Disgusting place food a terrible experience Wasn't going to complain seeing as the manageress was having a full blown verbal attack on another customer(Yes we did see and hear we were sat right behind this ) over his bandit winnings Awful experience and a very volatile place, and the customers arguing and threatening each other was the icing on the stale cake All in all a Terrible experience Avoid this place is the best advice I could give

Don't order a all day brunch after 12 pm it's a cold 9pm breakfast. Sent back came back not much difference. The baked potato and tuna was nice. Busy good atmosphere staff very friendly. Just keep the breakfast going

I went for a family night out and a meal. This was terrible I had a curry that was meant to have a 4 chili rating, and I got a bowl half full of a thick liquid that tasted like a stew. my wife had fish and chips with only 5 chips. my son had a double burger American this was a slider when delivered the other 2 meals were all of the same poor level.with only my grandson's pizza with chips extra being okay. was a very poor experience they seem to have lost there touch .

Good food but could have been warmer! Very empty cos of the weather

Very helpful staff. New employee who was finding his feet but was immensely helpful. Other members of staff very helpful and listened kindly to our feedback. We had a very tiny issue and they were positive and quick to help. Highly recommend the vegan Quorn nugget wrap which is so delicious! I have the vegan mayo with it in place of salsa. Gorgeous!

Can't be it for value for money

The Dominie Cross is a typical wetherspoons. There is a good selection of beers, lager and cider, including five cask conditioned hand pulled real ales. The cask ales we tried were in excellent condition. The staff were very friendly and efficient the service was very quick. There is a nice outside seating area some of it is undercover. The food is very good and good value.

Got scammed by their car park provider. Got a fine after having payed for a ticket. After the appeal, still had to pay an "administrative fee". Not cool

Very busy on a Saturday about 2pm. Tables needed clearing.

The best Witherspoon's in Retford.....

Delicious food as always and quick service. We use the app. Works very well and so quick.

A nice (newish) spoons with a generous beer garden at the rear. I had a cheese and tomato panini with chips, hot drinks and a real for less than a tenner. Good beer, but the food was a let down. Chips weren't the best and hardly any cheese on the panini.

Visited on Saturday night with 2 friends, we ordered an alcoholic drink, which we were served and had started drinking. Half way through the drink, staff came out to I.D us which is fine we are all in our 20’s. After this drink, we then went back to bar to be told we won’t be served anymore due to one of us ‘fainting’ or ‘falling over’ which did not happen even when speaking to management they were clearly making up lies on the spot, obviously not wanting a Saturday night custom as it was very empty in there. None of us were drunk or anywhere near as like I say it was our first drink. Silly staff, Will not be visiting again!

Had a terrible time bad attitude by the staff and head bar person was overcharged and when I noticed I ask for assistance was told to wait then was given a huge attitude so told them to put it in the charity box and I got was a smile THANKS

Breakfast on the 4th August. Cold didn't have everything on that was on the menu. Been OK before wouldn't bother again

Only stopped off for a quickie, usual Spoons, good cheap and cheerful.

A large venue, capable of accommodating lots of people. Cosy areas to tuck away. Beer is always kept very well. Food can be hit and miss, such as dried out gammon and rubbery eggs, if it's bad they do offer a replacement. The staff are all great and very helpful.

First visit for me but excellent food and very welcoming.

Bar staff very poor bad mannered. Especially the Scottish guy in the skirt very very Rud everyone at the bar mentioned him.

It's a 'Spoons. Standard menu. Good,.intuitive app.. At the table service. Always an empty table. Pic - Gourmet sirloin £12.45 includes alc. Drink. Staff friendly. Constant cleaning being done. Table clearance etc. It's always busy, but not full, except on weekends or big sports events. Closes at 0100 on a Saturday. Large TV screens here as well. Town centre location with good access to front & rear . Disabled access to rear - two large steps at the front. Large beer garden + it's partially undercover. Free parking at the rear on a Sunday.. Coffee machines at the front of the premise. Busy with cyclists on a morning at the weekend. Coffee only £1.56 with free refills at present. What's not to like ?

When I was there a few days ago I was with my friend and granddaughter I ordered our food at the bar when we received our meals they were nicely presented the staff are very friendly and helpful the food is good and great value would definitely recommend to people

Staff are friendly and helpful. Plenty of options to choose from. Great if you want to just grab a coffee or a quick bite to eat.

I took my granddaughter there for her birthday meal . The place its safe was dirty and the food was disgusting never go there again.

Classic example of blindly sticking to rules rather than using common sense where appropriate. Unfriendly and rude staff.

Sadly due to the behaviour of a member of staff, the experience I had at The Dominie Cross pub was unpleasant. Don’t worry, this isn’t one of those, ‘oh there’s always one’ reviews. The food was ok and so were the drinks but I sadly left feeling shocked and disappointed. It was clearly a ‘racial’ issue that she had with me (I couldn’t pin point anything that I had done, to cause her to treat me in the way that she did). Anyway, we won’t be visiting again, life goes on and small minded people aren’t worth bothering about.

You know what to expect at a Wetherspoons, reasonably priced meals and drinks, generally in well renovated old buildings. Today was no exception. We were looking for a quick meal out and a drink, that wouldn't break the bank. A veggie curry and a meat curry, both served with rice, poppadoms and nan bread within 20 minutes of ordering, including alcoholic drinks ( beer & gin/tonic - for just over £20 !! Brilliant value). Good service, friendly staff and a lovely building. We chose a Sunday afternoon, and probably the wrong table !! A couple of very noisy, very boisterous families not far away !! But all said, good value and great curry. Sunday road parking alongside the pub is free, as are all the carparks in Retford.

Great pub, the service was a bit lacking a few times, but they politely apologized for that.

So, it's not the most attractive pub in the world, but it has pleasant decor, plenty of space, and a variety of seating options (including outdoor area). Also, it's a Wetherspoon's, so there's a great choice of food and drink available at extremely affordable prices. The staff are very friendly too. I regularly visit with family and/or friends. I do have two issues, though. Firstly, now the 'order from your table' app is well established, actually walking up to the bar on a night out can mean an extremely long wait (20 minutes on my last visit, in fact). It's still a pub, and when you're out with your friends, and you just want drinks, you still expect decent bar service. Secondly, over the last few years, the tables have become shabby and often sticky. This is apparently due to a spray cleaning product they had to use regularly during the pandemic. It's not pleasant to eat there because of this. I know it would be a big expense, but the tables need sanding down and re-treating, or replacing. That being said, I would definitely recommend it. If the above issues were addressed, I would give this pub five stars.

Me and the wife both had a big breakfast each which consisted of 2 sausages, 2 rashers of bacon, 3 hash browns, 1 mushroom, beans and 2 slices of toast with loads of butter. It was very nice and for £1.56 extra you can have unlimited hot drinks. I had never had a spoons breakfast but I'll be having one a bit more now.

8:am on a Saturday morning and it's time for another Wetherspoons breakfast. I won't beat about the bush, this was definitely one of the better traditional breakfasts we've enjoyed at a Wetherspoons. And when our quest to visit them all has reached it's end I'm pretty sure this will still be right up there in the top 10% A nice pub with helpful and friendly staff. The food was excellent, the coffee was hot, what more could you want? And the beans didn't even have skin on them. Yes, really

Always a good time here, insanely fast service with both drinks and food and I cannot recommend enough the pizza here - always THE BEST and it’s a sourdough base so my partner (who’s gluten free) can have it too! Price is amazingly affordable too!

Called in on steak Tuesday. Three of us had the same meal. It was nice. The steak comes with veg 3x onion rings chips and mushroom with grilled tomato. My wife and I are teetotal so we had J2o each and the lad had a Desparado. We all enjoyed our meal and would go again. The 4 stars for atmosphere is because it was cold in there and a few kids running about. But I'm sure we could have been able to pick a table in an adults only section? And Away from draughty doorways.

Always find a Wethwrspoons when we are out and about. We like to try them all! This one was great , the food usual standard, piping hot and served quickly by a friendly assistant. Toilets were and the ladies was lnt upstairs for a change, but the one Ichose had part of the veneer missing from the wall A great visit and will call again when in the area

Don't eat here, I took a group of residents, ordering and drinking fine, 7 of us on 2 tables, 2 meals were not enjoyable my chicken burger was cold toast bun but cold cooked chicken in the middle, beef burger ordered was cooked but served warm, The fish and chips were nice, Curry was nice and the jacket potato was OK. Disappointed.

Didn't eat here just met with friends for drinks. Nice atmosphere and no waiting at the bar. They also offer an app with table service which works well. It was busy but not overwhelming, nice place to start the evening with reasonable prices too

Saturday 23rd December 2023 Today i visited this good clean bust vibrant well staffed weatherspoons if the pub would have had a decent range of handpumped ales on and not just the bog standard ones weatherspoons have on it would have been given 5 stars by me today

we had xmas meal average, tates were not nice. drinks fine. dirty tables, staff looked fed up.it is what it is, but for the same price we have had better meals. we would not have the same meal again.

Me and my wife decided to have 3 small plates each. I had a pizza, haloumi fries and chicken bites. My wife had pizza, chicken strips and haloumi fries. The pizza is spot on but is only an 8" one. The chicken bites are ok but you've had enough by the time you've eaten them all, I wasn't too keen on the haloumi fries. Maybe 3 small plates is being greedy maybe the reason I didn't enjoy it too much. Maybe I'll think before I order next time.

Visited late Thursday afternoon. I had 3 small plates for just under £15(8"pizza, loaded chips, chicken bites). My wife had fish and chips with 6 onion rings. I was stuffed after. Great value and tasted really good. They still have to make more of an effort to clean their tables.

This was a fabulous pub to go drinking at, with a historic styled design! This includes the brick walls and symbols on the walls, the counter is flashy and staff were so nice that they made sure to go back to serving me first after accidentally forgetting I was there. I had a refreshing pint of Coor's, outdoor seating is fabulous and the toilets were kept clean even!

We ate here on Sunday before travelling to The Stone Valley Festival. We ordered steak pudding, chips and mushy peas and it was really tasty. The staff were really brilliant and very attentive making sure that everything was ok. The pub has a good atmosphere and is very clean and tidy.

Food is expensive to what it used to be and not as nice. No one comes around to check if everything is ok. But cheap beer. I don't go in as often as o used to.

Really good service if you use the app and don't queue. No way of knowing who is next to be served at the bar so you take your chances there. Busy times the app is excellent and bar staff prioritise the online app sales.

Visited early on a Monday evening. It wasn't busy but not empty. We ordered drinks and food through the app. The drinks came quickly enough and the food not long after that. I had a gourmet chicken burger(buttermilk) which came with onion rings and chips. My wife ordered bbq chicken melt with a jacket potato. Both were nice and typical for a wetherspoons. The place is a touch run down and a bit grubby. Toilets aren't upstairs!!! Will visit again.

Sadly my wife's tika massala was served only just like warm. My jalfrezi was good en 🔥 but I finished before my wife's tika massala was reheated and served.

It has become a bit of a family tradition to drop in every Thursday for a curry and drink. Obviously it is excellent value for the money but beyond that the service is also excellent with friendly staff and far and away the best Wetherspoons pub we have been in. Thank you.

This pub has a large outside seating area, which is great especially having a drink and chat outside in the sunshine. The food was lovely too, came out nicely presented. It's clean and tidy, even the toilets were clean.

Staff were rude and abrupt, we all ordered a SOFT drink to our table and got asked to show ID to prove we was all over the age of 16 even though we ordered soft drinks! two members on the table had their ID whilst me and two others didn’t but we was all wearing our collage lanyards which proved we was above the age of 16. The member of staff refused to give us our drink and told us we had to leave, by this point we had already paid for our drinks and came to quite a lot as there was 7 of us, I know this seems as a couple of pounds for adults but for teenagers it felt like we were taken advantage of. The staff member brought over the manager who was again rude and abrupt to us and told us we can not have a refund for our drinks and told us to leave. It was very disappointing as I personally am not from Retford and travelled far to come here to meet my friends and we experienced a very nasty atmosphere even though it was extremely obvious we was all above the age of 16! I have also been here several times before and they have never ID me so this shows that their policy is not carried out very well by the members of staff.
