Visited here Saturday evening, the place was really busy but to be expected as we had heard by word of mouth how incredible the food was and it did not disappoint, we were greeted by a lovely member of staff, very happy and cheerful! We asked for recommendations on which curry to go for and the male was very informative. For how busy it was, the food came out super fast and it tasted lovely! The feel of this place, the friendliness of the team and the food.. there is no wonder everyone is talking about it! How busy they are speaks volumes. What a great place. We will certainly be back! Thank you.

Well, my wife and I have been frequentiing the Stutt arms for 45 years. Initially when we heard it was being taken over and made into an Indian resteraunt we gave it a miss. Then we were passing and called in for a drink, WOW the place is really busy and the food smelt amazing so we booked a meal for the week after. We were really impressed the food was so nice. The mix of pub and Indian resteraunt works so well. Can't recommend this place enough. We'll done to the owners 👍😁

Went for a Sunday roast here today. Overall it was pretty good. The vegetable selections were to our tastes. A few bits if being critical. The cauliflower cheese was a bit watery and perhaps we could have done with a few more roast potatoes on the plate but that is pretty critical. I had the rib of beef. The meat was very good indeed. I'm a bit of a Sunday roast snob and I would say this was good but not the best I've had. Overall, had a good meal with our group. Ps the chocolate Brownie for dessert was very good 👍

We went here for my husbands birthday as we'd not been here since it had an Indian restaurant and we live nearby in Belper. He said he would like to try out an Indian restaurant we'd not been to before. Well, we were amazed by the quality of the food and the friendliness of the staff. Steve usually has a Chicken Jalfrazi wherever he goes and he said that this one was one of the best he had ever tasted. I had the King Prawn Keralan which was creamy and had one of the best flavours I have ever tasted. The staff were lovely and we will definitely be going back again. Very recommended.

Came here to dine in a group of 4 guests on New Years Eve '24. We had one guest who is completely lactose intolerant which we omitted to mention when booking as we can usually work round it with careful menu selection .. but the E&P team took it in their stride and were able to come up with great alternative options at no notice! (pretty amazing in itself!) Meal was off the scale delicious from start to finish and no shortage of it either .. a LOT of food, not overspiced, and all just mouth-wateringly taste-ful. Service was spot on, no rushing, no long-waits, and always with a smile. Staff really were super helpful. Evening entertainment .. DJ plus a wandering sax player. The majority of guests seemed to have wandered off to enjoy the midnight countdown back home after they'd dined out. We stayed til after midnight, so maybe the actual midnight welcoming in New Year died a little bit, but that could've just been down to our expectation and not knowing the usual local drill. Anyways, all 4 of us really enjoyed it .. well done E&P on a cracking New Years Eve menu. Look forward to seeing what you do next year ..

I have been here before on an evening for the wonderful curries. And reviewed the rating as 5 out of 5. I returned to try a Sunday dinner which was rated as a top place for this in Derbyshire Times. Arrived as the pub opened just two of us. Lots of staff but service slow. People were attended to at the bar but we were left awhile too long to have our order taken. Two Sunday dinners ordered. They were just okay. Meat ( beef and chicken were slightly tough). Not enough gravy. Had to get up and go to the bar 3 times for more. Not enough vegetables. The best thing was the red wine which was so smooth it was superb. I shall return here for red wine and curries but not a Sunday dinner.

Recently, I dined at The Elephant and Peacock with friends. The starters were a delightful beginning, bursting with flavor and setting high expectations. Our main courses were equally tasty. The ambiance added to the experience with its inviting atmosphere, but the limited menu left us craving more options. Food terrible. The pickle tray had one free goo and two identical mango chutney. When asked why there was no variety the waitress we normally have salad but ran out. The starter of onion banjo was small, greasy chewy balls of batter with no discernible onion and the cold vegetable simosa mess was very unappetising. The main course was a congealed mess masquerading as a coconut fish curry ( actually wobbled like jelly when served suggesting to me freshly made it wasn’t) tasted bland and gloopy! Pilau rice was ok. Buttered chicken was slightly better but worst eaten in years. The service was useless. No knives and forks had to get our own and had to go to the bar to get a drink. Hopeless. Lovely old former pub deserves better standard of food. Really ruined wife’s birthday meal and won’t go there ever again. Reheated slops in my opinion and congealed and nothing freshly prepared. Does not deserve above two star! Don’t water you time and money - Worst experience for years!

Poor from the outset! No knives and forks had to get our own. Onion Bhaji small balls of congealed grease - Yuk Samosas were actually cold and a bit squashed and messy. Pickle tray had a green, taste free goo and two portions of identical mango chutney as they’d “run out of salad” at 7.45pm?? Main was a coconut fish curry which actually wobbled like jelly in the bowl….bland and gloopy - not sure anything fresh went into making it. Pilau rice was ok as was the naan. Buttered chicken edible but nothing special. Had to find staff to get a second drink as the service was so poor. The venue is very nice but it outclasses the food and service we had by a million miles. Eaten Indian food for years and this is one of the worst meals I’ve had in a decade. Mains were chicken jalfrezi and tariwala chicken with pilau rice and garlic naan which we enjoyed followed by use both having apple and cinnamon crumble. Popped into the Elephant and Peacock on the offchance on late return home from visiting Saturday evening, so hadnt been planned. (Had only been in here once before when we had had a drink and snack mid afternoon). It was just after 9.30pm, and even though the kitchens were about to shut they obliged with making us food. I love the feel of this place and the decor is really smart - spacious and welcoming. The food was excellent, and service was obviously pretty speedy as there were few diners at that time. We had two curries with a chilli fish starter all served together, 2 naans, and a couple of drinks , bill came to £49.00 which thought was reasonable. Definitely intend to go again.

I stayed at The Strutt arms for 2 nights and arrived on a Friday. The bar/restaurant are called the elephant and peacock, so it can get a bit confusing. We decided to eat here on our first night because it is Indian food. The restaurant was full, so we ate our food in the conservatory area of the bar. You can also eat in the main bar or the tables outside. We ordered starters, mains courses, rice and naan. All the food we had was absolutely delicious. We loved it so much that we decided to eat there the following night and try different dishes. We loved the pina colada cocktails and seemed to set a trend for them with the locals! The second night we sat outside and it was lovely. The vibe of the place is so relaxed, yet lively. The locals are very friendly and we felt very welcomed here. The staff are also nice and our whole experience was perfect. The food was definitely the best Indian food I’ve tasted outside of India. We will definitely be back.

Friendly staff . Quiet and relaxed in the restaurant. Reasonably priced menu and very tasty food. Loved the cocktails , my friend had a bourbon one it was presented in a Smokey glass bell jar. Would definitely dine here again.

Absolutely loved everything about our meal here tonight. Excellence all round. Outstanding service by our waitress Holly who was perfectly attentive and friendly. Our orders were taken promptly and the food was ready very quickly. The food was gorgeous - so tasty and a special request to make one of the dishes hotter was honoured perfectly. A lovely ambience and interior decor too. Massive thanks to Holly and the rest of tonight’s team. My new favourite place - highly recommend.

Combined our wedding anniversary weekend with our daughters birthday weekend and with family being down finally managed to visit. It was well worth the wait as the food was excellent and we felt it to be good value for money. The icing on the cake was the staff bringing our daughter a brownie/ice cream on the house after hearing it was her birthday. A lovely touch and hopefully we won't leave it as long before our next visit! Thanks! 😀

Accidental stop on a walk. Did a picky bits selection from the starter menu and it was delicious. The spice was spicy enough to feel it but the flavours were still there, the cauliflower was also amazing. All round a great experience! Would definitely recommend

Finding the beautiful Elephant and Peacock after a long drive from Kent was utter joy! The interior design, the staff, comfort, and superb Indian cuisine made our 1 night stay memorable and wonderful. We had a Railway curry followed by pistachio kulfi, it was absolutely delicious, 5 stars. The staff were friendly and very professional, our room was very clean, comfortable and beautifully decorated and furnished. Everything was brilliant value for money. We'll be back for sure!

great place, lovely Indian food, real ale spot on too, staff lovely and helpful, more a restaurant than a pub but still worth a visit. Some great refurbishment carried out from the Strutt Arms days, well recommended 👍

The cooking is first class . Great complex flavours all freshly cooked. Very good quality lamb and chicken. Nans straight from the Tandoor. We have been coming for 20 years and only eat elsewhere when travelling because this food and service is as good as it could be. Take-aways also great.
