Nice Irish themed pub, good atmosphere even on a Monday, decent selection of beers, friendly service. There was a nice selection of Thai food at reasonable prices. Look forward to returning sometime soon

A lively Irish Pub with excellent Thai food. Went on a Friday night and was quite busy as expected. There was an entertaining live two piece band. Noisy... as it should be.

Great Irish pub, with great Thai food and a spectacular staff providing outstanding service. We went in for dinner but were about to leave after a well-poured pint of Guinness due to a lack of available tables and people seeming to be comfortably settling in. The barman whipped together an extra table for us, and we enjoyed a great Thai meal. I got the spicy special which was a ground chicken stir fry. It has a bit of spice, but was not overpowering. We shared the duck spring rolls, which was a solid starter. My wife had a medium spiced curry she enjoyed. I understand perfectly why the place has been packed two weeknights running, and I plan to be back for another pint or two tomorrow.

Went to see a band on Friday 25th but the musicians were unable to perform due to problems with the sound system / setting up. Up their with O’Neils bars in terms of ‘Irishness.’ Quiet a noisy pub so not a relaxing atmosphere for a chat. Just shy of £7 for a Guinness.

Good pub for those who like Thai food. Nice atmosphere and good beers.

Lovely Irish pub that serves delicious authentic Thai food. Having traveled around Thailand I can say that the food at Mc & Sons was bang on. Service was excellent! The Guinness was one of the best I have had in London. Guinness and Thai food ? What more could you want on a cold Sunday.

Fantastic Irish pub with fabulous, authentic Thai food. Great, fun atmosphere and traditional Irish music too, that everyone can sing along to (and does). Wide selection of beers, ales, IPAs and stouts. Fab place!

Nice pub, done up well, good Guinness, decent service, food is quite tasty. Not taking cash is a put off for me, and it's far from the cheapest pub about (soho prices), but nice spot for a drink all the same if you're in the area and safe bet for a quick bit of food if you like Thai

A real hidden gem. A local love! Come here for the best Guinness and cheap hearty Thai food for lunch, a mix I've learnt to love. The pub is amazingly eclectic and it's always busy. Would always recommend!

Large selection of standard beers and a few crafts in a nice Irish themed pub. We went mid week so no live music. Menu is Thai. Done well, I had the signature dish of crispy noodle curry. Was delicious. Staff were helpful and chatty. All in all, a great little bar to go to. I imagine it can rock on a weekend but it was pleasantly full on a Wednesday night - we were the last to leave and to the staffs credit they weren't in anyway fussing us to get out.

Great Thai food. Table service. Well served Guinness. Great weathered wood boarded atmosphere. Just annoying they add discretionary service charge to your bill. Down with this sort of thing!

Awful atmosphere, so fake. Staff snotty. Cant find one good thing to say about this place. Went in as a family about 3pm, not busy but the staff didnt seem to want kids there, kids sat down, no running about, watched ipad. Staff staring at us, made to feel uncomfortable so we left after a drink. Way better pubs nearby, seems they only want the office lot in mac and sons. Shame as it was way better with the previous owner Andrew.

Overall so so. I ordered the Khao Soi Curry Noodles, sesame prawn toast and a half pint guinness. The curry noodles were quite a disappointment tbh - it wasn’t particularly flavoursome and tasted just like normal curry powder mixed with coconut milk. Some of my noodles had also clumped together like a big ball of starch and made the meal less appetising. However the prawn toast was great — really crispy and tasty. The vibes / atmosphere were also okay and they have live Irish music on Saturday nights. Would recommend as a pub but not for the thai food.

Basically a nice place. Service was good. Staff friendly.

No real ales offered except for Guinness. Barmaid was a very miserable and unwelcoming. Didn't bother staying for food or another drink after being served by her. However the pub was lovely and so authentic it's a shame about the welcome.

Good night out ,food was good .but could do with some more curry sauce quiet expensive for chips and sauce £7.

Absolutely amazing Irish pub! Loved the live music, atmosphere and decor. Very authentic and people were having the best time. Made me happy just to sit there and look around. I heard food was amazing also.

The formula is not crazy. It is considered delicious for Thai food in the West.

They had Smithwicks red, I love that drink. It's hard to find. Great spot too. Will get on the train and come back again.

Very nice pub I went in into the pub. Just wanted a really nice cold drink. Not really alcohol and I found there they sell zero alcohol beer on tap which was fantastic there were two choices as well

Lovely Irish run pub...even sell tayto crisp...loved the smoking area at back of pub outside as there are heaters outside and a telly screen perfect for football even the service by this Lovely Irish girl who was quick to serve and kept checking all was OK...so yeah loved this pub on union street defo cosy.

Based purely on the quality of the cuisine, I am giving Mc & Sons 5 stars. Genuinely hot, fresh, delicious Thai food. I haven't eaten better in London in the 18 years I have worked and lived in the city.

Great spot for after work drinks and tasty Thai dinner. Very authentic, cooked fresh and great value! Lots of the customers are regulars who come back for great food.

MC & Sons has been an absolute surprise and delight. It's an old Irish pub with a very relaxed atmosphere and does truly deliver on the family pub feeling. What really surprised me though, was the quality of the food. I've been to Thailand and the food here tasted so authentic. Something I was absolutely not expecting from a pub. They were clearly generous with the Thai basil and spice, and knew how to balance the flavours. I would absolutely reccomend this pub. Couldn't be happier with our choice for dinner tonight.

Found this on Tripadvisor as I was staying nearby. It’s a gem. Nice friendly staff, really attentive, good selection of beers and the best bit is the food. Really tasty. Good selection available and there wasn’t a rush to eat. I’ll definitely be back.

Thai food at the BEST Irish Bar South of the river(?!) the music in here was brilliant on a sunday afternoon- man with a violin and some classic songs. Deco is truly unique- come here for a knees up.

Friendly atmosphere and great staff, great beer and VERY delicious food. I would not have expected the Thai to be so amazing, but it blew my expectations out of the water. I liked the spiciness, and it was very good and made me sweat, but it could have been even hotter. Unless you are super sensitive to hot spicy food you can totally eat anything on the menu

Wow! Great find! We went for the Thai food close to our hotel and got to hear traditional Irish music. The place was very busy and everyone seemed to be enjoying the weekend and great weather.

Absolutely delicious and authentic food. The sweet corn fritters were a fantastic surprise. Loved the amount of lemon grass in them. The Chiang Mai chicken was delicious. The chicken was very moist. My main was the Khao Soi Curry Noodles. Loved it. Spicy but not too spicy. The crunchy noodles on top of the broth makes the whole difference. We will be back to try the rest of the menu.

We held our wedding reception here after being our favourite London pub. AJ and his team were amazing and so kind and supportive all the way. The venue is highly recommended for a wedding reception, event or just a great beer and delicious food. Thanks team.

Food was decent, Guinness excellent. Two small gripes, most food ran out and we were left with 'what they had', and I disagree with an automatic service charge where it's a buffet and you have to order at the bar. Service for what exactly?

The concept is so cool! You are in a traditional pub and are served authentic Thai food - loved it. We had Pad Thai and Drunken Noodles and both dishes were really good!

What luck that we stumbled upon this Irish bar. Rugby was on and the place was full. It was worth the wait! Warm, cozy, friendly, with the most amazing Thai Street food you can imagine. The next time we are in London, we would make a special trip there. The food was that good.

Ordered food for 6. After 10 mins, got told the food would take 20more mins, 40mins later had to ask when the food was coming and got told the chef went home. Beer was good but come-on telling customers food is never coming after waiting 12:30-2pm for it and not getting any alternative is just disrespectful.

Friday lunchtime, in as the doors opened, big bowl of Thai yumminess, a couple of Corona Ceros and a cheeky can or two of Guinness 0.0. Out before the office crowd piled in. Nice. Now go and work out a way of getting Guinness 0.0 on tap please.

Fantastic experience in a fully packed pub at rush hour, came for diner, the efficient staff just told us to grab a table. After 30mn enjoying our drink we eventually grabbed one, and the staff came right away to serveus. Good Pad Thai, good beer, good music, good "ambiance"....what else

Very popular and very busy. Seems to be a good place if you can stand the noise. You ate unable to talk you have to scream at each other. Other than that go!

Really accommodating, squeezed a big group of us in last minute. Food was good. Not as hot as previously. There was an error made but they corrected it quickly and without a fuss.

Gorgeous local pub - feels kinda like the peaky blinders saloon, especially with the cosy snug. Perfect for catching up with friends or a cosy date. The staff are also lovely and helpful whenever I go in - and go the extra mile. I did a treasure hunt for my sister’s birthday and the barman even helped surprise her with one of the clues. Shout out to the team who were working here January 6th!!

I love this pub. The walls are covered in pictures that I'm told are all relates to the family's history. A great selection of gin and craft beer is on offer. Go on a Saturday night for live Irish music, or go in the day to watch the sport. Best if all is some of the most traditional Thai cooking I've found in London. One of the best pubs in London

One of the best pubs in London. Always a great atmosphere, welcoming and local vibe. Very good service at all times. Thai food is a good deal at lunch times too.

I love certain things in a pub. A warm atmosphere, wood panelling and classic Guinness are three of these things. And this pub has them all. If you don't like this place, you don't like pubs.

Didn't eat here so I can't speak to the food. The pub seems old style, which is very cool. Lots of different seating, friendly staff and a nice selection of beer. I noticed a beer garden in the back too.

Decent Irish pub. Didn't eat so judging purely on service and atmosphere, most on the atmosphere, service was great.

Probably one of the most "UnIrish" bars I have ever been in and I,ve been in dozens all over the globe! No atmosphere is an understatement, also bleak and uncomfortable and bizarrely doesn't serve any food between 3 and 5 pm. Craft beer pub up the other side of Union St considerably better and friendlier.

One of the gems in London, for anyone looking for a great Irish pub. Guinness is very good and randomly enough, they serve fantastic Thai food. Highly recommend

Found this gem of a place, randomly. The whole team were lovely, friendly and welcoming. The place was spotlessly clean. Guinness was lovely. We had food during our visit. This was lovely. We visited on a Saturday and stayed for the live music. This was great. The place was hopping. Definitely coming back again.
