Freindly, cosy and great food. We were staying in the apartment behind here and popped down for breakfast each morning. Ourselves and our dog where made very welcome, what a gem of a place in a lovely village. We won't hesitate to go back and can see why it's so popular.

We were staying in an apartment behind here, so had lunch on arrival. Glad we did. Really great paninis with real fresh and tasty salad and cracking chips. Following morning, would be rude not to have a full English. All was cooked beautifully, even for two teenagers, despite a wasp intrusion leading us to move indoors. Can't fault the staff either. Can see why it is so busy.

Travelled a bit out of our way to come here as have been to the tea rooms a few times before, and have always enjoyed our meal. However, today was different. Two of us had egg mayo sandwiches, which, as they usually would be, we expected to be cold. Unfortunately not. We tried to eat them as not to complain or waste them, but warm egg sandwiches just really aren't nice, and we were concerned about being ill as a result of them Eventually, we asked one of the waitresses about why they were hot, to which they said that they had run out of egg sandwich filing, so had to make it fresh. The waitress wasn't really apologetic to be honest, and even on the way out, when asked how the food was, we said that we were displeased with the sandwiches but the rest was ok, to which we barely got an apology. Unfortunately we shan't return, which is a real shame as this was always somewhere that we liked.

I live only a few miles from this cafe and have visited many times over the years. It used to be excellent, but has really gone downhill in the past couple of years. Today, while walking in the area, a friend and I called in for a light lunch. It was not busy. We gave in our order - just sandwiches, a scone and two drinks - and paid. Then we sat outside and waited, and waited, and waited. I had to go back in and ask where our food was. The response was far from gracious, in fact quite rude. We were told, quite sharply that others were before us. However, all the "others" had also been waiting. The food, when it came, was acceptable, nothing more. I had to go back inside to find the salt and pepper for myself. Altogether this was a disappointing experience. There are plenty of other, really good cafes nearby in Derbyshire, which I will be using instead.

I've always liked The Fountain, but today I am disappointed. It was The Arts Trail in Bonsall. A lovely event, supporting local artists and bringing folk and therefore business into the village. The staff in The Fountain were very grumpy and clearly not supporting the event, denying all knowledge of the event organisation. Did they think that they were going to lose business? Because they would not, and did not, looking at crowds in there. Probably the opposite in fact. My mood didn't improve when observing a disinfectant spray and cloth on the food counter! Get a grip Fountain! You are a lovely cafe in a lovely village.

We have visited this tea rooms a few times and no problem with the quality of items served. However after a walk called in the venue and pleased to see it was still open until 4pm It was 3.45pm and we needed a coffee. Went to order our drinks to be told we close at 4pm which fair enough I have no problem with venues managing their trading hours. I attempted to order our drinks to be told no we are closed everything turned off ,so bye bye! My complaint is why advertise the fact open until 4pm and sign still indicating this and we basically being kicked out at 3.45pm. Why not lock the door if this was the case? This is Derbyshire a popular tourist county,so why this reluctance with not only this venue but some others in the county, who seem to enforce a 4p curfew! We visit coffee shops most days being retired and spend a fair amount of money over a week, which should be welcome income to independant outlets after the cruel times we have had over the past two years. This attitude is turning us more to the corporates,Costa,McD's etc,we know they are reliable.

Stayed here for one night during a long-distance cycle ride in early June 2019 and couldn't be happier: the twin room was clean, welcoming and perfectly equipped with a bath and a shower. Had to check in later than expected and owner Anne couldn't have been more helpful. Full English breakfast next day was one of the best I've ever had. If you're staying in Bonsall, be mindful that dining options on an evening are very limited: the King's Head wasn't open on Saturday night (looks like it's closed down?) and the Barley Mow stops serving food at 7.50... they did take pity on us after 90 wet miles on the bike with a couple of simple sandwiches. Can't praise The Fountain more highly.

A local steered us to the tearooms when we decided to abandon our walk due to torrential rain. We were so pleased she did. The tea rooms were cosy and the food was delicious but the standout was the kindness of the owner. We arrived and stripped off all our wet kit, leaving puddles and piles of soaking bags, and their were no complaints. Staff recommended taxi firms but when none would come to get us the owner drove us to our accommodation, despite her being busy with guests arriving. Thankyou to the staff member who extended her shift for us. There is very little enroute accommodation on the Limestone Way and even less where you can get food. If I'd know the tea room did b&b; and the pubs do evening meals then we would have stopped here overnight. Bonsall is a beautiful place. Can't recommend the tea rooms highly enough.

We checked this out twice in a day, for a couple of excellent cappuccinos in the morning before walking a long section of the Limestone Way, and then again in the afternoon for tea and cakes once we’d finished. Lovely proper Earl Grey leaf tea at that, in two attractive individual teapots, and the cake (served with a little pot of clotted cream, no less) was a gorgeous moist dandelion and burdock cake - unusual and seriously more-ish. We sat outside on the attractive flagged area at the front, to take advantage of the sunny spring day, but the interior of the cafe also looked really inviting for another time - lots of old polish wood and comfortable leather and wood chairs and a lovely light feel. A great little place and definitely worth a return visit or three.

On a recommendation from a walking friend, I added Fountains Tea Room to my Derbyshire tour itinerary planned for some dear US friends - for a light snack lunch. What a find! The most natural and friendly ladies in the tearoom were great. The 3 layer 'cake stand' of 1. sandwiches, then 2. scones/cream/strawberry jam, then 3. Super cakes was just the job. We were staying in Bonsall for the weekend, 7 of us on a reunion. We had breakfast here each day. Great menu, lovely coffee and cracking food. We all enjoyed it very much. The service was smiling, friendly and efficient.

I visited these tearooms with my daughters on Friday 24th May. I have been to other tea shops in Bakewell, but Toscas is by far the best. We had afternoon tea for three of us, we sat outside in the court yard. The afternoon tea arrived and there was lots of lovely cake and sandwiches, beautifully presented, and our host friendly and gave us a warm welcome. We really enjoyed our afternoon tea, very civilised, we will defiantly be visiting again. In fact we will have a day out to bakewell just to visit Toscas .

Fantastic cafe, the icing on the cake (no pun intended) being the birds feeding next to the window. The staff are friendly and efficient and the the food is of a good standard and reasonably priced. I can't understand the few negative reviews, maybe some folk have unfeasibly high standards/expectations?

Went with my other half and had lunch. Great food, huge servings and friendly staff! Would definitely come again if passing through.

We only live about 20 minutes and driven passed many times. We stopped on the way back from Buxton. They weren’t officially open however they were more than happy to serve us. It was awful weather outside but they had the log burner going so was gorgeous and warm. Cafe was all clean. Food delicious. Cakes scrumptious. The staff are so friendly. Car park is close and large. Definitely will be going again.
