Genuine country pubs like the Blacksmiths Arm in Everton are a rare thing these days. Great atmosphere, food, drink selection and front of house hospitality. Highly recommended.

Went for Sunday Dinner and got our drinks. Then had to wait 1 hour & 15 minuets for our food, 2 of them being the incorrect meats, the food was nice but not very hot. It was a real shame. The worst part was the service, it was absolutely terrible, miserable, very very rude and disinterested. It seemed that people who appeared to be regulars got looked after much much better than anybody else with fast service than anybody else. However, we were left with empty plates for approx 20 minuets once we had finished, then 10 minuets for a dessert menu. After we had finished we asked for the bill, eventually a server threw the receipt on our table and walked off without saying anything, which we all found incredibly rude and un-professional. Eventually after another lengthy wait we decided to get up and go to them in order to pay as it seemed they had forgotten about us completely. However, others got there bill and the card machine immediately after. Very very poor & will not be returning, will also let everybody know to give it a miss.

Bill the server put too much paprika on my meal so inedible and he refused to replace fries as requested. He swore at me and shouted at me to get out of his shop🤷🏽‍♀️ The worst customer service I’ve ever experienced in over 21 years of patronising USA Chicken WORKSOP 🫤🫤🫤🫤

Fast easy and top quality food served hot and tasty.

Brilliant place to eat, good choice on menu. Staff are really friendly and efficient. Good prices. Attractive seating areas. Great garden. Parking is a bonus.

Unfortunately the thing that soured my experience most was the fundamental failure of the kitchen, dry, chewy and fetid chicken even coming with complimentary hairs. The atmosphere was mediocre at best and table service was the only positive.

The breakfast selection is good they have a range of choices including yoghurts and breakfast bars, fresh fruit and juices as well as toast, and a selection of cereals. Staff are amazing and will help no end and the atmosphere is quiet and calm.

My friend and I meet here about 2/3 times a year and we are greeted like old regulars. It’s not far from the A1 and worth a tiny detour. Lovely village pub, nice decor, great staff and absolutely delicious food. Menu changes but proper pastry all round pie is always on the menu and totally fabulous. This visit I had Pirate Pete’s fish platter and the mini fish pie was one of the most delightful things I have had in a long time. My friend had the chicken burger. Good quality food at a good price

Dear TripAdvisor. You and the wider internet have well and truly lied to us. The Ship Inn of Retford is basically an absolute hole, disguised as a half decent establishment. The lass behind the bar was proper canny, but she was up against it when it became apparent that there was absolutely no-one in the building capable of heating up a chilli cheese dog. Problematically, though, instead of telling us that they couldn't quite manage to serve up said dish, they readily took our money and left us sitting for over an hour, with an oft-promised 'two-minutes on your food'. Coq au Vin to that we said, after 75 minutes of my stomach thinking my throat had been cut. The final straw was the pub football team(s) who gradually took over the place, who were canny to begin with but then the chief mischief maker entered stage rear, soon to be visited by his actual dealer, and with all the excitement of a new pencil case on the first day of term, took to smoking himself a nice blunt. Now there's a time and a place for this activity, and 1pm on a Sunday lunchtime in a pub next to little kids is not a single one of those. So we left. With a difficult-to-get refund, and still with the stomach and throat thing in full swing. What an absolute chuff on. Only getting one star because you won't let me give precisely none. Do your stomach and your nose a favour, give it a nice wide berth.

Kennys …lovely firendly Staff .. ive been going here for two years now and never had a bad lunch / tea…the home fish cakes & cheese cakes are unique to kennys .. Haddocks are a Good size & Scampi larger than normal !! we’ ve eaten in a few times but usually take home .. Recommended !! 🎖️
