Really unhappy and disappointed with our experience. The ketchup burnt my children’s faces really badly and owner just shrugged it off not bothered at all. Not an apology or look into it nothing. Luckily we didn’t order meals for us all and just a pit stop for half a toastie. Hot chocolates we ordered for children were scolding hot and burnt my lip, after 10 mins we asked for replacement.

My grandson who always asks to come here when he visits us all the way from Bristol says “Downham Cafe provides good food and a good atmosphere overall. Staff are polite and quick to the job too!” As a family we have been eating here for many years. Long may it continue to provide us with meals, a comfortable place for a family ranging from 0 - 70+.

There are so many fancy restaurants in Downham Market but none come close to the Downham Market Cafe for value for money, for the quantity of food you get, and the superb ultra friendly staff who can't do enough for you. This has become a regular place to eat for me and my wife and i can personally guarantee that you won't find a much better all round cafe / restaurant. Well done keep up the good work

We went for breakfast this morning and thoroughly enjoyed it. The owner and staff are extremely friendly and attentive .... they meet you at the door on arrival and open it for you as you leave. The premises are spotlessly clean and welcoming. There is a huge choice of breakfast options and our breakfast was freshly cooked and very tasty. There is also an interesting and extensive menu for all various types of meals. A definite must for an enjoyable visit !

The burger was awful, like rubber. Processed cheese added to it was terrible. No tomato or lettuce on it, you had to pay extra. Waitress couldn't speak english. We finally gave up trying to explain about our order being wrong

If you are travelling and want a stop off I can recommend the Downham Café & Restaurant (13 Market Place, Downham Market, PE38 9DF Tel. 01366 381112). There is a free car park which is only a ten minute walk away. Morrisons, Bridge Street, Downham Market, PE38 9DP. The atmosphere is very friendly and the food is good. They do special OAP meals and it is obviously a well respected business in the local area. It is family run and you feel very welcome there. Sometimes on a long journey it is lovely to plan in a stop off. A little break in the journey and a snack or a meal can rejuvenate you for the onward miles. The baklava was delicious. Thank you.

This cafe is the best for miles. Super food at very reasonable prices. The staff are very efficient and polite. If you are anyway near, divert to Downham Market for your lunch.

Best omlettes in Downham. We've been here several times and never had a bad meal. We're always welcomed and our little boy is always treated well! We will keep coming here everytime we venture to Downham. Best place in town.

Friendly staff, good range of food on the menu, fast service. Had tiny fruit flies attracted to my food so that was the only downside. Good baby changing facilities.

We visited here on a Tuesday after visiting Sandringham Estate for an event. Very welcoming. Super quick and attentive service. Food was fantastic - great value and great quality

Camping locally and woke up hankering for a big breakfast. Phoned up to order and collected hot food just ten minutes later. Had bacon sandwich, bacon and egg sandwich and a full breakfast in a tray. Everything cooked really well and the coffees were delicious. The server was super helpful and friendly. Solid recommed

As it was, I only popped in to get an egg and bacon roll. It was fairly quicly presented and very nice to eat as I went about my business.

Always good quality food and service and not over priced like a lot of places. A good selection of menu choices from hot breakfasts, lunches and evening meals. Open 7 days a week.

This cafe is always clean and tidy, staff well presented, polite and friendly and helpful, everything is on menu always available . Freshly prepared and cooked I would highly recommend this cafe, we will be going back very soon.

We called in today for a hot drink and a sandwich. Ended up staying a while. Comfortable and welcoming place to sit and enjoy. Huge menu with many vegetarian options. Friendly and welcoming. Great service. One of the best Irish coffees I've had. Very reasonable bill for three drinks and two sandwiches.

A beautiful room, with (18C?) tastefully picked out with colour, pargetry ceiling. Friendly owner. I just wanted something non-fussy and a cup of tea. Two rounds of basic toast with heaps of a 3 egg scrambled egg topping was perfect. I would go again. Thanks.

Myself and my friend was visiting Downham Market and wanted somewhere we could sit down and have a hot meal. So we saw the menu outside and we went in and sat down. It's very clean and nicely decorated. Nice atmosphere too. As we looked at the menu and a waitress popped over and asked if we wanted drink. Her name was Julia and she was very polite and helpful and cheerful. We both ordered two breakfasts from the set menu as they have a breakfast set menu. My friend wanted scrambled eggs with his. We ordered drinks too. What came to our table wasnt what we ordered, no scambled eggs, the bacon was very salty and hard, the sausage wasn't a good quality one, my egg was hard, but cold, fried bread and mushrooms were ok. I had to ask for the free hot drink at the till. 3 people there and had to wait while a customer kept them chatting. My friend was disappointed about the eggs. We ended up not eating most of it and felt it wasn't value for money. He ordered a milkshake and it had way too much sugar in it and was made with a well known liquid milkshake mix. For what he paid for, he should have had some ice cream in it. Waitress was lovely, funny and very helpful, but unfortunately the food let the experience down. Ok for a snack, and a cuppa, but nothing more and we have agreed that we shall not be doing a return visit anytime soon.

Stopped off during a trip to the coast for a late lunch. Clean and tidy and 3 of 4 staff were warm and friendly. Portions were generous and well cooked. My only comment, not really a complaint was the bacon was totally lacking any fat of any kind - probably suits most people but I do enjoy the extra flavour the rind gives. Very good prices and will definitely eat there again.

I had the pleasure of 6 months of lunch with these guys whilst dog grooming I,n town ,the chicken kebab and grilled chicken are the best around by far ! Always friendly and I wish I lived nearer! I will be back soon though ! And I so miss the coffee. That was really nice 👍

We stopped at this fabulous café as I'm a sucker for a good quality full English breakfast and this place didn't disappoint, everything was on point, good quality sausages,, bacon and generally well cooked. I've been to some cafe's in the past and they couldn't even cook and egg properly sunny side up and use cheap sausages but not Downham café, all cooked to a high standard and served by friendly staff. The market down of Downham seems a lovely quite place which has a lovely clock tower which is it's focal point. If ever you plan of passing through Downham and fancy a bite to eat then please visit this café. You won't be disappointed.

Three meals ordered very different outcomes we had salmon, gammon and veggie spaghetti. Salmon and gammon were alright. Veggie spaghetti not so much it had no taste it was supposed to have mushroom, peppers, garlic and a homemade tomato sauce. No sauce couldn’t taste any garlic barely any mushrooms and peppers you were just eating a bowl of spaghetti. There wasn’t a lot of spaghetti neither the family member who had it doesn’t eat very much and they left still hungry. Waiter service was ok though but someone who came out from behind the scenes I’m guessing the pot washer as they had rubber gloves on wasn’t very friendly.

Stopped here when visiting Downham Market early to collect a car. I needed a quick Latte and Bacon Sandwich and Downham Cafe was able to fulfil that need. Latte and Bacon Sandwich was quickly served and cost £4.70 to take away. Coffee was very nice and the bacon sandwich was basic but hit the spot.
