Taj Indian Restaurant in Amber Valley

Visited here 22 February 2025 and highly recommend it for the friendly service from start to when we left, and the delicious food with the perfect blend of spices to give enough heat. We usually like medium/hot. It was a delight to not have loads of added salt which I usually get with vegetarian food. I would definitely return.

Totally awesome meal today for Christmas Day. We had been working so the restaurant accommodated us and stayed open later. We enjoyed a good variety of food from the buffet which was hot and tasty. Even cooked fresh starters for us. Good service and good value for money. Will defiantly be going again.

First time coming to taj definitely won't be the last. The food was amazing perfect temperature good portions nicely priced.

Food was delicious but service is terrible not welcoming staff not recommend for couples I’m giving 3 stars only for service been here so many times we will try again for the last time

Went with the boss following a meeting , place was nice on entry , staff pleasant , ordered food n drinks, the food I’ve got to say was excellent, we even ordered a takeaway for my wife, all sorted for when we left

The worst food I have ever recieved as a vegetarian. Ordered Amirtsai Chole Main. Recieved Channa Massala (not even labelled as what I ordered) . Literally just chickpeas in curry sauce. Not even with potato. Punjab Veg Biryani just rice, peas, onions and sauce. Both of those dishes at £8 each. Papadum and pickle tray with just 2 papdums. So disappointing.

Our experience here on Sunday was exceptional from start to finish. We called in as were staying at the Travelodge on way home to Leeds from Alton Towers. The waitress was so friendly and made such an effort. All the food was faultless from the popodums and chutneys to the naanwich my sons (age 10.and 12) shared, the lamb keebab sizzler, curry recommended to my husband and the paneer curry i had. We all sampled a bit of everything and it was so fresh and delicious. It made a stop over night very memorable, we had never been to Alfreton before but agreed we'd be back for another curry one day!!! Thank you.

This is the best indian around, thought ide try it out with my dad yesterday and i can strongly say it is the best ive ever had. The tika masala was creamy bit still with a hint of spice and the service was realy good and speedy. Was i bit quiet when i got there but livened up towards the end, but it was a wednesday so probably not a busy day. Highly reccommend, family friendly.

This is our second visit to Taj and both times the food has been excellent, the menu is very different to most local Indian restaurants, very authentic rather than English Indian cuisine. The service is friendly and efficient. I would recommend this and already have to friends and family. I am so very impressed with this restaurant.

Had a takeaway last night - unfortunately 1 rice was missing, after around 20 mins we managed to get through to the restaurant to let them know, they said they’d send with the driver and put in complimentary poppadoms. It’s now the following morning and they’ve not arrived! Very poor customer service. A shame as the currys were tasty but we couldn’t enjoy without enough rice (1 between 3!) With an order of over £50, I wouldn’t have thought a quick trip with our rice - that we’d paid for, would be much trouble

Food here is super tasty and they have lots of really good veggie options. Friendly family atmosphere, all the staff are friendly and helpful.

Food was poor. Take out delivered. Now the keep texting me. Tried to unsubscribe but they want all my details! Blocked the caller but they still text me!!

We visited on a weekend evening, it wasn't busy in the restaurant but the kitchen was very busy with delivery orders. We shared a naan and rice and had a curry dish each and were very satisfied. Try the vegetable momos :)

First time at this restaurant and it was fantastic food beautiful staff very good A+ The decor was a bit bland But as I said the food and service where out of this world . On ordering our meals they where swift and very efficient see you again soon

Excellent food and great staff, spotlessly clean, one of best Indians I've had in a long time. Deffinatly will be going back, keep up the great standard.

We didn’t dine in but had a take away for our first time . We ordered on line , it arrived quickly , hot and well packed . The food was really nice and we hope it remains that way . Several Indian restaurants in the past start off ok then quality really drops off . So for now I would say give them a try , we certainly will be making a 2nd order or eat in ,

Very nice and a little bit different, good food, reasonably priced and good service. We tried it last week then ordered a take away this week. Food was very good on both occasions although we did get a delivery charge on the take away which isn't what they advertise on menu which says over 20 pounds is free under 3 miles. The seating in the restaurant is comfortable and nicely laid out and the drinks are also reasonably priced

Food was great. The service was great our waiter was very attentive. The mixed grill was very tasty and flavourful. The handi gosht curry had great texture and flavour to it. The place was clean and dust free. Will definitely visit again
