An honest , seemingly independent pub. We just had drinks but staff were fine with that. They were extremely quick and diligent Clearing up the tables.

Visited yesterday around 2pm. Lovely bar with an eclectic feel. Love the chandeliers. I ordered the Philly cheesesteak on ciabatta, amazing, and my husband had fish & chips, the fish was massive. The service is superb as soon as you walk through the door, nothing is too much trouble, thank you

Best food in Manchester at a good price

Excellent breakfast, eggs poached perfectly, golden lightly fried halloumi, crispy bacon on sourdough. Nice detail: lovely glass for water - lemon, straw, ice. Charming service.

My friend and I came to High Street Tavern to make the most of 50% off on Tuesdays (also on Mondays). I got a hearty pie that was served with some veg and chips, along with some halloumi on the side. We experienced very friendly service!

Food is ok. Service is better though. 2nd visit was better than the 1st. Hopefully the 3rd will be even better. 😄 Peter served us tonight and he was really nice and jolly! Thank you. Update: Came back in January 2025. Almost empty 2 other tables inside by the time we got there.. Everyone left and by 7:30 we were the only ones there.. I like the quiet but not sure how their business is doing. Still nice for a drink or two.

Restaurant location is very central, making it easy to access by foot for anyone staying around the city center. We were told to visit this restaurant by our hotel reception staff as it offers genuine food and drinks. Fish was of good quality and so was the pie, which was served along a jar of mouthwatering gravy. Overall satisfied with our experience and turns out they offer a 50% discount on food every Monday and Tuesday which made our bill much cheaper than expected! Worth visiting! Thank you Croft NQ

Stumbled upon this attractive bar. Very impressed. Staff are extremely professional and attentive. Table service with a smile. Food was delicious and as expected. Very busy and popular. Great atmosphere and clientele. The minted lamb pie n chips is to die for. Totally recommended

Only been here during the christmas markets so love the christmas atmosphere and decorations. Only had drinks so can't comment on the food, although some of the dishes being served looked great.

Recently renamed Croft NQ according to Jorvic..new owners autumn 2024? No real ale but a good pint of Guinness. Quiet on our visit. Some mums plus babies enjoying a brunch. Pleasant one room cafe bar.

After visiting this place 6 times I originally left a 5 star review. However after today's experience I will not be returning. We ordered 5 main meals and 4 drinks from the menu. Half way through my meal I asked for some more hot water in my pot of tea. This request was refused as they "don't do refills" which I find incredibly frugal. Considering we are spending £90 asking for some hot water is not asking for much! I have asked for several years in different cafes and restaurants for pot of tea refills and have NEVER been refused until this place. They clearly don't have customer service as their top priority. Also the older guy working there is miserable and rude. So I won't be coming back. I will say though the two ladies working there are super lovely. The food is nice and arrives quickly. The place is really clean and they have a good menu. But because they are so cheap they won't even give you water I won't be going back or recommending this place. Original review Love this place. It has half price food all day Monday and Tuesday. Nice staff, lots of seats, games available to play. Never had an issue with the food or drinks here. Would recommend

I can tell this is the best place I’ve ever eaten in the whole UK. It’s only my second time in High Street Tavern, as I am from Spain and I only come to Manchester for holidays, but this place became definitely my go to for nice food and with great prices. I will definitely recommend this place to everyone and look forward to come more often and share this with friends and colleagues. Staff and atmosphere also very kind and nice! Love it!

5 stars for the fact that the price was so reasonable, Service was great, huge portion and decent enough. We would have preferred the beef to be served pink as it was well done however that's personal taste.

Came here because federal next door was busy and I noticed it was quieter in here. This place deserves the same type of hype federal does I was served by a lovely man and the lady who brought my drink over was also lush. The perfect place to come and sit alone or with friends. Prices were also very reasonable, I will be back ☺️

Went to counter, ordered the deal for the day, clearly told lady the table I was sat at and that I needed one of the meals packing and one eating in. She showed me cutlery and condiments and sat for close to 30mins then lady turns up with Al food packed for take out. All food was already cold and tasteless. One wonders why weathespoon is always busy. Rubbish service.

It's one of our favourite bars in Manchester, and we always pay a visit every time we are in town. Great, safe, and friendly place with staff that go above and beyond to ensure you have a great time. The food is delicious and always served quickly. We would highly recommend the breakfast and Sunday lunches, but in all fairness, all the meals are delicious and great value for money. cocktails are great, especially during happy hour 😀

Very pleasantly surprised We picked here as we wanted a good value Sunday roast and at 13.95 it's alot cheaper than anywhere else. Firstly the staff as so warm and friendly and welcoming. The atmosphere is nice and chilled. There are lots of different seating types too which I really like Happy hour 4 til 7 every day 😮 including prosecco at £20!! The roast was really decent quality and massive. I'd put it above Bayhorse and Abel Heywood but it's no Albert Schloss or 10 Tib Lane but that's reflected in the price. It was so good I'm looking forward to going back to try other food off the menu.

The food was great, well made, and flavorful. They treated us excellently, and we struck up a good conversation with the staff by the end.

The atmosphere was lovely, not too loud but still friendly and buzzing. We spent a good while watching another table play Jenga to the enjoyment of the whole restaurant. Friendly staff and bouncer, nice visuals and the pizza was lovely.

Spectacular place to eat or have a drink, super central and charming staff. It has a couple of sofas too and the music is great.

Walked past here when looking for some pre-show food and drinks and they were offering half price food (Mon-Fri). The food was really enjoyable and very good quality. It was fantastic value with the money off but I would have still been pleased with it even at full price. The atmosphere was pleasant with different groups of people eating together or just having drinks. The staff were very polite, friendly and extremely efficient. The bar had a large selection of draught and spirits. We were very pleased to stumble upon this place, we easily could have walked past not realising how good it was going to be. I would definitely recommend and would visit again, should I return to Manchester.

Called in for a drink on a Friday night just before closing time. Staff were really helpful and polite. A good selection of drinks on offer. The bell rang for last orders while we were in but we'd already had sufficient by then.

Second time in here but first time eating and would definitely recommend. The staff are very friendly, very helpful and pleasant. Food was really lovely, hot and tasty .Loads of different seating, music was great!! Could have sat in there all afternoon!! Also got 50% off food bill!!! Very unexpected. Called in on Sunday afternoon for a drink . Food smelt lovely so we ordered a Sunday roast . It was the best I’ve had ( both in a pub & a restaurant) Staff were friendly , and it has a great atmosphere .There are some good offers on food Monday -Friday so we will definately be back . Would definately recommend a visit .

We absolutely love this place. We visit most times we Infrequently go to Manchester to catch up with 2/3rds of our boys. We are always remembered by the team and have a laugh and joke. Incredible interior and fabulous atmosphere. Breakfast is just perfect and we've never had a bad experience. Go visit and chill.

I am a frequent customer of the Sunday roast, which is consistently of a high standard. Since I also work in the hospitality industry, I occasionally bring an empty container to take some home for later consumption. The staff is consistently friendly and the establishment is maintained in a clean condition.

What a find this pub is won't for drinks on Friday happy hour 4 until 10 Peter was fab and the rest of the bar staff went back Saturday for tea cheese and onion pie and fish and chips all home made absolutely delicious we booked Sunday lunch we had beef and pork which was amazing Jed the assistant manager was fab and the bar staff overall would highly recommend

Had a lovely Sunday roast. Surprisingly empty. Can vouch for their roast chicken. Incredible value! I don’t understand the price. Maybe consider increasing prices because we almost didn’t come because it was too cheap.
