Best mixed platter staff and chef excellent

So sad. I had high expectations having read the reviews but it was one of the worst Indian's I've ever eaten in my life. I'll keep this brief. Food turned up lukewarm, not terrible as I'm happy to pop in the microwave. The mint sauce was a disgusting luminous green, tasted of the smell of cif lemon household cleaner. I've never in nearly 50 years had a mint sauce this artificially coloured, it was luminous bright green. The onion bahjis just tasted of salt no natural flavour or sweetness from onions. There was no fresh herbs, flavours felt like they came from all the same base sauce and not a good one. Naan was wet and flavourless. After trying I threw it all in the bin. Please tell me there's a better indian nearby as this is not what i'm used to.

Great food I’ve been 7 or eight times now and al says happy with the quality and service provided. Maybe a toilet upgrade would enhance your experience but all said very good .

Just been for a family meal and the 1st time I have been. It certainly won't be the last. The restaurant is very clean and has really good facilities but to be fair it's really all about the food and that was just perfect. All the food was cooked fresh and all was tasty , light and had absolutely no grease or oil whatsoever. I was so pleased to see also that you could have duck in the curries which I haven't seen for a long time. Will admit it was one of the best curries I have had and certainly will be back very quickly.

Great meal on our first visit to the restaurant. The staff were friendly and the place was clean and had a nice casual atmosphere. Very good range of starters and main courses which were excellent value for money. The food was really nice, good flavours and decent portion sizes. Many of the other items on menu sound really nice, so would definitely return to try a few different meals. Great experience overall.

This restaurant is terrific for a family meal. The welcome, service, value for money and the food itself is excellent. I recommend this restaurant highly.

This is a Beautiful place and wonderful food… the service staff is so polite can 5star rating for them especially Subarna ….my favourite dish here is …chicken tikka khukara masala and Nepali chilli chicken and fish chilli is my favourite definitely recommend.

Had our takeaway and was absolutely amazing. Chicken Tikka Karaih and Korma, rice and naans. Will always go back, and the price is good too!

Just been in to Kathmandu Gurkha in Ripley 6/10/23 to collect a takeaway. Been in here a few times with friends and I now only use the Gurkha for my Friday night takeaway. Best curry in Ripley by far and the onion bhaji's are fabulous. Staff always very friendly and always ready to please.

They where very welcoming and polite and they look after me and my boyfriend Neil and Joe and the food was amazing out this wourld and pudding was amazing and we all will be definitely back and was lovely cannot recommend enough !

Highly recommend this fantastic restaurant...Travelled from Cornwall. To see my freinds/family and decided to come here for dinner. And was so happy we did. Food was excellent, cooked fresh & full of flavour. All staff was so welcoming and made our stay. Even the main chef Ram came out and thanked us for eating his lovely food. From start to finish welcomed with a friendly smile, food is absolutely impeccable! By far the best authentic traditional gurkha food in derbyshire! Have been coming here now for 8years and have not had a bad meal yet! No cause for complain whatsoever! Staff are very attentive and personable, get to know you and your orders and are keen to assist at all times. Food is piping hot and so fresh, fresh herbs used in every dish and each dish tastes unique! None of these dishes are out of a jar! Cannot recommend enough, give it a go you will not be disappointed!

Truly authentic Gurkha food, been coming here for years and never had a bad meal or poor service, very friendly and welcoming staff, chef Lal is an amazing person always goes the extra mile, we have sampled most of the menu and each dish is unique.

Went here for the first time after family recommendations and it didn’t disappoint. Started with poppadoms and a pickle tray which was delicious followed by a starter of onion bhajis which were the best bhajis I’ve ever had. So nice. I had the chicken bhuna and my dad the chicken balti and both were stellar. Portions were generous and everything was piping hot and fresh. The two waiters were both super polite and attentive. I’ll definitely be back. 😋

This restaurant has that excellent perennial appeal about it. The quality of the service is exceptional... young waiter Subarna served me tonight and was excellent in his manner and all round pleasant demeanour. All the staff are excellent though and the food and service is London standard. It is up there and locally, we are blessed with this Nepalese gem. Long may it prosper, with its sister restaurant in Clay Cross.

Good food, great service, huge choice on the menu, in house beer was spot on, place very clean, efficient throughout and a good all round meal out, will come again.

Absolutely 1 million percent the best sit down meal I've ever had, the pickle served with the poppadoms was absolutely unreal. I've never had anything like it in my life it hit every single part of your pallette and the main course was exactly the same it was just level after level of flavour. The chef is an absolute genius. Every body get themselves there you won't be disappointed. Badri was an absolute legend asked for his recommendation and the number 32 is the absolute one. Amazing every step of the way.

We used to go quite often but after our last sit down meal we wont be going back , I ordered a medium Jalfrezi but when it came there was no flavour to it I told the waitress who took our order and she came back with a small little bowl of chillies !! really ! I knew when she took our order that it wouldnt be right her attitude was oh well . So we paid and will never go back

We ordered a takeaway to night The special dish khukura masala and Gurkhai hariyo khursani both were brilliant. The portion sizes were spot on as well and came on time as well. Thank you to kathmandu gurkha for the good food and service.👍️👍️

Actually, me and my friends were searching for nepali/indian restaurant to dine in and got landed in Kathmandu Gurkha. We had been there last Friday, and the restaurant was hell lot of busy and we haven't done any reservations done as well. However, the staffs over were so calm in that rush time and had managed to provide the seats to the customers who have booked and for us (haven't done booking) as well. Me and my friends were so amazed to see the service offered by the staffs and finally the ordered food was on our table and we were thrilled to see the presentation of dishes and the taste was delicious. We had got the best experience over there. Thanks to Kathmandu Gurkha restaurant team🔥🔥

The food and service have always been great here but now taken to another level with the addition of lovely Savita to the waiting staff. Funny, warm, friendly and attentive, she made us all feel very welcome and the food was the usual 5* excellent.

While the food at this restaurant was good, the poor service left much to be desired. Despite having made a reservation, the staff did not acknowledge it and seemed indifferent to our presence. We were even asked to move tables when other guests didn't show up, which made our dining experience uncomfortable due to the tight space in the corner. The servers were inattentive and had to be called over multiple times for drinks and food, which was disappointing. Overall, the subpar service overshadowed the good food at this restaurant, and it's difficult to recommend it based on this experience. Hopefully, the management will take note of these shortcomings and make the necessary improvements to ensure a better dining experience for future customers.

This is the best Indian in Ripley, both for friendly service and great tasting unique curry dishes. We totally recommend the chef's specials. The value is good and you won't be disappointed

We've been going to this fabulous restaurant for years and had many takeaways too. The food is as good as it gets and the choice is mind blowing. I would easily recommend the Kathmandu to anyone looking for the best. Their staff are terrific too. We're very lucky to have them just a couple of miles away. Excellent!

We ordered poppadoms to start followed by mint chicken and lamb skewer starter. I love the mint and yoghurt dip, save it to go with my main course! Mains were Iasuna khukhara chicken and chicken sizzler. Absolutely gorgeous, so tasty and the naan breads were tasty, thin and crispy. Rice so tasty too. Service fantastic as usual, highly recommend 😊

We went for my father's birthday. Don't get me wrong the food was lovely however this was let down by the service we recieved. When our food arrives at the table we where just waiting for a few more orders to come. The server came out and said lamb balti. Non of us had ordered that when we said we hasn't ordered that one he shouted and pointed to the one who hadn't got his and said I know you ordered this. He explained no ordered chili chicken. He then looked around the table and said thats chili chicken which my sister had. He asked rudely what my sister ordered and she had order garlic chicken. He then looked down at this supposed lamb and said this is garlic chicken and shoved it in front of her. My daughter and niece ordered the same dish apart from different nan when he put those in front of them he said ones garlic ones plain if it's wrong swop it round. The rudeness from this staff member was shocking. Some of nans that we ordered didn't arrive to be told we never ordered them. When he came to clear the plates he just shoved his way in to gey the plates. No excuse me or have you finished. This trolly did ruin my father's birthday meal and it is such a shame as the food was lovely but non of us will return again due to the service.

We went here last night for a birthday party and I was quite disgusted. We ordered a honey chilli chicken and when he brought it out he said it was lamb, when we told him this was an incorrect order we met with rude customer service and was actually shouted for them getting our order wrong. In addition we was just thrown our plates down and told us if it was wrong just swap the plates around not even thinking about intolerances. The third thing of the night which was disappointing was one of our party’s rice came out very delayed compared to the rest of there meal which ruined it because by the time they got the rice there curry was cold.

Great food with a Nepalese theme. We use regularly for takeaways and occasional sit down meal. It has a great menu with some lovely house specials and the service is great.

Very good value for money. We came here for a pre boxing fight curry with the lads. Service was good, food was even better. The chef special Katmandu is amazing and would highly recommend that dish, This came with rice and choice of naan bread. The Gurkha beer is very good too. Great place to eat Indian/Nepalese food, everything about the restaurant is top class.

Awesome food. Seems like a good place to start. We only went in here because the restaurant we had intended to go to was full but I am glad we did. The staff were friendly and the food was truly excellent with more flavours flooding out of the food. Gripes, yes - charging extra for the little pots of bits that go with poppadoms is a bit out of order. Hoping someone is listening, don't like paying extra for the pots of bits that are complementary everywhere else - are you listening? I'm asking because I am in the area again in couple of weeks and my mate has suggested we go there again...... Do we didn't go again but did go 1/10/21, food great, friendly but still charging the extras and it is too expensive, makes a surprise disappointment at the end. Food still great but presentation had suffered. Worth a visit and if you want to sit down to eat in Ripley there is a high chance you will visit.

I love my take away curries and order twice a week.. Moved to condor recently, very nice curry, rice and naan. Always order my currys extra hot vindaloo with extra chopped green chillies, foods hot service is great, quick delivery. Only bad point is the chicken, it does not come as tikka chicken, just normal chicken and not spicy enough when asked? Otherwise 5 stars from me. WILL BE ORDERING AGAIN AND AGAIN

Takeaway: Very tasty garlic chilli lamb (and pilau rice. Arrived within 30 minutes. Poppadoms were beautiful. Naan very nice. Lamb masala quite sweet but devoured.

Received food 1 hour late. Absolutely stone cold!! Half of the order missing. Never answered phone again after they dropped order off. Please don’t waste your money. We payed £70 and had to microwave and make do with half meals mixed together.
