside was that the Fountain View Bakery (cafe) is closed Monday & Tuesday so we had to find another cafe on those days.

Had the most delicious breakfast here with family for father’s Day and then we got sausage rolls, sandwiches and cakes to take away for our picnic lunch. It was such a treat! The food was amazing and such a lovely place too. They have in door seating and outdoor seating too. All the staff are really friendly. Can’t wait to go back.

My family and I stayed in the hostel above the cafe for half term. We had an amazing stay and the most delicious breakfasts in the cafe. The Full English and Granola were standouts and the children haven't stopped talking about the pastries! They also do takeaway sandwiches on homemade bread which were perfect for our picnic at the nearby river. We couldn't resist buying a couple of loaves of sourdough to bring back home with us. Just wish we lived nearby so we could fo go all the time. Well worth a visit!

Staying in Matlock, read the reviews and booked in for ‘Pie Night’. We were glad we did. Firstly it’s a proper pub serving food, not some pseudo bistro. We had the Christmas Pie special and a steak and ale pie. Both were great, as they claimed on the menu, they were ‘proper pies’ not a stew with bit of pastry on top. Both were beyond generously filled with tasty ingredients and packed with meat. My wife ranked the Xmas offering as her #1 Pie of all time, I loved my Steak pie but regret not ordering it too. Turkey, pigs in blankets, stuffing all in a pie! If it’s on offer when you go, grab it! Chips were great, gravy was tasty and I love a mushy pea! Portion was massive. I’d go back in a heartbeat. Good job.

Great trip out, plenty of information given out on the tour. Worth a look in if you're in Buxton. There are great walks directly outside for a full activity day.
