Found this restaurant by chance, it was superb, food was excellent, staff friendly well worth a visit

We have lived in Langley Mill for 4 years and every time we visit the Royal Gurkha we are not disappointed. The food is freshly cooked with authentic taste and good quality, especially for the prices you pay. If you want quality food then this is the place to go, total value for money!. From start to finish we cannot fault this little gem of a restaurant. We have not ordered a take away but friends & people we know have and they same the same. Give it a try, you won’t be disappointed

This is a proper hidden gem. Meals brilliant. Nice pint of draft Cobra beer. The restaurant not to small just cosy. Not to expensive. The decore nicely done with toilets up stairs. A small selection of English meals. Ghurka & Indian meals.The only draw back I didn't notice a carpark,Just parked in Asda carpark across the road.

Four of us went to the Royal Ghurka on Saturday evening for the first time. Definitely won't be the last. We had poppadoms and pickles for starters.. followed by Nepalese curries. These tasted so fresh..so lovely..and washed down with cold beers. We were made very welcome. The restaurant is spotlessly clean.and the staff in the kitchen were in spotless whites. Definitely going back..soon I hope. Highly recommended.

Had my husbands 60th birthday party at the Royal Gurkha, the food and service was excellent, nothing was too much trouble, our party was for 35 family members. Would highly recommend, thank you Sam, family and staff you did yourselves proud.

One of the best Indian restaurants I've been too. There were 9 of us ex military together for a meal. Welcome by staff very friendly. Drinks ordered and brought promptly, Service throughout was excellent. Starters were absolutely delicious - can't have chilli personally and this was taken care of with the dish still having a bit of bite from other spices, and a good size dish. So much so that most of us couldn't finish main courses. All of it was excellent and when we asked if there was a military discount - there was, so even better; though I guess by the time tips were given the amount was about what they would have recieved anyway. We will be back next year when we attend RTTW event at the National Memorial Aboretum.

Came here for a birthday party a few weeks back, had the whole restaurant to ourselves. The service was excellent, the staff were very attentive. The food was delicious, we were a large party so we each got 3 curries per table to try and I couldn’t fault them they were lovely! Thank you!

We hired the restaurant out tonight for a surprise 21st birthday meal and we couldn’t recommend this restaurant enough! The staff were amazing and so helpful right from the very beginning, they helped us to decorate the room and couldn’t do enough for us once everyone was in and being served. The food was amazing and their was plenty of it, everyone was so impressed and it was great value for money catering for adults right down to toddlers! We will most definitely be returning and recommending to others. Thank you to all the staff again for making my boyfriends birthday so special!

Large order placed with the restaurant for a delivery which arrived before the stated delivery time. This is by far one of the best curry's I have had. The food was delicious and arrived piping hot. I have eaten from here a few times and have never veen disappointed.

Ordered food, was told 50 minutes for delivery, after 1 hour 10 we called to which we were told driver on way, after 1hr 30 rang to be told driver “should be there” and after 2 hours phones were then taken off the hook and uncontactable, disgusting service, all people want is honesty!

Outstanding food! Thoroughly enjoyed the lamb Bhuna, highly recommended. Service was nice, and the beer they have on tap is really nice ( even though I’ve never heard of it before!) would definitely go again

We thought we’d try this place for a change, blown away with level of service and quality of food. The staff are thoroughly obliging and attentive. The food was bursting with new flavours. What I ordered wasn’t even on the menu, I just happened to ask about a shaslik and that’s what I got. Highly recommended. Two clean plates from us! I’ve had one or two deliveries from this place and they were excellent so i thought why not try inside to. So we went in and didn’t book a table. It was very busy and we had to wait five minute for a table . The staff were very polite and comfortable to be around, knowing I had my little son with me. We were told it was very busy so the food would take a little time, however we weren’t in a rush what so ever. IT WAS WORTH THE WAIT. I am in love with this restaurant.

Hi tonight I made my order online and got it ordered for 18:40 we live in Hucknall and travel to Langley mill as we have always enjoyed our curry’s from here. Will not be returning at all again my partner got there and they couldn’t find our order having to show them our order again that I made and paid for online and then have to wait 20 minutes till it’s ready when I paid and booked online. Do not at all trust there website order system!!! Tonight’s curry has been a disaster my pop Dom‘s was all burnt I never received my free pickle dip as it saids clearly on there webpage if you spend over £20 my partners curry was all sloppy and didn’t taste the same. He hasn’t ate it and has gone in the bin after me ringing them up and them not being bothered We also ordered cheese and garlic nan bread we got just cheese nan bread NOT GARLIC!!! Nothing got sorted about it over the phone it was just awful. Never leave feedback but I had to for this am not happy at all.

After ordering take away we decided to visit and have sit down meal. We were not disappointed. Great flavours, unusual dishes not had before, which to say we try most authentic indian/asian dishes is a first!Sam was very attentative, polite and very welcoming. I can honestly day that the food here is fantastic.Excellent service and a lovely clean environment.Smaller menu than typical Indian restaurant, but this Gurkha Himalayas style range is slightly different, but oh so very tasty and proper quality ingredients... I really could tell.Its a bit more ££ than other local Asian restaurants, but we'll worth it we thought.Give them a try!

have been driving past this place for 8 years and often wondered if I should give it a go based on reviews from Google and TripAdvisor I thought I would give it a go but I will not be doing again. I Bought 6 different types of veg curries and they all taste the same with the same tomatoe base mix.There's nothing I dislike more than a curry house that uses a base mix for all their curries ..you can not taste any spices garlic and ginger in any of the dishes. Theres not separation at all.Very bland. Very dissapointed.

Warm and welcoming, authentic delicious Indian food that just invites you to go back for more and the service was top notch. No bad points whatsoever and I can undoubtedly say that we’ve definitely found our new curry house hands down 👌🏻

Both my partner and I love Nepalese food. It was a nice surprise when we noticed there is a restaurant like that so close to home. We ordered a home delivery. Food arrived very quickly and the delivery person was extremely happy and cheerful! As to the food. It was amazing! I think we have found a beautiful gem of a restaurant! Maybe next time we will visit and experience the place in person!

The staff here are very welcoming and attentive, you can tell they take great pride in the service and food they offer. The meal was lovely and I was able to change one of my favourite dishes to a vegetarian option without an issue. It’s a great local restaurant that I keep returning to.

We have been attending the Erewash Canal Festival this weekend and we had been told this place did a great curry so on Friday we went in and were were not disappointed! I fancied a warm drink and, when in India I love a proper chai (spiced tea). It wasn't on the menu but I asked if they could make me one and sure enough a gorgeous cup of hot chai was served. The food was really excellent and the service is very friendly too. I mentioned to some of the other volunteers who were due to come on Sunday how good the curry had been and they asked me to book a table for them to go on Sunday so we joined them! Once again I had a wonderful hot cup of chai and we had some different dishes this time too - all were really good and our friends agreed. I wish we lived closer!

We went in and being being vegiterians was given the option of a smaller meal as it was late at night. Savita was brilliant and helped with the menu choices. Always friendly and welcoming. Nothing is too much trouble. Would definitely come again and recommend to any one

We went for dinner last night and took our two year old son. The waiter was very polite and professional and the restaurant owner was very friendly and welcoming. He came out to greet us and a made a special effort to welcome our little boy bringing popadoms to keep him busy. There was a good menu and the food was delicious and tasted home made with good quality ingredients. My husband has been to Nepal in the past and loves the food there and said this was excellent and tasted authentic. We really recommend this restaurant and will definitely visit again.

Ordered online which was very easy, good menu not too much choice - just right. Countdown shows expected delivery time and it arrived early. Plenty of meat in dishes, very nice lamb - overall a very nice meal and would thoroughly recommend.

From when you walk in and are greeted to when you leave the staff are friendly and welcoming. The food is delicious and very good helpings, it's probably best to share. You can also order half portions so can try different flavours

The food at Royal Gurkha was fantastic. I would recommend the Kathmandu Chefs Special & Rani Machha they were amazing. I would definitely go there again and advise anyone to and try the food.

we did some 12 miles to visit this place just to be disappointed, i had butter chicken my friend had chicken korma, the sauces where the same! my butter chicken had never been butter chicken. i expect a standardized sauce for a korma but not for what i consider a speciality dish.looking at what other people had the sauces where the same, zero effort put into this cooking.nans and rice where nice and service good, drinks a bit expensive.not be going here again..

Ordered a takeaway from here for the first time for myself and two hungry teenagers. Beautiful food and plenty of it. Very helpful and polite staff. Delivered on time. Everyone very happy. Thoroughly recommended. Enjoy!!!

After becoming disappointed with other local Indian restaurants in the area we decided to try this one purely after reading the great reviews on here.We didn’t book and just turned up in the hope they could fit us in, they did so with no problem.The menu has a range of chefs specials and traditional Nepalese dishes along with the usual Indian dishes too. The food was amazing, generous portions and extremely tasty. The service was great too, very polite and attentive staff. Prices are also pretty reasonable.I can highly recommend this restaurant, as we love Indian (Nepalese) food, we will definitely become regular customers here.

Easy booking system. From the moment we arrived to the minute we left, all the staff were friendly, attentive and so welcoming. Choose between the Nepalese or traditional Indian menu. Staff will advise if the dish is spicy, sour, etc to ensure you make the core t choice. Food was hot, very tasty and generously portioned. Excellent value for money and we will be regulars for sure. We had planned on going to Anoki which is another favourite of ours, but I'm glad we were recommended this place as we definitely made the right choice coming here.

first time visit and very amazed ! as most people know how it is . the food was gorgeous ,and very polite staff . I would like to try every dish knowing how good it will be . also we received very posh service ( the towels ) . I think it is very obvious this is the best Ghurkha and Indian restaurant . recommended !

Spare of the minute meal out turns out to be fab. Beautiful Indian right on the doorstep. Already organising the next visit to return with more friends, we normally travel to Manchester for our curry but this has mad it a whole lot cheaper. Please don't let this place slip.

We have just eaten the best takeaway we've ever had. Amazing quality and value for money. Never had Nepalese before but will be having it again. Next time we are going to the restaurant. The food arrived after half an hour, it was hot and the delivery man was wonderful, very polite and friendly . The food was very, very tasty. I feel so strongly about the quality I had to write this straight away. Please, please try this food, you won't regret it.

Yesterday I went to royal gurkha for a night out . I believe this may be one of the best Gurkha restaurants. The food, service , presentation , staff were brill . The flavours exploded in my mouth . Everyone in my family enjoyed every bite , I will be returning for sure and I recommend this restaurant !!!!

I have eaten in many different gurkha restaurants but Royal gurkha based on Langley mill is one of my favourite. The food was absolutely brilliant and the staff were very kind and helpful. Also there is Asda nearby so is very easy to park your car and you don't have to walk a lot. Highly recommend if you haven't tried here before!!!

I have been to many restaurants and i think this is the number 1 . we went on a Saturday night and it was packed upstairs and down and as soon as i walked in the service was great ! everyone was soo nice and polite , the food was excellent ,time might have been a little long but with how many people in the restaurant i can say it was quick for a busy day . we got some AMAZING dishes the lamb momo was great i enjoyed every mouth . i couldn't wish for a better curry . we even got dessert . i found out this restaurant even does delivery . i do recommend this restaurant to everyone .

Where shall I start ? I came to this family restaurant for the first time and I was impressed. The staff are very caring , quick and reliable . As it was very busy they managed to get us a table really fast . The food was excellent I tried their traditional food , the chhoyla and methi chicken . I have been to many Gurkha restaurants and so far this is the best one . The food is very unique and special. I have been recommended by quite a few times , I think I've made the right choice . Langly mills best restaurant. I will make sure I come to this restaurant. I do recommend this restaurant to everyone.

We used to visit this place before it changed hands. Decided to go today to try it out and extremely pleased with it all. Good friendly service, excellent meals! Couldn't fault it one bit!

This place is really deceptive and looks like a basic Indian restaurant, but the food and service is truly outstanding.Prices are also excellent, but I would pay much more... The food is some of the best that I have experienced anywhere. I had a chicken phall today (powerfully hot and intensely flavoured) and the chicken chhoyla was unusual and delicious (so nice in flavour and texture). I will definitely be back, and would recommend anyone to visit and give it a try.

Went with my husband and son forums restaurant on Saturday 25 March. We could not fault either the service or the food I both were excellent, the food, we will be eating here on a regular basis. Fantastic.

This is a small restaurant with a number of tables, but still enough room not to be on top of each other. The service is good. Staff are genuinely concerned for your satisfaction. The food is pleasant but lacks depth of flavour and seasoning. Nan bread and Chaptis are good. I was warned my chosen dish would be hot and spicy, but warm and wet would be more appropriate.Food presentation is influenced by TV chefs rather than tradition. Drizzles and spoon smears need to be done with extreme care otherwise, as in this case, it looks a mess. Drinks prices are excessive and the range of drinks is bizarre!! They have Midori but no Mineral Water!!?? I would not like to go to this place in a party of more than four people. If a large party was in the restaurant when I arrived - I fear the wait for food to arrive would be very long and I would leave. Good on quiet nights!!!

Visited with friends at the tail end of 2016. Excellent staff , friendly and attentive. Well executed and tasty food . Decent and well priced beer. Clean and well st out. There was a good choice of food and as I recall I had a chicken Madras ( which I always tend to have ) . The curry was good and I had no lasting effects which the Madras can bring. Overall the best Gurkha/Nepalese style restaurant I have been too. Better value than the Buxton one but this is not a heavily touristed area.

When to the royal gurkher last night . The first time under the new ownership. The mehran was good but last night's meal was far superior to that. Excellent well cooked food . Attentive staff but not intrusive. Reasonably priced . All in all welll worth the visit.

First takeaway since the change of ownership. Meal was very good and will go again although a little pricey in my opinion for a takeaway.

I have dined here several times since the change of ownership. The menu is excellent with blends of flavours I have not seen on any menu, as well as the more traditional curries. The staff are friendly and very knowledgeable on the blends of spices and the heat of the food.We ate here on Sunday, it is not a full menu but I love the thali. I would highly recommend if you want a different, tasty Sunday lunch.

me,, my husband and a group of 12 friends visited this royal gurkha for a 50th birthday celebration. we went on recommendation of other friends . its situated on cromford road at langley mill nottingham. my husband made the booking and requested a table upstairs which we got. over the last couple of months we have visited 3 local indian resturants in the local area and although the restuarant jeera at codnor tops the list , this is a very close second. i chose a mix platter starter followed by a gurkha curry with pilau rice and my husband had special bryani we sharde a naan between us , i like how they served the naans already cut , instead of having to pull apart yourself . our friends had various different things off the menu to many to go into and all agreed food was excellent. the service was very good and has a wine drinker found the wine reasonable priced. everyone else had the gurkha beer again no conpliants. service and friendliness of the staff top notch and we would definatly return in the not too distant future. just to had for pre meal drinks a visit to the bunny hop a micropub across the road is an excellent start to the evening nicel priced beers and wines and lots of guest beer fro local micro breweries esp chicken urban ale is worth a try.

We attended here with another couple on a Friday night. We live in Ripley so usually go to the ones there but heard it was good here from friends. The food was brilliant, I'm vegetarian so had a paneer and mushroom Rogan Josh, which was lovely. The other 3 people had meat dishes and said they really enjoyed theirs. The staff were very polite and helpful. This is our new favourite curry house and will definitely be returning as soon as possible.

We have had 2 meals in the restuarant and ordered 2 takeaways which was the only downside as the takeaway took over 1 hour to arrive but the quality of food was outstanding and superior to anything we have tried throughout the UK and abroad . Family and friends also endorse this review

We used to visit here on a regular basis when it was the Mehran. Thought we'd try it now as the Royal Gurkha and so glad we did. The food is outstanding in both taste and quality. Service was excellent from start to finish. The white linen table clothes gave a special touch. I'd definitely recommend the Chefs special dishes they are amazing. First and definitely not the last visit.

We used to go out of our way to go to this restaurant when it was The Mehran. Unfortunately under the new management it is acceptable but by no means outstanding. The Mixed Platter starter has shrunk to about half the number of items and the main courses were bland and excessively sweet. Their idea of a chilli and cheese naan is of taking an ordinary plain nan and sprinkling on a bit of sliced chilli and grated cheese which wasn't even melted. The service was very slow and with a "take it or leave it" attitude.We may go back if passing but certainly won't make the 25 mile round trip for a special meal again.
