A family friend recommended this restaurant and it did not disappoint! The restaurant is absolutely beautiful with modern decor and spacious surroundings. There is certainly nothing like this in the area! The food presentation was on point and full of flavours. A popular restaurant with the locals which is no surprise as the service is fantastic. Will be back soon to try their new seasonal menus.

WE CELEBRATED OUR 50TH WEDDING ANNIVERSARY ON THE 14TH SEP. THE STAFF WERE WELCOMING, FRIENDLY AND HELPFUL. THE FOOD WAS DELICIOUS THE VENUE HAS A RELAXING, ELEGANT AMBIENCE WITH TASTEFUL BACKGROUND MUSIC. ALTHOUGH THE RESTSURANT IS OPEN PLAN IT IS TASTEFULLY DECORATED AND WITH GOOD ACOUTICE. THE NOISE WAS MUTED AND WE COULD CONVERSE EASILY, AND, WE WERE NOT OVERWHELMED BY NOISE FROM THE OTHER DINERS.S IN THE ROOM.

Went as a group of four friends for Sunday lunch. The restaurant itself is absolutely lovely. The decor is fab and it’s very airy, spacious and modern. The food was really delicious and I can’t find fault in any of it. Decent sized portions for sure and we came away feeling very full! The only (ever so slight) negative point is that it was very empty when we visited so was lacking the usual buzz of a busy Sunday lunch destination.

This is the first time we have been to the Palm for a good while and we were very impressed - Service was outstanding , nothing was too much trouble and the food very good. Well worth a visit.

Beautiful food in a beautiful atmosphere with gorgeous decor. 15 mins from Basingstoke centre, surrounded by lush countryside. Indoor and outdoor dining and a delicious cocktail menu.

OMG! Best meal in UK! Great atmosphere, customer service was awesome. I had the Goan Curry Chicken, soooo good, wife had the Herb Encrusted Cod, friends had Goan Sea Bass and Sirloin Steak. All fabulous, finished it off with the Pina Colada desert! If you have the opportunity, go and try it out.

My daughter and I came to catch up over afternoon tea in some beautiful surroundings and The Palm did not disappoint, lovely aspect in serene surroundings with stunning food and wonderful service. We will return..

Fabulous welcome, service and lunch today at the Palm Brasserie. The menu is excellent with a good choice to suit all tastes and nothing is too much trouble for the staff. 10/10 couldn’t fault it and will definitely be going back.

It was my 60th birthday and I had been on two ‘scouting’ missions before and I have to say The Palm lived up to my expectations. There were 14 of us at dinner and everything - starters, mains, sauces, desserts and drinks were of the highest quality. Vegetarian and gluten-free menus added seamlessly to the evening. The service was exemplary as always. I cannot praise this brasserie enough. Three visits - three exemplary meals with the 14 head being the most challenging. I would eat there at any time.

I came with my elderly parents, sister and her 3 young children for an early dinner last Friday. Despite it being slightly busy, we were well looked after, the food was very delicious and the portions were good value for money. Our young waitress Pippa was very patient with my young nieces, very friendly, helpful and smiley, even whilst looking after several other tables. (Thank you!) The food was quite slow to come out but from the looks of things, they seemed to be understaffed, but the staff didn’t let that affect our dinner which was nice. I will definitely be returning to sample the delicious afternoon teas I saw!

We came for a late lunch on Saturday to celebrate our friend’s birthday. The restaurant was still fairly busy with quite a few tables booked for large group gatherings and several other tables occupied for smaller groups. All of the waiting staff were courteous & acknowledged the birthday girl with a lovely small slice of cake & a lit candle at the end of our meal which she loved. Our meals tasted lovely & were nicely presented - we had 3 courses & they were all excellent. The only slight negative was the mash on two of our lamb dishes was lukewarm although they did offer to replace it when they came round enquiring if we were happy with our food but it didn’t detract from our enjoyment. Desserts were superb from the pistachio ice cream to the beautifully presented Classic Mont Blanc & the best Pina Colada! Such a lovely venue to have in the Basingstoke area with hard working happy staff & well presented & tasty food - they deserve to continue to do well & we will definitely be returning!

We have been coming to the Brasserie since it opened many years ago and have always had a great meal with attentive service. Seasonal menu with new dishes and not just the same dishes everytime you open the menu! The food is always well presented in a lovely upmarket interior. Definitely the family favourite and worth the travel all the way from the other side of town.

This remains my favourite restaurant in the Basingstoke area! Have been here many times and every time has been exceptional. I dined here last night and the food was incredible. Best chocolate fondant dessert I have ever had. Can’t wait to come again!

Pre-booked for a family of 5 to enjoy a Mothers Day meal. Having used The Palm Brasserie a number of times before, we expected a good meal and an enjoyable evening in a lovely and modern atmosphere. Unfortunately, Sunday 10th March at 6pm turned into a rather unpleasant experience. So many things built up to be a big issue: 1). We were seated after a 10 minute wait away from the main restaurant. Not an issue you'd think, but it was dark enough that we couldn't read the menu without using our phones. We raised this with staff and they brought additional table lights, but to no avail. We persisted as we knew the food had always been good. 2). We were expecting to see the Mother's Day menu as well as the usual menu but were told that that the Mother's Day menu ceased to be served from 6:00 PM. This was really disappointing and was not clearly apparent on the restaurant's website. 3). The waitress took our drink and food orders - unfortunately no chicken milanese (surprising as it's a fairly straight forward dish). To avoid disappointment, we should have been informed of dishes that were no longer available when seated as one of our party had to hastily make another selection. Drinks arrived without issue and then the 'nibbles' were delivered for one but the starters weren't for everybody else. We raised this with our waitress and the starters arrived a few minutes later. Not a great issue but just a bit odd we thought. 4). Three beef burgers were ordered and every one of them was tough-as-nails and at best, luke warm. Cutting in to them it was evident that the chef must've taken a liking to salt as they were way to seasoned to even be pleasant. Basically, inedible. 5). Another meal was fillet steak and this was requested to be rare with a peppercorn sauce. It arrived but the waiter said they had no peppercorn sauce so had provided a red wine sauce instead!!! No mention of this before the food arrived - madness. 6). The steak was delivered and was better than 'well done'. At this point we asked for the manager (turned out to be a temp manager as the waitress had seemingly finished her shift at 7pm) to complain about each of the main courses. He immediately stated that he hadn't had a break and nor had he drunk water. With the greatest of respect, I pointed out that I cared a little less about his day and was complaining about the food. He disappeared having taken the fillet steak with him but left the burgers. The manager arrived a minute or two later and asked if the food was ok. I repeated the whole story, as clearly the first person hadn't said anything about the issues we were experiencing. She was very apologetic and stated that we wouldn't be charged for the main course. We confirmed that we didn't want a replacement steak or anything else and asked for the bill. 7). 5 mins passed and as we were readying to go, a replacement steak turned up. We reminded the waiter at this point that it wasn't wanted. 8). The temp manager presented the bill, minus the main courses but had added a tip. Before even presenting the bill to us, he realised that a tip was like adding fuel to a fire and hurried away to re-present it. 9). I went to pay the bill and to talk to the manager privately and thanked her for being the only person to actually ask what the issues were. She explained that there had been kitchen issues and to her credit, amended the bill to remove the main courses; only to be charged for the drinks and starters. We obviously didn't want to stay any longer than we had to and made our escape. Such a great shame as this place has served us well in the past. We will have to think very carefully about returning as it clearly has issues it needs to address.

We had to wait quite a long time to order then an hour for food, they brought us 2 courses at once! The food was tasty. The ambience was awful with a child screaming most of the time. We did not stop for pudding or coffee, glad to get out. People were complaining about how long they had to wait, the car park was inadequate. We had to wait for someone to leave, no blue badge parking spots. Apart from the food the rest was dire. Shame, as it was a Mother’s Day treat for me.

I can’t believe I am writing this about The Palm, we loved this place. Came for Mother’s Day dinner and that’s when it all unfolded. 20min wait for our table, with the front of house coming and repeatedly asking our booking name and getting the number in our party wrong. Finally got seated and ordered our food. Starters all turned up with one person’s arriving 5minutes after everyone else’s. Maine arrived without starters being collected. Mediocre just about cuts it for the quality. Curry brought to table with rice following 10minutes later after telling the staff twice. Kids meal arrived 15 minutes after adults and it was so hot she couldn’t eat it! The staff asked once if we wanted drinks then when one person asked for water he left without taking the rest of the order. Water arrived no clean glasses accompanied. We’ve paid the bill and I’m still staring at two of our starter plates still there, even after the mains has been clear. Completely gutted and disappointed. Not sure we will return here again.

Chose Palm Brasserie for Mother’s Day meal we had experienced lovely food there previously. However, waited over an hour and half for our food and when it arrived it was less than acceptable. Roast chicken was dry and looked the size of a chicken wing. My son ordered the sea bass curry and it was the tiniest piece of fish, with potatoes instead of rice. We were ignored when we raised our concerns with the food and we sent it all back. Such a shame that Mother’s Day was ruined - I won’t be returning. Family next to us had booked for afternoon tea, only to be told they had none left so they left also - says it all !

My husband booked a family meal for Mother’s Day, knowing that Palm Brasserie is a favourite of mine (or should I say WAS). We were all really looking forward to our visit but on arrival it was clear that the staff were struggling with a busy day (even though there were several empty tables). We waited 20 minutes to be seated at a table that needed to be cleaned and laid. We then waited another 20 minutes trying to get the attention of any waiter to pass. Others around us were discussing the wait they’ve had for their food and another table were refusing to pay for their meal as they were unhappy with their food. After an hour of being in the building and not even been asked for our drinks order, we left! Disappointed to say the least!

I pre-booked a mother's day treat for my wife and her friends to have cocktails afternoon tea. When I made the booking I paid the cost up front over the phone to make sure the women didn't have to pay on the day, agreeing any extra drinks ordered above the package would be paid on the day. However, at the end of the meal they were informed that there was £50 To be paid because their new menu had a price increase since the booking. This is absurd considering we booked and paid weeks in advance based on the menu prices at the time of £28 per head. The palm tried to intimidate and bully them into paying the extra money. When they refused, the palm then told them that VAT wasn't included so they at least had to pay that, their menu does not state food costs are before VAT (I have the copy of the menu with original prices archived). This was an underhanded tactic to try and get additional money from my wife and her friends. Absolutely shocking behaviour. Not only that, but it took over an hour for a pre-booked, pre-paid afternoon tea to be delivered, and the staff became rude when this long wait was challenged. I was informed by the party that the service was atrocious, even if the food was enjoyed. None of the families who attended will be returning to the palm and we will be warning everyone else away. I hope the extra £50 you were so desperate to add to the bill without cause is worth the loss of custom. The palm brasserie spoiled what was supposed to be a nice afternoon away from the stresses of looking after young children for 3 highly deserving mothers. Sort out your service, quit bullying customers and honour the prices agreed at the time of a pre-booking, especially when they're also pre-paid!

Husbands pre paid for us to have cocktail afternoon tea on mother's day, we had to wait over an hour for our afternoon tea after arrival and that wad with us asking 3 people including 1 we thought was the manager and we had no apologies from anyone! Most staff seemed to avoid eye contact, there was no checking on anyone. They tried to charge us extra at the end because they had upped their prices since we booked and pre paid over the phone , making out they'd told our husband this on the phone which was 100% not the case. They then tried to say we had to still pay the additional VAT which they hadn't included in the price, again we weren't happy with this excuse. Shocking service, poor wait times we didn't seem to be the only ones! Food was actually pretty nice though still not enough for what they were trying to charge for an afternoon tea! Won't be coming back.

My husband brought me here for mothers day which I was really looking forward to having heard such great things from others. We arrived at 12pm and was seated straight away, restaurant was fairly empty at this point and everything seemed to be going well. We ordered drinks and starters which we had no issues with ( although we did ask for another glass which seemed to take them 20 minutes to do but at this point it was the only little niggle and we could let it go). We had ordered 2 roast beefs and 2 childrens meals, one was a chicken with pasta and the other a mini burger. After a fair while of waiting for our meals, a waitress came over to apologise for the delay in getting our food out to us. About 10 minutes later another waitress came to ask us if we would like any puddings, which we found fairly amusing seeing as we hadn't even had the mains yet. My husband then went and asked the manager where our food was as by this point it must have been getting close to an hour if not more. He apologised and asked if we would like another round of drinks which we said yes to. A couple of minutes later our food arrived- but cold!! We had to send both roasts back and wait for them to deliver new ones. The actual dinner itself was absolutely delicious! Couldn't fault it! The childrens meals however...the chips with the burger had far too much salt on them to the point my daughter couldn't eat them and the chicken pasta was basically a chicken roast with a small bowl of spaghetti on the side (for any other child this meal would have been ideal however as we expected a pasta dish unfortunately most of it went to waste) Once we had finished our mains the manager then did come to ask if we still wanted a round of drinks that he had mentioned half an hour previous which by this point it was already 2pm and we had already finished all the meals so we declined. On the whole the actual food was nice -despite the childrens meal being too salty. Its just a massive shame that today of all days they seemed to really struggle. We witnessed the table next to us having to send their food back a couple of times and having read other reviews it seems we weren't the only ones to experience problems. Not sure if we would ever return unfortunately.

Our family visited once again and the food was to die for. The Goan Curry was absolutely amazing, as was the steak ordered by my son. Try the ox cheeks, as they are unbelievable.

My husband and I visited the Palm Brasserie for the second time to celebrate Valentines day. Our first visit had not left a very good impression, more for the service than the food, so we decided to give them a second chance and booked. The menu advertised was for 4 courses at £45 a head and seemed reasonable. When we arrived, we were shown to our table, the restaurant was busy, all tables of two for the evening so their capacity of diners was probably down for a normal service, however, being midweek, their bookings were possibly up on a standard Wednesday. We ordered drinks and waited about 30 minutes for our canapes to arrive - delicious!. Unfortunately, it was another 30 minutes before our starters arrived and by then we were ravenous! My Husband had the Teriyaki chicken and I had the beetroot and goats cheese. Whilst the food was very tasty and very well presented, there was not much of it, but we put it down to the fact it was a starter so were not too concerned. When our main arrived however, it proved to be a theme for the evening. My Husband had the king prawn linguini, absolutely beautiful, but again not a very large portion. I went for the English Wagyu steak as I had never tried it, and thought for an additional £8 it should be worth it. However, how wrong I was. The steak was no bigger than a burger and about 1cm thick. It came with what appeared to be three cheesy potato croquettes (again very small), about a dozed halves of grapes and a smear of avocado puree - that was it!. We then had dessert and went for the coconut parfait and the cheesecake. The cheesecake was heart shaped and about the size of a cupcake and the coconut parfait was not much bigger. It is worth pointing out that I have had gastric surgery so my ability to eat a 3 course meal is limited, but I finished off the whole three courses and my Husband went home hungry. When the bill arrived, the total, including two drinks each and the service charge, was a whopping £137!. On arrival this morning, I discussed this with my workmates, one of who had bought a Marks and Spencer Valentine meal for two, £15 which was for 3 courses and a bottle of wine - I think under the circumstances we would have been better off staying home and doing that for the difference in price. Whilst the food was absolutely delicious - no complaints whatsoever about the taste and quality of the food, and the service ok (a little slow between ordering and getting starters) the portion sizes for the amount charged was bordering on daylight robbery. I discovered that had we wanted to, we could have eaten from the standard menu, but were never offered that option. I would hope that their standard menu has larger portion sizes and can only think that as their capacity was down due to the tables being set up for couples, that placed a premium on the prices charged. Otherwise, if they serve similar portion sizes on a regular basis, they will not stay open very long

First time here and I am totally shocked to have been served stone cold raw chicken for my starter. This is unacceptable. I came with my partner for a Valentine's meal and I was disgusted to be served. Raw chicken This restaurant is supposed to be 5* . It definitely was not tonight. I was given a replacement but the whole experience had been ruined and I was concerned that this error was even possible.

We chose this restaurant for a Valentine's celebration and were very pleased with our decision. From the welcome by the Maitre d' to the service by our waiter, everything was impeccably explained and provided. The food was excellent and the ambience rather nice. We very much enjoyed our evening together.

We went to The Palm Brasserie for dinner to celebrate the 21st birthday of our grandson. Our waiter's name was Afthab and he was so helpful and well informed about the menus although he said he had not been with you long. He was very patient, and cheerful and understood immediately when I quietly told him it was our grandsons birthday. After our meal your usual surprise birthday cake arrive.

We went for a special family lunch to celebrate my wife's retirement. The service was superb and our server Afthab could not have been more helpful/enthusiastic. We had a mixture of the excellent Valentines Menu (four courses for £45 - great value too) and a la carte which both had a wide variety of choices. The presentation and quality of each dish across five of us we could not fault any of them. We had a thoroughly enjoyable lunch and will definitely be back again.

We went for lunch/afternoon tea with other friends and unfortunately, both the service and the food were way worse than the last time I went (2 years ago). The drinks came late, the food was scarce and super late, and we waited 40 minutes for all plates to be served... The Sunday roast was basically a slice of meat, 3 pieces of roasted potatoes and some sauteed vegetables. The afternoon tea consisted of literally 3 sweet bites and a scone. The chicken tandoori was served semi-cold. It is a shame, it really was a super place with great food.

Beautiful setting. The food and service was fantastic. We had a drink, a starter and a main in 2 hours which was nice between we were not rushed to the next course. Unfortunately no special treat although it was my big birthday. My husband had booked and had mentioned it in his booking but nothing, not even a glass of Prosecco…. Still we enjoyed our dinner. We will come back again for sure.

We went here with a group of friends. It took 2 hours for our starters to arrive. The duck was grisly. The main course took another age to come and wasn’t particularly nice. The apple pudding however was lovely. The restaurant was packed and i think they were just under staffed and had possibly taken on too many bookings. It’s a shame as it looks lovely and has potential to be great. But I’m in no hurry to go back until they can run a more slick operation.

The transformation of this old inn is quite spectacular,my local in the 70.s/80.s,The food was delicious,Excellent service from the waiter and barman.Serving timing was spot on.although they were not very busy.Thanks to all.

I had heard good reviews about this place so I decided to book a table for my daughter and I as a treat. What a disappointment. We waited over 35 minutes to be served despite the brassiere being almost empty. My vegan tofu choice was mediocre at best (it was also lukewarm rather than hot) and my daughter’s duck wraps were mainly fried green peppers-there was barely any duck. We had two soft drinks, mango and elderberry juice - nothing else. Total cost £44.38. As my daughter pointed out we would should have gone for a Domino’s- at least with Domino know what you get. Far too pricey for what we got. Disappointed. Won’t be going back there.

Large Airy and modern looking restaurant, with plenty of space for diners. Immediate and attentive staff. Very interesting menu, regular ingredients with an Asian twist, also offered regular steaks and fish n chips if required. My Cod was perfectly cooked, not easy. The food was clearly freshly prepared, with fresh ingredients, and was delicious from start to finish. To be recommended.

Met a good friend here for afternoon tea as it was half way for us both. What a great choice. Service was very attentive yet not overpowering. The afternoon tea was a great take on a traditional one but with savoury differences rather than sandwiches. Cakes were great (definitely ate too much). Will definitely return. This restaurant near Steventon and Deane in Hampshire is excellent. We had a delicious lunch yesterday with all five of us choosing the salmon. This main course came well presented and the large piece of salmon was delicious I loved the asparagus. Service is impeccable and the spacious restaurant is most attractive. Compliments to the chefs and the waiting staff.

It’s becoming our go-to-spot for celebratory meals. The chefs and their team produce a well curated menu (if you can’t find something on the menu you like, you’re the problem) and execute it to near-perfection (on the assumption that true-perfection doesn’t exist). I had the cote-de-boeuf (rare) and it was cooked flawlessly. The cut was beautiful and whilst in that carnivorous-state, I could have easily been convinced I was in a Smith’s or Goodman’s. Very fortunate to have a local dining spot like this.
