Staying in Bakewell for a week of R&R and decided on Sunday lunch at The Woodyard. It did not disappoint,we had a delicious roast beef Sunday lunch, the Yorkshire pudding and roast potatoes were epic as was the service. We will be back this week to try the burgers, which also look epic. Great service and lovely location. Thanks

Really lovely service, very friendly and attentive staff! Nice, cozy atmosphere. Dinner was mixed - the fish and chips was a generous size but very oily, the sea bass was lovely, and the woodyard burger was good. Coleslaw a bit on the liquidy side! Overall a nice evening.

We came here to celebrate our anniversary and there were 6 of us with 2 vegans and 1 gluten-free and really happy that the Woodyard was able to cater all of our needs. We ordered three mushroom risottos with one vegan & gluten free and we all enjoyed it! The risotto was really tasty and rich, the portion size was generous and very filling. By the way I had the asparagus, spinach and pea risotto (not on the menu anymore) when I visited here for the first time last year and it was amazing too! We also ordered two different burgers (Woodyard classic & pulled pork) and a vegan pizza, they were all delicious! I enjoyed my cheesecake as dessert which was beautifully presented and the ice creams, and vegan chocolate fudge cake were good too. Overall we were really happy with the food they offered. In terms of services, the staff was very attentive and friendly. They took our orders very detailed and double checking to make sure everything was right. One of them help took some group photos of us when spotted that we were taking selfies and struggled to fill 6 people in which was really kind - sometimes these small details can really touch you, especially how British people don’t usually like asking for help 🤣 Overall we really enjoyed our experience in Woodyard and would definitely recommend to anyone who visit Bakewell/Peak District to go!

Reserved a dog-friendly table for a family group... which was a three hour slot (4.45-7:45). Left my email & mobile number at time of booking and confirmed by text the day before... phoned around 5.30 to say we would arrive by 6pm only to be told the table had been given away because we hadn't arrived within 15 mins of start time as per their T&Cs... Very poor. They didn't bother to phone me before releasing the table. Their attitude was complacent, as if they were doing me a favour by reserving a table. The upshot is that we had a lovely meal at the Red Lion instead instead. I can't review their food, but my experience was zero, but 1 star is the minimum.

My husband and I visited Bakewell for our anniversary and we were so glad we came across the Woodyard. We were met with a warm welcome by the lovely and friendly staff. The menu options and specials were plentiful and we were checking out all the delicious plates coming past us. We opted for a garlic & mozzarella flatbread to start and then fish and chips and the beef & kidney stew (special) - it was all absolutely delicious. We came here three times in four days - a revelation to find a restaurant with such amazing (and extensive) vegan and gluten free options alongside a 'normal' menu, and all of it delicious! The staff were all helpful and friendly, and the extensive cocktail and mocktail menus were also excellent and much appreciated. Would really recommend for a lovely meal (and/or drink) in Bakewell - particular shout out to the vegan mushroom pasta, salmon main, and espresso martini! Would love to see a couple of vegan options on the dessert menu every night, but with such good cocktails and mocktails I didn't really feel like I was missing out.

Visited here recently as part of a large family group. Two of us had the kofta sharing platter, which was rather mean for the price (and the houmous had an odd flavour - it was missing something). The spicy meat pizza was pleasant enough, but the vegetable pizza was quite dull and tasteless. Another in our group said the steak was chewy. Overall, the food was disappointing and overpiced for what it was. The waitresses did a very good job though, considering the size of our group.

Dog friendly, child friendly, gluten free options- it's a bit hard to tick all these boxes usually but The Woodyard manages it! There's a completely separate gluten free menu available on the website which I recommend looking at ahead of your visit so you have an idea of what you might like. I personally opted for the beef and bacon burger gluten free (on the image this has a seeded bun), which came with gluten free onion rings and fries. It tasted absolutely amazing- decent meat and well cooked food. It's not fast food- it did take around 25-30 minutes for the food but it was worth the wait! If you want fast food- head to McDonald's! This is decent cooked food with great service and a lovely atmosphere. Our dog is a nervous doggo and the staff sat us in the dog area where he stayed under our table and they were attentive to asking how they could support by making sure there were no sudden movements near him, which honestly is just so considerate, we didn't expect that! For reference, my husband ordered the pulled pork burger which isn't gluten free (but there is a gluten free option for this!) so you can compare how similar the dishes are. There is also a choice of dessert if you're not stuffed- we managed to make space for Eton Mess which was the gluten free choice or all the ice creams are also gluten free if that's what you fancy! My husband opted for the profiterole tart. We were a bit defeated by it! Portion sizes are generous and we're definitely enough for us. Absolutely well worth a visit, plenty of veggie options also on the menu. Would recommend booking before your visit especially if you want a table around the midday rush.

The Woodyard is a special place within Bakewell. Usually, when I visit a restaurant, the food stands out the most, but at The Woodyard, the staff and service are just as exceptional. You are truly made to feel welcome and well looked after. The atmosphere is fantastic, and the building itself is steeped in history. I particularly enjoyed walking across the glass floor in front of the bar, which showcases the old millstream running through the building. Whilst I wanted a pizza, seeing them being eaten made me decide to go for Caesar salad. Actually not that bad, just amazingly sour. Chicken was baked well. More disappointing was the mango, quinoa salad, the last part not well cooked, which is even dangerous to eat. In the end we paid 20 pounds including French fries as there had been an error with the order. Appreciated. But the food was not good.

*****EDIT**** It can be quite apparent that the "owner" becomes EXTREMELY defensive when responding to less positive comments even to the point of shaming customers. There is no sincerity in wanting to improve despite numerous recent complaints from various people. I would suggest avoid this place entirely and to the owner maybe you need to go out there and open your eyes more to the service industry. Absolutely appaling and the worst ever experience in the F&B industry. AVOID AVOID AVOID ______________________________________ "INTERESTING" EXPERIENCE.. We came across the place walking towards the car park after a lovely day out at Bakewell. It looked really nice from the outside and food smelt good so we were thinking if we wanted to have some food alongside drinks/ coffee. Went in, decided to sit inside rather than out as we were told no food was served outside. It was still early for dinner so the restaurant wasn't full and we thought to ask if we could sit at another table because the got given 2 separate tables. Staff declined as we were a walk-in which was fine but it wasn't said it a very nice manner. At this point it started turning sour, was given ONE drinks menu to share between 6 of us, no food menu and no further service whatsoever. We waited for awhile and felt really awkward whilst other tables were being served even though we arrived before them. Ended up only having some coffees as none of the staff came to talk to us or offered any more menus. Although we were considering to get food the whole experience was so poor we were put off by it and decided to get dinner back at Nottingham and had a great experience instead. Therefore an "interesting" experience for us. Can't comment on food as we weren't given the option (menu) to try any and can't comment on service (none existed). Coffees were standard and that was about it. Interesting indeed....

Poor service, manager fobbed us off about why we had to wait over an hour for food, which we had pre ordered. We were told the pre order is purely about letting the kitchen know what to expect and not preparing the meals. We complained at the time and were told tough basically cos they were busy! I would not bother unless you have a lot of time to spare. I am also not interested in a response from the management as it will not be sincere as the attitude we got was couldn't care less! Food itself was ok and there were no issues with the waiting staff.

I wanted a cosmopolitan, it's not on the menu but they made one for me and it was gorgeous! The lamb shank dinner I had was divine. The best lamb shank I've had in a long time. It just fell off the bone and melted in your mouth. You can tell the food is cooked with love in that kitchen. I'm never disappointed! The portions you get are very decent sized too. We were greated by the host and asked for a table for two and confirmed we hadn’t booked. The place was empty apart from a table of 16 or so in the corner. So thought we should be good for a table as there were plenty. The host checked on the laptop and then mumbled something and walked over to another member of staff who was so rude. Didn’t even look up at us and whispered something to her, again not even acknowledging us. The host came over and bluntly told us we’d have to wait over 40 mins for food due to the large number of people they had in. Which was 15 people max, they had empty chairs all over the restaurant. If it was full, how would they expect to serve their guests if they couldn’t cope with the small party they had in? It was a lame excuse because clearly they didn’t want us eating there and wanted to put us off. They were rude and more than happy to turn away our custom. I never leave negative reviews but understand how important it is to be honest and ensure people know before visiting. I wish we did, then we wouldn’t have walked away annoyed feeling like we weren’t good enough to eat there!!!

If you haven't been go! We are so glad we stumbled upon this place just after we parked the car. The food really was the best I've tasted in a while. The staff were really friendly and very attentive. Bit expensive but I think that's just the area.

What a great restaurant, food delicious and staff warm and welcoming. The approach of all the staff created a great atmosphere. Highly recommend a visit, but book as it's very popular. Thanks to the staff for making our visit so enjoyable.

Lovely meal, staff were so attentive and got drinks near enough immediately. It was very busy so booking is definitely recommended.

Lovely food and great service, I had vegan (there were loads of choices on the vegan menu. Likewise lots of gluten free choices for my partner. Very relaxed vibe, I highly recommend it

Beef bourbuignon, while very tasty, did not contain any actual chunks of beef

Personally, I'm not a big fan of dogs in eating places. If I didn't tolerate it when they are on the floor, there wouldn't be many places to eat. There's not much choice these days. It seems like everywhere is 'dog friendly'. I was appalled to see that The Woodyard allows owners to sit their pooches on the seats. Doggy paws on the table go unchallenged. Owners feeding their pet at the table, from their plate, appears to be fine. Dogs walk through dirt to get to the table, then here they are on the table and on the seats. Since the seats are benches, the little darlings can put paws on unrelated customers too. This was my dining experience, sharing the space with an animal. The food is overpriced but OK. Canine diners are not.

I visited these tearooms with my daughters on Friday 24th May. I have been to other tea shops in Bakewell, but Toscas is by far the best. We had afternoon tea for three of us, we sat outside in the court yard. The afternoon tea arrived and there was lots of lovely cake and sandwiches, beautifully presented, and our host friendly and gave us a warm welcome. We really enjoyed our afternoon tea, very civilised, we will defiantly be visiting again. In fact we will have a day out to bakewell just to visit Toscas .

We only live about 20 minutes and driven passed many times. We stopped on the way back from Buxton. They weren’t officially open however they were more than happy to serve us. It was awful weather outside but they had the log burner going so was gorgeous and warm. Cafe was all clean. Food delicious. Cakes scrumptious. The staff are so friendly. Car park is close and large. Definitely will be going again.
