Praan Indian Restaurant in Amber Valley

We were a table of 4 at a 7pm Thursday. Following internet reviews we were not disappointed. Really wonderful food, fab service and good recommendations and suggestions for different dishes to maybe try. Loved it, definitely going back soon.

While visiting the UK and spending time with friends we decided to have a meal here at Praan as my friends live in Belper. Great atmosphere, the waiters that served us were very friendly and the food was extremely tasty. Would recommend and the cost isn't that unreasonable either

Our favourite Indian by far. The food it really nice and the staff very helpful. It’s underground with the entrance off to the side, being underground means it can be quite dark but the setting and lighting make up for it . We usually eat in but even as a takeaway, it’s very nice. I have the shatkora and my wife has the saag, with the shatkora from here being my favourite curry for anywhere, ever. Can’t recommend it enough.

A great meal, service and price. We really enjoyed the evening.

This is the best Indian restaurant we have found, it really is worth travelling to. We have been three times so far and it has been consistently good, the main dishes are great then finishing off with amazing desserts and a pot of coffee with a jug of cream after the desserts which is how it should be but so many others aren't. To top it off it is reasonably priced and the setting which is underground really has a wow factor.

Went with some friends for all you can eat Buffett , absolutely beautiful food and service, all so tasty recommend the chicken Tikka((mellts in your mouth ..well worth the money , shall def be returning ..well done guys Beverley xx

Couldn’t fault our evening meal tonight at Praan. From the moment we arrived I felt we were well looked after by the staff. The food was excellent quality; my lamb shank curry was amazing. No rushed service either and a clean atmosphere. From our experience it’s pretty rare these days in Belper to feel like you have enough time to feel like you can enjoy a meal without all the courses coming out far too quick and being rushed out the door. It’s nice to see Praan giving customers an experience instead making each bum on a seat feel like they’re just a transaction. Busy restaurant, clearly a hit with others as well. Will be returning for sure.

Just went in for their all you can eat buffet on Wednesday evenings - excellent quality, service and value for money. Food continuously attended to so always hot and fresh - highly recommend

Fish curry was shocking. Very watery and 1 prawn and a chunk of what looked like a frozen fish portion. They also forgot the poppadoms we ordered.

Food was really good. Waiter was friendly and able to explain different dishes, some I'd never heard of before. I had land shatkora which was great.

Went to the opening night of the buffet offering, definitely one of the best with a good choice of starters and the main courses with an option for chicken, beef, and lamb dishes, will return for sure.

Just had a takeaway delivered I had chicken naga balti Mrs V had chicken tikka biriani rice and naan bread the food was Excellent so was the delivery service .can't fault anything Belper is very lucky to have the praan restaurant and takeaway.

Just been and had a superb meal, tried food I hadn't had elsewhere and was very well presented. Reasonably priced and great staff. Will certainly recommend and return.

A really lovely Indian. So much choice and lovely service too. Food is always delicious and they have a good veggie/vegan selection also.

Service was not slow, but clearly they'd never heard of service with a smile and I certainly did not appreciate the creepy looks at my wife. Food was better than an average Indian. Music was good. Price was average

It was our second visit to Praan and we loved everything about it. The food, the atmosphere and the friendly staff. I would thoroughly recommend it.

Unfortunately waited 45 mins for the main, wasn't very hot so guessing it was left because the people next to us who came after got theirs first and the curry looked lovely but tasted bland and never had a cheese and garlic naan where the cheese was sat in the middle, hardly any garlic either. 😕

If I could give more I would. We ordered through just eat and when the food was delivered (very quickly) we noticed one of our starters were missing, we rang the restaurant and within 19 minutes our missing item was here with free poperdoms. The food was amazing, so flavourful! Incredibly impressed can't wait for the next order

Got a takeaway - delicious as usual.

We ordered a collection as there was a large group of us. The menu was broad and appetising, the food was ready on time and we enjoyed everything! However we did have some concerns about the functioning of the website: I crashed my browser as we ordered more than 50 items, and my friend had a problem with punctuation in a request box. These issues, though apparently small, could have larger downstream consequences when ordering via the restaurant website. This is why I have changed the 'Service' rating to four three stars as we nearly gave up the ordering process twice.

Went down on a busy Saturday, but the staff at Praan still managed to smash it out the park. Service was incredible and the food was on another level. Will be returning definitely 👍

Following on from my original review about takeaway not being ready then getting home to find parts of the order missing probably due to them taking too much on and rushing. Then offering verbally to pay me a refund …. Which has never been received!!!! I can only surmise that they obviously need the money more than giving great customer service. Makes you wonder about Praans other ethics doesn’t it? I am sure they will have all the reasons not to have done the right thing?!. There is a saying in great customer service when something accidentally goes wrong and can be righted, called ‘ The moment of truth’ something they seemed to have missed completely

Long wait, when called was told the order was out for delivery but we were last on the list. Polite on the phone. Cheese and garlic Naan bread was a big lump of cheese in the centre of it, could not taste any garlic. inedible. Lamb dish very bland flavouring and dry lamb. Overpriced, £40 for 2 dishes with no poppadoms on the house like some places do that charge less.

Excellent meal with drink and well looked after by Waiters

Polite phone service, long wait time for delivery but understandable, friendly delivery, unfortunately food was not edible. I ordered a lamb dish and it was just pure blubber and chewy lumps, cheese and onion Nan was just crispy with massive chunk of unmelted cheese and no onion also cold, complaints from other family members too. Shame because this was an almost £80 order, restaurant preferable to eat in to be honest so won’t be getting on line order again (online order site unnecessarily complicated too)

Nice flavours but what a shame about the heavy use of food colouring. I thought that was a thing of the past with curries. My lamb methi which should be green with spinach was an overly bright red (definately not just tomato).

What could go wrong? "Taste's so bad" - 4 of us. May be Brits love sweet and tasteless food but if you are Indian, you better save yourself from this place. Everything was tasteless and sweet. This actually took our Pran ( Life) out of us eating this tasteless and sweet food. where should i start, aah, Chilli Paneer, right, looks like the chef missed out on salt or something 😂. The garlic nan was without any taste at all, forget garlic 😂, looked like it was ready to eat nan. Just close this place, you are insulting our Indian cuisine with this taste, oops, no taste at all, just Sugary sweet 😂

Came to eat here with a group of friends after some recommendations. We were a group of 5 and ordered a few dishes each. Was reasonably priced. We all left stuffed i even got a doggy bag home! Will definitely be coming again.

Good quality draught beer, decent poppadoms and pickle tray, good rice, excellent fresh naans. BUT my lamb curry had only four small pieces of tough, dry, chewy, meat. My son had a chicken korma with five small pieces of dry, obviously reheated, meat. Service was very poor. Despite the restaurant being empty, we were rushed into ordering before we had time to properly look at the menu, and felt rushed to finish our meals. Real shame, but I think we'll stick with the other curry house in Belper in future.

It was alright had better curries staff not very friendly place is cozy to dine but I don't think we will go again

Ordered a tandoori mixed grill. was the most tasteless mixed i ever had for £14. The tandoori leg was fresh, chewy so definetly reheated! prawn was undercooked and not edible. Trying to charge me £few quid extra for man to come out side and hand food over, literally few yards, did it last time with no quabbles. now getting funny = double standards. u aint michelin star. wont be ordering again....stick to Elaichi, no issues over there! gura ki gaan chat le

All the allergens are marked on the menu so it's easy to be confident about gluten free (or dairy free) requirements at Praan. . The food was pretty good and plentiful. I had a veg curry and the vegetables were a bit more varied than your average Indian restaurant, which was really nice to see.

Food is good. But took 2 and a half hours to be delivered on a Saturday night. It arrived almost an hour after the promised time, & we were getting very worried!

Curry was nice but the service was incredibly bad original waiter was rude and rushing us as we were still eating our starters and then it was an hour and a half wait for food and half of us didn’t even get the right meal. Would 100% never go back real shame

We have visited the Praan a number of times and have always enjoyed the tasty food. This time we ordered a takeaway and they got the order wrong, we were short of a coupe of items (which they had charged for). Luckily we checked and realised and the staff quickly corrected with some extra free poppadoms. Everyone makes mistakes but not everyone can fix them as well as the staff at the Praan :)

I had an early dinner here tonight by myself. The staff were lovely. I had Chana masala, tarmac dal, rice and naan. It was beautifully cooked, really tasty. Although the restaurant was quiet, people came in to collect takeaways, who were clearly regulars, and had a lovely rapport with the staff. I would not heritage to recommend this restaurant.

Wow.. having suffered very mediocre Indian food in Leicester for three years, we move to Belper and find Praan. Amazing service, superb food and prompt delivery. We will be back again and again.

We dined here as a family of 6, 2 fussy teenagers a 9 and 7 year old. The service we recieved was fantastic the waiters couldn't do more to cater to our needs even though it was very busy. We had a range of dishes and I really could not fault any of it. The lamb dishes are amazing the lamb is so tender. We will definitely be returning very soon.

I recently wrote a bad review about Praan over a late delivery of cold food and the wrong order. I vowed not to return. I have now deleted that review.The management at Praan dealt with the matter perfectly. They contacted me personally the next day via response to my review on this platform and a phone call and allowed my partner and I a full re delivery at a date of our choosing.The second delivery was wonderful and timely. Food delicious. Flawless.We even received a phone call from management the next day to ensure we were satisfied. I have never received such a response and perfect treatment. I realised I had overreacted.Food is delicious.Management of complaints perfect. I'll be returning for sure and recommend you do too.

Had booked a table here with a friend, but ordered a takeaway for the family to enjoy as well. A mix up when I collected the takeaway meant me and another customer picked up the wrong meals; spotted as soon as I got home and when I rang they immediately knew it was me and the error that occurred, were very apologetic and told me to keep the takeaway I already had and they would get the right order cooked and ready straight away - either for delivery or collection, I choose to collect it and when I did laughed and said I'd be in for a table later so three times in a night! When we got there later had a very warm welcome and, at the end of the meal, was given complimentary drinks to make up for the takeaway problem, They couldn't have done more to resolve the problem and, as ever the sit down meal and take away were really good quality and very tasty. Can't recommend them highly enough.

First visit to Praan having read the good reviews on trip advisor. We had scallops to start which were nicely presented but rather chewy. The garlic naan was delicious but the curries average. Not really any depth of flavour to the sauces. Staff were attentive and atmosphere quite good. Probably wouldn't visit again

Last minute decision to order a takeaway from here. Observed here and an opposition Indian takeaway menu before choosing the Praan. What a mistake that was. Collected in the 30 minute window as advertised, had to wait a little while which is understandable as I thought the food was being made fresh. Travelled the minor 1.4 miles back home to a stone cold curry, rice, chips, and naan. Not to mention the error on the order, which was no way a communication error as both items did not sound similar. Called the resturaunt, and the item was delivered to us. Which I am grateful for, although needn't be due to this being a never event. I attempted to speak to the delivery driver to explain that the food was atrociously cold for the mere distance I made, to which he abruptly replied whilst walking away "I don't care, call them, I am just the delivery driver." I clearly was wrong to assume that he was part of the team, seeming as he worked for the same company. This is such a shame as my relatives travel from afar to join me at this restaurant. It will be a long while before I order a takeaway again. Lets just hope I can oversee this poor attempt at a £25 order and feel confident enough in your service to return to your restaurant to dine in, within the future. As when dining in, I have never a fault, which is such a shame.

Ordered food when we collected the food they had gave us nothing we ordered! When we called up they denied it. Food was freezing cold and then a delivery driver provided some food and refused to listen to my anger and walked away stating it’s not his problem! No refund provided and we had to reheat food for another 7-10mins due to food being stone cold and very watery! This is NOT the first time it has happened. We won’t be returning and will make family and friends aware to stay away! It seems the delivery driver is pissed off with dealing with the complaints from unhappy customers.

It was my husbands 60th Birthday and it was our first visit. Everything was perfect, the food was to die for. The best Indian I have had in a long time. You must visit. A surprise cake for Hubbie which was a wonderful touch and much appreciated and a bottle of Prosecco to take home for the Birthday Boy. So looking forward to returning soon.

Dreadful takeaway service. Two hours since the order and when it arrived the rice grains were like bullets, the food was dry and lukewarm and not a single apology for the delay. Two phonecalls where I was given the same "it's just gone out the door" story. Apologise, offer a discount and admit you're overloaded. Avoid for Saturday night takeaways.

Fantastic food and service from Abdul and the team. The food is always superb and our friends were blown away but the quality and taste. Belper is very fortunate to have Praan.

One of the best Indian foods I’ve ever had, very well presented . We both had starters, mains and never had a dessert at an Indian before but we had one and shared it. All was very good. It wasn’t cheap and check your bill as something was added to ours that we didn’t have. But overall highly recommend.

Excellent tasty curry I had a chicken tikka balti with a special man (meal in itself) my wife had vegan options Chan's masala and tarka dall. This was a takeaway which we collected.The staff are gracious and professional there is social distancing in place and is subtle. The place is absolutely spotless.This is now our go to Indian restaurant.

Abdul and his team really excelled themselves. Perfectly cooked meals all round. Great service, spotless facilities. Many thanks for making our 1st night out in 15 months such a special one.
