We normally enjoy eating in National Trust cafes but this one was disappointing. We went for lunch at 12.15 yet several items from the already limited menu were unavailable, including the dish that I had planned to order. As there was a big queue, I felt that I needed to choose an alternative quickly, so ended up with a very uninteresting ham salad sandwich.

Lovely place, full of character. Toilets immaculately clean. Pleasant helpful staff. We had a roast dinner with cream scones afterwards. I would describe the meal as average - quite edible but not outstanding. The scones were very dry and not very fresh. At somewhat over £100 (for four people) we felt we had paid too much for the meal to be honest.

Coffee / cake stop as soon as we arrived at Clumber Park. The staff were very friendly. Coffee good, cake stale. Returned back for lunch and ordered the jacket potato options - unfortunately, had to return both as were under cooked. Second jackets were slightly softer. Portion sizes of the salad leaves & coleslaw were small. Prefer to bring a picnic next time. Suggestion: include dietary options on the menu instead of having to ask at the counter, then have to wait for the staff to check the folder!

We regularly go biking with our little boy. We park outside Clumber then cycle in and around the park then stop at the cafe for a treat before heading home. It’s fine for our needs but I wouldn’t make a trip out to go there especially. It’s very busy and the tables outside are often all taken but as we have our bikes we sit on the grass or a bench further up from the cafe. The cakes and scones can be a little dry, the staff are generally friendly but don’t go out their way to make your visit nice. The ice-creams are yummy and it’s clean inside to say how busy it gets. Overall, I’d say it’s fine for a coffee and (somewhat dry) cake if your out walking or biking (which is amazing, the scenery is beautiful and the off road trails are great for little ones) but I wouldn’t go there for anything more than that. Also, as a National Trust I am shocked by how much one use plastic they have. Plastic spoons in the ice-creams and plastic glasses. The bottles are however glass but if you don’t want to drink out of a bottle then the only option is generally a single use cup. You would think a National Trust would be leading the way in reducing plastic waste.

This is the second time I have eaten here on the weekend. I go here because it is right next to the walled garden which is a really nice walk out and they sell interesting herbs. I never order mains, just coffee and something sweet, normally with a few people. The food here from a scone and cake perspective is okay, sometimes the cakes/scones are a bit dry. I am told the cheese scones are more than good - which I will try next time for sure. The service on the weekends (the only time I have been) is dire. Firstly you order, for some reason whatever gets ordered at the front till doesn't transition into the kitchen correctly. Whatever i order, it will not come out correctly, such as jam and cream as part of the cream tea service or the right type of coffee. No problem, it happens, but when I mention that there is a problem, please prioritise fixing that problem first and rectify the issue so that everyone at the table can eat/drink together before getting more confused with taking/fulfilling other orders. If you cant remember what was ordered carry a pen and paper with you and make a note as you take the order maybe? I will say this - you are the better cafe in Clumber Park - but all overpriced generally and none of you that I know of offer National Trust member discounts against food and drink.

I'd recommend ringing & booking also check whether kids are allowed (front receptionist had to check whether kids were allowed to dine & also misinformed about kitchen serving time) Once in the restaurant staff were excellent & kids menu was brilliant & really good value. Main menu also excellent - we actually commented for the first time in a long while of eating out we could have had one of everything! We only had starters & main course (with a couple of sides) as we were too full

Staff at this restaurant were lovely. Very welcoming, very friendly. Food ok but not great. Felt the busiest thing in the kitchen was the microwave! Portions small and vegetables weren't with the meal they were extras to pay for. Chips were oven chips although we were assured they were triple cooked fresh potatoes. They were dry and had never been triple cooked.Ordered the black pudding starter expecting potato and circle of black pudding. Got a fried potato cake with a thumbnail piece of black pudding in the centre. Potato was bland and tasteless. Mains of fish were nice except the chips. Brulee dessert was nice but expensive at £7. Other dessert was a sponge but no air to it.Luxury hotel looks but some of the food wouldn't have been out of place at the Brewers Fayre pubs.

I chose the kids lunch box for my son and was told that I had chosen the adult sandwich (which had been the only one on display). There was a long queue of people behind me so I quickly went back to the fridges where kid's sandwiches were being put on display. The kid's sandwich was actually HALF a sliced bread sandwich really not enough for an 8 year old boy. There was also no wholewheat option which is sad considering our era of health awareness. The lady at the counter was quite haughty when I mentioned the half sandwich.

Visited for a light, late lunch on a sunny Sunday in February. All three of us chose the hot pork rolls, available with stuffing and apple sauce. The rolls were soft and pork good and plentiful but not being fans of apple sauce two of us just had the stuffing. As a result it was all a little dry - some butter on the bread roll would have done the trick. Lovely old building and atmospheric rooms.

The food was really good (I had the Thai mussels with a side of the very nice chunky chips) and the puddings were good too. There's a wide range of food on the menu, so everyone was happy. Starter and main for us both with 1 drink each came to £60, so wasn't cheap but was worth it. Y'know, if you don't want to serve people in a business, get a different business. We went here on Saturday at 2:50 n hovered while we looked at the menu board. We asked about the pie and the girl went to ask. When she came back apparently the chef had started to clean, there was only one pie and the kitchen was closed. The menu boards said in big clear numbers that one menu finished at 330 the other at 4. I checked my watch and it was 259! The girl told us all the menus and boards had been misprinted! Really? You think we are that stupid? Terrible attitude! Pull your finger out stop chatting to your bgf or checking your phone and work for a living like we used to before this slack teenage society. Visited this restaurant a few days ago after a walk around the lake with my partner. The food is basic, cake choice is limited and slices are much smaller than anywhere else. The prices are, in my opinion, quite steep £2.50+ for cake that would be half a slice in most other places). Cheese scones have very little cheese in them but a weird herby taste - just like eating herby dough. The main seating area (in the room with the tills) has a row of tables where you can look outside but most have no view but a lot of noise from customers ordering. The back room has tables against the windows overlooking the gardens but sadly lots of overhanging branches and big shrubs against them so no real view. As a result, the restaurant does feel a bit like a claustrophobic cell, which is a shame as Clumber Park is beautiful and the courtyard/lake/gardens around the restaurant are beautiful - you just don't have any view of it inside the restaurant. I personally feel that this is a missed opportunity and given the chance to have tea and cake with a lovely view, it may soften the price of everything. At the moment, the prices are those of an upmarket tea rooms but the reality is nothing to look at and cafe type food like sausage rolls, pasties, bacon cobs and very basic cakes.A lovely park deserves a really lovely restaurant and sadly I think this is why the restaurant always has seats even on weekends and bank holidays, despite car parks being rammed full. For those that enjoy a walk around the lake, we have been frequenting the wagon around the other side of the water. The prices are much more reasonable, the cakes are really lovely and the view from the benches is spectacular. Just a shame that a tiny tea wagon is so much better than the actual on-site restaurant as I love tea and cake after a nice walk.

The food was delicious, a great selection on offer and my steak was cooked to perfection. The atmosphere was nice, rather romantic and we only saw other couples dining so it was very peaceful but this could be because we ate quite late. Only gripe was the time it took to for our drinks to arrive, we did have to ask for them a couple of times which was a little annoying and at the end of our meal the staff seemed to forget about us so we were sat waiting for someone to come back into the dining room for a while but we weren't in any great rush so it wasn't too frustrating.

Visited Clumber Park today with our 2 kids and Grandparents had a great day until....... Granny suggested a drink and a cake in the courtyard restaurant. Lovely warm day so we decided to sit in the courtyard ( albeit storm clouds were gathering ☀️⛅️☁️)Think the clouds were forming from above the frustration thirst & hunger 3 (YES only 3!!) or so tables of customers as we arrived It was clear as we sat down that there was unhappy tables. We ordered from inside as it requested and waited.....and waited.....and yes you guessed it !!Whilst waiting a guy ( with a great sense of humour ) asked a young waiter how long his drinks & cakes were likely to be ?? He jovially warned us that it could be a while before we saw any sign of our drinks ( 2 diet pepsi's 2 teas 1 fruit shoot and a cappachino) and 3 slices of cake.Another 10 mins our drinks arrived so approx 35 mins from ordering ourselves a couple of drinks and cake with only 3 tables of 2 or 3 max. When it arrived there was no milk or sugar so I had to poke my head round the back door and ask. I had also asked for 2 glasses for the pepsis as just plastic bottles were served. There was also an extra chocolate cake which was not ordered which we returned in person !! Another couple, had arrived and ordered in between and had been waiting 30 mins were starting to get frustrated with the service also. The cake coffee and pop were fine so no complaints with the food. We could see the rain advancing so decided to make a dash for it !! At that point the couple got their belated drink & snack just as the heavens opened think they gave up and made a run for the car also !! I am not a complainer usually but this was a shocking experience in a lovely place. Maybe it was just a one off .

This is a review of the Normanton Arms, as the courtyard was closed on a Sunday night. Firstly, my suggestion is to manage your expectations. If you'd like sausage and mash I'm sure the chef can do a mean job but, unfortunately for me, the menu had choices and I went (perhaps bravely) for sea bass with seafood risotto, saffron and chorizo oil. I also ordered a side order of courgette with chilli and garlic. I ordered a bottle of white wine, an usual one as it said on the menu it went well with seafood. Where to begin...Ok let's deal with the wine, served warm (despite the ice bucket), and the waitress didn't know it needed uncorking (presumably used to screw tops). That was sent back and miraculously they found (in the other bar) a cold bottle. Wine very nice, but no idea if it went with the dish because...The sea bass..ah...overcooked yes but I can look past that, however the risotto, that's another story. I asked what was in the seafood (as I'm not keen on muscles, but like most other forms). My maitre d, didn't know, so she checked and sure enough muscles were in it. I asked for them to be removed and, here's where I should've spotted something, was casually informed that they were already in.Perhaps tired from my journey I simply asked chef to remove them, but the horrible truth became obvious when he dish arrived. It was already made. It was liquid (not like risotto), completely overpowered by Parmesan cheese, including no sign of chorizo oil, and red hot (cooked hot), like it had been cooking in the same pot for many hours, and so salty (cheese?), that any other flavours could not be determined. All I could taste was salty cheesy goo!!The courgettes were submerged in oil, under cooked and tasteless (impressive for garlic and chilli)!! The maitre d was consoling, replaced wine, courgettes, apologised, but in truth, the chef should've come out and accepted responsibility.I'm glad I didn't have to pay for it all, but would suggest that the chef who devised the menu either retrain, or actually turn up for work. Perhaps I'm just spoiled living where I do, but it was shockingly bad. Don't visit unless burger and chips is a step up for you.

I booked DBB here at Clumber Park Hotel for one night and reserved a table in the Courtyard Restaurant (More formal). I received a call from a member of staff to say that the Courtyard Restaurant had been closed down due to smoke alarm issues, so then my reservation was relocated to the second restaurant at the hotel "The Normanton Inn" (more of a casual pub feel). The menus are the same in both restaurants and was so pleased with the choice that they had, all very seasonal and sounded lovely. For starter I had spiced couscous with goat's cheese, sun blushed tomatoes and cucumber pickle. It was fantastic and so tasty. For the main I had Wild mushroom and leek risotto, and for dessert I had chocolate brownie with ice-cream and strawberries. All of the food was freshly cooked to order and this was evident thorough the taste. The portion sizes are just perfect and the staff are very attentive. I enjoyed every bit of my meal there. Although there was some confusion with the bill and the waiter, and it seemed that they was struggling to sort it, so I ended up paying more than I actually should have paid. But the food was exquisite so didn't bother me too much. Compliments to the chef at the Normanton Inn.

It to 3 e-mails to book and have final confirmation; ; and my surname was incorrect on the table reservation plan; and no record of my wife's birthday as mentioned on my final e-mail. This was mentioned to the waitress during the meal which resulted in one small candle stuck into her dessert. We were given no choice of (cold) bread rolls and there was insufficient accompanying butter on the table. The staff were excellent being mostly young, friendly and enthusiastic ensuing an easy rapport. Better training is needed as menus were offered firstly to the men and then to the women in our small group. In addition, to get desserts and coffee we had to leave our seats and find someone to come to serve us. The food was excellent and well cooked and presented, but the vegetables consisted of a very small kale leaf and one carrot. The lamb two of us chose was done to perfection, was succulent and couldn't be faulted, and it was the same with the battered haddock and risotto. The starters and desserts were of similar high quality although the celery accompanying my cheese was somewhat stringy and cut from stems towards the outside of the plant. The dining room was draughty as the majority of tables were situated around the windows of the conservatory - which appeared not to be double glazed - cold air streamed down the backs of those unfortunate to sit against rather than facing, the outside. The corridors and lounge areas were on their way to drab and lacking in ambience. On a cold winter's night, a roaring fire might have made all the difference.

There was everything we wanted in Thoresby Hall Hotel so we didn't roam far away. However, on Sunday morning after a stroll round the extensive grounds, we called in the Courtyard Restaurant but had only latte coffees and Toasted Teacakes! The service was prompt and friendly. We asked that our coffee be really hot and very obligingly they microwaved it without any fuss. The welcome was genuine and generous even though our order was small.

Very good food and excellent service. There are craft shops in the courtyard to look and things to buy. There is a glass blower there, wich is interesting, but not open all the time. Art work to see depends on what sort of art you like. We only had a snack in there at the Courtyard.

Very poor food considering how expensive it is. Jacket potato was old and the salad (if you can call it salad as it was just leaves and peppers) was going bad. Service was not great either.

The food was excellent and good value, but the service was poor - it took a long time to get drinks, and there were bread rolls on the floor, which were missed by the staff (picked up by a customer). The garden outside could do with some TLC - weedy lawn and plants not thriving.

Well laid out, offering everything from lunches to just drinks. All food if home made and there is always interesting vegetarian choices.

The service, quantity & quality of food was very good, so much so, it was used by non residents who not only came to the shops, but to eat at the restaurant

Although only a half an hour from home, happened upon this restaurant after a long journey. The restaurant was fast becoming busy but the young lady at the front desk called Amelia, was extremely kind and offered us a table and said there was no rush to vacate. All meals are chalked on a very large board and it didn't take us long to decide what to order. We settled on the braised pork shoulder, never tasted anything so delicious, followed by a panacotta and a brulee All three girls that served us were very professional, curtious and attentive without being obtrusive..Would return and certainly bring friends and highly recomend this place, Thankyou

Poor staff ruined the experience. They had not been properly trained, very unprofessional. Had to ask for wine, bread, water etc. several times, whilst a hostess/manager (?) wandered around doing nothing. Food itself was trying too hard, too many layers and flavours, none of which can through, and very fatty. Chef needs some more training from someone who can cook. Very expensive for what it was. No atmosphere, it's in what feels like a suburban conservatory with very beige decor and awful furnishings. Chairs were incredibly uncomfortable! It seemed dated although it was newly refurbished.

Visited this restaurant for our wedding anniversary with family. It is a beautiful setting and an elegant dining room and it was almost completely empty when we arrived and thus was completely lacking it atmosphereThe menu was just one flimsy sheet of A4 which looked a bit unprofessional and the waiter did not know what gribiche was even when he had been to the kitchen to ask! Afterthey had taken our order they asked if we would like to order vegetables, we were under the impression tha t these were included and there was no mention of what was available or the prices for them on the menu. The service was very slow and the portion sizes very variable depending on the dish, tiny watercress ballotines but huge plates of risotto! The waiter also managed to serve the parmesan crisp after mt brother in law had finished eating his soup!We eventually gave up waiting for them to collect our bill and took it out into the reception to pay. This then took an age as their terminal was not working well. All in all a sophisticated meal but expensive with under trained staffTop tip: Dont order the Berry Eton Mess. we were served a few raspberries, strawberries and ? blueberries on a huge white plate with a few smears of cream and a few bits of broken meringue. Not good value, I could have made better myself at home!

The courtyard, at first glance, appeared expensive at over £6 for a jacket and £9 for salad but they were plentiful and tasty accompanied with pasta salad coleslaw etc. Table serviced and licensed it was a nice experience, no chips though if you have children that fancy them.

My friend and I ate here whilst staying at the hotel. The decor was nice enough in the restaurant and the staff were pleasant (although to be honest a bit under trained). However I'm surprised by the reviews from people who enjoyed the food. I'm no food snob, although I do love eating out, but we found it very poor quality. We both had soup which was pleasant enough but our mains were really not nice at all. I had pasta which was soooo overcooked it was soggy and very bland. My friend had fish - again it was bland and in her words had a sauce which "tasted like uncle bens sweet and sour". For desert we had ice cream which was grainy and cheap tasting. If you like your food and enjoy eating out I'd be surprised if this is the restaurant for you.

Recently tried to visit for a meal out with our parents. Rang at lunchtime to book a table for 6 for 7.30 that evenin. We arrived at 7 pm after a 25 mile journey for ourselves, one set of parents travelled 70 mile and the other set 5 mile only to be told that the booking was for 2 people and not 6 !! We were made to feel that as far as they were concerned this was due to a mistake on our part and not theirs. No appology was made on their part as far as they were concerned they were unable to fit us in and the manager even said that there were plenty of places to eat nearby. I have given a lot of thought to this incident and wonder if because we were using a taster card that would have given us 50% off four of the meals that the hotel bumped us off the list for people that would be paying full price !!! Overall a very disappointing display by the staff we won't be going back

Visited for the first time on Sunday 25th March for Sunday lunch.Choice very good and value for money excellent, 14.50 for three choices, although out could have one, two or three courses, whatever you preferred. It was all vey nice and local produce is used by the chef.We were also greeted by the manager of the restaurant to ask us our opinions etc and thoughts, a nice touch we thought. The courtyard restaurant is lovely and airy and on Sunday the sun shining so even better. Normally Sunday lunch is served in the normanton inn but this was shut due to technical issues. On speaking with the manager we discussed which room would be better and all agreed the courtyard restaurant. We will definitely visit again.

An amazing little cafe, a real asset to Worksop. We’ve been 3 times now, and had wonderful experiences each time. The food is fresh and delicious, and the staff are incredibly friendly. The menu is great, I’m spoilt for choice. Highly recommended. 10/10 👍
