Given the reviews we were expecting good things. The staff were friendly enough , but the food at best was average , for example soggy toast with a spread of very dubious origin. Butter it was not. The poached eggs to go with the toast were solid too. Consequently we have not been back

Always a favourite when I pop in Philipo the owner is fantastic and looks like he's a fantastic cocktail maker, he always remembers you on returning which says a lot. Very polite, knowledgable and willing, quick service and accomodating even when busy. Gets a great crowd and mixture, anyone wanting a Nice Drink pop in and come here. Great location in the City Centre, fo everything, decent prices too and has a more upscale feel but don't be put off by that. Great, classy, clean, cool toilets as well ha ha.

I found this little gem by chance on Google . There are insufficient words to describe how utterly amazing it is ... worthy of more than 5 stars . Had lunch with 2 friends ( both seasoned travellers ) they considered their meals to be as good as anything they had eaten in Italy. Highly recommended and we will definitely be returning customers. Thank you for a wonderful lunch. 😁

I am reviewing 2 visits. Our first visit was for a lunchtime sandwich. Our second was for a Sunday lunch. Our lunchtime sandwich was a lovely experience. We sat in the main area of the cafe which was calm, light and airy, nice atmosphere and service. The sandwich was very good, fresh and plentiful. The Sunday lunch was served in what I would call the conservatory. It was very cramped and busy. The air conditioning was turned up way too high, but was turned off on request. The Pynes roast beef was very nicely presented but ruined by over use of garlic. The cutlery wasn't suitable as the knife didn't really cope with the beef, even though it was perfectly cooked. The dessert was delicious, I had blackberry and apple pie. On payment, we tried to use a voucher which had been given as a present. There had been a problem with the system back in June, which had cost The Levels a considerable amount of money. They said that they had sent emails to everyone explaining the problem. Our son checked, but found no trace of any email. He had however had the amount of the voucher refunded a few days after purchase. We paid for the meal, but felt a bit let down by the whole experience. Also one W.C. for male and female for a whole restaurant is not adequate.
