The best restaurants in United Kingdom

Do not leaving negative reviews but the fish and chips I got on the 19th May shortly after 4pm were awful. The 1½ fillets I got were left sitting on top of each other on their flat in the hotbox allowing the grease to run through them. Fish should be left sitting on its side to allow the grease to run off. The fish was not thick cod which you would expect for £9 but more like thin whiting fillets. The batter was overcooked and broke spart like egg shell laving the dry flesh of overcooked fish. The double wrapping was saturated in grease when opened. The chips were soggy with no taste what so ever. Both items where thrown in the bin. Nearly £14 wasted.never again. Take my advice and drive on through to Broughshane street Ballymena were you can get a good sized fillet of golden battered cod for £7.95. Left date and time so maybe it can be viewed on shop camera. Definately has gone down hill.

Food and service were both excellent. The decor is lovely and certainly fits in with the theme of the menu. The Prawn Saganaki is highly recommended. Will definitely be back

Friendly staff and good quality, plentiful food. We ate in the rear courtyard with kites flying above us.

Absolutely love New Pavilion. Can't wait to be able to dine in again with my friends. Actually sent them a Christmas Card saying. Thank You "To the Best Restaurant in Essex". Or words to that effect. The owner is absolutely charming. Great food and the best Fish and Chips. Edited 26th March 2024 Has this restaurant changed hands? I booked a table on line for my friend and myself which I had confirmation that it had been done, then the day before confirmation again that we were still going etc. When we got there the whole place was wrecked and a sign said "closed for refurbishment", We were furious and won't be going there again when it reopens. I can't see the owner, whom we knew really well, all the times we've been before, letting this happen.

Four of us went for dinner tonight and we all loved it. The fish and chips was fantastic, as was the desserts. Thank you. Lovely oldie pub too - long may it continue

We normally go to the other grill house however the family wanted to have a larger table for all which this one does with a large rectangular table that we could all be seated around. This made the experience even better. The food and service was up to the usual high quality and standard. I only got my food photos this time. Steak cooked to perfection, love the way they grill them with the traditional markings you get and Smokey taste as well.

Excellent food, varied menu and the friendliest staff ... what more could you ask for.

Rugby was on so quite loud for a baby shower suppose normally it would be OK.

My daughter and I sat in the igloo with clear windows. Wonderful members of staff recommended this seating area outside on a draughty summers evening so calm inside eating delicious food. Thank you

For all ice cream lovers, different to the normal flavours but absolutely delicious

We stayed here for 3 days on a golfing trip.Fantastic! Staff were amazing, food was lovely, would definitely stay here again! What a lovely little town. We ate dinner in the tavern, was very nice. We also tried the local curry house as recommended by Lorraine behind the bar, fantastic. The third night we tried the local bistro, nice but I preferred the curry house. Opinions though. I would highly recommend this tavern.👍 We were down to play The Glen one of the days but it was closed as it was too wet. Lorraine behind the bar arranged for us to play Archerfield instead. Wow! Really nice. Thanks Lorraine, very nice of you to sort us out.

Un gran pequeño café era bolsas de historia. Gran té, gran café y nunca tuvo algo malo en el menú. El personal es siempre acogedor y muy eficiente, incluso en un servicio ocupado. Admite perros con un ambiente agradable. Podría ayudar a resolver la condensación pero una pequeña queja.

Nice coffee at a good price friendly place good service

Unfortunately this was not a great experience. We were a family of 5 and no tables were readily available to accommodate 5. However there were three tables for two free. When asked if my disabled mother of 88 and myself could wait until a table became free the response was totally unacceptable. Yes you can but we will need to put a chair outside (in the cold) for her to sit and wait. No more needs to be said. Embarrassing poor customer service and a very distressing experience for us all.
