The Brookfield in South Derbyshire

We went for the Sunday dinner and both got a large. For a large we got 1 very small spoon of mash, looked like an ice cream scoop, 3 very small roast potatoes, a ball of stuffing, a large portion of cabbage, 3 peas (literally 3 peas) 2 yorkshire puddings and quite a fair portion of beef. We both found the beef chewy, the cabbage was undercooked and the gravy was watery. We were both disappointed to have left still hungry. 😔

Walked in late. Ordered chilli & rice. First class service at the bar and from the kitchen. A great village pub by any standard.

First time we have visited and were a party of seven adults and two dogs. The menu is not extensive but there was something to please everyone. The prices are very responsive and the meals were hot,tasty and plenty full. Any condiments we asked for were available and we all enjoyed ourselves. The dogs were brought biscuits and a bowl of water. The staff were cheerful and helpful. The place is clean and bright and airy. Would recommend and will call again next time we are in the area.

1st time visit for pool match , clean and tidy and pleasant staff . Will have to give it a try for a family meal.

Great pub grub! We had the classic cheese burger and a hot and spicy pizza. Really tasty at a good price. Will definitely go again

I have never been to such a worse resturant/pub in all my life, the owner was extremely rude, ignorant, arrogant, and argumentative, the breakfast we ordered half the items including toast were cold, other items luke warm, was ignored on arrival, asked 3 times for cutlery, drinks were forgotten, they changed the first breakfast with an attitude and substituted for a smaller breakfast, which we paid for a larger one, then gave us the reasoning that we had eaten a small amount. The Second breakfast the black pudding was undercooked bacon was rock hard and burned, politely asked for a refund which she laughed in my face at, she continued to argue it, Managed to get a refund, to then the money aggressively was slapped in my hand, and she walked away. Extremely disgusted with the lack of customer service and food.

We came for a drink at night time, good atmosphere, played pool, average range of drinks. We then returned for breakfast in the morning. Breakfast was very good.

Lovely place, and staff. Coffee ( cappuccino) was week n milky, food when ordered arrived with several items missing, when questioned the staff explained they had run out?? If we had been advised we would have re selected. So not best pleased, the bit we did get was nice.

We were camping at Hill Farm. Went yesterday to The Brookfield to watch the England game and had to revisit today. The staff were very friendly, couldn't do enough for you. The home made food was delicious and very reasonably priced. Would definitely use again if we come back to the area. 10/10👏👏

The Brookfield describes itself as ‘a country pub’ but it really isn’t so don’t go expecting beams and open fires. It’s a big place, has a small bar area (the Bass my partner had was excellent by the way) and the food was good too. The decor is modern but it’s a bit too open plan for me and with a large tv on quite loud it felt more like a social club than a country pub.

At the first sight I wasn't very impressed with the place, and was worried what the food was going to be like but I had nothing about the food was amazing the staff were amazing and friendly and accommodated for the children.

What a beautiful place indeed! Michelle runs a tight ship, ensures that all her customers are happy & fed & watered. Even in a Sunday when they usually only do roasts, I was given a lovely chicken & bacon salad. Everyone got a free shot when England scored! We were only around for a long weekend & went for dinner twice! Food amazing, house wine just beautiful & all at an extremely reasonable price. Will definitely be back! Thank you 🌻💜🌻

Really wonderful food! Getting famous for their burgers - I'm sure the rest of the food is decent too I just can never bring myself to order anything else! They have cold beers, draught ale and good wine too! Peaceful outdoor seating and plenty of space inside, what more could you ask for! Trust me once you've tried the food you'll be back time and again!

a lovely pub and restaurant just 10 minutes walk from our campsite. All staff were really friendly and myself, my partner and Boris the dog felt very welcome. Will definitely be going back.

Great place food lovely and always a warm welcome

The staff was nice and drinks were cheap, but avoid food at all costs. Burger was fried to the state of resin and pizza is actually a flatbread which was put in the microwave.

Great venue, went to a birthday party tonight, friendly, reasonable bar prices...good food.

What more could you want from your local? Friendly people, great food (the burgers are amazing, and the pizzas), dogs are allowed. They keep a good pint and have a decent selection, always a couple of ales on tap. Will worth dropping in on 👍 And yes, the toilets are ridiculously clean!
