The best restaurants in Alfreton Amber Valley East Midlands

Called in yesterday for coffee and cake. I remembered the lady from being there last time. She was busy prepping for a birthday party but squeezed us in. The level of service she provides is off the scale, the best for miles around! She is SO lovely and friendly, and made everyone feel so welcome. I don't come to Alfreton that often, but would always have at least a coffee. She reminded me not to bother with anywhere else, when the Pottery is just the best.

We ordered from the restaurant in February 2022 as it has a reputation for being one of the best chinese takeaways in the area, and we weren't disappointed - the ribs were some of the best I've tasted and the kung pow chicken was served with generous pieces of chicken breast and lightly toasted cashews - delicious! The owner was friendly and we had a nice chat while I was waiting for my food. There's no online website or menu currently but it's worth a look if you're in the area!

Didn't have any food as I was there after going to a friends funeral. Very nice inside and a lot bigger than it looks.

Best mixed meat kebab in town. Nothing even comes close to it, all 3 meats are amazing.

Popped into Thapas last night and the staff instantly gave us a warm welcome. The food was beautifly spiced, good portions and well presented. I would definitely recommend a visit here.

Went with daughter they forgot two items ordered found to be very expensive for what got plus very small portions Do not know why returned as previously scones so hard could not cut into inedible

Cracking little pub. Great selection of live bands on Sundays. Decent beer as well!! Not had food there so can't rate it...

Absolutely love Taj. We’ve been a few times as a family and the food and service is excellent. Really friendly and the two girls serving are friendly and knowledgeable the food never disappoints.

We went for take away and really enjoyed our meal. I'm not Cealiac but am wheat intolerant. I was prepared just to have chips, but the owner was very kind and cooked me a beautiful pan fried piece of fish in olive oil. It was absolutely delicious! The chips were also not greasy, and were also very, very tasty. Next time we are in the area, we will definitely be going back. The owner was very welcoming too.

Everything was amazing, but every time I order boba they have hardly anything in..

Visited here 22 February 2025 and highly recommend it for the friendly service from start to when we left, and the delicious food with the perfect blend of spices to give enough heat. We usually like medium/hot. It was a delight to not have loads of added salt which I usually get with vegetarian food. I would definitely return.
