Visité SJ’s Café el lunes 10 de junio y me quedé absolutamente sorprendido cuando salí. Vivo a solo 5 minutos de distancia y cada día paso por aquí para llevar a mis hermanos menores a la escuela cerca, y siempre tengo la tentación de entrar (mientras que al mismo tiempo trato de cuidar de mi cuenta bancaria 🤣) y hoy pensé en tener un desayuno apropiado en lugar de un poco de cereal en casa. Entré y ya estaba sorprendido. Un bonito diseño de interiores, colores encantadores, atmósfera de lata, radio encendida, y una cosa para mí especialmente trabajando en catering yo mismo, sabiendo dónde se está preparando su comida y bebida. Pides en el mostrador y puedes ver tus bebidas hechas. Y la cocina está justo al lado del mostrador. Pedí un desayuno grande todo el día y un café, que llegó al precio extremadamente asequible de £ 9. 20 £ 8 para el desayuno que incluía 2 salchichas, 2 tocino, 2 huevo, 2 hachís, frijoles, tomate, champiñones y 2 rebanadas de tostadas con mantequilla (también podría ser pan con mantequilla). Dije que si no podía tomar tomate o setas y no había ningún problema y me ofrecieron un hash extra! Lo cual no me importó en absoluto. Fui y me senté con mi café (que más tarde me dijeron que eran recambios gratis) y esperé mi comida que venía perfectamente presentada, ¡y visualmente! Fue absolutamente increíble! Recién cocinado y podía oírlo todo chisporrotear mientras esperaba. ¡La mujer en cuyo nombre estaba Sarah era una estrella! ¡Gran conversación también! El lugar también estaba ordenado, barrido regularmente y bien mantenido parecía! También tiene un aseo que no esperaba para un café pequeño como este. Personalmente, si quieres ir a algún lugar para un desayuno APROPIADO (ninguna de estas cosas McDonalds) este es el lugar! También reciben pedidos a través de Just Eat & Uber, pero luego te pierdes el lugar encantador en sí! 10 / 10 de mí y volveremos de nuevo! PD en mis fotos no me acordaba de fotografiar el brindis pero todos sabemos como es el brindis.

Sweetbox es nuestro regalo regular de fin de semana. Todo es tan sabroso, desde envoltura de chile paneer, hasta gobi aloo, pasando por indo chino y parathas. Samosas también son divinas.

We typically stop at Sylvie’s for a couple of bacon & egg baps (good old British “brunch”) and the food is always perfect. My wife likes her eggs with a hard yolk, but here 5hey are always JUST hard. In fact not far from perfect. Service is also always friendly. Hard to beat

Gran servicio anoche, la comida era preciosa como siempre, pero quería dar un saludo a los dos empleados que nos atendieron anoche, no cogió el nombre de los camareros, pero la camarera se llamaba Kayla - no estoy seguro de si esa es la ortografía correcta - pero ella era una alegría, tan refrescante ver a alguien que claramente amaba lo que estaba haciendo y era muy amable, cumplido y se tomó el tiempo para charlar con nosotros, bien hecho. 100 %

We were offered a buffet of finger food in this lovely setting. The restaurant is spacious with lots of seating, plenty of light. Food was lovely and servers were attentive and friendly.

Decent place and good beers. I found the short haired bar staff sound (doing all the work) but the long haired bar supervisor was unprofessional. She engaged in conversations with regulars about the owner. For example, she spoke about earning a pound more than minimum wage, said the owner smiles but it’s fake and that the owner is thinking about relocating but she need to have a conversation with them about it. She criticised process and also said the owner accursed her of not admitting to their mistakes and of not doing enough and won’t answer her text messages. There was no acceptance of any responsibility. She came across a corrosive force who is out for herself and not a team player or sharing in the vision of the business. She spoke frequently about how hard she works but did absolutely no work in the 1.5 hours that we were there. There were more than 20 people sitting in the bar and hers was the loudest voice. Overall, she seemed very unhappy with the leadership of the business which left a sour taste and in my opinion, this undermines a decent business. P.s - I am a small business owner (brewery and 3 pubs) and I know what a good business looks like and what is needed to make it a success. The criticism she is venting to the customers is unjust. This is a decent business. This level of unprofessionalism will quickly take a business down.

Great little cafe, I had a tuna melt panini. It was nice however it definitely didn’t have Mayo in it causing it to be a little Dry and usually tuna melt panini is Tuna Mayo with cheese🙈 also they only take cash which we didn’t realise until we got there but luckily I had enough on me. Overall though; a nice little cafe. Just make sure you have some cash on you so you don’t get caught out!
