A great village pub, lovely people and the food was amazing.
We were staying at the local campsite and this place was just a small but lovely walk away. Well worth a visit or two if you’re in the area.

Update... after several months of eating at from this establishment, I have been bombarded with texts about deals, updates etc. I have replied to opt out, I have blocked, added to spam list etc.. but still they create new accounts to spam me with. Please learn how to manage your customers data correctly I will be informing the relevant GDPR authority to complain of this harrassment. Below is my review for the take away.
Tasty food. Great deals for using their website. Slight issues with delivery of an out of date bottle of pepsi max but they resolved that in less than 5 minutes after a short call.
headed downstairs to this bar after our meal at flour & grape, also so others who were waiting for their table grabbing a drink during the wait. on the small side but most people don’t stay for too long. the fruity spritz is lovely and would recommend. also the menu had some fun options and great for those who love gin as they have a lot to offer for gin options.
One of our favourite go to places in Wanstead. The food's always reliably good and the service is always friendly and efficient. we feel lucky to have such a great place on our doorstep!!
Essential to book! Absolutely superb meals. My wife had salmon, which was excellent and with perfectly cooked vegetables, as opposed to the underdone ones you normally get nowadays. I had the Moroccan Tagine, which was a fantastic hot and spicy dish of lamb with a very tasty sauce on a bed of rice. Far and away the best meal we had on our Swanage holiday.
Some reviews have commented on slow service. This is a small family run restaurant with food cooked to order. Don't expect any fast food! We found it very relaxing, with quiet and pleasant background music and plenty of people watching as we sat by the window.
A little treasure in the Ripple countryside. An C18 character pub with a large garden and parking. Always friendly and welcoming with wonderful hosts Brian and Roy and the loveliest staff. They have earned their pub award as an 'Asset to the Community'. We have been coming for some years with family and friends and we highly recommend their home cooked Sunday lunch or a tasty weekday treat. Recently we had an event at The Plough and we were so well taken care of, with a heartfelt warm welcome and a delicious buffet with a personal touch. Some of our family had a great overnight stay in the guest rooms too. Thank you Brian & Roy for everything you did for us. You made our day!
Had a veggie breakfast which looked, which was delicious and fresh . Eggs were amazing and cooked to perfection.
Partner had regular breakfast which looked good too.
The guy who served us was friendly .
The cafe was spotlessly clean.
Would definitely recommend and return
We called up to book about table a week before at 1pm for Lunch on a Saturday and were offered a table at 1:30pm which we were happy with.
When we arrived at 1:30pm we ordered and the place was busy which we appreciate that food may take longer that usual 45 mins later starters turned up. The food tasted good to be fair but arrived with no apologies for the delay.
After the starters it was another 1 hour 15 mins before the mains arrived to 2 hours after to arrived for lunch. Food was pretty good although some chips were undercooked. We also had pasta dishes arrived 20 mins before the rest so they had finished before everyone else. They also had the garlic bread after they finished the pasta so just ate dry garlic bread.
I would eat there again for the food but the service was a shame. We were a big table of 10 but had 2 children very hungry. For me it was the fact that there was no explanation or apology for the delay. We expected a longer wait but not 2 hours wait. If they just came and explained/apologies there would be no need for a bad review. A simple offer of a free drink would have been more than enough.
Last week we had our wedding reception at Confessions. We used the full day hire package which meant we had access to the venue from 10am. Confessions is an absolutely stunning and unique venue which ticks all the boxes, all of our guests including us loved it. Hannah and Lucie were amazing in the whole run up to the event, from the first time enquiring Hannah was so welcoming and nothing was too much to ask for! In the few weeks before Lucie would check in to make sure we were okay and needed anything else ready for the day! We can't thank them enough for ensuring our day ran smoothly even when we areived earlier than expected from our ceremony they were ready for us! We used their resident DJ recommended by Hannah and they were fantastic! The music choices they made from reading the room we fab and everyone had a wonderful time. Thank you so much to the Confessions team for making our day so amazing!🤍
