Called in yesterday for coffee and cake. I remembered the lady from being there last time. She was busy prepping for a birthday party but squeezed us in. The level of service she provides is off the scale, the best for miles around! She is SO lovely and friendly, and made everyone feel so welcome. I don't come to Alfreton that often, but would always have at least a coffee. She reminded me not to bother with anywhere else, when the Pottery is just the best.

We stopped here whilst passing through Alfreton. What a lovely friendly cafe. We had tea, cappuccino, cheese scone, fruit scone and a Maltese Slice. The cheese scone came with Caramalised Onion chutney, the fruit scone had real Clotted Cream and jam. Everything was delicious, drinks were hot and the waitress told us about the pottery classes that they run. They do Paninis, sandwiches, jacket potatoes, soup and a great selection of cakes, the chocolate cake and carrot cake looked particularly yummy 😋. Recommended.

The Pottery Tearooms on the fringes of nondescript Alfreton in Derbyshire has to be one of the town’s most pleasant spots for coffee, morning or afternoon tea, or a light lunch! We’ve walked and driven past it many times, but only ventured in today for the first time, for a warming coffee on a very chilly frosty morning. What a delightful spot: a bright, spacious and warm tearoom, with a variety of seating areas. There’s nicely spaced tables and chairs, a very homely lounge area with comfortable chairs and sofa, and for the warmer weather, a lovely outside area. The tearoom is a part of a potter’s studio; there was a pottery class taking place in the studio, and the tearoom itself serves as a delightful gallery for the pottery produced in the studio. There were shelves stocked with interesting pieces for purchase, though it all fitted nicely into the overall decor of the tearoom, rather than being a ‘hard sell’ addition to it. Indeed, all the crockery used in the tearoom is produced in the studio. We were warmly welcomed by the hostess; her care of all guests was exemplary (even for a little one, for whom she fetched a high chair, some paper and painting materials and a protective smock). The barista style coffee was excellent; the espresso came (appropriately) in a tiny cup made in the pottery studio. And whilst we didn’t eat, there was a delicious range of cakes, slices, scones and light meals (sandwiches, jacket potatoes and the like) available, along with a very impressive range of exotic tea blends. And for only £3.50 for two well-made coffees, it was a bargain. The tearoom is on the corner of Nottingham Road and Whycliffe Road’ opposite the entrance to Lidl. You’d probably be able to park on Whycliffe Road. It’s worth a visit, and provides a pleasant alternative to some of the nondescript and large chain cafes in Alfreton’s town centre. We’ll definitely be back to explore its food options a little further,

8 of us came here for my mum's 60th birthday. We all painted a pot, made a bowl on the wheel (with some help!) and enjoyed a fantastic afternoon tea. The whole experience was so much fun and the food was delicious.

Enjoyed a lovely afternoon tea at The Pottery today with friends. Delicious sandwiches (with the crusts cut off), scones with jam and clotted cream, a selection of cakes and a drink. All served on hand-made plates made at the pottery. This was a lovely treat and I would definitely recommend it.

We were fortunate enough to find this gem where myself and two young children were welcomed for an early lunch and a pot of delicious tea. Everything was freshly made, quickly produced and beautifully served on their handmade pottery. We had a little sample of the home made brownie and blondies which were delicious. It's a clean, comfortable and welcoming tea room with friendly staff and had we had time, there was a lovely pottery studio for children and adults to paint our own pottery from a large selection. Easy parking in the road right outside or opposite at Lidl.

Don't want to tell you how good it is as I don't want everyone to come in & spoil this lovely little place. The kids club is great, the children get to make pieces & paint a pot, they also get to go on the shell and make something. David is fantastic with children....well everyone really.Hannah & Kerry are fabulous, the food is great & service with a smile. They cater for gluten free which is a refreshing change for us.Great food, lovely cream teas and well worth a visit.

I have been to this cafe many times and it is relaxing and a total departure from the rest of Alfreton. It took me a while living in near the area before I stumbled upon this lovely place. The cafe has a bit of a holiday feel to it and you soon forget you are actually in Alfreton. It is tasteful, friendly and the cakes are great. Hot food very good and home made. If you want a sausage cob feel free to visit one of the tacky plastic table and chair affairs in the centre of Alfreton. The pottery fits well with the overall feel of the place. It is great for kids parties as they get to grips with making their own pots. It all seems very wholesome for the children. Some soft seating at the back of the cafe encourages you to pick up a newspaper or read while enjoying a proper cup of tea. If you find yourself visiting Alfreton for some reason and need refreshing then I recommend a visit to The Pottery or Dave's Potters as it's locally known.

Met here with a small group of people, not knowing the area, I got a bit lost and did not know where to park, future customers should just park in Lidl across the road! I had afternoon tea which consisted of a sandwich, scone with cream and jam and a pot of tea. Although the bread was obviously fresh and the ham tasty, the sandwich sadly, overall was a bit dry. The scone however was delicious with enough cream and jam to cover it. The tea came in a small pot which did not hold much, about one and a half cups, I did ask for more hot water but sadly the tea then came out very weak! The café itself was pleasant with lots of pottery and gifts on show to purchase. The array of homemade cakes also looked very good. Perhaps I will visit again and try the cake.

I was delighted to discover this hidden gem today. It's a bit hidden away but once inside this is a surprisingly spacious cafe with a relaxed, friendly atmosphere and the opportunity to get creative with pottery and purchase a few gifts too. My friend and I had a hot drink each but the cakes looked fantastic and we will be back at lunch time to try the food. This is another great addition to Alfreton. We fully intend to continue supporting it!

David is a great pottery expert and sells his work, along with other craft type gifts and unusual quirky cards etc in the shop atached to his art studio. It is a one floor, small area but prettily decorated in simple colours to allow the art work to show itself off! You can have a nice brew and slab of cake and sit at a little quaint table and catch up with friends or even beter, if you have children, book them in to one of the pottery classes he runs while you sit in the next room enjoying a flick through a magazine in peace and quiet! He is great with the children and my son had a field day as a youngster going on ~Saturdays to learn how to glaze pieces and then build pots and scupltures - David is very patient and lets the children be as creative as they want, letting them learn from experiments that trying to build houses on stilts wont work etc once they have been fired in the kiln etc whilst encouraging them to see what wilol work. He is that rare mix of patience and entertainment that kids warm to and he immediately creates a calm warm atmosphere that remains with you when you leave the cafe - an ideal stop off as you shop or a place to make that special journey to to relax, tire the kids out for an hour and find the odd gem of a gift for the people in your life that you can never seem to find something to buy them!Qite simply i wish i could go more often!

My friend and I found this by googling cafe's in Alfreton - it has a website: http://davids-pottery.co.uk. It has a lovely bright friendly atmosphere. Coffee, tea, cakes etc, all served on David's pottery. We didn't go for lunch but it serves snacks too. Fenced secluded gravel garden at the back, with pots of flowers, a sunshade over the large wooden table. We felt it was a spot of peace and serenity and a real find. David also sells some craft jewellery and handbags, as well as stained glass 'pictures'.

Visited this pub whilst staying at a local holiday park. The menu is very limited and no prices displayed for the food. (Chips, burger, sausage and chips chicken nuggets, chip butty or toastie) We waited about 45 minutes for the food and when it arrived it was served on a cold plate and was very disappointing was also expensive for what we ordered (we should have asked prices before ) Will not be returning unfortunately.

Been many times before lockdown and so so glad to see it open again. It’s the best place for a home cooked breakfast, it’s pristine, service is fantastic. They also do homemade cakes, tried the cornflake tart just lovely. I can’t fault it 👌

This is our "local" and has been transformed under new management since our move to Belper 2 years ago. Now in 21stC taking card payments not just cash, very nice atmosphere, dog-friendly, welcoming staff. We had pizzas on a Tues night with special offer on cask beer and they were great! Feels like a real genuine local and they are also expanding the evening menu shortly. Also the advantage of a much shorter uphill walk home than going into town! Keep up the good work Mark and Viv.
