Lovely place. The decor is a bit plain and cold feeling but the food was nice. I got some maki and nigiri sushi. Friend loves his deep fried veggie and fried squid maki. The quality of the fish was good. We requested more salmon on the mixed sushi platter and they did it accordingly which was lovely. The miso soup was hot which was great. It was nice but I wouldn't say amazing. All is all it was nice but not amazing. I would say perhaps a bit on the expensive side.

I had an afternoon tea at the Arkle in The Chester Grosvenor purchased for me as a birthday present. My partner & I selected a mixture of traditional & gentleman’s afternoon tea to share between us. The traditional is finger sandwiches and the gentleman’s was bigger items including Welsh rarebit, chicken roll & an amazing battered haddock sandwich. The sweet treats were beautifully made and it was made extra special with a chocolate happy birthday! The selection of teas was vast, I went for English breakfast and my partner chose the rum coffee tea which was really different but very nice. The service was great, it did get a bit quieter with servers after 4pm though. There isn’t a dress code at this time, I dressed a bit fancy as it was a special occasion but others were very casual so anything goes really!

Nice decor and friendly people. Dogs welcome. However: They had no idea what a "cortado" is so barista skills/expertise are lacking. Very small choice of sweet treats. The scone we had was very dry, clearly nowhere near fresh.

Went for an evening takeaway at the lovely Swallow Inn, all the staff were fantastic, genuinely very helpful and most of all very friendly. The food was fantastic you can tell the cooks you don't see work hard and take care about the food they make. Was lovely and couldn't fault at all. With an amazing selection on offer I cannot recommend enough! I am not a local but next time I am passing through I'll be sure to come again. Such a lovely team who make you feel right at home.

My first visit to The Halston to celebrate two friends big birthdays. We'd pre booked and reserved a table a while ago, as it's very popular. We were at the Bartons Yard end of the hotel. Entrance was via reception to ensure that those people having afternoon tea were not disturbed by hotel and bar footfall. The staff were superb and very helpful. They were also very thorough, ensuring there were no allergies. It was a Festive themed afternoon tea. We started with finger sandwiches and soup, followed by sweet and savoury mini treats. Tea and coffee were included, with fizz as an optional extra. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the ample offerings. The presentation and attention to detail were exquisite. We finished off with drinks in the hotels Penny Blue Restaurant. I would definitely consider attending again. If there's a member of your group with allergies or the menu is just not their bag, discuss other options so you don't feel as though you have to miss out. You will be accommodated. There are good facilities at the hotel, and it's accessible. There's a car park next to the hotel ÂŁ1 per hour, pay on departure, so no clock watching. The hotel is also only a few minutes' walk from the bus station, railway station and various routes bus stops.
