Sylhet Spice in Amber Valley

We were staying at Eastwood Hall over the weekend and decided to go for a curry. Found out it was bring your own beer. Which was good because I could take a decent bottle of wine. Anyway, absolutely fantastic Place to eat. Couldn’t fault anything. Definitely be back again

chicken was rubbery. it was watery. we waisted a lot of it

Criminally underrated, Bod and the team are truly fantastic, super tasty, fresh food that's incredibly keenly priced, the chili chicken stir fry is probably the best starter I've ever had, and the chicken Naga ticks all the boxes especially if you like to feel the burn, one of the few restaurants I've been to that still know how to make a hot curry, aren't afraid of the heat and can still pack the food full of flavour, really well done guys, very, very easily recommended

Went out for dinner with work colleagues and was pleasantly surprised at presentation and food. Also nice to see regulars celebrating a birthday - always a good sign!

Food was cold,chicken was tough just not enjoyable at all,did not taste freshly cooked

Absolutely Outstanding Indian Cuisine! This was hands down the best Indian meal we’ve had! From the moment we arrived, the hospitality was exceptional—such a friendly and welcoming team. The food was phenomenal! The poppadoms were incredibly light, and we loved the spicy sauce and generous portion of onions that came with them. My fish with saag, lentils, and onion curry sauce was simply amazing. My brother’s lamb curry was rich and flavorful, while the chicken tikka dopiazza was unbelievably tender and packed with taste. The Desitawa chicken and lamb curry was beautifully spiced, and the onion naan was perfectly fluffy and light. To top it off, the mushroom rice was cooked to perfection—so soft and fragrant. Great value, incredible flavors, and service that makes you feel at home. It’s a big YES from us—we’ll definitely be back!

I ordered mushroom pilau rice but got mushroom fried, so a little dissapointed as i did write this in the notes.

Ordered their bbq chicken masala with naan. The naan were under cooked and chicken tasted Pathetic. Waste of money and time. Ruined my mood. Definitely I will not recommend it to anyone.

This was an excellent Indian dinner, with a good range of foods on offer. I had a chicken jalfrezi which was perfectly spiced with a smooth sauce and some lively chillis. My friends all ordered from the specials list and were similarly pleased. One is a vegetarian and the waiter was happy to satisfy her requirements. Only very minor problem was that almost all the desserts were unavailable, but that really didn’t matter. I eat at restaurants in London frequently, and didn’t expect a restaurant in a small Welsh town to be better than most of them.

The staff and service were very good, the dish that I picked was not so.. Maybe it was I chose the wrong meal - bland, over salted and not tasty - unfortunately I left over half of the dish - signature Tandoori grille. I also ordered a side portion of Masala sauce, which was lovely as was the Naan Bread.

Our first time here, we are local & live curries. We found the staff very friendly, food excellent & a nice ambience. We would highly recommend this relaxed restaurant, great being able to take your own alcohol too.

I've been going here for 10+ years! It is the best curry I have tasted in my life... no matter where I live I will drive... your hand is shook on the door and whatever you request, it is done! An absolutely perfect establishment... thank you bod!!!

Complained to just eat about the quality and they werent interested so wont be using them again. Madras was hotter than a vindaloo and couldnt eat it, the samosa was like rubber. Rest of the order was really nice

We went for a meal last Friday evening with friends. This is the second time we have been and will definitely return again. The owner is very attentive and friendly as are all of his staff. The food here is genuinely outstanding and we believe that we’re well placed to judge being lovers of British Indian food and having visited many of the restaurants locally. The food is beautifully cooked, balanced in heat and taste and incredibly good value. The only thing to trump the food (as if that were possible) is the fabulous hospitality of the team there who truly go the extra mile to ensure your visit is memorable. Bod, Naz and team thank you yet again for a fabulous evening and our friends were truly in awe!

This is our favourite Indian restaurant been many time always consistently excellent. Bod, Naz and staff are great always make you feel welcome. Last week we had poppadoms and pickles then a shared starter chicken zafrani so tasty. For mains I opted for lamb passanda my husband chicken saag mushroom rice and garlic naan came piping hot and perfectly cooked. This place is a must.

Ordered a take away today 14.04.24. Rang at 17.30 but they were running late. Ordered at 17.50 to be told 45 - 60 mins. Actually arrived at 19.00 which was ok. Had plates warmed up and ready. Served up to find the naan breads were missing. So, we have a meal but can’t eat it. So disappointed. I dislike a takeaway as it’s always cold but on top of this I now have to keep it warm in the oven until the naans arrive. I have been promised it’s a priority but still waiting, we have already paid so it might be a long wait. Just proves my point, take away food is not worth the hassle.

I have been coming to Sylhet Spice for the last twenty years. I have tried all curry houses in Ripley, and in my opinion, they are the best in town. Friendly staff, good atmosphere, great food.

The curry flavours were good, however 5 pieces of chicken is tight . The Naan breads were small & poor, plus I prefer cheese to be inside the bread and melted . Not just a pinch of grated cheddar thrown on the top. Used to be good but I won't bother again.

Cheapest and the best curry in Derbyshire by a mile. Cheap but big portions not like other places around here where curries cost a fortune and you get a childs portion

After popadoms and a nice choice of accompaniments I had chilli chicken stir fry with salad which I would rate as the best starter I have had and I have dined at many Asian restaurants. As a main course I chose chicken tikka karahi which was extra spicy as requested. A wonderful dining experience at a reasonable price. I would recommend anyone living within driving distance of Ripley to give this restaurant a try. They will not be disappointed.

Rare date night with the husband child free and this is where we always come. I’ve had the pleasure of coming to this Resturant since I was 18 (now 34). The food, the service and the overall experience has always been consistently amazing. Bod and Naz brilliant as always.

It was missing the rice, put a bit of a downer on it

I’ve order from sylhet spice for years and tonight’s curry was the worst, was late, the poppadoms were burnt and feel really disappointed with it. The prawns were very expensive for 3 prawns.

Out for dinner with my wife. Tonight’s experience right from the welcome as we entered.The quality of the food that was promptly served by the helpful staff .The great choice of dishes at realistic prices.The fact able to take own alcohol drinks.The modern decor with a comfortable relaxed atmosphere.All this contributed to an excellent experience. We look forward to our next visit .

First time at Sylhet spice. We tried starters and mains we'd not had before and were very pleased with our choices. Delicious! The staff were very attentive and friendly. Would definitely recommend. Use the Comet if you live in Little Eaton as the last bus back is 8:55pm

Absolutely superb meals delivered from Sylhet last night, the North Indian Garlic Chilli Chicken Tikka and the luxury Tandoori mixed grill along with naan breads were unbeatable.

It’s the most disgusting curry I have ever had the pleasure to x the meat was lamb but it was that old and hard couldn’t even chew was disgusting and the sauce was pleasant at all x please be careful when ordering from this Indian x I would have asked for a refund but know one was answering their phone x complete waste of money and money that I haven’t got a lot of thought I treat myself never again x please please be aware their food is not fresh ingredients x
