Going on from the wonderful reviews of this place, me and my partner was disappointed when we visited yesterday. Once parked up, we went to get tickets for the tour. You can only go in with a tour guide. The tour guide was very knowledgeable but wouldn't stop talking and it was very aimed "like a children's entertainer" vibe, thoughout the tour, there's a good path throughout the cavern, no hard hats needed apparently as its a natural cavern, even though there's a lot of stalactites hanging from the top of the cavern. The tour was 40 mins or so, but without the tour guide it would only take you 15/20 mins to walk one end to the other, it was very short and what seemed a dead end when the tour ended. This is great for small young families, but when you are experienced and enjoy caves etc and discovering for yourself / love adventure this isn't the place. There was no freedom or roaming and looking as everything was shown by the tour guide by a torch, and a very stop start tour. The cafe was poor, and small. The cafe/gift shop building needs updating not only in the cafe but gift shop and muesum (display cases) needs an update and a needed a bigger building when you are queuing up waiting for your talkative tour guide. It's very over priced too. Very disappointed.

A fantastic day out. With the walks around the woods and only a short distance to get to Solomons temple too with great picnic spots we could enjoy waiting for our entrance time. Whem it was our time the staff at Poole's Cavern directed us clearly to where to go and we got to enjoy the visitor center whole waiting for our guide. The tour was incredible. The staff were approachable and knowledgeable. They made the tour interesting for our children as well as all the adults that had come along too. Still packed with facts but delivered in a way our 7 and 10yr old had a great time learning too. The cafe staff were brilliant too. Prompt and efficient and we had lovely coffee and hot chocolate after our tour.

I visited the place on a Sunday as part of the National Lottery period, so I paid half the price for entry and got a lovely little book. We arrived just in time for our prebooked timeslot. The parking is £2 for 4 hours and the ticket machine has contactless payment option (thank god). The tour was really nice and relaxing. I loved the details that the tour guide explained. We also loved hearing about her experience as a guide and some horror stories they had about the place. The cavern is easily accessible and would definitely recommend! You can also go to the Solomon Steps, but we were too knackered for it.

It is well remembered that Albert Einstein worked in a patent office whilst honing his mind and craft. Today I believe we were lucky enough to glimpse at a similarly brilliant mind honing a craft of his own. Blending geological factoids with pop culture quips, political satire with soil science, a man born for the comedy circuits of Stockport or Macclesfield, set to the stunning backdrop of an ancient cave - what's not to love? 5 stars *****

Stunning cavern set in the wonderful Peak District. Really great priced and with good paved flooring its an easy choice for those with restricted mobility though do keep in mind so.e areas have low headroom and there are some steps and slopes inside the cavern. Due to the nature of the attraction the floors will be wet. It is wheelchair accessible but only 20%. This is reflected by the free entrance fee. Carers also go free with suitable ID. A must visit. Wonderful, friendly, knowledgeable tour guides AND you can also take your well behaved doggy along too. (They have a wall of four legged visitors pics in the cafe)

Great mini day out with kids. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and engaging. We didn't do much research before going, but I have to say it was definitely better than expected. Using different light techniques was a wow factor for all. Afterwards we had a meal in a cafe inside. Good choice of options, very clean and cosy after being a bit chilly inside the caves. It was one of the best gluten-free breakfast feasts we had, thank you! Overall highly recommended. We didn't realise Go Ape is right next to it, so I am pretty certain we will be back soon.

The limestone formations are wonderful. The overall experience of the cavern was okay as compared to the high cost of the entry ticket. The tour guide told us details about each spot at a very fast speed, which made it difficult to catch up. These details can also be written on boards making it easy for visitors to read. The walk itself is hardly 10 mins. It is the time taken to explain the history at each spot, which makes it 45 mins. Hence again, the ticket cost is too high as compared to the experience you get inside the cave.

A decent option to visit if in the area but wouldn't drive too far out of my way to see it. Typical limestone formations although some interesting and unique features. Guide was very knowledgeable, almost too knowledgeable as the tour stretched an hour over a short distance. Dress for cold and wet weather, and prepare for somewhat uneven floor. We bought tickets on the door for the next tour, although they tried to convince us none were available until we showed them we could buy them online.

Visiting Poole's Cavern in Buxton was a fantastic experience! The cavern itself is stunning, with impressive formations and knowledgeable guides. I visited Pooles Cavern a few weeks ago whilst camping nearby. It is a nice place and a really cool history. It is slightly out of the way and I think only one bus services the area nearby. We booked tickets in advance. I am not sure if you can get tickets on the day. Although you possibly could with a space available. The tour is suitable for all ages. I wouldn't say it is wheelchair accessible though as their are stairs throughout the Cave system. You vet guided along the Cave by a tour guide, giving you various information on the history and use of the Cave over the years and some geological information too. The tour is about 1 hour long. It is well lit, very safe, and not at all claustrophobic. I recommend it if you are into history and geology.

I have been to many caves but they are not as well lit and easy to walk through like this one, the temperature drops as you go into it so make sure to wear something warm. Nice little café at the visitor centre so you can get hot food and drink before or after the tour, lots of parking and a good little walk up the trail they have which is worth it if you have the time. It's an impressive cavern - apparently. But you can't get to the best bits in a wheelchair. Other family members showed us pics & told us about the tour - 2 of us only did the first 100m. We're not scared of a couple of steps but after a gently sloping damp paved pathway the route goes up a lot of stairs. Not complaining, but just to say castles in England & Wales usually let wheelchair user & carer go in free cos you can't get to battlements, etc. But you can usually see most of a castle from ground level, not so this cavern. Small visitor centre geared to 5-10 mins waiting time ahead of your tour time. Friendly & efficient cafe with indoor & outdoor seating, dog welcome, nice cakes. Woodland walk defo not doable in wheelchair btw.
