Royal Ghurka in Amber Valley

The food was amazing and I highly recommend the chicken corma and the chicken tikka.The woman who served us was really kind and patient even after a spillage of yummy lemonade.It was very quiet in the restaurant and there were beautiful paintings on the walls.

After a bad experience a few years ago we heard this restaurant was under new management so we decided to try it and wasn't disappointed. The food was amazing with generous portions and the staff were efficient and friendly. I would highly recommend this place to anyone

First time ordering. Delivery was quick. Ordered the lamb khari. The lamb was perfect and the flavour was good. Will definitely go for a sit down meal next time.

Put 2 stars on just eat. This was a mistake and my son did this as he was not happy with his chicken byriani. But I liked it. Good food and large portions Unfortunately can't take just eat review off but will order again.

Bland food, tinned spinach. Avoid

Very disappointed. Ordered on Uber Eats. I wondered if the discounted offered reflected in the quality of food ? The order arrived very quickly and we did order very early evening. Everything was hot. But everything was horrible. My example is Bombay Potatoes. Which is normally a fairly dry dish. This was very few potatoes in lots and lots of sauce. Chilli paneer was too much sauce. Everything was sauce sauce sauce. This place may be better in the restaurant but not as a takeaway.

Firstly, this restaurant is in Langley Mill not Heanor. We visited this evening after seeing the recent facebook posts regarding their new all you can eat buffet. I initially booked for 6 people then rang back to make it 8. When we arrived at 5pm there were only 3 tables set up downstairs - a six, a two and an eight. The table of 2 were just finishing as we arrived. We were seated on the eight table directly in the window. The drinks menu was on the table however most soft drinks arent listed on this. I ordered a diet coke & despite the menu saying 330ml was asked if I wanted a pint. The buffet could have done with a bit of explaining. It was a help yourself ordeal. There were poppadoms and dips at the beginning then two ban maries of 5 trays each. The first 5 contained chilli chicken, vegetable spring rolls, vegetable samosas, chicken pakoras and vegetable noodles. The spring rolls and samosas were very bland & most definitely fried from frozen. The pakoras were nice as was the chilli chicken but there was hardly any meat in the tray. The second ban marie contained chicken tikka masala, generic lamb curry, chickpea curry and pilau rice. We noticed there was no naan breads on the buffet so ordered these separately. Given this is a nepalese and indian restaurant it was very disappointing to find no Nepalese dishes. One chicken, one lamb and one veg main is also highly disappointing given the facebook post states over 10 dishes to try. I don’t consider pilau rice a dish to try & it would be nice to have a boiled rice option. What was most disappointing was the drinks prices when we eventually got the bill. £4.95 for a pint of diet coke, poured from a bottle not even on pump and the same for a lime and soda. I questioned whether this was correct and the waitress confirmed it was. She did remove it from the bill when another member of our group pointed out how expensive it was but its certainly put me off. Its a shame as we’ve had lots of good takeaways from here but when you’re saving £10 on two soft drinks alone by not eating in it makes sense to stay at home.

Royal Gurkha is one of the best curry houses in the area. We have had multiple experiences of dining in the restaurant and having food delivered. Exceptional flavour every time and the naan breads are always a highlight. Would never go anywhere else.

Wow wow wow! What an incredible place!! We came tonight, I rang last minute as we had a nightmare & the team fit us in and got us a table for 8! The food was absolutely incredible and portions were huge, we all had goody bags for home. They went the extra mile for my partners birthday and went and got him a cake. So kind and caring. A beautiful team also. Can’t wait to make this my new favourite place to go now we have moved here. Thank you so so much xxx

Been tonight to celebrate my daughters birthday. The food was amazing, the staff were very polite, the service was excellent when we had finished eating they came out with a cake singing Happy birthday and gave her a liquor. I can't thank them enough for tonight thank you. Sharon

The service given was exceptional, the ladies were very polite, caring and talkative with us, they even suprised us with a cake for my mum’s birthday. Thank you to them and the chefs for the meal, it was truly delicious.

The food was OK, however both myself and my wife thought our different meals were over sweet, the service was quite slow but the staff were friendly enough. All in all it was average at best. No plans to return.

Waited 3 hours for them to deliver a takeaway and when it finally came there were items missing. Their curries did not have much meat in them either, they basically serve expensive sauces with poor customer service

Just returned from our first visit couldn't fault the food and service everything was freshly cooked and delicious will be returning soon

A small group of us are here between Christmas & New Year. Service was prompt, food was delicious and licensed so Cobra available. Had the Saag Masu with lamb, it was beautifully cooked and flavoursome with a nice kick. Will be back.

Had a takeaway boxing day and it was excellent, we had set meal for 2 and what a great idea didn't skimp on food and plenty for 3, giving you choices of curries for all palates. Will definitely do this again and soon we'll done .

First time time sitting in to eat food and service were fantastic. Restaurant was ok could do with a little updating and lights were not working in the toilets. However i guess it has been a rush to get everything at least back together and operating since the flooding.

I ordered a takeaway. I have spent a lot of money with this restaurant and my last takeaway was £72.00. The meal was good, although the meals are predominately sauce with very little meat. My wife likes the food, so I accepted this. However, this is a customer-orientated business and when spending money, I expect a certain level of service. If I had known how rude the driver would be, I would not have given him a tip.

Today's the third delivery I've had from Royal Gurkha and every time the food has been excellent. It's made with top quality ingredients, arrived on time and piping hot and was plentiful. This evening they forgot the peshwari nan and before I'd even opened the food another driver arrived with it. I highly recommend this takeaway and delivery service.

We had a lovely meal at the Royal Ghurka. I have intolerance issues with garlic and very spicy food. I was impressed when the waiter reassured me that they could cook my curry without garlic and alter the dish to mildly spicy. The meal was delicious and just how I wanted it. Thank you for being so accommodating without any fuss. Great service and delicious food. We will look forward to a return visit.

Due to high volume of business, our order was not quite ready for collection at the time stated, however we are more than happy with the service received, was kept updated with my order and they had even brought the food out to the car which I was not expecting, very professional service, keep up the good work guys

1st time at this restaurant had take away . Delivered quickly and driver was pleasant and polite . Had special biriyani and nan and onion bhajis. Everything was lovely and fresh . Only thing I'd say is that the biriyani could of done with a little more flavouring as I could only just taste the spices that create that lovely biriyani flavour. Still I'm definitely going to order again. Thanks to the staff for a lovely meal .

We went for a Friday night meal because we were in the area. We were really impressed by the quality of the food as well as the friendliness of the staff. The Lamb Gurkha was tender and full of flavour and highly recommended. The Chicken Bhutwa had a rich tomato base, slightly sweet and not too hot. The complementary coconut rum to finish was also a really nice touch. If you are in Langley Mill, it's well worth a visit!

Popped in to collect a takeaway. Packed full of meat and delicious. Good onion Bhaji. Nice nan bread. New owner very nice and chatty. And they have various offers for dining in. We will deffo be going again.

We're on holiday and decided on a take away as the pubs around were not very inspiring. The owner was very hospitable and welcoming, food was plentiful and we had leftovers the next day. Meat was chunky and tender and the sauces really tasty. Sadly its a 3hr drive from us 😞 Thank you for lovely food

Went on the 24th of Feb with a party of 16 people (we had already pre ordered)but the service and food was spot on all the party said how good the meal was and just a word for the waiter who was doing all the serving on his own did a brilliant job WELL DONE

This is the best curry place I've ever been to, the food is always spot on. Susan gave us a free onion bhaji and it was beautiful. The chicken is always cooked moist and the peshwari nan is amazing.

Ordered a curry on a Saturday night for our 1st family treat in our new home we had just moved into. Ordered and paid at 7.50pm and by 9.30 still no meal. Driver then rang to say he was at my door but no one there and no answer at restaurant. Driver then rings again to say he was at different house with same street name 5 miles away...still no answer at restaurant. A driver eventually turns up say he's sorry and dropped off our freezing cold food at 10.35pm...im writing this review because ITS THE 2ND TIME THEY'VE DONE THIS TO US...NEVER AGAIN

We order takeaway, either for delivery or collection, regularly. We have NEVER been disappointed with any of our food! Everything is always brought to our house warm, everything always tastes amazing and everyone is always so kind and helpful! If you ever happen to be in the area, please try this takeaway!!

Onion bhaji - burnt Tikka masala - chicken dry Somosa - next to no filling Popadoms - soft Nan bread - cold and tough Ordered pickle tray - No pickle tray…. £50 was spent here as a treat and I wish we’d have just cooked at home was bloody awful.

Absolutely love this place. My favourite is prawn methi and for a change last week I had a prawn vindaloo. It was beautiful. Can I ask though - I’d never had a vindaloo before and was up for something a bit hotter than usual but the heat was barely there - it was more like a masala. Can I request it to be vindaloo hot next time and not just taste? Will be back again very soon. Jordan

Visited last night first visit there and I have to say the food was fantastic and staff so polite . I would definitely visit again.

Would be a zero rating if it was allowed - when 30 minutes over agreed timescales - chased twice in and told ‘on its way’ on both occasions - was assured it was ‘heat packed’ but driver eventually arrived with food in an Aldi carrier bag! Won’t be ordering from here again!

We normally dine inside but decided on a takeaway, big mistake. The onion bhaji were awful. Normally they are nice and crispy but these were really sloppy, tasteless and swam in grease, they were just a whole onion dipped in coating and fried, instead of shredded onion packed together in coating. They tasted absolutely awful, nothing but grease. Curry and mixed platter ok. Won't be ordering as a takeaway again. Really let themselves down on this occasion.
