Machine in Southwark

Sold me an old anti puncture tire for new, have it less than a year and it’s 10 times more worn than my 4year old other tire. Also too expensive for the service they provide and always leave the handles incredibly greasy.

I came here with a flat tyre, on the way to work and in a stress. They were super helpful and turned it round in no time! Great service, reasonable and good advice.

Nice shop with great staff, however, i did buy a Ridgeback bike from them which has had nothing but problems from the start. The gears are sketchy, constantly gets self inflicted punctures due to the bad wheels and generally is out of action more than it is in action. And i only do short trips of about 1 mile on it once a week. Not their fault reaĺly, perhaps more the brand, but for £500 quid i would have expected more than 1 years usage. Obviously not happy with it, but i use my wifes bike now with no issues. Maybe dont sell or condone that product as it clouds your reputation.

Really wanted to like Machine, but can't bring myself to return. I took my bike in for a full service and rebuild, they let me know I could pick it up 40 minutes before their close time leaving me barely enough time to come pick it up. When I arrived, I immediately had to point out that the grip shifter on my bike was mounted upside down, with the window showing the gear facing the ground. Then upon leaving, I made it all of one block before I noticed the gears weren't indexed properly, and when shifting into 5th gear on the hub, the pedals would just spin without engaging. Took it back, had it resolved. Eventually I noticed that the way the brake hoses and shifting cables were arranged wasn't as it had been, and the cables were sticking out and pushing each other around when steering. Resolved to just take the brakes and shifters off of the handlebars and rearrange them myself using an old photo for reference rather than go back. On top of this, on the sign outside they advertise that a rebuild includes a frame wipedown, not a full clean but the bike was never that dirty anyway since its just a commuter. This was also not the case and the bike was dirtier than when I dropped it off, with smears of grease on the head tube. With these basic things not taken care of, I worry about the quality of the more important work, and whether the service I paid for was actually even carried out or not. I really wanted to like Machine, as they appeared to be one of few nicer bike shops around my area, but honestly I'll just go to NipNip in Tower Bridge or learn to do these things myself before I go back to them.

Sorry to say but my experience so far hasn't been great. Left my bike to fix the brakes (disc) and charged £80, first time I went to pick up the bike (after a day late) the brakes were not working at all, the gentleman replaced the pads, but the issue turns out was with the fluid, as such I left my bike there again, and two days later picked it up, same story, not braking at all. Another day, and finally there was much better stopping power, not a wheel lock as it should, but better, at least I could stop. but this went downhill within a month , making noises and lost the stopping power again. I went to another shop which got it sorted within the hour for not even a third of the price. Makes me wonder why they don't test the things they do (not on the stand, a bike with weight has different stopping power compared with unloaded). They for nice items and selection of bikes but I don't trust the engineering side. If you don't know, they may try to take advantage of it. Not happy with the service. Meh

I had taken my bike for service before and was very happy. Today I needed two bolts to fit my frame lock to the bike frame and Russell helpful as always gave me just the ones I needed. Thanks!

Always take my bikes to machine Bermondsey russel is brilliant bike technician always helpful and never feel like I have been ripped off has I have done with other bike repair shops with there ridiculous prices and bad work would definitely recommend machine bike shop

Absolute 5***** and more than fair. I asked for the top service on my bike. Upon my return Russell said that it only needed a standard service. Great service from him and on my bike. A1 all round. Highly recommended.

Russell went above and beyond replacing my gear cables so I could still do RideLondon, working after the shop closed. He could have refused but he worked doggedly and diligently, and was charming in the process. I dedicate my RideLondon to him (which went as smoothly as my ultra smooth gear changes!).

Within about 30secs they were able to tell what the issue was with my gears, and gave some great advice about cables/tips to fix myself which i did in about 5 minutes! So much experience and beats watching hours of youtube videos, thank you!

The staff are so great service and resonable price as well. Bikes repairing is outstanding services. i definitely recommand you to go there, you won't regreat, you will enjoy every dishes.

Had a puncture fixed (tyre replaced) and they were friendly and quick and no problems since, also went in to get a new light for which I was missing a part and they had the spare part so gave me free of charge!! Recommend!!

Trued my wheel perfectly, and perfectly re-tuned the brake and attached my kryptonite wheelnutz correctly (unlike some other shops in the past). Noticed my brake didn't operate smoothly after truing (as it had been installed by me without grease by me and used in the rain) and replaced it for free. Definitely will be relying on this shop in the future!

I have always pasted this shop as I live in the area and really needed my pedals changed on my bike. So I thought lets try this place, they had changed what I need very quickly (good price) and did something else on my bike for free. Real friendly staff

Siguiendo mi experiencia en Manze, justo al final de la carretera, necesitaba un café y algo para quitarle el sabor (lo siento, pero es cierto), por lo que, después de haber recorrido un largo camino por la carretera, di la vuelta y regresé a Machine. Es una tienda de bicicletas, es una tienda de reparación de bicicletas, y es una cafetería. ¿Que es no gustar? Qué total opuesto al almuerzo y servicio que acababa de soportar. El chico detrás del mostrador era acogedor, amable y encantador. El café era realmente excelente y el pastel de plátano fresco, húmedo y sabroso. Me encanta la decoración y el ambiente en Machine. Nunca deja de animarte. Es una idea estupenda y funciona estupendamente bien.

Visite esta cafetería casi todos los días para tomar un capuchino y un cruasán de almendras. Yo diría que son la mejor cafetería de la zona. La dama que sirve siempre es muy amable. ¡También reparan bicicletas! ?

Pasado este lugar me ciclo en mi camino al trabajo cada día y finalmente decidimos parar allí para ver lo que era. Pedí un café con leche grande. Y puedo confirmar que efectivamente hacen un fantástico café. Era más como una pantalla grande y blanco, que para mí era perfecto. Es un lugar cálido y acogedor, con algunos muebles e. g. peculiar Taburetes de bar con asientos para Blazing Brooks. Sin duda valen la pena visitar.

Visité Machine varios días seguidos en un viaje a Londres y ahora que he avanzado no sé exactamente qué haré para tomar un buen café por la mañana. !

OK, this place serves coffee and repairs bicycles. It has great coffee and a nice selection of sandwiches and other small food items. Friendly service completes for a pleasant place.

Nice relaxing little bike café. Recommend. Pretty and informal. Nice little bike bits. Quiet but busy. Great for solo travellers too. Sometimes the staff chat to you which is nice and not always about the cakes.

I was quoted £35 by another place to fix the slipping gears on my Brompton, would have had to make an appointment for next week and leave my bike there all day. I walked into Machine, it was fixed within 2 minutes and they wouldn't take any money for doing it. I've also had coffee there several times - it's a really nice atmosphere, interesting cycling-related items for sale, good coffee. I can't recommend this place highly enough.

I had this afternoon a chai latte and a piece of cake whilst discussing about a potential purchase of a bicycle. They have very cute tables and high chairs made up of bicycle wheels and seats! Chai was good and so was the cake.

Great place, popped in on the way to work for an espresso and an almond croissant. Perfect way to recoup energy for the office, or the ride. Cool decor (brooks saddled stools) and chilled music. Recommended.

Love it! My bike gets superb service, and I get tasty coffee plus nice chat with amazing owners and staff. Love it!

This place is the cutest and most hard core cycling cafe and shop... all the decor, tables, chairs and stools are upcycled with bicycle parts. the coffee - lethal in that it tastes as it should but really strong! We loved it even though we walked out with heart palpitations!

I don't own the bike but some friends do and have always recommend Machine. I love to stop by for a refreshing drink (or coffee of course) and love the healthy snacks and organic touches inside. It feels fresh, beautiful and authentic! The staff is very reactive and super nice. Definitely recommend.

They have done a great job at Machine since converting the front half of the shop into a cafe. There are some great fun cycle-themed pieces of furniture and art, lots of space to sit, well made coffee (Monmouth blend if you like that) and a selection of sweet and savoury bites. A group of about eight of us spent a few hours in there one Sunday morning, perfectly lovely!
