The Pub is Re-Open with new owners. Hannah is superb, she has a lovely smile & always greets customers who walk in. We went for a meal on Saturday pm & it was superb. The chef even came out & asked how things were. A lovely touch. The pub has a great atmosphere & is cosy & warm. We are not local to Everton, but the locals were really nice & talkative. They are having a New Years Eve Buffet, tickets are £5.00. We will definitely be attending for New Year.

Visited here last week and found pleasant surrounds although very dark inside so decided to sit out as it was a lovely day. The meals came very promptly and were well presented however they did not taste as good as they looked. My friend had a cheese pie with the pie crust very pale in colour and could have done with a few more minutes in the oven. The inside was a FONDUE that is the only way I can describe it. Most unapertising!! I had a Chicken Berger and salad which was quite nice apart from the Bun which was quite stale. I can not say we will visit again as the meals were just average and no great experience.

We came for Sunday lunch, we asked at the bar for a menu and it was as if they didn't have a clue and got someone from the restaurant. It felt like the bar and the restaurant where two different things and wasn't working together. Food was lovely but will not eat there again because the service was very poor!Think the bar staff need to work better with restaurant staff and have a better understanding of what's on the Sunday menu list

The Old Blacksmiths Arms in Everton has undergone a role reversal. It used to be where the “better” people went to have a drink and talk to each other. It was known for excellent food. The other pub in the village is on the main road-called the Sun Inn. After being threatened with closure by the brewery the Sun Inn was bought up by two South Yorkshire businessmen, who have spent a fortune on it because it’s in a good location on the main Gainsborough road. The Sun Inn, for quite a number of years, had a reputation as the rougher pub. That is where the workmen went.

The welcome was very warm and friendly, a choice of 3 meats with all the trimmings was offered. I had gammon my husband pork, and both were delicious and plenty of it. Jam sponge and Eton Mess followed which again were yummy. If you are looking for good basic home cooked pub grub then I recommend that you give the new team a go. Also excellent value as very reasonably priced.

We had a table booked, yet when we arrived we were told the chef wasn’t in that night. Fair enough, mistakes can happen. What isn’t acceptable is that after overhearing one of the staff say quietly to another ‘I forgot to put it in the book’ another staff member blatantly lied to us blaming ‘external sources do all our bookings’. If they had apologised, maybe offered a complimentary drink then no hard feelings as mistakes do happen, but lying?! No thank you won’t be returning

We have visited twice in last 3 weeks. The staff are so courteous & friendly very impressed. The food excellent on both occasions except it arrived cold and was served on cold plates. I did say only 1 issue as my next comment may sound a little petty. Our Yorkshire puddings did look like frozen packet ones and were tiny but then the next plates that came out after ours had a lovely large Yorkshire pudding. This was only on one of the visits. Neither would stop us coming back but please look at these minor comments. Thank you & thank you to your wonderful staff.

No menus available, waitress did not know what vegetarian meals could be served and there was no vegan option at all. Sunday carvery was served to the table and consisted of two slices of cold roast turkey, beef, pork or gammon. All very dry. Yorkshire puddings from the freezer, mash potatoe that very much resembled instant, burnt bits of stuffing, cold roast potatoes and an unsightly pile of very under cooked mixed veg on a seperate plate to share between three people but no serving spoons or condiments until requested.

We used to live nearby over 30 years ago and often visited so we were hoping for the same great service we used to get years ago and we were not disappointed. Very friendly welcome and great pub food. Two of our party chose the scampi and the waiter returned five minutes later to say they had none left and they could choose anything else off the menu free of charge. What great customer service. We declined their kind offer and made alternative choices. When the bill came we were charged the price of the scampi even though our second choices were more expensive. What great customer service. We popped in as visitors to the village on a family visit. The pub looked great and had a nice feel to it when we walked in. The menu had a few 'unavailable s' so we ordered off the availables to find this was also unavailable- no drama's as I had another choice and the mains were ok but in my view overpriced for the quality. At that price I would expect it to be better than just ok. The coleslaw does not meet the OK standard as it was little more than red cabbage and Mayo. The meat in the ale pie was clearly a cheap cut and the. Then we saw the chef. Hi whites trousers were filthy and his top was a hoody. If I had seen this before I ordered I would have left. The microwaved dessert was inedible and I sent it back. The drinks selection was also poor with only two reds on offer and no baileys'. The beer fridge was also empty. The waiter did his best to keep it salvageable but he was let down by the food and other staff. In summary I think that the appearance of the chef and quality/cost/availability of the food really let this place down and I hope they get their act together because I'm told it used to be brilliant

I can't say how disappointing it was to discover that a restaurant which was so good in the past has gone so down hill. We visited for Sunday lunch, expecting it to be a good menu as on previous visits. Unfortunately Sunday lunch now only consists of a carvery and a very dubious one at that. There were no starters available as, we were told, there was a problem with the carvery hot plate and all meats were being dished up in the kitchen. We couldn't see why they couldn't have provided a soup or maybe pate or something. After deciding on our choice of meat which was served up to our table on cold plates, we had to go to the carvery for our vegetable selection. The cauliflower cheese was all dried up, we were told they were waiting for a new lot of this but wasn't offered it , and the roast potatoes, carrots and parsnips were almost cold. Admittedly the creamed potatoes and the broccoli were hot but the potatoes were almost runny. When we were asked if everything was fine we told them our feelings. On this they apologised and told us we would only have to pay for 1 meal - there were two of us. After looking at the dessert menu we decided not to bother, almost everything consisted of chocolate so if you're not keen on chocolate its tough luck. All in all not a good experience and we shan't be going back again. Its a pity because we did like this place

After visiting here months ago when it was under different hands we will NEVER return. Firstly when we ordered the food off of the childrens menu we were then told it was the old menu and things would need to be checked. When one of the childrens meals did arrive a HOT DOG, turned out to be two normal sausages NO BUN, after asking they said that's how it is!!One of us wanted a vegetarian meal but only being a salad on the menu we asked if we could have off of the kids menu, which at the time looked good, nit no not over 12!After ordering a MUG of soup one espresso sized cup arrived for one and one tea cup arrived for the other person, the cup not mugs we not even half full. Actually when we tasted the soup it's a good job as the after kick of pepper meant we needed loads of water. There were 7 of us ordering 6 meals. No one else at all in the place. When I asked if a cheese and tomato sandwich was okay instead of the cheese and pickle, it was a problem and needed to be checked with the chef. As she couldn't find him she thought it would be okay. The meals all arrived and as I said just for 6 people. We ordered two cooked meals, BOTH we very burnt. The gammon was black and the lasagne well unrecognisable. Extremely disappointed. At the end when we said we were unhappy the lady searched for the chef who apparently was upstairs and she didn't have the code to get to him. After calling him on the telephone and still no reply we walked out paying minimal as we had not eaten we went for a lovely meal when we got home.Such a shame as the last people had really made an effort. All I can say is I regret not photographing the evidence.

Not a burger person but chips were good. After giving my order for the sausage and mash the waitress returned to say the butcher had been unable to deliver the sausage today and could I order something else so I went for the scampi which was rather overcooked but good chips served in a small bucket with greaseproof paper. We did not have a sweet so I our visit was fairly short and sweet. I think there is room for improvement as the pub itself has a good atmosphere.

The pub itself was great and the staff friendly, but the food was average at best (the advertised cob ended up being sliced bread) and took 40 minutes to arrive, even though it was really quiet and only one other table was ordering food.

Came a couple of months ago and had a fantastic meal, not sure what's changed but food wasn't anywhere near as good, could hear music and shouting/laughing from the kitchen which disturbed our meal, upon leaving and waking to our car noticed chefs stood outside smoking in their whites uncovered. Not the most hygienic of methods. Doubt we will be returning.

Friends who were visiting the area after having been previously some 2 to 3 years ago and having a good experience on that occasion. What has changed?Sunday carver was poor quality, beef was tasteless, veg under cooked. What more the portion of meat served was poor considering the cost. Then the waitress behind the counter proceeded to serve up all our veg individually, and as a result, gave the smallest portions. Sorry but I thought the idea of a carver was that you were served your meat and you helped yourself to veg?Not good at all for the money. Won't be going back.

Brought the family for dinner, excellent food and service as usual. Little extras such as welcoming the kids and babies and offering to warm baby food was a bonus. This place is a little gem and we are so lucky to call it our local.

We whizzed past the car park it is only about 100 yards from the turning off the main road. It was a struggle to turn round as the road is so narrow. Once in, the car park was spacious. The pub is dog (and child) friendly which is always nice. Next time will know not to leave our pooch at home. The food, drink & atmosphere were lovely, Mid range prices starting from starters £5 mains £12. Didn't have desert as too full. We will definitely call again.

We called off here yesterday on our way back from Yorkshire Wildlife Park with the intention of having a bite! My partner asked for the menu which was a grubby piece of paper with the food & prices detailed on it. They had in the lasagne for me i would have gone for & the Steak my partner would have gone for but then the prices.. £12.95 for a lasagne!!! Rump steak 10 oz for £13.95 then another £3.00 for the sauce! I don't think so.. literally everything on the menu was too overpriced! Changed our minds and went elsewhere.. The lasagne at this stunningly decorated little pub was beautifully presented & could not have tasted better at just £7.00! See my other review.

We had already agreed between us to go back to the Blacksmiths having had a great meal there last year. Whilst searching for the telephone number I came across recent tripadvisor reviews. We were not looking forward to wasting hard earnt cash on poor quality food and service. We had asked for a table in the conservatory and after finding a young waitor were shown to a room with empty tables. The carpark and bar were heaving. A band was setting up to play and we managed to get a drink sorted . The waiter brought a sheet of a4 paper that we were told was the menu. It was very badly laid out with no regard for presentation. We were now in a quandry. Do we go ahead and order or call it quits and go to the chippy. Eventually we made the choice to go ahead with the night as planned. We figured that either all the folk in the bar had come for the music or it was regulars that had no where else to go. My wife and I chose steaks. Chicken and beef were out friends choices. When the plates arrived the plates looked empty and the chips were in tin buckets. What a delight to cut into possibly the best steak I've had in years. The chips were tasty and my onion rings were gratefully accepted by my wife. Our friends were also delighted with their meals. We had room for a pudding and again were pleased with our selections. The meal was for us top end for price. Quantitys whilst looking misely were actually filling. We will visit again and would not hesitate to pass on details to others. Under new ownership it may well be but for us that may be a good thing. A visit on different nights may be a totally different outcome but they don't deserve the bad reviews in our opinion. Only other thing to say would be get the damm menu sorted and do something about the website. If that was kept upto date with details menu, prices and of live acts on it, we may return sooner.

It was my 1st visit to the blacksmiths and I will come back again but there are a few things that would easily to turn an OK score to a good or better. The food was very good with all of my party had something different. All dishes were great. It's the small things that impacted the score; The service was attentive but lacked detail with wine glasses that were not clean and a menu printed on grubby stained paper made me wary of the food before I ordered. These fears turned out to be unfounded as the food was better than ok.The service team also need to remember that the customer comes 1st regardless as the service was at time as little curt.Overall the pub served good food and had a nice atmosphere and it would only take a few small changes to return it to its former reputation (reading the other comments)

We are not regular visitors 2 or 3 times a year, something was up when we arrived, not the previous welcome, not the variety of food, standard very average but the prices are still for the better quality [possibly with the exception of the sweet]. Regret we will have to find another 'special' place - this one has lost it's quality.

I've been visiting this pub on and off for 35 years. Not on a regular basis but popping in now and then. I can tell when it's got a good landlord and when it is just chugging along. The pub has a certain charm with low beams that you can smack your head on if you don't take the advice to "Duck or Grouse".Three of us went for an evening meal on a Friday. My mate had the pie of the day, he thought the King William at Scaftworth just down the road did a better job. My wife had the beef bourguignon and said that although it was warm it wasn't hot and she thought she would have been supplied with some vegetables to go with it.I can't recall the name of my main course but like my wife's main course it was warm but wasn't hot.I was the only one that had three courses. My Portobello mushroom starter was tasty and hot. The bakewell tart and custard was OK but not exceptional. On our way home in the car we discussed our meals, the general consenus was that it was OK but nothing special.Given the prices that are being charged here I would have expected betterOn the plus side the pub does have Theakstones Old Peculier which is not a commonly stocked beer and it should be highly commended for that.

The Cavery was really nice, it was very tasty and all home made and the quality of products seemed really good, the only thing that let it down was the portions of mash potato, vegetables and stuffing etc, also the food wasn't hot and the meat was cold, they could do with a better way of keeping it warm or go back to the original way of table service like the previous owners. I hope the Come up with a better way of keeping the cavery hot as its so tasty it's a shame for temperature to let it down

Booked a meal for eleven of us for my husbands 70th birthday. The food was fantastic, we all had a starter and a different dish and everyone enjoyed it. It was beautifully presented and was a generous amount. We did not have room for desserts but they sounded delicious. It has been a few months since we visited the blacksmiths for Sunday lunch. It was my partners birthday today so we decided to go to what we remember was a warm welcome, excellent service and lovely food. We came away very disappointed. We realised that it was under new management when we were given a ticket for our Sunday lunch, which used to be served at the table with full waitress service, this was what we liked so much. The restaurant was very noisy with loud music playing and the food was not by any means hot. We don't like our meat over cooked but we certainly don't like it rare, all the meats apart from the pork were rare. Nobody came and asked us if the food was alright. Definitely crossed off our favourite restaurant list. Would not recommend and wil not return.

Went for Sunday lunch, it was very busy and hadn't booked but they managed to fit us in, but unfortunately the seats were near the hallway leading to the outside door, so it was a bit draughty. The new owner had literally just taken over the pub the day before so we didn't expect too much but were pleasantly surprised! A family group after a long walk in the local woods had a couple of sharing platters, feta, olives, parma ham, and rocket with the most delicious chips! Decor is improved and more understated, proper napkins and a removal of all the 'tat' that the previous landlords liked. The manager was very nice and helpful, nothing was too much trouble. I hope this continues!

We had read that this pub & restaurant had recently been acquired by the team that run Bawtry's Bar & Brasserie and Coleman's Pizzeria & Steakhouse on the High Street in Bawtry, about three miles down the road from the village of Everton. Sunday lunch beckoned and we decided to see if The Blacksmiths Arms at Everton could match the food and service on offer at Coleman's.The 17th century inn has a good reputation for a nice pint of beer and this was the highlight of our visit. Service was adequate, but nothing out of the ordinary. Ordinary is also a good description of the Sunday lunches on offer. Between the four of our party we had three different starters and three different meat main dishes and without exception, they were very average. There was nothing to complain bitterly about, it was just an exercise in eating to feel replete. I would like to mention that when we requested the wine menu, we were informed by the continental speaking waiter that there wasn't one. He proceeded to list the wines available from memory, of which he had some degree of difficulty in completing. We left disappointed on a wet and miserable afternoon, which matched our mood. I think we'll swerve this place in future and stick to the 'sister' restaurant and bar in Bawtry.

A table had been booked in advance on a weekday lunchtime but as it happened the table had not been laid/ set up and the pub was not busy, very few customers. There appeared to be only one person serving who we felt could have been more friendly and welcoming. Two of us had Beef Strogonoff which was ok but not the best I've had and I had to leave some of the meat because it was too chewy which did not seem to fit with it being made with fillet steak. Two friends had a fish dish which IF I went again, I would choose. We all felt the choice of puddings/ deserts was a bit much the same and nothing appealing.so did not choose anything.

The pub has always had a good reputation locally however, our visit was disappointing. The restaurant menu was quite limited although the bar menu which was unavailable looked a lot better. The food was ok although we did have to send rice back which was stone cold. Apparently the chef had 'a senior moment'. Lemon meringue was bland and tasteless but this was deducted from the bill. There are lots of better places locally to eat.

Our second visit, only because our friends wanted to take us there. We both found the menu to be very uninspiring and we both felt that we were choosing the best of a poor bunch of typical pub grub. Because of this, we played safe with a steak, but were both disappointed with a tasteless steak and very greasy fat chips. The service was good and friendly, but that didn't compensate for the food!
