Stopped here for lunch & was not, disappointed. Service was great, & the was food delicious. A little gem of a place

Excellent breakfasts and polite courteous staff. They have developed a habit of clearing plates the second someone is finished. I find this a bit rude and leaves one person still eating at the end. Best manners in this country is to wait until the entire table has finished, then clear plates.

Absolutely wonderful Cafe in Downham Market. Food is superb, service is immaculate and very good value for money. I like to come regularly with my family and the Downham Cafe is always top notch.

we went to downham cafe for lunch today. very welcoming staff and quick and efficient to serve you. great atmosphere and the food was really perfect. Fresh veg and perfectly cooked. I would recommend X first class. we are back on Tuesday. Very good price too!

Came for some breakfast with the boyfriend and it was perfect. Freshly squeezed orange juice and an omelette meal bigger than my head, very filling. Friendly staff who made us feel welcome and nothing was too much trouble, would definitely return and recommend to others!

Fantastic food! Super friendly staff! The key words are clean, efficient, spacious and delicious. I'd highly recommend any of the omelettes teamed with freshly pressed orange juice, amazing!

Our group of friends meet there regularly. Susanna swiftly seats us, takes our orders and rapidly provides our choice of delicious meals from the extensive menu. A cosy, friendly and relaxing atmosphere.

The first sign that we'd gone to the right place was seeing how full it was and some tables even reserved. A very friendly welcome and attentive service throughout. Food and drinks were good quality, freshly prepared, and a sensible price. Very clean and tidy cafe. Definitely recommend.

Date of Visit: 04/11/2024 - The service was ***EXCELLENT*** by both ladies, very attentive and courteous. The ‘Mega Breakfast’ was of a satisfactory standard, and with a cup of tea or coffee; is good value at £8 in todays economic climate I feel - This is the 2nd time I have been to Downham Cafe now and I would definitely return again in future - Thank you for your service yesterday ladies :)

Visited for the first time yesterday. The breakfast was excellent, the young lady that served us was welcoming, friendly, courteous and humorous. Good experience all round, would highly recommend.

Excellent food and great prices and portions for pensioners

Really unhappy and disappointed with our experience. The ketchup burnt my children’s faces really badly and owner just shrugged it off not bothered at all. Not an apology or look into it nothing. Luckily we didn’t order meals for us all and just a pit stop for half a toastie. Hot chocolates we ordered for children were scolding hot and burnt my lip, after 10 mins we asked for replacement.

My grandson who always asks to come here when he visits us all the way from Bristol says “Downham Cafe provides good food and a good atmosphere overall. Staff are polite and quick to the job too!” As a family we have been eating here for many years. Long may it continue to provide us with meals, a comfortable place for a family ranging from 0 - 70+.

First time been here ,my partner and I had the pensioners menu over 60's ,I had the shepherds pie veg and potatoes the food was good APART from the shepherds pie ,which was just a small slab of potatoe with some minced and gravy around it ,it really was not anyway shape or form shepherds pie ,and the portion was frankly very poor ,I know it's cheaper than the main menu I understand that ,but I felt insulted that because I'm a pensioner you thought it was acceptable to serve me that tiny excuse of what was suppose to be shepherds pie . The potatoes and veg were well cooked ,but the experience was spoiled by the pie ,we were going to have a desert but decided against it. .My partners fish and chips were adeqaute as shes a light eater ,it was well cooked she said and nice . It's a nice restaurant and nice people but it just let itself down ,,will I visit again ? Maybe ,we will see. Should have said something at the time ,but frankly I didn't see any point ,would it had made any difference? Sorry to post this but I really think it needed bringing to the attention of the owners. After just seeing a reply from the owner ,which I appreciate ,they have totally ignored my point about the shepherds pie ,regardless of it's portion size,if they think that what I had resembles shepherds pie in any way shape or form then I'm lost for words . Yes it's £6.40 for pensioners but that doesn't mean you put a small slab of potatoe on a plate with some mince and gravy around it and call it shepherds pie !!! A little sad the owner completely ignored my point without a hint of apology or understanding my complaint

A quick lunch that was some of the best food we’d had in Norfolk. We found that the staff are lovely, the food came out quickly and everything was on point. Don’t underestimate this place :)

There are so many fancy restaurants in Downham Market but none come close to the Downham Market Cafe for value for money, for the quantity of food you get, and the superb ultra friendly staff who can't do enough for you. This has become a regular place to eat for me and my wife and i can personally guarantee that you won't find a much better all round cafe / restaurant. Well done keep up the good work

We went for breakfast this morning and thoroughly enjoyed it. The owner and staff are extremely friendly and attentive .... they meet you at the door on arrival and open it for you as you leave. The premises are spotlessly clean and welcoming. There is a huge choice of breakfast options and our breakfast was freshly cooked and very tasty. There is also an interesting and extensive menu for all various types of meals. A definite must for an enjoyable visit !

The burger was awful, like rubber. Processed cheese added to it was terrible. No tomato or lettuce on it, you had to pay extra. Waitress couldn't speak english. We finally gave up trying to explain about our order being wrong

If you are travelling and want a stop off I can recommend the Downham Café & Restaurant (13 Market Place, Downham Market, PE38 9DF Tel. 01366 381112). There is a free car park which is only a ten minute walk away. Morrisons, Bridge Street, Downham Market, PE38 9DP. The atmosphere is very friendly and the food is good. They do special OAP meals and it is obviously a well respected business in the local area. It is family run and you feel very welcome there. Sometimes on a long journey it is lovely to plan in a stop off. A little break in the journey and a snack or a meal can rejuvenate you for the onward miles. The baklava was delicious. Thank you.

Best omlettes in Downham. We've been here several times and never had a bad meal. We're always welcomed and our little boy is always treated well! We will keep coming here everytime we venture to Downham. Best place in town.

We visited here on a Tuesday after visiting Sandringham Estate for an event. Very welcoming. Super quick and attentive service. Food was fantastic - great value and great quality

Camping locally and woke up hankering for a big breakfast. Phoned up to order and collected hot food just ten minutes later. Had bacon sandwich, bacon and egg sandwich and a full breakfast in a tray. Everything cooked really well and the coffees were delicious. The server was super helpful and friendly. Solid recommed

As it was, I only popped in to get an egg and bacon roll. It was fairly quicly presented and very nice to eat as I went about my business.

Always good quality food and service and not over priced like a lot of places. A good selection of menu choices from hot breakfasts, lunches and evening meals. Open 7 days a week.

We called in today for a hot drink and a sandwich. Ended up staying a while. Comfortable and welcoming place to sit and enjoy. Huge menu with many vegetarian options. Friendly and welcoming. Great service. One of the best Irish coffees I've had. Very reasonable bill for three drinks and two sandwiches.

A beautiful room, with (18C?) tastefully picked out with colour, pargetry ceiling. Friendly owner. I just wanted something non-fussy and a cup of tea. Two rounds of basic toast with heaps of a 3 egg scrambled egg topping was perfect. I would go again. Thanks.

Myself and my friend was visiting Downham Market and wanted somewhere we could sit down and have a hot meal. So we saw the menu outside and we went in and sat down. It's very clean and nicely decorated. Nice atmosphere too. As we looked at the menu and a waitress popped over and asked if we wanted drink. Her name was Julia and she was very polite and helpful and cheerful. We both ordered two breakfasts from the set menu as they have a breakfast set menu. My friend wanted scrambled eggs with his. We ordered drinks too. What came to our table wasnt what we ordered, no scambled eggs, the bacon was very salty and hard, the sausage wasn't a good quality one, my egg was hard, but cold, fried bread and mushrooms were ok. I had to ask for the free hot drink at the till. 3 people there and had to wait while a customer kept them chatting. My friend was disappointed about the eggs. We ended up not eating most of it and felt it wasn't value for money. He ordered a milkshake and it had way too much sugar in it and was made with a well known liquid milkshake mix. For what he paid for, he should have had some ice cream in it. Waitress was lovely, funny and very helpful, but unfortunately the food let the experience down. Ok for a snack, and a cuppa, but nothing more and we have agreed that we shall not be doing a return visit anytime soon.
