Shapla Spice in Amber Valley

Kept changing the time , I know that outlets get busy it’s Saturday night but just put the truth on delivery time instead of lying !!!! People will understand more than giving false hope 🙄. Even when contact with the manager was made he told us that the driver had left 10 seconds ago ?? It’s 6 mins to our house … didn’t turn up till 28 mins later !!! Told we were not getting any money off by text , yet manager stated 20% off next meal , then at the end of conversation it was 10% 🙄🙄..BS !!!

Really great quality cooking! Favourite Indian takeaway in the area by a mile. Always deliver earlier than quoted.

Went as a table of 6, got poppadoms quickly but our main course we waited over 45 minutes for. The restaurant was full and only 2 people had food, very busy handing out takeaway orders. Table of 3 next to us asked when their food would be arriving so I good opportunity to do the same, the young waiter told the senior person, but no apologies or an eta. The young waiter just came back and said "I've told them". Food arrived and it was beautiful. Bill came to £199 for 6 so was a decent price for 3 rice, 3 naan, 6 dishes and Daves chips. Was a shame on service as we had a friend from Australia visiting and wanted her to experience a curry in England.

The order was 30 mins later than specified and was changed to 'delivered' for 20 mins before we received the order. The food was good but lukewarm and the rice was cold. As a regular customer of Shapla, it is a shame this time was very disappointing.

where is it and why don't I have my refund yet?

Not from the local area so didn’t know what to expect but would 100% recommend

Not used Shapla for a long time I’ve tried different places. I shouldn’t of bothered because we’ve had a curry from Shapla tonight and I can honestly say this place beets all the others for taste, quality and quantity. The nicest curry I have had in a long time. I’m only ordering from Shapla from now on.

Our party was booked for Boxing Day evening and we had made a good decision. Friendly welcome and great service, although perhaps just a little bit slow. A huge menu to choose from and all served at the same time. Very tasty food and all served piping hot. Great choice and will go again.

After 2 hours over the due time our food hadn't arrived so we ended up going to get it! No offer to refund delivery charges. Luke warm food. Restaurant claim they gave us something in our order to say sorry - this is untrue. Very disappointed as Shapla is usually good.

Went for Xmas lunch ,it was very nice very friendly ,food was tasty ,staff worked hard to make it a lovely experience,recommended

I booked the order for 7.15pm but it arrived just after 8.10pm. Food is great as always, but this is the first time the food has been late via Just Eat. Usually very reliable.

I only live around corner and have never used before, no complaints here, nice Balti and a nice Bhuna, not greasy and very tasty, friendly staff and food was ready in 15 mins too collect. Will be going again

The restaurant is clean and the service is prompt and un obtrusive. Sadly my curry was bland with overcooked tough and rubbery chicken and the naan bread dry and without flavour.

We love going to Shapla Spice. It's just really good food. We decided to have a sit down meal this time but we have had takeaway and it's never let us down. It's also a bring your own booze establishment so don't forget that when you visit.

No communication late delivery,I would not order from here again.

We went to Shapla because Katmandu was closed what a mistake. We were shown to a table and just left, we had to ask to place our order, we managed to get some poppadoms, then had to ask again to place our order, this time we got some drinks, we asked for a third time to place our order but the waiters were more interested in the telephone orders for take aways. By this time we had enough and left. Terrible service, we can't rate the food because we didn't get any. We won't be going back and I wouldn't recommend it based on our experience.

food was not good. ordered 6.30pm received 9.10pm.

App said out for delivery and it was a further half an hour late after that. Requested a text from the restaurant which said it'd take no longer than 5 mins, never received one. Phoned the restaurant to be told it hadn't even left!

This is hands down the best Indian in Ripley. We have been going for years and never had a bad meal. We have both take away and sit down meals and I can’t say a bad thing about this place. If you’ve never been before it’s well worth trying Dave’s chips from there and the Chicken Tikka Chasni is a favourite of ours. Much love from Mr Richard

Went in on the off chance of a table had to wait 10 minutes which was fine. Couldn't fault the food great choice decent portion size, and the price was good also.

Cheese and garlic naan was lacking cheese, apart from that fantastic food

Went here for my birthday meal. Very accessible and car park very close by. The place was full at 6pm on a Sunday evening which is always a good sign. The waiters were very attentive and friendly. The food came very quick and all dishes were piping hot. The portion size was generous and the food was high quality and very tasty. This place isn’t licenced to sell alcohol but they have a big range of soft drinks or you can take your own alcohol. Highly recommend

First visit to Shapla Spice and was very pleased, food was excellent, service was not rushed and prices were very reasonable. Will certainly be going again

Whst can I say anout a place thst doesn't really need any introduction. If you haven't already visited Shapla I recommend you do really value for money food is amazing it must be we keep going back and the staff are so friendly welcoming. Would really recommend a visit

Love this place dearly, personal service, excellent food (the mirchee mossalla is to die for). If you've never had Dave's special chips, you've simply not lived. They especially like it when I play them with my Trinidad scorpion chillies. Keep up the good work lads, I'll be eating your food for as long as we're all going.

normally my all time fav but was abit let down today , bread was not cooked through enough so was abit doughy, curry is normally my all time go to but today just didn't taste as amazing as normal , but food was still enjoyable and will continue to order from here , was a Saturday night so I know they get super busy hopefully next time is as outstanding as usual

The curry was very bland and the chicken pieces were nasty, lots of veins and grey colour. The chips and rice, however, were lovely.

The most fantastic find whilst visiting the area for work. Happened across the Shapla Spice on a Sunday evening and it was really busy - good sign! Asked for recommendations re a good lamb and a good prawn dish. Oh my word! The most tender lamb balti ever, with a delicious prawn bhuna house special. Fabulous with spinach and chilli naan. Great service and bring your own booze, so great value.

Yet another fantastic takeaway from our favourite restaurant. Fantastic food, great staff, would very highly recommended.

Dinner came a few minutes early but it was fine. food was hot and fresh with exception to the chips. They were a little bit dry and rubbery. The curry had plenty of meat in each of them. We would order again!

Dave’s chips!!!! Well what can I say. They were absolutely spot on. Great service, great food and the Saturday night we went there was a great atmosphere. Well recommended if you are wanting a curry in Ripley. Tank your out booze though as they are not licensed.

Went for new year's eve meal, food is always excellent but in previous years service has been poor due to high numbers of takeaways, but not this time, great service keep it up.

Not much meat in the tikka mossola, rice was cold as was the naan bread(which was the wrong naan bread) but the “Dave’s chips” were absolutely banging. Been here a few times and never had a problem until today.

40 mins late! Rang up and asked how long it would be, staff blunt and rude! Food cold!

Nice place, service was great, not licenced but no problem, you can bring your own beer and wine. I found the food was okay enough, but run of the mill. Standard curry and rice, nothing exceptional, prices average.

Friendly staff, good service, and some exceptional dishes. Not licensed, so can bring own alcohol. Limited parking but free public parking not far away. The chilli tamarind starter is a delight.

Ordered takeaway over phone, they had it just ready when I arrived to pick up, food was really good, much better than all the local takeaway specific food joints around ripley. When I got home it was still piping hot and 10/10. Definitely recommend and got a discount for picking up myself. What's not to like? Will absolutely go again.

Solely on delivery. I order every week and called at 5:30pm on New Year's Eve. Was informed it'll be 1.5hrs.... currently been waiting over 3hrs. Surely you would of delivered some by now... I guess you have decided that because we live on the borders of your delivery range that we are less important.... this is totally unacceptable as a loyal customer. I won't be returning anytime soon.

Order arrived at 9:30pm with the order being placed at 6:30pm, having to call the restaurant twice to chase the order, being told 20-25 minutes at 8:35 and then calling again at 9:15 to be told it had only just left the restaurant! Overly unimpressed, and don’t feel that the excuse of ‘we’ve been busy because it’s Father’s Day’ is a good enough excuse! Especially when knowing it is coming you would specifically increase delivery drivers or reduce the amount of orders coming in! And then offered 20% discount on the next order on the doorstep by the delivery driver! Like that is of any good to me now! Considering this is our go to Indian, it will no longer be! Disgraceful!

Went to Shapla last nite for a birthday meal. The food was magnificent as always service brilliant. Couldn't think of anywhere else I would go for a celebration meal that's near to home. Will definitely be going back next month and wd are considering making it a monthly date for dinner

The food is beautiful from shapla has we've been there many times for a sit down meal but with just eat delivery was late and stone cold so had to reheat it up

Had an Indian on the 23rd December, food arrived and all looked OK. Have ordered from here multiple times before and never had an issue. Sadly this time my partner and me woke up vomitting 7 hours later, all the way through Christmas Day (had nothing else to eat prior to this). It's boxing day now and we're both still suffering. Absolutely no response from the restaurant, have reported to food standards agency. Very disappointed and ruined our entire Christmas, absolutely gutted.
