Distant Hills Brewing in High Peak

2 parties of about 8 so made it too noisy for us, had to talk loud to be heard, food nice but very small portions considering the price and husbands lamb a bit faty, so left feeling hungry. Staff were nice.

Dive! Food is over priced for what it is! The shared toilets are shocking! Women having to use a toilet that men have wee’d all over Not the friendliest place unless you’re in the clique and the new ‘ manager ‘ ruins the place.

The steak we had last night at Distant Hills was one of the best I have had in a long time! The peppercorn sauce was so peppery and delicious. Such a lovely place for food and drink, definitely worth a visit!

Incredible food. I didn’t expect it to be quite as good to be honest, but my expectations were well and truly surpassed. A friend and I ordered the pâté, chicken wings, chips, mac n’ cheese and crispy beef. The crispy beef was just incredible, so chunky and thick with a great coating. 10/10 would recommend.

The food was great, really tasty and the beers are brill (a new favourite to look out for). Staff were really friendly and helpful. Definitely recommended.

The brewery/tap has settled down to be a good place for excellent and interesting beer and decent food. It's proving to be very popular especially when the weather is good as the outdoor area is excellent We have eaten here in the past but the portions were disappointingly small although the quality was very good and the service excellent. I think we will tend to sample the beer rather than the food. Called with friends recently and although we had a good night things appear to be changing. The food looks like it's improved, the menu is good and quite a few eating. The beer however wasn't as good as previously, turns out the beer is now brewed elsewhere by a contract brewer, presumably to the same recipe but.....

We visited here for the first time yesterday. The atmosphere is nice and relaxed and the food delicious. The staff were very friendly too. Will go back next time in Glossop.

Great bar, even better beers, nice atmosphere, relaxed vibe. Some of the current bar staff possibly need more training but all gave a friendly service and drinks are reasonably priced. The same can’t be said about the food, which was not great and totally overpriced. It possibly needs a menu reduction to do a few dishes well rather than lots badly. Will definitely be back and this brewery should not be missed for enjoyable drinks but save your money on the food.

Absolutely love this place! Real Ales are lovely and the food is even better! Can highly recommend the Lobster Ravioli & the Chicken Tikka Flatbread! 😋

Good selection of beer and great food menu. Very dog friendly place. Lots of outdoor seating as well as indoor on two levels. Plenty of vegetarian options on the menu. Could do with descriptions on the beer list, although the bartender was very friendly and helpful. In fact all the staff members were very nice.

The perfect tonic after a long day's hike. Distant Hills is nondescript on the outside bar a few picnic tables out the front in the beer garden. We chose to sit inside which was a cushy, warm atmosphere. Being with teetotalling pescatarian, breweries can sometimes be a bit of a dangerous proposition, but along with the ample selection of beer, there were plenty of non-alcoholic options while the food venue was about half/half meat and no meat. Plenty of vegan options as well. The food was exceptional and perfectly portioned - cozy and familiar but with a gourmet touch. The beers were pretty decent with a good mix of styles - both cask and draught. The bartender was friendly without being overbearing and the whole joint ran very efficiently. All that and the prices were reasonable as well! Absolutely worth the walk from the main street.

Great atmophere, looks strange from the outside but great inside, good size seating area outside, the food was good and their own brewed beers are great. Good parking which is a real issue with most places in Glossop. Give it a try.

Don’t be put off by the community centre facade - Enter into what could quite happily pass internally as a trendy Shoreditch bar, full of happy locals enjoying the ambience. Tasty (up and coming) beer, nicely cooked quality food at fantastic value. Can’t go wrong if you’re in the Glossop area. Great stuff, and I hope it stays strong.

Best pleased with this place … been a couple of times now and the food is really loved in its creation and I just got a pint and they took the glass out of the fridge … SATISFYING! They do that everywhere in America and over here we just get cider in a warm bitter glass haha! Great vibes, great food, great drinks choices and local brewery right next door !

We had the ox cheek and some chips. The chips were actually still raw and the ox cheek had literally no seasoning. It might have been a bad night for them but their prices aren't cheap so we expected better. Wine and the actual bar is good though

Unbelievable food, welcoming staff and great atmosphere. Well worth the 40-minute drive and will definitely be back again for a Sunday roast.

Went Saturday 20 January, What a shame about this place, they have made an effort to smarten the place up , but!!! Charging £28 for a bottle of Prosecco is scandalous, might pay it in a nice wine bar but Howard town brewery , shame on you !!!

I've been here before just for a few beers which are exceptional but decided to try it out for Sunday Lunch with my family. Very glad we did, the options are limited 2 meat and one vegi based but the quality is excellent , really well cooked definitely pass the roast potato test and good portion size at a reasonable price. They do smaller portions of the same options for the kids. All in all a great experience as yet it would seem relatively undiscovered. We will be back soon. Also fabulous selection of desserts.

This place used to be really good, but our recent visit was a disappointment. The bar area itself was freezing, people were sat in their coats etc, they really need to invest in some heating. The Sunday lunch was luke warm and the veg undercooked. The beer was poorly kept and pulled, which considering it's a brewery tap is pretty shameful.

Absolutely love this place. I get my beer here for my man cave at home but still love coming to the open days in the tap. Have been on the brewery tour and I have to say, although I was not really bothered about the tour, as had been on several before, found it both informative and entertaining. Stu, Emma and the gang are fabulous. Always been made to feel very welcome both as a new customer and a now a member. Times have changed massively at this place, its no longer a brewery but it still has its bespoke beers brewed elsewhere, there has been a change of management, chef, refurbishment. It was a quaint little tap room, now it is a premier venue for weekend family parties, works dos, you name it. You can still sit at the bar with a reasonably priced quality pint of ale and shoot the breeze with the very friendly bar staff. Food is excellent too so give it a try if you haven't already. Change is not always bad.

Visiting a friend in Glossop and she suggested Sunday lunch at this place. What a find - we had beef short rib with all the trimmings and it was so delicious and great value at £30 for 2. Great service and atmosphere too and will definitely be back next time I am in Glossop.

A quick pit stop on the way back from looking at caravans (it’s how I roll). A small craft brewery in an unexpected spot. I think you’re unlikely to find it if you didn’t do a Google search for ‘nearby pubs’. Not your usual building but inside was classic industrial/contemporary craft bar style. Decent beer and plenty of food orders going in so can only assume good food. We sat out side but the beer garden is tired old benches, on a slope and a bit muddy due to lots of bare grass spots. Definitely a good pit stop.

We were staying in the area for a couple of days and called in on Saturday evening, and liked it so much we returned after a hike on Sunday lunch time. Thank goodness the roast dinners weren’t sold out, it was amazing - one of the best I have had. Great beer Great food Great atmosphere and friendly service. I only wished I lived near enough for it to be my local!

A little gem of a place and we could've happily stayed all evening and not moved. A good range of drinks on offer and my partner thoroughly enjoyed the Distant Hills offerings. Although a small menu, the food we had was fantastic. We also really appreciated the staff - they were courteous and polite making us feel welcome (which you don't always get in other places) and they also clearly know their stuff! Next time we are in Glossop, we'll definitely be returning.

A small taproom with a decent sized garden attached to a small brewery, what’s not to like? The 4 cask beers and several draft beers, all brewed on the premises, were superb. The recently revamped food offering was equally superb. We received a warm welcome, great service and had a very enjoyable evening. We look forward to visiting again.

I’ve been a few times over the last year, it’s a beautifully rustic local brewery & bar, great range of ales and wine too for the other half. Food was fantastic too!

Was quiet inside when we arrived although busy with no vacant seats outside so we were forced to sit inside. When we entered the smell of fried foods was overpowering which was off putting however we intended to eat so made our way to the bar to order drinks. The menu was very limited with nothing to entice us as we were looking for some sort of sharing platter/ plate. We finished our drink quickly and moved on

Great food and great beer. We called in after a rainy walk and had the most amazing warming haddock chowder. If only we weren’t driving we would have stayed for a few more!!

This brewery outlet and restaurant has a pleasant green setting in Old Glossop with outdoor and indoor seating, helpful staff and imaginative options on the menu, including vegan and veggie ones - a lot of the options are light bites rather than full meals, and of course there are the various house beers. The pictured jerk chicken dish really was divine and as you can see also nicely presented. I liked the chef's dedication and enthusiasm. It's worth going to try some dishes that are a bit different, even if you're not big on beer. On that topic, I haven't the heart to deduct a star for it, but it is a shame that no alcohol-free beer is on offer, and secondly, I once ordered a home-brewed 'Hefeweizen' which is a German-style wheat beer cloudy with yeast in it, and it was served lukewarm. Being firstly German and secondly a refreshing summer drink this type of beer absolutely needs to be consumed properly chilled!

Discovered this place in lockdown, outdoor seating in the sun was fun. Haven't had chance to come back until yesterday. Back for more again today. The beers are amazing, a pint of odessy is perfect after a breezy hike. Bratwurst and curry sauce the perfect accompaniment - best curry/chutney I've ever tasted. Very cool venue, amazingly staff, very relaxed. Look forward to eating a full meal soon.

The beer is outstanding and the service and staff were super friendly. I found the bar area very cool with a great relaxed atmosphere. I also tried an interesting craft brewed with the additional juniper berries. It was outstanding 👍. My son and his friend also had a small plate of food which they absolutely loved....my son is a foodie. I would definitely go back. Loved the place.

Great brewery tap. Had the Bukhara cask IPA which was great and a bit different than your usual IPA, also a solid pale ale. Great burgers with proper chips and friendly staff. Highly recommended.

Surprising atmosphere where pastel colours dominate and they play music that casually swears, this somewhat removes a "family friendly" atmosphere (I have no issue with the music per se, however, not ideal when eating with my 3yo and OAP parents!). The beer is good, but the food (whilst tasty) is small, pricey (£12 for a vegan burger with no sides), not always expected (the currywurst was a cut up sausage in curry sauce?!), and took an hour to arrive. Come for the beer, expect little else (why would you from a brewery?! 🤦)

Fantastic food as ever this exceptionally busy weekend. My slow-roast belly pork was absolutely on-point: fat properly rendered with perfect crackling, so rarely executed well, bravo! Everything just great, chips amazing, good non-meat options with equal commitment to deliciousness. A real gem.

Really welcoming staff, great beer and nice vibes at the brewery. A lot of beer choices and great food, vegan options. Garden beer gets sun throughout the day. For sure I will be back soon. I really recommend trying the rosemary camembert.

Great tap menu - had the shrimp and king prawn, plus bavette of beef small plates (which was better than one I had at The Ivy earlier in week 😲). Beer was Distant Hills Pilsener. All very reasonably priced - an excellent experience - in a small brewery- give it a go !

Used to love this place, but the new small plates menu is really disappointing. Don't seem the right options (and too expensive) to just have as bar snacks. But also very expensive to get enough to make a meal of it as they are so small (especially the garlic mushrooms!). Uninspiring vegetarian/vegan selection. The vegan bratwurst was put off stock which really didn't leave many other options. Sadly after a lot of great meals here off the old menu, I won't be eating here again.

Craft and cask brewery in the shadow of the dark Peaks, with three keg lines, five cask and bottles & cans on offer. Currently has a fantastic kitchen residency by Chef Dan, serving meaty small plates to die for. Dog friendly, inside and outside space. Very friendly!

Normally would of given 5 stars but they have taken the cheese board of the menú. Lots of quality ales but now lacking savoury local cheeses

A bit mad with people crowding/leaning over us as we ate at our table. Small bar with people sat on stools in front meant it was difficult to order. Meals are reasonably priced. Side dishes are huge and, with the exception of the battered mushrooms, were amazing. Vegan burger was good. Beer is as local as it can get and was nice.

Great food, locally created and brewed craft ale and a barman that sings Les Miserables for last orders, simply amazing, will be going back soon. Keep up the good work.

What a gem! Absolutely will be coming back, even though it's quite far for us. Brilliant beers. You've got to try the cheese board, between us two we struggled to finish it, needed a help from our friends!

Can’t recommend the service highly enough. Great beers ordered online and delivered to the door within days. I struggled to connect through to my beer engine through my own incompetence. Stuart couldn’t have been more helpful over email. Absolutely stunning level of service. Can’t wait to make the short trip over to Glossop in person to see the brewery in person when circumstances allow.

Great beer and a great brewery. Both having a pint or two onsite or ordering the beer for delivery to your door. Always first class and much loved.

Ordered a few of the beers online in the bag in a box format. The beer is fantastic and the delivery is the same day, if you order early enough. A 10 Litre box will stay good for a month, although the longest its lasted in my "pub" is 2 and a half days so I couldn't confirm or deny this!!!

Howard Town have done an amazing job in making it all work in the current Covid situation. Great beers and great service.
