headed downstairs to this bar after our meal at flour & grape, also so others who were waiting for their table grabbing a drink during the wait. on the small side but most people don’t stay for too long. the fruity spritz is lovely and would recommend. also the menu had some fun options and great for those who love gin as they have a lot to offer for gin options.

Nice bar let down by an unfair booking policy. We booked 214 for New Years Eve - our plan was to go there after dinner at Flour & Grape (above the bar). Unfortunately Flour & Grape don't take bookings, so despite getting in the queue early it was a 3+ hour wait. This meant there was no way we would make our 10pm booking at 214, so we had to make alternative plans. We tried to call 214 to explain the situation and see if they would push our booking back, but they make it impossible to find a contact number. We were charged £50 for not making our booking even after writing an email to explain what had happened. Poor and short sighted customer service.

Really good selection of cocktails, including lots of originals. A cosy, cool atmosphere. Friendly staff. Doesn’t take bookings (or at least not for three people on a Friday) which could be a downside, but we managed to get a table after only a few minutes of standing and got served very quickly. Would recommend for gin lovers!

Fui com minha esposa à noite, cheguei cedo mas já estava cheio. É um pub, não restaurante. Como não tinha mesas disponíveis, sentamos no balcão. Cada um pediu um prato de massa. Estava divino, apesar de pequeno. O preço era proporcional ao tamanho do prato: era até barato. De sobremesa pedimos sorvete de tiramisu... fora de série. Apesar de pequeno, excelente. Recomendação: chegue cedo, enche logo.

Had a few cocktails here one afternoon. The cocktails were excellent and as it was a Sunday they weren't ridiculously expensive. One of the bar staff seemed a bit standoffish but the other was friendly.

The most important thing is the Staff is really friendly and Good doing the job Very nice Gin selection up of 100 different types of Gin Food is really nice just small plates for shearing

214 is a very relaxed and charming underground bar with wood furniture, offering dozens of delicious gins for every taste.

One of the best espresso martinis in london. A fabulous little spot that is never too crowded. It opens till late on a friday and is definitely worth a visit.

Had a great time sampling the gin flights. I tried the London And Great Britain flights. Also have an Asian one and an upcoming USA. Superb tonic as well - made locally with real quinine.

I came at happy hour when the g & t's are doubles. They also did a mean vesper. Throughout the visit I noticed that the music they were playing was awesome. Come here for a drink.

We met friends for a quick drink in here and it was great could have stayed longer! It is a little confusing to find as 214 is actually a pasta restaurant it is next door in a bigger restaurant but down stairs! But great drinks and a good selection and they have happy hour on certain ones! The staff were friendly and made some recommendations, will certainly be returning for longer this time!

We went here a few years ago and it was great. We then visited it last week and it was pretty average. Pretty nice gin and tonics, as you’d hope/expect. Cocktails were not very nice. And beware of the ‘Happy Hour’...despite being told that cocktails were £6.50 and g&ts; £5, when we’re ordered and went to pay we we’re advised that it was only certain cocktails, obviously not the ones we’d ordered, which was a bit dodgey, as there was no notation on which were included. Won’t be coming back here for a third time, sadly.

Sometimes my boyfriend and I pop in here during their generous happy hour for a cocktail. I've tried a few and they are absolutely delicious, professionally made and the service is quick and attentive. Would recommend the 'jungle bird'

We stumbled across this lovely bar on a recent visit to London on our way to dinner. It was extremely busy but the staff found us a spot at the bar. They were extremely knowledgeable and advised us on drinks and cocktails, shame we could only stay for a few drinks! Will definitely visit again and sample more of their excellent hospitality.

Nos detuvimos en un sábado por la noche para tomar un cóctel y no me decepcionó. El barman era genial, incluso nos ayudó a reducir nuestras opciones de cócteles y recoger que disfrutar. Nivel de ruido era bastante alta, pero todo el mundo era muy amable y las bebidas deliciosas.

This gin bar with small plates is a great space. It's quiet enough that you can chat with the (very knowledgeable) barmen about gin and have them recommend cocktails that might suit your gin-tasting palate, and because it's tucked away (the entrance isn't exactly easy to spot), it feels private and cozy. The small plates are tasty, the gin flights are a great way to compare different flavors, and their in house tonic water (which you can buy as a tonic syrup) is an alternative to other tonics that I really liked. It's not nearly as sweet as some, and has a sort of earthy flavor that goes well with some of the more complex gins.

We went on a Sunday - when they have 'social sunday' which is a sort of happy hour for the day. The bar tender was very knowledgeable about every single gin. The flight of gin - for tasting then tonic was excellent.

Second time to 214 Bermondsey and we like the place. Got there just after 5pm and got a table. By 6pm the place was full. Great cocktails. We had the Summer spritz and the SE1 sour - both were really good. Staff are really friendly.

Recently visited this place and it wasn't what I expected. It's a nice little setup but it's very noisy when it's busy! It's quite small which is good but once it's full you can hardly hear your own conversation. The staff were excellent, they seem to be very knowledgeable and there is a great selection of drinks but for the prices I would've thought there would be table service. Approaching the bar and leaning over other people sitting there to order your drink is not pleasant, felt like being at a busy pub! The drinks were great though but it's not a place I'll be frequenting as there are many other places that offer the same type of drink list with table service and without the noise.

We arrived just in time for happy hour. The barman was very knowledgable and having just been to Belfast we swapped our opinions on Belfast Gin. Gets busy very quickly and you can only book a table if theres 5+ of you. We as a two got the last table.

Great Gin bar underneath Antico restaurant. The drinks menu is short on choice but high on creativity. The bartenders are madly skilled and fun to watch. Very nice guys who keep very busy making great drinks for thirsty folk!

my selections wont failed anytime. was my planned to visit with my friends. one of the good place to spend time. i like cocktails with lemon. music, screens are good entertainers. staff service good, parking available nearby only.

We visited for a friend's birthday. We each had the gin flight. It was great- really good gin, great fun and very educational. For the amount of alcohol it was also great value. I also tried a couple of other cocktails off the menu which I was very impressed by- in particular the espresso martini made with gin!

Unlike so many 'cocktail bars' in London the staff actually know how to make great cocktails. A nice menu, which focuses on Gin. Staff are equally happy to make something off the menu, and to a great standard. Nice atmosphere that gets very very busy Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings. Service is always very prompt.

Spent a wonderful 2 hours here last night before dinner at Antico upstairs. Absolutely buzzing. Busy busy but enough turnover with people heading to eat that space to sit soon becomes available. Try the gin tasting flights, great idea. Wonderful place to people watch. Will be back...

Visited after reading the reviews and 100% worth a visit. Lovely atmosphere, great crowd, and knowledgeable, friendly, engaging staff. Drinks are quality and good value for money. You must try the Gin & Tonic Flight Tasters, really great drinks and great fun. If you like a drink with a kick, have the Rye Kwon Do. And spend an extra £20 to bring back a bottle of Tonic Syrup which is delicious. We are glad we travelled from North London, and we will revisit.

Turns out I've been drinking gin wrong my whole life. Also, I've been mixing my gin with the wrong tonic. That being said, I don't remember much of the night, ok it was early evening, maybe even late afternoon, where we met for their happy hour, and the very friendly Scottish waiter gave us a tasting and teaching session. Turns out my favourite new gin is portobello. I also got a death stare for saying my favourite gin cocktails are the fruity sugary ones. Only downside of this place is you'll never look at your Tanqueray the same way again. Nice for dates, quiet convos with friends and excellent gin coktails.

Went in for Happy Hour and did not want to leave! Bar staff were just tops and so knowledgeable. This place is a gem and we look forward to our return visit.

You could almost miss this, hidden underneath an Italian restaurant upstairs. Cosy little bar with great decor and knowledgeable bar staff. I'd recommend ordering one of the gin flights - great fun with friends as you guess the gin and then undo the sealed envelope at the end. Food is also excellent - monkfish risotto particularly stands out.

I have not experienced many different types of gin before and never really viewed it as much more than that one taste, one "gin and tonic" you can do with this.But the bartenders here are true artistes! Was here with a friend and can't wait to bring more with me back to London to show them what true gin is capable of in the hands of masters.Absolutely the best gin drinks of any kind I've ever had.

We started our night at this cellar bar with a Wonderful Negroni and it set the bar for the rest of the evening. Good atmosphere and great bar tenders. It's a short stumble back to The Bermondsey Square Hotel if you are visiting overnight.

214 is totally trendy and hipster, but that doesn't mean the cocktails aren't delicious. We were there earlier in the evening on a Saturday, but it was already pretty crowded, so we ended up sitting at the bar. They do gin flights, and while we didn't partake, you choose three gins, and then they give you a blind taste test, in which you try to pair the right gin with the right description. They give you the answers in an envelope. It looked fun, but my husband isn't much of a fan of straight booze, so... We each knocked back a couple of Hendrix Fixs, though, and they were delicious! The atmosphere was fun, and the staff was perfectly, if not overly, friendly.

The Gin selection is impressive and the staff is really passionated about their spirits. They also have their own tonic water to pair with this fabulous Gin. Ask for any recommendation to your taste.

Our visit was a belated birthday treat and I was not disappointed! The atmosphere was fun, lively and unpretentious, and the selection of gin and gin-based cocktails was amazing. We tried the gin tasting flights were you blind taste a selection of gins and attempt to match them to their descriptions; I was sadly hopeless but had great fun failing to identify any of our 6 gins. I would suggest that being provided with little jars of the main botanicals would help, or maybe make it too easy.... Great fun and highly recommended for any gin-lover.

We visited on Saturday 9th of April and had a fantastic time.The staff were amazing - professional, impeccable and friendly service throughout the whole evening. I would especially like to thank the Brazilian guy (I wish I'd asked his name) who was particularly attentive and lovely. The drinks were excellent, the special recipe tonic is the nicest I have tried (by a long way) and the range is fantastic.Recommend isn't a strong enough word - I will definitely plan a trip to Bermondsey in the future just so I can visit again.

Visited 214 on Friday evening for 'Gin o' Clock' (5-6pm)...and then found it very difficult to leave! Started with a classic G&T (I went for the Jensen's) served with the house Bermondsey Tonic Water, followed by cocktails (excellent selection), a gin flight (great fun guessing and I loved the 'reveal' from the sealed envelope - especially since we got it right!) and more cocktails. We were also able to order some bread and oil and a cheese platter to help soak up the gin. Loved this bar - the staff, the atmosphere, the gin and the cocktails were all brilliant. A return visit for the 'Sunday Social' is next on my list!

The cocktails are great, perfect for the gin lovers. Friendly staff and lovely atmosphere. I would definitely recommend their Red Snapper if you're a fan of Bloody Mary's.

A great late night cocktail bar below Antico restaurant. Service is very welcoming and friendly. Prices for cocktails very reasonable - go for the Bramble, the best cocktail EVER!

A bit away from town, however very well worth it , the menu is exhaustive , I had calves liver,,,,,,,the best !!!,all served wirh extra special service, we were a bit late for our booking, the team welcomed us and had no issues serving us our food without rush, even we were the last ones out.

The staff were fantastic and really helpful offering drink suggestions-top marks to Dave!Would definitely come back to this bar and also to try the food upstairs. Went on a Sunday afternoon with some friends for a few drinks. Drinks were very nice, professionally made by experienced staff. Customer service here was above what you would expect in London as there were only two bartenders working, yet they took orders, remembered our table numbers and brought drinks out to the table. Excellent effort, affordable drinks cool bar and will return.

We tried two gin tasting combos, three different gins to discover each. Nice experience, although not cheap. The cocktails, although again not cheap are masterfully prepared and of excellent quality. I can definately recommend the Zombie, if you are in for a bitter-ish, strong cocktail that is not sweet. The bartenders know their drinks and how to prepare them. This bar is in the cellar of restaurant Antico. Tip: combine bar and restaurant in one visit, you will not regret it

This was the first bar we came to having discovered the hotel we were staying in was dry. What a find. Absolutely loved it. Went in expecting a wine bar but this was so much better. But then I do rather like my gin. Fantastic choice of gins and knowledgeable staff. An intimate yet fun setting. On reflection very glad hotel was dry as although wont be returning there will definitely be coming back here.

Came here to celebrate my birthday. We reserved a table in the basement bar and took advantage of the weekday happy hour from 5pm. The only problem was there was just too much gin to chose from! Had a lovely meal here with three friends this Wednesday evening..we walked in and was told a half hour wait for a table (even on a Wednesday!)..we went downstairs to the bar and waited no longer than 15 minutes for our table..well worth it, food was amazing !! We came to try some gin and left knowing a whole lot about just gin. The bartender Alex really made a great job tailing us into the gin world. We were interested about gin from the beginning, hence we went here, but we got so much good info and tried a lot of gin from the bartenders recommendations. They mix the tonic in house and it was great (can be bought as syrup at the bar). We had the chance to inhale and taste a lot before ordering to be able to choose the right gin.The basement premises and all of the bar staff helped for a cozy friendly feeling about the place. Will go there again and recommend it to all my friends interested in gin.

This small basement bar is cosy with low lighting levels making it a good place to meet for a pre-dinner drink. It's not cheap but prices are typical for London around £8-£9 per drink.

So we'd been doing the Bermondsey Beer Mile (more on that later) and decided that the girls would appreciate the opportunity to partake in a drink that wasn't a craft beer, so we wound up here - a very nice Gin Bar, just round the corner from the main high street in Bermondsey.Now, I'm not a gin fan, so this place was kinda wasted on me. That being said, it had a nice ambience, decent music, and the bartenders were that good balance of being nice & chatty without going too far down the "hyper smiley American customer service" route we seem to be going these days.The gin list is monumental, and the rest of or little group got very excited at virtually everything they saw. Being a non-gin drinker, I cheekily asked if I could get something else made up that wasn't on the list, which happily they were able to do. So I sat down with my Old Fashioned (one of the best I've ever tasted) and the rest with the variety of random gins and accompaniments. Verdict all round was the drinks were brilliant, and well priced to boot. Highly recommended!

I love this place! The fact that it's hidden below a restaurant on Bermondsey St., but has an amazing gin selection and incredible staff makes it a winner! Plus the ambiance is so relaxed. The last time I was there with an out of town friend, we spent our entire evening at the bar with the fantastic and knowledgeable bartenders. They helped us select new gins based on our personal tastes and even let us try and smell different ones. We had such an amazing time and discovered some new favourites. I highly recommend this bar.

Visted this place twice now on Sundays, The atmosphere of this place is chilled and bartenders do know their Gins. This place has converted me to Gin as never knew there were so many. Favourite drink here is the Red Snapper along with the vast selection of Gins. Just wish this place was closer to home, but is worth a trip to London even for just visiting this place.

Planned to grab a cocktail (or two) here before migrating to the restaurant upstairs - Antico's. Fantastic experience. Great cocktails mixed and served up by knowledgeable and engaging staff. Enjoyed it so much we adjourned there again after dinner - and carried on the motion. OK it's not cheap - but you can't take it with you!

We were here for my husband's birthday, and had a great time. We were able to reserve an area for the 10 of us, and really enjoyed ourselves. We did the 'normal' gin tasting and sloe gin tasting - where you guess between three options, which was great fun. The gin cocktails were also excellent. Only downside was it was all downstairs, and we happened to be there on a beautiful day. Other than that, a real treat, and I would return.

Inattentive staff and poor service. Odd since it was almost empty when we arrived. Gin concept is fine and they seem to at least be competant at that.

Most noteworthy is the HUGE selection of gins with good tasting notes for many of them.In particular they do 'tasting flights' of three gins with tasting notes and a sealed envelope saying which is which. They have four of these flights: makes for a fun evening! Some nice bar snack food (charcuterie, etc) to accompany too. Nice carefully made cocktails and friendly staff too.

If you want an exceptional G&T come here. Don't be put off by the funny colour, that's their own brand of tonic water.
