Great local pub, such a lovely welcome to a of ladies group from out of town! Good homemade pies and very delicious puddings. A great find! And they take dogs!

Fantastic friendly staff and food was amazing. The Steak and Ale pie is a must have. Thank you for fitting in a table of 6 on a Friday night and treating us to such good food

We had a lovely meal here at this friendly pub. Very good value and a huge dinner plenty of meat & vegetables with a lovely big Yorkshire pudding.

Proper local pub, very welcoming to our family and dog. Between us we tried all varieties of the pies - they were great. The chicken, ham and leak was particularly good, full of chicken and ham. Would Definitely return.

Stayed in Matlock for a long weekend and this pub was a few minutes walk further up a farely steep road. We drank and ate and drank some more. Owner and staff very chatty and hospitable, food was very nice. We ate there 2 times and would visit again if ever we are back that way and can survive the climb, lol.

If you are looking for a traditional pub then Sycamore Inn is the place to try. Family run pub with a great atmosphere, and even better food. Amazing steak and stilton pie, and home made cherry bakewell tart was a favourite for all the family. The staff were so welcoming and made or trip out for a 60th dinner a memorable night. Give them a go!

A great local pub with some good beer. Excellent food especially their famous beef and ale pie with real gravy. Very friendly service and cheery locals. Don't miss if you are at the top in Matlock.

Had a fantastic Sunday lunch here, homemade and everything was perfect. We were really well looked after and made to feel welcome, had homemade rhubarb pie and custard for dessert which was also delicious, portions were very generous- it took four of us to finish the pie!! Great value for money. Lovely pub with the log burner on, made it feel cosy. We will definitely be back soon. Thank you.

This is a proper pub! Really friendly, a hearty Sunday dinner and warm fire. Clearly a hit with the locals but incredibly welcoming of visitors. We couldn’t fault it and would happily drive the distance from home in Sheffield for another visit!

Popped into this pub for a couple of hours on a Friday evening when staying in Matlock for the weekend. Absolutely loved the place, the landlord and landlady were friendly, very accommodating to our little dog, and offered us a seat by the fire when the pub quitened down, which was a nice touch. Great beers and a relaxed, friendly atmosphere. It was just a shame we could only visit once.

Beautifully presented Sunday lunch, with excellent homemade Yorkshire puddings, plenty of vegetables and lovely gravy. We were made very welcome and even though the portions are generous, we just had to try the homemade apple pie (one piece with two spoons!!!)

Very rude turned up to order some food got turned away before even entering pub as apparently they didnt want my custom no reason given. Laburnham inn much nicer up the road

Sometime you go into a pub and feel an instant connection - the sycamore is such a place. It's a bit out of the way so probably more of a 'locals' pub, but even though we were visitors we had a great welcome, warm and friendly. The look of the pub interior is a bit retro, but all the better for it, bringing back so many memories of pub visits with family when I was a nipper! The Sunday roast is something else, huge portions and very tasty, they definitely came through on our special request for 'excellent roasties'! All in all a wonderful visit, could have stayed for longer but had to walk off the food on the way back down into town!

A great old pub with an appealing interior and very friendly staff . The food was all home cooked and there was plenty of choice - my partner chose the thai fish cakes and I had the king prawns ,both with garden peas ,chips and tartare sauce . Both dishes were excellent . The pub is dog friendly and even offers a doggy menu ! The top off our enjoyment it had Timothy Taylor's Landlord on draught .

Today we visited this wonderful Inn. The welcome we received after a 3.5 hour drive was extremely friendly and nothing was too much. The Sunday lunch, was one of the best lunches we had ever eaten. This is a jewel in the crown of the beautiful town of Matlock.

We stumbled across this lovely little pub whilst looking for somewhere nice and quiet to have a drink and some food. We were not disappointed. The staff were lovely and friendly and the food was absolutely lovely. A lovely little place and I'd happily recommend and will definitely be back when in the area again.

Simple, traditional pub. No frills, but good atmosphere, very friendly staff, good beers and delicious food (the steak & ale pie, in particular, was stand out). Totally recommended and will definitely revisit next time we're in Matlock.

Beautiful 16th century coaching inn, very comfy. pleasant and spacious beer garden, too. We did not eat but I suspect that it will be good food since everything else is a 5 star service. staff are very friendly and helpful plus the price of drinks is very reasonable highly recommended .....and we will be going back (hopefully for some food, too!!) Dog friendly as well....what more could you want!!!

On a weekend away with friends and visited this evening. Really walk and chatty welcome, all of the staff we encountered were great. The food was delicious, two had pies and one had chicken, all spot on! Will definitely visit again and we highly recommend. 👏🏼👏🏼

£14.00 for a Luke warm pie on a cold plate, sent it back and it returned slightly warmer than before on a cold plate. Very disappointed, it's easy to get food hot. No excuses. 👎 Not be going back. Never been 65 degrees, it was that cold I could have stuck my nob in it. Nob

Stellar spot in Matlock for home-cooked vittles and finely drawn ales. True Northern British hospitality, they welcomed in my little American family with warmth, making us feel right at home. Everything a pub, inn, & restaurant could aspire to; I was proud of the chance to show my girls the finer points of British pub-culture with this cozy den! Andrew proved attentive and charming as he secured us dining and drafts even at an hour well past the kitchen’s retirement. Can’t say enough about this place. If you’re in Matlock, join the locals for pints, grub, & laughs forgetting your troubles for a time among the beautiful rolling hills of the district!

Fantastic meal here tonight, we had the homemade burger, the chicken curry and the homemade steak and ale pie with proper gravy. This is a small pub used by locals and could probably benefit from a coat of paint but please don’t let that put you off. The hosts were very welcoming, the chef would not be out of place in a high class restaurant, his homemade food, especially the steak and ale pie, full of chunks of quality beef, was so tasty, it did not disappoint and the gravy…was to die for. If you’ve only ever had the “ ahhh bisto “ kind of gravy, you don’t know what you’re missing.

Found this pub through Tripadvisor & we’re so pleased we did . A lovely unpretentious locals pub that really made us feel like we were having a drink & a bite to eat in someone’s home . A perfect no frills option on Sunday roast - chicken or beef or a veg option . The roasts were very good - the beef was good & the veg option was declared excellent . A Bakewell tart with custard was shared by us & I’m glad we had it - totally fab as well . Obvious love & care goes into the cooking & it shows . Service was excellent & friendly - haven’t had a pint of Bass in years - lovely . So , if you’re the type of person who wants to get away from the large freezer lead menus that seem to be in most pubs these days this is the place you . So there you have have it . It was a great Peak District experience & leave room for the homemade desserts as well

Beautiful country pub with access for our stay over in our Motorhome.dogs allowed in pub and water supplied outside for them. Beautiful scenery and atmosphere, lovely friendly people and felt safe at night. Highly recommend for anyone doing night stops.

This traditional pub was a great find, we were staying in Matlock for the week and were blown away by the welcome we received there. We had Sunday lunch with extended family and even though we were a large group the service and standard of food was outstanding. I highly recommend The Sycamore Inn to anyone visiting Matlock and it is well worth a drive for the Sunday lunch if staying further afield. You will be assured of a very warm welcome. They have a very popular quiz night on Wednesdays with chips at half time. Lovely pub run by a lovely couple!!

Amazing experience. A big family group was meeting as a reunion after ten years. Rebecca and Andrew kindly reserved the entire back room and cooked us the most delicious roast dinners! We all pre-ordered the week before and the food that turned up was spot...

Visited for a few beers and a meal. The place is very welcoming with good beers (Bass and Timothy Taylor's) and we both had pies albeit different flavours. Both were wonderful and home made. Wish we lived closer!!

This is an excellent place, a 'real' pub with a homely feel and a great landlord. I'm only in the UK for a few months a year as I spend most of my time in New Orleans but I'll always visit here when I'm back. Top class!

The best Sunday Roast for a long time!! Meat was cooked to perfection, lovely veg & generous portions.All of the staff were friendly & accomodating. They understood that someone in our party had allergies & did everything to ensure we all had a good meal. Highly recommended

Had a really delicious home cooked meal with friends here whilst in Matlock for the weekend. Very welcoming and attentive owners and staff, couldn't do enough for us, and made us feel right at home. We all had excellent meals, in very generous portions and at a reasonable cost. A great selection of beers to go with the food as well. I'd highly recommend you drop by.

We went to the Sycamore as a party of 9 (5 kids and 4 adults), as you can imagine it was pretty chaotic, but the staff at The Sycamore could not have been more helpful and accommodating. I had the famous pie (Beef and Stilton), it was fantastic and the gravy was very special. Great food, fantastic service, reasonably priced - what more could you ask for?!
