I've been coming here since the week it opened, not only do the staff go out of their way to make customers feel comfortable but they are wonderful with disabled people. My SEN daughter absolutely adores Jaz and Tapa. They also try their best to accommodate genuine allergies, it is one of the few places in town that my mum can eat without the risk of being hospitalised Keep up the great work, cannot wait for our next visit

Went for Sunday lunch .. outstanding from the moment we sat down to the moment we left. The staff are so friendly and helpful. Food was amazing. Also a birthday suprise at the end! My son wants to go everyday for the huge Yorkshire pudding!!!

RUDE RACIST STAFF went here today with my partner and 3 kids got asked if we were travellers and said we was barred if we was which we aren’t anyway then let us in to carry on having a rude attitude towards us made us feel uncomfortable so we decided to leave! Do not know how any one can run a business if they judge people by the colour of their skin and how they look! Lost out on 5 customers due to not having any hospitality skills 🙃

Absolutely stunning service food & atmosphere. This must be the best restaurant for miles that ticks every box. Great value. A busy Saturday evening but the staff so efficient it was as if only us there as we had drinks & food brought with no delays. The chefs are just amazing. The staff so friendly and great sense of humour as another review mentioned. We took family that were visiting from Scotland and they were equally impressed. A massive thanks to all at the Grille for making it a special occasion by going the extra with the surprise birthday 🎂 cake/candle popping brought to our table that Absolutely made our night seeing my sister in law's reaction 😊

CHRISTMAS DAY LUNCH. We weren't sure what to expect as we'd not been here before. There were 11 of us booked for Christmas Day Lunch. As soon as we walked in we were warmly greeted and immediately seated at our table and offered drinks. No messing about and the whole restaurant looked beautiful. The staff worked their socks off, were attentive, efficient and very funny. We were made to feel very welcome. As for the food of which there was plenty ..... Top marks to the chefs. It was delicious. Everything that everybody ordered was served beautifully presented, perfectly cooked and really hot. All 11 of us were served all together. The whole atmosphere was superb, we never felt rushed and at no time did any of the staff appear not to want to be working on Christmas Day !! Thank you for all your hard work and for making our Christmas Day Lunch special.

Had an absolutely fantastic Tenderloin with some ribs The only thing that was a bit of a let down were the chips which were a bit like supermarket frozen chips Will definitely visit again

Excellent as usual ,always made to feel welcome Teala and Tapa always professional but friendly and make time to chat and have a laugh whenever possible . Jazz always comes over to say hello and make sure everything is ok. Highly recommend the Grille Steakhouse.

Amazing dining experience. Food is fantastic with very generous portions. The staff are very friendly, welcoming and professional. The venue is very nice, clean and with a touch of class. I fully recommend this place for either your regular dining or that special event where you want to impress.

Great food great prices & great staff great atmosphere, just a generally great place

Made a last minute reservation here and we are so glad we did. For a steakhouse this restaurant has a very extensive menu with lots of meat options. We had steak, tiger prawns, ribs and wings between us. Everything we ate was excellent. I would go as far as to say that the ribs and the coleslaw that I ate were probably the best I have ever tasted. For a last minute booking we were given a great table away from other people by the window. The staff were lovely, friendly and very attentive. I think we would definitely revisit.

We had our meal on a Saturday at 5pm. We could choose our table. Staff were friendly and welcoming. I had ribeye steak my husband had a full rack of ribs in whiskey sauce. For dessert I had sticky toffee pudding. My husband had strawberry meringue. The good was excellent. Very tasty. Would highly recommend.

Food and service were first class. Gave 3 stars for atmosphere only because we went in at midday and the restaurant was quiet with only a couple of tables being used. Will definitely return.

The burger obviously is a aTurkey (not a chicken as item described) & it was raw. The Veg Lasagna was very salty, was not best this time

Have dined here a couple of times now and have been blown away each time. The place is sometimes very quiet but I have no idea why as it is great. Staff are extremely attentive and friendly. The food is delicious - always fresh, hot and plenty of it (especially for the price). We have tried the Chicago chicken, ribs, beef burger and chicken burger and have all been lovely. Good dessert selection too. Definitely recommend!

Amazing food! The ribs are incredibly tender and the BBQ chicken wings are delicious. Service was very quick and friendly. Priced fairly too considering the quality. How busy it is can vary considerably so it's well worth booking in advance to avoid disappointment.

22oz T-Bone Steak wow, we went on a spur of the moment on a Sunday afternoon, I ordered the 22oz T-Bone Steak medium rare, absolutely beautiful, my wife ordered the half rack of ribs, again absolutely beautiful, staff were polite and very attentive, drinks reasonably priced, will definitely be back

We ordered a take away from here and we weren't impressed, be aware images are deceiving we ordered burgers and what we got was VERY poor it doesn't state that you have to add everything except the patte, everything is listed as extra toppings, if you dont add the extras all you get is a pink burger in a dripping WET brioche bun, Avoid Avoid Avoid

Amazing service. We were treated with such kindness and were made to feel so comfortable and welcomed. We ordered starters mains and deserts with a few drinks and it was amazing prices! Great food portions too! The staff in this restaurant were so lovely. The chefs made the food with absolute perfection. If I could give more stars I would! We left this amazing restaurant full and smiles on our faces. We came here for a birthday meal September 2024, Amazing customer service! Amazing food and amazing prices for portions! Overrated. Wine tasted watered down, veggies were sour. Steak was OK, expected more from a steak house. Wasn’t impressed by the waiters comments on racial stereotypes. Apparently all ‘African people like well done steak’.

Visited yesterday 13th June not been for a while so decided to go for lunch. I had forgotten how superb this place was. From the starter to the sweet everything was spot on. Not going to leave it so long before our next visit.

Great food everytime we have been. Lovely service.

Resturant decor is a bit dark and dinghy could do with a revamp to become more modern. Kitchen very open so kitchen staff are visible. Although, that also means that they sometimes watch you which feels a bit awkward. Waitress we had was, to be honest, quite full of herself. Very outspoken to colleagues about customers, not very discreet as we could overhear! The only thing good about the food was the meat itself. You expect a steakhouse to cook good steak and they did. But...they couldn't cook anything else very well, which was quite disappointing. The steaks come with chips, onion rings, veg and peppercorn/Diane sauce as standard apparently, although that's not on the menu so you have to ask if you haven't been before. The chips were huge which meant they went cold fast. Not sure if they were frozen but they weren't fresh tasting. Onion rings were like cardboard, mostly just batter. Side of veg was just a bit odd, consisted of Brocolli, Cauliflower, Mushrooms, Onions and Potatoes? Just an odd side dish if you ask me. I'm all for a nice health side with steak but I've never seen this pairing and to be honest, it just wasn't nice (again didn't taste fresh). All in all, I wouldn't visit again. Some improvements need to be made mainly on the food side, but also on the atmosphere of the place.

We ate at the Grille Steakhouse yesterday, we were shocked to discover that apart from selecting which steak you’d prefer & your choice of beverage, we couldn’t choose which side orders we would prefer as the meal came with vegetables to share & chips, mandatory! The steak sauces were not Peppercorn sauce or Steak Diane! Peppercorn sauce does not usually include chopped mushrooms & the Diane sauce tasted like a beef gravy! Steaks were cooked well but won’t be returning

My girlfriend took me here for the first time yesterday as she had been there before and we had the lunch time special £15 for a main and a starter and OMG the food was AMAZING I have never tasted food that nice before in my life this is my go to place for food everytime I go into town now would 100% recommend you try this restaurant you will not be disappointed.

Stunning food, friendly and fast service.

Had a fantastic evening here at Grille. There were 29 of us celebrating my Sons 30th birthday. Food was amazing and very reasonably priced, portion sizes are very good and sides plentiful. Lots of jugs of sauces too. The staff were brilliant and nothing was too much trouble. I had pork steaks and they came with homemade chips and vegetables,lovely. The burgers looked fab and so did the steaks. Will defo come again. Thank you all for making our night special.

Absolutely got to be one of my new favourite restaurants, we came on a date night Friday and it was absolutely gorgeous, lovely and welcoming staff! Their Tomato soup had to be best we tasted!

I have been coming to the grille since the week it opened when my dad brought me for the first time, that was over a decade ago. I now take my daughter almost monthly, the staff are so welcoming and very understanding I'm a disabled mother and I struggle to go places as I feel judged, but I always feel safe here, plus they are wonderful at accommodating allergies and children Keep up the good work and I will see you soon

Who says the people of Yorkshire don't have a sense of humour? The people giving this place 5 stars certainly do. They literally burnt both the nachos and dough balls. The steaks were possibly the worst I have ever had. Tough with no flavour. There was no rescuing it. For the first time in my life I found myself jealous of what the 'enemy combatants' in Guantanamo Bay get force fed.

10 out of 10 on all aspects. Food was cooked perfectly and was piping hot. Good value for money and very friendly and approachable staff. Highly recommended.

Fabulous place. Fantastic food and brilliant staff. They accommodated 17 of us twice, once at short notice and made our weekend away one to remember. Will definitely be going back again and again.

Staff on the day I visited (Sunday) were not busy, friendly but not very efficient. Long wait to order dessert, long wait to get the bill. Tables were cleared and wiped down within minutes of a group leaving. We had Sunday Roast lunch. The food was ok, we both had beef. Which I guess was precooked and microwaved, cooked completely no hint of pink. Ok but not to my tastes. Vegetables were good, firm but not too firm, probably fresh. Nicely mashed and boiled potatoes came on the plate along with 3 slices of the meat and the Yorkshire pudding, this was a little strange, why not mashed and roasted potatoes? Got a boat of gravy each. Good selection on the dessert menu, (see phot0). I chose apple crumble and custard, which was very nice. Drinks are about the same as a pub in cost. Cocktail menu seemed ok but I didn't try any. Overall, food good but not excellent. Service ok but not great.

This is definitely a place to visit, they are very accommodating for special dietary requirements. We were a party of 5 celebrating the end of the year, unfortunately there was a large party that came in that were extremely loud and ready which made our evening less enjoyable. This was totally different to last years experience (our 1st visit) - not The Grille's fault. The other change was the menu, this year's was a set menu for a minimum of £24,95 we had 2 members in our group with dietary issues and couldn't eat 2 or 3 courses and felt pressured to order more to warrant the minimum charge, perhaps something that should have been mentioned when we booked? Great food, amazing staff - give it a try.

Lovely homemade properly seasoned food, reasonably priced, with great service. The owner (atleast I think it was the owner) brought some of our food out and had a good chat, they were absolutely lovely and attentive. This was our first visit and we will be back. We highly recommend the Chicago Chicken, all the burgers, and the kebabs. The garlic bread was absolutely outstanding too, a real tiger bread that by far the best we've ever had. Next we will be trying the steaks! 😋 EDIT: We're on our third visit now. Always exactly what we're after. Just bloody good homemade food! EDIT: Lost track of what number visit this is. We've now tried their curry menu which is also A** and are regulars.

Been to the Grille many times and went again tonight for our Daughters 17th birthday and once again had great food the place was busy with a good atmosphere and all the staff are always really friendly.Many thanks.

This is the best restaurant in Barnsley by a landslide! The staff are absolutely amazing, nothing is too much bother. Their banter is off the charts, they always recognise us and I always get a shot after my meal! Their food is absolutely gorgeous, I’ve never had a bad meal or bad experience here. It’s such a shame that Chilli next door closed a few years ago, but if you ask them they still accommodate you off the Chilli menu. We had a birthday meal here and they brought a dessert out with a candle on as well and blasted out the birthday song! We regularly get their takeaways also and have zero complaints. Both menus are delicious but the Chilli takeaway is just divine. I am fussy about my chicken pieces being too big, and when asked they chop up my chicken smaller for me. Nothing’s too much bother. I really cannot say a bad word about Grille, one of my favourite restaurants ever.

We visit Grille regularly and we feel welcome and valued customers. Last night, we visited again with some friends and again were greeted with a warm welcome. The two male waiters serving last night were very friendly and attentive. The food was delicious and all drinks made were lovely. We would recommend to anyone. Thank you!

We were in Barnsley for World Kickboxing Competition. Booked a table for 18 of us and could not fault it. We were all welcomed on arrival and felt right at home. We had a mixture of starters, mains, desserts and not one complaint. The food and service was excellent. Well done to you all and thank you for looking after us so well 😁

A group of 9 of us came Saturday evening, was shown to our table straightaway and drinks order taken, followed by food orders. Food arrived swiftly and was beautiful. Service was really good, all staff very attentive really welcoming and would not hesitate to return, thank you for a wonderful evening 😀

We travelled 27 miles on the Saturday to have a meal for my girlfriends birthday the following Tuesday. I fancied somewhere we had not been before and The Grille fitted the bill nicely. We were made to feel very welcome when we arrived and shown to our table. We ordered the chicken & duck spring rolls in a plum sauce to start and these were large and delicious. We followed this with a 10oz sirloin and ribeye with fried onions and melted cheese, again these were superbly cooked. The service was first class and on leaving the owner shook my hand and thanked us for our custom hoped to see us again in the future. It was definitely a memorable meal and one I would like to do again in the future.

Staff Friendly And Clean Everything Hot And Delicious Plenty Of Meals To Choose Everything Cooked To How You Want It And More Than Enough To Go Around Plenty Of Different Drinks To Choose From

Had a lovely meal with my wife, enjoyed an amazing steak, cooked to absolute perfection. The starters were really tasty, prawns were huge. To be honest we ate too much the potions were largish and yet the taste was absolutely gastronomic and this restaurant deserves much much more than a passing glance, because the service was first class. Excellent cuisine. The only thing letting the food down was the roughly chopped salad garnishes, which is minor, compared to the flavour and the tenderness of the meat.
