The best restaurants in East Midlands

Went last night with a few friends. When I arrived with one friend we were allocated our table rather brusquely by a member of staff. No smile or greeting. When ordering our glass of wine a similar experience. Another member of staff who brought us our wine plonked our glasses on the table without even looking at us and mumbled the names of our wines. Luckily I managed to catch what she said as the music is loud . I was extremely disappointed with the rather rude and dismissive service. Luckily when our other two friends arrived the member of staff who served them was much friendlier. I don't think it's much to ask for a smile and attentive service on a night out with friends.

Had to throw the bacon & egg cob in the bin, due to the egg being under cooked. It was so slimy and left the bread so wet.

The best fish & chips I’ve had in ages, perfect crispy batter and delicious chips that weren’t greasy at all, thanks will definitely order again soon

Good old school pub. Pool table, good garden, kids small play area

I’m afraid it was bland, tasteless and very watery. I know it was korma but this was very disappointing seeing as for nearly £20 I got rice and chicken in pale liquid

Finally a sandwich shop that takes hygiene seriously, gloves are worn, no handling of money with the gloves on, they appear to change them regularly, its so refreshing and reassuring. The staff are super friendly. They have a great selection of hot & cold food, the homemade scotch eggs are delicious, the cakes are nostalgic and yummy. There is a lovely seating area to sit outside. They make nice hot drinks. They do a killer breakfast. The only tiny bit of feedback for improvement, the jacket potato to filling ratio could be better, there’s never enough, you might be able to pay for extra but you shouldn’t have to. Best sandwich shop/deli in Chesterfield by far.

Always very welcoming. (Review from a couple of years ago) Editing review as different serving staff tonight. Perfect eyelashes but poor customer skills. Never realised having gravy on chips that are already put in a tray could cause such a problem 😳.

45 mins late from the latest expected order time. I had to chase as the app had advised my order was delivered and it wasn’t. They weren’t particularly helpful or apologetic.

6 of us for a Sunday roast. Very nice, no frills, homecooked Sunday roast. The puddings were very tasty, and homemade. The pub is very cozy and the garden is also very nice.

Only problem was the delivery man it was at the bottom of the street, and we had to go down and fetch the food

I loved the octopus, scallops and the truffle chicken. It's a bit pricey but still a perfect place for a romantic date.

Excellent food and drinks, lovely friendly staff who can't do enough for you. Good prices as well, this place is well worth a visit you won't be disappointed, highly recommended 👍
