We were in Clayworth and needed somewhere for lunch. This is very pleasant and dog-friendly English country pub. Excellent sandwiches - I recommend the Brie and bacon.

An absolute gem of an old worldy pub with a vintage country pub look and feel, 2 beautiful open fires and a selection of drinks, food is outstanding with proper homemade chips and reasonable prices, children's menu and mains cost around £10 to £20, also dogs are welcome and a nice walk down the Chesterfield canal, it's a great pub

When we're visiting family in Clayworth, we always look forward to stopping at the Brewers' at least one evening for dinner. Richard & Gina are fantastic hosts, and always make us feel welcome. The home cooked style food is excellent. Whilst the Blackies' up the road is nice - it's too corporate, and artificial - once you've seen one 'Gastro Pub', you've seen them all. The Brewers Arms on the other hand is a fantastic village pub.

Despite the uncertainty of the current situation with Covid restrictions in place, we met up with some friends at the Brewers. All of the safety measures are in place and although the menu is currently limited, we had no problem deciding which of the dishes we wanted to order. The lady who served us was excellent and the food was superb! The menu is on a chalk board so no need for disposable paper ones.We were told that a homemade steak and ale pie is going back on the board and we will definitely be back to try that!

As a vegan, it's always a bit hit & miss if I'm going to find something good to eat in a restaurant, so it was with slight apprehension when my mum-in-law booked The Brewer's Arms for an anniversary treat for my husband and I. Happily, my worries were quickly dispelled as the lovely proprietor, Gina, explained that she and her husband, Richard, had recently been to a trade event with the aim of exploring more vegetarian options to list on their menu. The choice for vegans was limited (more for vegetarians) but I chose a falafel burger with salad and sautéed mushrooms, which was excellent. My husband had a huge plate of fish and chips and my mother-in-law had (a child's portion!) of gammon with melted cheese. Both were pleased, too.Gina was even able to offer me some dairy free ice cream for dessert. This is a comfy local with a good range of meals on offer and the friendly atmosphere and willingness to embrace plant-based dishes made this a very good dining experience.

Visited this pub as a group of 4 on a Saturday night, booked in advance as advised by bar staff over the phone. First impressions weren’t great if I’m honest, a typical country pub, lovely warm feeling to it but an update well overdue, the owners were really really friendly, good sense of humour and pretty sarcastic which we didn’t mind at all. The menu was good, quite a variety, something for everybody. The starters were really nice, well presented and at our table fairly quickly. The mains were outstanding. There aren’t many places that understand my meaning of meat ‘well done’ but this is definitely one of them , the mixed grill was cooked to perfection, 1x large gammon, 1x large steak, 2x proper sausages, black pudding, home made chips and a few greens, it was lovely, reasonable prices, £85 for four starters, 4 mains and 2 drinks each, definitely recommended and well worth a visit

We visit here quite often and the place is what it is. The food is always excellent and big portions. One big plus here are the owners are stand on and you deal with them personally most of the time. Well, this place was recommended by a work colleague but truly it was awful. Dry, garlic mushrooms on dry toasted roll. A steak that was off and smelt awful and very mediocre chicken dishes. It was dreadful. I suppose it depends on what you're accustomed to but if you set the bar in the middle, the quality falls very short. Staff were lovely however and dealt with the steak complaint appropriately. But, got to say that even their kindness and friendliness wouldn't tempt me back in a million.

Brewers Arms is easy to find but there is limited parking around the back but ample parking along the street. I am often juvious upon entering small village pubs as I have often experienced locals to be quite intimidating. This was not the case at the Brewers Arms and I felt the atmosphere to be warm and welcoming. It was quiet upon our arrival and I could see the tables set for tea and some reserved. The member of bar staff was friendly and quickly showed us to our table and offered us a menu whilst pointing out the 'Specials Board' . . The menu was minimum but plentiful and I still struggled to choose due to the lovely selection which included fish, home made pie, vegetarian, steaks and chicken. I had noticed the portion sizes being served to other tables whilst sat having our drinks and they looked to be of good portion. I chose the chicken with cheese, bacon and bbq sauce which came with homemade chips, salad, homemade coleslaw and a extra portion of bbq sauce. My meal was so satisfying and fulfilling that I had no room for pudding and there's always room for pudding but not this time! The selection of desserts varied and had the traditional puddings available. My friend and I got chatty with a local couple sat beside us who confirmed that portion sizes are always the same and if your meal wasn't manageable then the staff will pack it up for you to take home. I would definitely recommend a visit to this pub with family members and friends of all ages because you will be offered a warm welcome. See you soon

Since we moved our boat to moorings Clayworth last year we have been meaning to get around to visiting The Brewers for a meal but just never quite got around to it until yesterday. We had heard good reports and were pleased to find were able to get a table to eat on a Saturday evening even though we had not booked. There were a number of reserved tables though and we arrived early so I suspect we may have been disappointed later. Concious that I was supposed to be on a diet I chose the salmon fillet in a basil sauce with new potatoes and vegetables. I kidded myself that it was a healthy option :) In fact when food arrived it was a massive portion but it was really so good I had to clear my plate. The salmon was cooked to perfection as were the interesting range of veg. The sauce was sublime! To round it all off we were able to wash it down with a drop of very well kept Adnams Ale. The menu had some interesting options, the staff were extremely friendly and welcoming and the service can not be faulted. All this within a very traditional English country pub. My only regret is we left it so long before trying this place out! We will certainly be back ... I think my diet will have to suffer.

The room is traditional décor, cosy, with a lovely crackling fire as it was a coolish evening, but it was soon lovely and warm. Our food arrived and it was nicely cooked and presented pub food, just what we wanted, no spots of foams and jus. We have been going to the Brewers since moving into the area a few months ago, having always attended on a Friday or Saturday evening, with largely good experiences. This evening (Tuesday) was a completely different story. Having played it safe with a chicken salad and my wife having a prawn salad, we were appalled when the food arrived. The new potatoes had been microwaved, half were piping hot and half were stone cold. The lettuce was absolutely crawling with little flies and was clearly mouldy. It is such a shame as we will now have to find a new place to eat. Thankfully the bar lady did not charge us for our water and lemonade (very generous...) but there was only a half-hearted apology forthcoming and the staff did not seem as shocked as we were - perhaps it is more common than one imagines? We will certainly never return. It is a rareity that a meal leaves you in tears, but this did just that. I advise all to find somewhere else to eat - anywhere is better than here.

What a refreshing change to go to a Tesco store and find they have a proper café in situ. My local Tesco changed to Costa some years ago and it is dire in there, noisy, very expensive and very limited on choice. The café in Tesco Worksop is wonderful, clean, bright, great value for money and the staff are so friendly and helpful. I visit my sister who is in a local Nursing Home and the Tesco café has proved a godsend for somewhere comfortable and reasonably priced to get food and drink. Long may it last, wish my local store still had its decent café.

Went for Sunday carvery, really not what we expected. It’s not your usual carvery as you choose the meat and the server puts the rest of the food on your plate. The veg is on a table to the side but it’s mostly stood in hot water keeping warm, but making it tasteless and you cannot help yourself as it’s put on a plate while you stand there. There are different size plates to choose from but £12.50 for what you got seemed a bit much. The whole place is in need of a refurb and the loud music being played throughout made us decide we’d try elsewhere in future.
