By far one of the best if not the best place to eat in Alford and the surrounding areas , great service , great food , portion size.is huge and it's all top quality you couldn't ask for anything more

This is Alford's best takeaway and my word don't the locals know it. With locally sourced food cooked to perfection 0wen's is an absolute gem. Having had several meals from owen’s my conclusion is 10/10.

Spent 3 mornings in Alford, early July 2022. Was looking forward to trying out this "cafe". It was never open on those 3 mornings (between 9am and 12.30pm), no sign of life just a pile of wooden flooring leaning up against the wall inside the door. Why was it called a cafe when there looked to be no room for tables?

The food here is simply amazing. High end food for a good price and the quantity will not dissapoint. Friendly staff and wide range on the menu. Food for all the family. This is a must try if never been or visiting the area! We will be returning very soon! 😄🤤 Thanks, The Deardens!

Was looking forward to going here for breakfast only to find it closed- business should probably make sure they’re open when their website says they are, or change their opening hours to reflect reality.

What a little treat this place is, food is absolutely amazing, I can never decide what I want so I always order a surprise box. I’ve never once been disappointed - the food is always piping hot, and as for the portions, we’ll let’s just say they are “massive” and for the price of a greasy pizza and chips from the other takeaways, you get a box full of fresh cooked ingredients that leave your taste buds crying with joy. Nothing is ever too much for these guys. I worked away for over 20 years, living in hotels, eating in pubs, restaurants and takeaways - so it’s safe to say I’m well travelled and this place is up there at the top of the list. I don’t often leave reviews but this place has been amazing for this town, when lock down kicked in, so did this place! It gave us all something to talk about, they adapted from being a Cafe to delivering restaurant standard food, honestly the only thing we’d look forward too was an “Owens” on the weekend. Now the lock down has ended, this place certainly hasn’t. The food is still as amazing as ever. Thanks from all of us, keep up the great work. 👌 If you’ve not been, your missing out! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Seriously the best place around for a takeaway - Since Covid this beautiful family run business opened their doors to a takeaway service serving the most incredible home cooked food using fresh local produce - the service is always totally outstanding and you really couldn’t ask for more.

If you like good food and want value for money then you can't go wrong with Owens Cafe on the Cobbles. The portion sizes are immense, flavours are great and there's something for everyone. He will meet any requirements (especially for a fussy eater like me lol). Brilliantly adapted a sit in business to a very good takeaway. If you're staying in or around Alford I cannot recommend this enough.

Average food, not the worst I’ve had but equally not the best. Service was extremely disappointing due to the lack of decorum from the staff. I took my elderly mother and her elderly brother for some lunch out. When taking our order, our waiter interrupted us and when I tried to order food, he snapped “just drinks”. The service from this man was utterly disrespectful and rude to us. After our overpriced lunch, I asked one of our waiters to point out the direction of the toilets. He told me that the toilets were out of use to the public and had been for the last 18 months. After asking if there were any pleases nearby I could go, he told me to go in a bush. I could see that one of his co workers was taken back by his comment by her physical and verbal response. He mad my family and I feel rather unwelcome and we certainly will not be eating there again.

I have been there a few times before Covid struck. The staff were friendly, the place exceptionally clean, I loved having a slate plate so unique and the food ws superb. Hope to visit again when everything is fully open and back to normal.

The first time I've had takeaway from Owen's cafe and I've got to say it was the best takeaway I've had by far. We will be definitely going again!!

Absolutely a favourite for regular treat nights. A hearty sized portion, great tasting home cooked food. One of the best discoveries to come out of lock down.

Owen and his family run this amazing establishment and have worked tirelessly through these hard times to provide a fantastic service for our small town. Owen and Emma are both extremely friendly and greet you by name every time you visit. The food is delicious, it’s great value for money and never in the 9 years of living in Alford have I ever had a poor experience here. Alford is lucky to have this place and Owen and his family deserve to be successful through these hard times because of the effort they’ve put in. I had the most amazing takeaway from here last night, what can I say it was all home cooked, fresh, delicious and excellent value for money, I want to say a huge thank you to Owen and staff even though you’ve been closed to the public thanks to Covid since March, you never fail to amaze

I've had to date this back to November 2019 but I've been going here since growing up Owen is a kind guy with a real passion for food his mum and dad were brilliant and watch me grow up through the years me and my gran always went as a kid is always always my highlight when I left Alford I always speak about the cafe to my friends who have said one day they want to visit if your get chance go I highly recommend you visit the place even for a takeaway I know for a fact his mum and dad would be so proud with what he has done and how far he has come keep up your amazing food skills Owen and Emma

Stopped for lunch today with my toddler and mum and was pleasantly surprised! There is a booster seat for kids as they don’t have a high chair but this worked perfectly. I had the southern fried chicken, mum had sweet chilli chicken and I asked if my toddler could have a Childs portion of the fish goujons. All the food was amazing, large portions and we all left feeling full. Reasonably priced and everything tasted lovely and fresh. Staff were really nice and I will definitely be back!

Best food place in town, would highly recommend to anyone. Normally sit in but today got this fantastic takeaway box with some dirty fries aswell. Treated the family and they absolutely loved it and will be definitely visiting again. Many thanks Owen for another great meal.

We've been eating here for several years and absolutely cannot fault the place, from the friendly staff to the lovely plentiful food. We regularly come in for either breakfast or lunch. Breakfast is always generous and well cooked. My favourite is the classic with added fresh mushrooms. For lunch I generally opt for the sweet chilli chicken and it is superb.

Popped in for a quick baguette for lunch . What can I say it was the tastiest baguette I’ve ever had . When passing through Alford I know where I’ll be stopping from now on . Excellent service and great value for money .

A nice menu to cover all tastes in food nice friendly staff. Im a fairly big eater but was more than enough on plate for me and a plentiful supply of tea.

Went in this morning for a breakfast and the food was amazing value for money and the staff was very attentive

I have been here a few times ,sometimes just for a coffee with friends or to eat,never had a bad meal & always struggle to finish as there is plenty on your plate, the staff are very friendly and helpful

Great food. Lovely ambience and nice setting in the town square. However inaccessible for wheelchairs and no ramps offered.Also told no food being served an hour before closing. It is a shame this cafe has these drawbacks as it could be excellent.

Went for lunch today (our first visit). It was delicious. We had the Club Sandwich and a fishfinger sandwich. Both very good quality and tasty. The orange juice and bounty hot chocolate were also very good. Well worth a visit.

We almost didn't get a table this morning, but a friendly local couple gave theirs up for us. The food was very good and my English breakfast was so large that I had to leave part of it. This is definitely the place to have breakfast in Alford and there is plenty of parking adjacent to it. The coffee was very good too. We felt very welcome here.

We called into this lovely little cafe on a cold, wet and windy day for something warm and welcoming. The welcome was immediate and friendly and the lunch arrived shortly after, inexpensive, plentiful, delicious and filling. Highly recommended, particularly as the rest of the town appeared to be closed, including the Information Bureau!!

With 20 minutes left on our parking we decided to pop in this nviting looking cafe for hot drinks. We were acknowledged by 1 member of staff who wiped the table but no order taken. The blonde haired lady then came past with an order and said I will be with you shortly. A while later we ordered our drinks, the woman then proceeded to go back behind the counter where I heard her discussing a shopping list and started writing that out...no drinks were being made. In and out again with a few more orders, still no sign of drinks being made, the other member of staff was then sent to get shopping. Customer came in and went to counter again he was told, I'll be with you in a minute. Eventually she served him and started making his drink, as our parking was now nearly up and still no sign of any drinks being made we left.

I use Cafe on the cobbles regular for my lunch it’s a cracking little cafe that can feed a large appetite. They also have a take away option and one of mine and my colleagues firm favourites is the sweet chilli chicken baguette which is a must for anyone. The staff are always polite and helpful. When dining in I would recommend the rack of ribs or the burgers. But I must say I’ve not had a bad meal yet.

Passed this little place many times but never ventured in pleased I did on this occasion. Great menu with lots to offer especially for a friend who's a vegetarian, very tasty food and great service a place not to be missed.

We have eaten here many times over the years. It majors on really good Breakfasts, but it has always offered plenty of veggie options. I think it has changed ownership, though, and each time we have visited recently there have been fewer veggie things on offer, so we might not be visiting much in future. Shame, because it is a nice place.

Me and my business partner came for a spot of lunch, we thought yes let’s go to cafe on the cobbles recently rebranded as Owens which is very fitting.

I went for breakfast this morning, The food was fantastic and service was quick, The portion size was just right. I would highly recommend a visit👍🏻

Came out for a smackerel of lunch, and it was delicious I had a southern fried chicken burger ! Owen knows how to handle meat :-)

We had a toasted bacon and cheese sandwich and a cheese sandwich. Both were excellent with a nice salad and fresh coleslaw. The coffee and pot of tea were boiling hot - just as they should be. Staff were friendly. We would definitely visit again.

Called in for lunch with a friend. Actually had a vegetarian breakfast of soda bread, avocado, tomatoes and poached egg. The toasted bread was a little hard to chew but this is only a small criticism. The breakfast was very tasty and the poached egg was perfect. The cafe itself could benefit from a bit of a facelift, but don’t be put off!

Visited last week for lunch. Everything was extremely well cooked as was the presentation. The decor is convivial and the staff and owner very accommodating. The portion size is extremely good and always come away feeling full. Also have had breakfast here many times and have to say that the chef is one of the few who can cook scrambled eggs to my liking!! Well done to this lovely cafe.

Went for a spot of lunch with my golfing buddies, walked in and it’s a lovely modern look, the food was brought out promptly so were our drinks. A vast selection of food is just what Alford needs.

Went for some lunch with a friend today and when we received our meals we were the only two people in the premises apart from staff our order was wrong as we ordered no salad or sauce on our burgers both came with mayonnaise and bbq sauce on so sent them back because 1.as I’m allergic to mayonnaise and pregnant and two my friend doesn’t like bbq sauce the waitress took out meals back and he shouted at the top of his voice “STUPID STUCK UP FAT B**CH we will never attend this place again !

Went to Lloyds bank and called in for Breakfast. Smiling cheerful servers. Ordered Special breakfast, server warned me "Hope your hungry" being a pair of larger chaps we laughed. She was correct, it was BIG and also DELICIOUS, we both came away totally satisfied. A great little place. Worth a visit.

We stumbled across this lovely little place after a long walk in the countryside. The menu was extensive, food was excellent and service food and friendly. What a find and we will definitely be returning! Definitely recommend.

Cafe was cold, told to move, still cold, closed the door but it was opened by staff. Egg and mushrooms burnt. Toast cold by the time the breakfast came.. Just average. Coffee OK though

This is a small family run Cafe that serves excellent freshly made food The service is very good and the staff very friendly. This does mean it gets busy as locals know the best place to eat ! So don't expect fast food style service, just sit back and enjoy the wait.

Whilst house searching in Alford, estate agent recommended this place to go and have something to eat. The menu is extensive and had a great breakfast with one of their speciality coffees. Well cooked and plenty of it.

called in again this week after not been in for a long time and what a transformation the place has been though .out side looks stunning in the new grey coat ,makes it look crisp and fresh .the menu has had a face lift to ,again very good service great staff and food as you would expect from alfords 1st rate eating house ,give it a go you wont be disapointed

Came in with my 2 little ones, the service was outstanding happy to accommodate and do kids portion - the food came and wow it was fantastic - nice large portions cannot fault it - must say this week around Alford Lincolnshire as left us to come back for more .

Called in for a hearty breakfast and cracking selection if flavoured coffees. Good selection of breakfast,snacks and main meals. Amazingly different types of hot chocolate. Just a good old fashioned cafe in a nice market town.

Dropped in with the family for a quick lunch, was delighted to see such a great food offering. We were served very quickly and efficiently, I would thoroughly recommend the sausage, bacon and egg sandwich it was excellent.

I am a local pastor ( roy) and i often go to owens for a breakfast, the other day i went in for the chilli chicken, it was fantastic and the portion was very generous, I have always been made welcome and to feel at home, owen does a sterling job and i would 100% recommend this cafe to anybody, food is cooked hot and fresh and served very well presented, before my job i was a chef so understand the hard work involved. Very friendly - and busy! - little place in the market square. Simple food, but a surprising range of choice, served in clean surroundings by a couple of nice people.

I rarely leave reviews because so many are just slating the owners. But when I do it’s because the place deserves it and in this instance it really does. Having had the historic benefit of working globally I have eaten in a fair few places that are run of the mill good food, conversely some that are well unprintable. But again this place is fantastic.

We visited the Cafe on the Cobbles on spec collecting something we had purchased near by. After ordering we were told by the waitress that would have to wait a long time for food. We did wait a long time but the staff couldn't have been more apologetic and gave us free drinks. That day the Cafe was extremely busy. When the food came it was very nice and was worth waiting for. We would definitely go back.

Have just come back from the South of France - Owen's croissants outrank every bakery we tried - you HAVE to try them - I thought his scones were out of this world but Owen you have truly surpassed yourself!

Family run cafe with excellent customer service. Photgenic premises dating back well over 100 years. Excellent quality fresh produce. Menu comprises both snack and breakfast/lunch dishes- hot and cold. All reasonably priced for quality ingedients. Home made pizzas are just wonderful.

Went in with my husband and went to order a certain dish but discovered it wasn't available. Asked for something else and that also was out of stock! Eventually I ordered scampi and it was much overpriced and was bad quality. I won't be returning.

Went for lunch on Tuesday, then breakfast on Thursday followed by lunch on Friday. In case you haven't guessed we love it. It's small, the staff are friendly and the food is delicious. This is because the owner knows how to cook and where possible he cooks from fresh. This means home made burgers, chilli chicken and scones to die for (get one to take away they're only 75p and huge). Breakfast was really nice using local ingredients. Onion rings are fresh and very tasty. Southern fried chicken has a lovely coating (we would have liked a bit more heat in the coating but that's just our preference). We didn't have a pizza but they looked lovely and the chef makes his own pizza dough. So, the moment you've all been waiting for, The winner is the Chilli chicken. The batter is light and the chilli sauce is sticky and yummy. You can really tell that it's home made. We travel 8 miles to go here and it's worth it. There are lots of cafes nearer to us but this is now officially our favourite. Enjoy.

this is a reliable cafe to eat whether panini or brekkie or something more basic/simple. Its sited in the middle of Alford town and infact off the market. You may be lucky to park nearby free or pay a small price in the adjoining car park. Prices fair and food good ps even the scones

We stopped off in Alford on out way back from Anderby Creek and we stumbled across this great little cafe. The staff and food were great and I would highly recommend.

Top notch Meal with top class ingredients. This family run place just keeps on amazing me with the food, They are always looking to improve the quality for the sake of the customer, nothing is to much trouble always cater for the children. If you want a quality home cooked meal with you quality ingredients this is for you. I could go on and on best thing I can say is try it for yourself you won't be disappointed.

Popped in with my mum for a small lunch! Came away so full we didn't eat the rest of the day!Fabulous food, fresh and nicely presented. Staff are very helpful and courteous. A real bonus for the town of Alford. A pity nothing else open in the market place and the rest of the town is so " tired".We will return!

One of the best places to eat around this area. Restaurant style food amongst other great traditional style cafe snacks and meals. The chef is always concerned about making the food the best it can be, the staff are always willing to help and do service with a smile. It does get quite busy but that just shows how popular it is amongst all ages. I come here quite often, 5 STARS!!

I live in the North West and only visit Alford 3-4 times a year, but every visit I make to Alford includes at least one stop at Cafe on the Cobbles. Whether you arrive at the cafe first thing in the morning to beat the rush, (the busyness is evidence enough of the quality of food and service) or if you arrive during the busiest lunch time hour, you are always served a meal that not only fills a (big) hole, but also tastes delicious.The menu varies from numerous types of all-day breakfasts, to a plethora of specials, vegetarian food, lighter meals, and good local fish. There's something for everyone!The cafe is only small, but this gives it that genuine home-cooked meal feeling, which complements the wholesome food no end. I can't compliment Cafe on the Cobbles enough. I have been eating there for years and will continue to do so. It gives me something more to look forward to on my visits back to Lincolnshire.

Was in the village and decided to grab a late lunch. Seated ourselves.. Just a couple of older folk already eating. As we were perusing the menu a large group of younger people came in who were generally pretty loud to the extent that we couldnt even concentrate on the menu we were looking at. We really should have just left but were so hungry we stayed hoping they would quieten down.Menu, the usual choice of breakfasts, rolls, paninis, sausage & chips etc. Half a dozen mains which were priced around £6.95, didnt fancy any of those so ordered breakfasts.It was served up pretty quickly with teas. Most of the cafes around the surrounding areas that Ive visited seem to fill the plate and it looks inviting. Unfortunately this really did not and tasted bland.The tea was ok.So we ate our food surrounded by the loudness of the near table and couldnt wait to get out of there.Ive since read the reviews and the chilli chicken came up trumps, shouldve had that !However as the place is really small noise issues really cant be avoided..Not sure that we would eat there again.

We went in, sat down and read the menu. So disappointed. It might have been a long time since we were last here but they used to do lovely cooked proper dinners. We came straight out and went elsewhere for lunch.

It was a quiet afternoon and we were served quickly despite ordering off the menu as we only wanted a light bite not a full meal. What we got was a very generous snack and was cooked perfectly. And as for their hot chocolates.... they were honestly one of the best drinks I've had, they balanced the sweetness and thickness without making it too sickly. Such a lovely place and I will definitely be returning despite living 20 mins from Alford

A very beautiful little cafe, with charm and character. My Wife and i try to visit at-least once a month. The staff are very friendly and accomidating and the food is always very tasty and perfectly presented. We have honestly not had a bad expierence here yet in all the years.

Totally stunning fresh local food. Always presented perfectly and if you can get past the chilli chicken your doing better than me.The staff are so friendly it's like sitting in a room with friends.Clean tidy and always a fantastic place to eat. The chef is so fantastic it's sometimes hard to eat the food as it always looks so beautiful on the plate can't recommend this delicious cafe highly enough five stars are not enough so go try it out its just fantastic.

Lovely little cafe ... nice food and reasonably priced.. other customers and staff very friendly.. only small niggle would be that the chips weren't cooked enough...all the larger ones were still hard.. perhaps need blanching first?
