Nice homely friendly pub serves great pizzas

It would be better if coke was served over pepsi but thats a personal preference.

Yet another lovely little booza... go there!

1st time visiting this pub, on arrival we had such a warm friendly welcome from the lady at the bar, served us some delicious burgers which I would definitely recommend, when leaving our car would not start, (we live 30miles away!) Andy went out of his way and offered to help, which he did, after a jump start we was able to go home, not that we didn’t want to stay longer! Thank you so much Andy u saved our day!

I recently visited the Red Lion at Repton, and I was impressed by the warm and friendly atmosphere. The staff were incredibly welcoming, creating a pleasant experience. The Guinness served was top-notch, perfectly poured, and had a rich, satisfying flavor. Although I didn't get a chance to try the food this time, the anticipation is high, and I'm looking forward to exploring their menu on my next visit. Overall, a delightful pub with excellent service and a promising culinary experience ahead.

Had the most lovely lunch here today , cheesy norman , which was the best pizza I've ever had , it was huge ! My partner had the cod goujons with chips and mushy peas ..looked amazing..very large portions for what you pay , the sun was out so sat outside.. highly recommend ☺️well done guys you've got it right ! Menus don't have to be fancy pants or over-complicated just good honest well presented food with a taste of passion 😁

Nipped in while staying with friends, my beer was off, and Jimmy politely came to me and exchanged it for another beer. Plus he also give me the difference in cash. Very good service indeed. But I don't live the outside area, not pleasant enough and top garden too far from pub. But I did enjoy our visit.

Lovely sunny day, cold beer, relatively quiet when we went. Not many people about so able to enjoy the outside area and large car park, later as it’s Saturday louder youngsters are congregating as per and so it was sadly time to go x

Good pub once again but the beer garden is lacking some attention. The barman was very friendly and attentive.

Great deals on pizza and beer on a Thursday night! Service is a little slow when busy, but the pizzas are amazing and worth the wait.

Had a drink of real ale as they do not do food on a Monday but with a special offer of £1 off each pint it was very enjoyable. Would recommend

A good local , more variety of real ales. Dogs and children welcome. Got sky sports on TV too

We called into this lovely little pub when passing, it's very clean inside, the bar staff was very friendly and helpful and there were plenty of choices of drink, we will definitely be back and hopefully try the food 😀

A very friendly gentleman by the bar, probably the landlord, made me feel very welcome and suggested a delicious soft drink, J2O, as I was a driver between vehicles awaiting my colleagues to whisk me elsewhere. Comfortable furnishings, pleasant feel to the place. BTW, Repton seems to be a charming little town, even in the rain!

Reading the other reviews, it would appear we went on the wrong day. We popped in for a beer at about 4pm on a one Sunday afternoon and it was dead. The little atmosphere that there was being drowned by the sound of the small TV showing a film on ITV. Not the best unfortunately.

Attentive new manager though poor attitude to cider offering said it's brewery fault. Good Luck.

Fabulous welcome & hospitality from the landlord & landlady. Sunday Lunch was delicious & very reasonably priced. Excellent pedigree (other real ales were also available) & the service was excellent. A lovely village pub with a nice, cosy atmosphere, very clean & definitely worth a visit! Will be returning.

Arrived 1pm, party of four. Told to be seated then advised that there were only two options for lunch. We said that was fine and that we would be happy with the beef sandwiches. After a while the barman returned looking sheepish and the conversation went as follows: “Sorry but the chef says she isn’t making any more food”. “It is only 1.15. Any particular reason?”. “She said she has been very busy”. “But there is hardly anyone else here”. “Sorry but she is the boss”. For all we know the food may be exquisite but the customer service is most peculiar.

Very friendly pub, good selection of drinks and the food is excellent I had a rib eye steak and it melted in my mouth. Going again tonight.

Excellent Sunday Lunch, good food at affordable prices. Homemade Yorkshire Puds, gravy .. .. .. Starters and puddings available, but I find the dinner is adequate for me.

Had Sunday lunch yesterday and it was amazing. Not pretentious, just lovely food. All the staff were so friendly. I live round the corner so will definitely be a regular!!

great pub with lovely owners. very professionally ran with lots of choice of drinks and activities and more food choices coming soon i believe. The live music nights are always fun and friendly and i hear the open mic nights go down well also.

From the far-from-friendly "welcome" when we arrived to the strong smell of poo and burnt hair in the bathroom it is actually hard to overstate how bad this place is. The rooms are like something that an incompetent three year old decorated - woodchip wallpaper and extension leads randomly clipped to the walls and ceiling. The carpet smelled strongly of wet dog and had a slightly tacky feel that meant we daren't take our shoes off.I could go on but what's the point. The bottom line is that you would be better off sleeping in the back of your car than staying here.

We stayed at The Red Lion when visiting friends in Repton. The twin rooms were charged at £50 (£25 each), cash only, no credit cards taken and no breakfast available.The room itself was ensuite and reasonably spacious but... there was a strong smell of wet dog coming from the carpet; the bathroom smelt of burnt hair; the macerator pump ran at odd intervals; there was a strong smell of excrament wafting from the shower drain; the curtains failed to block any of the light from the street light just outside the window; the window fitted so poorly and was so rotten that it felt as though we were sleeping in on the main road that ran outside the pub, such was the level of road noise.After a night at the Red Lion I was eager to get home and shower, twice!

Been a couple of times recently - heard the buzz about the new tapas and food menu. Absolutely delicious. I took a few friends with me who are more experienced with authentic tapas than I am and they all thought the food was wonderful too. Best thing for me is that I live close by and it more than competes with the 2 other pubs that serve food in the village. I'm a little bit addicted to the olives and warm bread. I'll be back for more!

Visited here on Sunday for a friend's birthday. There was about 15 of us watching the football. Very friendly staff and a brilliant atmosphere. We had tapas and wow they were incredible. The sharing board of serano ham, manchego cheese,olives and warm bread was so good. There was so much choice and each dish was amazing. Had such a fantastic afternoon. Can't wait to return.

Visited 17 July to experience the new food menu. Cracking interior, light and well lit, comfortable. Beer selection good, local and includes guest beers. Lively helpful staff ( Liam - 'the pen' Bond). Three of us sat outside and had Scampi - top quality 14 pieces with chips and salad Chicken strips - top quality again, chips salad etc Ploughmans - 3 large cheese slices, real chutney,apple,onions, grapes etc - the real deal, no paltry portions here. Service was excellent. Large TV, pool table , quiet areas, very clean. Overall an upmarket family pub, with quality as their standard. Prices - beer - slightly higher than normal Food - well under usual prices. A pleasant well priced quality evening. Thanks, nice to see a new venture, good luck
