The best restaurants in England

We made a reservation for 8pm On arrival we told staff that we had booking didn't even acknowledge our booking, we were shown to small table for two by young female member of staff offered drink ; came promptly I went outside for few mins when a customer arrived looking for a table to be told restaurant was closed this was at 20.05 she told me how bizarre that it was closed we then checked website for closing times to discover that it was now closed strange that they would take our reservation for closing time. We ordered starters which were delicious but had just finished when waiter arrived with our main course we felt very rushed and could not enjoy our main course as there was only one other table in and they were finished their dinner . Lots of mistakes to be learned by this young team we have been in the restaurant business for a very long time and don't like to critise staff but this little gem of a restaurant could do a lot better we left not having a dessert or coffee as staff were already leaving . We spoke with young chap who was in charge tonight who was very apologetic but he has many a few learning curves to cross disappointing for us as we had looked forward to the luvly menu ( also server should have told us there was no fillet steak before we looked at menu) she waited until we had made our choices. Italian restaurants need front of house experienced staff 😒

Hidden gem of a restaurant. The set menus are fantastic value for fresh, tasty and great portions of food. We love coming as a family for our get together celebrations eating multiple bowls of prawn crackers!! However the real standout are the staff. Tonight they were busy , but this didn’t stop the friendly human service. Thank you team imperial!

Quite dissappinting that there are no gluten free options on the menu. I didn't expect gluten free pancakes as I know it may be hard to ensure no cross contamination but it would have been nice if they had some gluten free cakes instead. Their solution was that I could make my own meal off the menu using any ingredients which were gluten free or a salad. Which was pretty much a cooked breakfast with no bread or a salad which I didn't fancy in the morning!

Jimmy absolutely wonderful waiter and has a great sense of humour. Behind the bar staff member very nice and respecting. Chef cooked amazing food and will definitely go again. Was nearly empty when we arrived and then it filled up quickly and I can see why. New favorite place. Well looked after with being served.

ordered 2 burgers and chips burger came with barely any salads all stuffed and thrown into chips came very dry and dull could've been better and the staff looked like they had no life and no experience. very rude will never ever come here again to eat cuz they are gay

This is a lovely little café with very reasonably priced, generous portions, freshly cooked and (important for me) clearly labelled gluten free options and a kids menu with the simple options kids enjoy. All of us enjoyed our food and whilst the gluten free batter wasn't anything special, the fish was a generous portion and beautifully flavourful and well cooked so this was easily forgiven. The food isn't fancy but it's well done and tasty and doesn't cost a fortune, none if had any complaints. A great place to stop for lunch or brunch, I think the only thing that was a little tricky was fitting around the small tables but given its small size and popularity, you can see why the tables were small. We got there relatively early for our cooked lunch and were waiting about 20 minutes - reasonable as it's freshly cooked and I am gluten free - I think if it was really busy cooked food might take longer? Worth it though.

Delicious meal at the Honeypot Great choice for lunch. Very busy and popular but worth waiting for a table. Staff very friendly and helpful. My granddaughter is coeliac and was well catered for. Excellent service.

expensive place but you get what you pay for, the food was world class and the rooms were good. To get the best out of this hotel I think it may be advisable to go in a warm season where its location lends itself to sunny days and clear nights.I stopped here for 3 days on my way to somewhere else during one of the major storms so it marred the experience a bit as there was a power cut at the hotel for a for at least 8 hours, this however, wasn't the fault of the hotel, who tried to be as accommodating as they could. you should be aware that some of the rooms have baths that are in the actual room and not separated by dedicated bathroom, this may be ok for some but we booked a room with a separate shower.....which still had no doors, wasn't really our thing, just personal preference really. if you don't mind the above or the cost and you get the weather, this place would be superlative. the location deserves 10 stars.

We booked for our family of 11 for Xmas eve and had a wonderful time. The atmosphere was great, the service amazing and the food wonderful. It was our first time and we will definitely be back. Thank you!
