We stayed here for 3 days on a golfing trip.Fantastic! Staff were amazing, food was lovely, would definitely stay here again! What a lovely little town. We ate dinner in the tavern, was very nice. We also tried the local curry house as recommended by Lorraine behind the bar, fantastic. The third night we tried the local bistro, nice but I preferred the curry house. Opinions though. I would highly recommend this tavern.👍 We were down to play The Glen one of the days but it was closed as it was too wet. Lorraine behind the bar arranged for us to play Archerfield instead. Wow! Really nice. Thanks Lorraine, very nice of you to sort us out.

Went to the golf tavern Friday night with my grandson Zack, we booked online for 7.30. On arrival we were shown to our seats got a couple of drinks and checked out the menu.my grandson had chicken goushons to start and a burger and chips for his main meal. I opted opted for the fish and chips, all the portions were large and very tasty and of very good quality. I really loved the dressing on the side salad. Will definitely return.

Ideally located in East Lothian this market town situated beneath the Garleton Hills on the banks of the River Tyne and known as ‘the hidden toun’. Haddington has some impressive architecture such as St Mary's Church, which dates from the 14th century, and is one of the three great pre-reformation churches in the Lothian’s; and the largest parish church in Scotland I got to learn later. On this occasion, we stop for dinner at the Golf Tavern....Wow. ...we had the location sourced steak and ale pie... the best I've had in a long time. The pub atmosphere was friendly, as were the staff. In the fact, they were super helpful, we left our phone charger and they posted it to us...what service...big thank.

A most intriguing one night stay. This was my first visit this wee gem of a Tavern and restaurant, hidden from sight in Haddington (!) Welcoming, friendly staff. My room was very clean and comfortable. A nicely finished shower room. Several bathroom extras - should you be in need ! My evening meal in the warm, traditional pub-style restaurant was excellent. I had the Sizzling Chicken Fajitas. What a superb challenge - high quality food and a generous portion. (There is also an old-style dance floor - but no dancing tonight - too full after dinning !) I had traditional Scottish breakfast - excellent. Nothing more to be said - except that I'll certainly be back. Hamish McSporran.

We booked the golf tavern as we were visiting Scotland for a kids golf competition. As you can imagine after 18 holes of golf we thought the golf tavern would be a great place to dine with our friends. We were very very wrong. We were a party of 12 with 6 of those being teenagers. The menu that we looked at online before arriving was not the one we received on the night we dined. All of the kids ordered pizzas, which 30 minutes after ordering we were told they could not have them as they had ran out. After asking if we could order pizzas in for them they miraculously came back and said that they could now have pizzas. As the only people in the restaurant it took 40 minutes for 6 starters to arrive then another 75 minutes for our mains to arrive. At no point we’re we told there would be a wait on food. When the kids eventually received their pizzas, one of them was inedible, it was so burnt you could have used it as a frisbee! The fish was soggy and looked grey, one of our party asked for mushy peas and received garden peas mashed up. The pie and mash was dry, we got no gravy with it. The gammon was tough and the fried egg was crispy and looked more like scrambled egg. The onion rings could’ve sank the titanic they were that heavy, soggy and stone cold. Needless to say we will NEVER visit this place again and I’d advise everyone to avoid the food like the plague.

Stayed here as part of our coast & castles bike ride. Very welcoming from all the staff in the busy local tavern. Room was a little disappointing with no window and carpet that could possibly need renewing. Stayed for one night, the staff were extremely friendly, breakfast was excellent, compliments to the chef. Our room was lovely, king size bed, the toilet was a little cramped but served its purpose. Only one slight niggle from my husband, there was a Guinness signed pump at the bar but when he asked for a pint he was given a can, he still drank it but not quite the same. We didn't eat in the restaurant but I would recommend The Golf Tavern for a stay, it is worth it for the superb breakfast alone. Thanks to the staff for making our stay so good.

The tariff on the website states rooms for £45, but I was charged £90. The photos of the rooms don't show how small they are, the only place to sit was on the bed. The bathroom was tiny, with the toilet right up against the radiator. There weren't enough staff so we got no help. The food was cheap and nasty. You can't relax in the bar because the locals are too rowdy, again there is nowhere to sit because they have their favourite spots.

Chosen because two (particularly one) of the men were very plain eaters. Firstly we did get a bit lost on entry and ended up heading to the bedrooms. Our service was shared by a young man and a mature lady who were excellent. The 3 starters seemed to go well particularly the one who had the soup. I don't have a great appetite and was looking forward to the roast beef dinner so had just a roll and butter, too hot to handle and over microwaved! My beef was overcooked, so that and half of another's steak pie was kindly "doggie bagged" and it was well appreciated by dog lover companion's pooches. The "plain eater" had fish and chips and although he didn't say anything, he only ate about half of the serving. Apart from a lot of noise from a particularly busy bar we enjoyed our visit and were reminded of our visits to our local pubs in our younger days. Be prepared to run the "fag reek" gauntlet on entry and exit.

We were three generations of a family looking for dinner. We chose this pub merely because we were nearby after visiting the Museum of Flight and the reviews were good. We were expecting basic food quality but were pleasantly surprised by the good quality, especially the tender, tasty meat in the steak pie. You can get different size portions to suit different appetites, which is helpful. The full-size portion of the fish and chips was massive! Everyone was happy with their meal. The waitress was attentive and extremely understanding of children and one family member with dementia. Much appreciated. Would return if we were ever in the area again.

I stayed here for a couple of nights. It was difficult to find even with the satnav but once located it was easy to find again. No parking as such, just 'on street' parking - never had a problem parking. The staff were excellent, friendly and really couldn't do enough for you. The room was clean, tidy and well appointed although the wi-fi didn't work in the room, just in the public areas. Could have done with the wi-fi in the room to allow me to work in the evenings. I enjoyed the breakfast, all sorts of breakfast goodies on offer. The bar has a good selections of beers, etc. The locals are very friendly and chatty, even though some of them have such a strong accent that theyare difficult to understand!! He was honest enough to say there were a couple bits of reburshment that was needed and was trying to find time to complete. However, nothing was too much trouble. He arranged taxis as requested for us and his cooked breakfast was the best we had over the 9 days we were in Scotland where we stayed at a number of establishments and his was the best. The staff were very friendly and attentive. Breakfast was included and was ordered the night before and cooked fresh. Continental and cooked was available. We stayed at the charming Golf Tavern for 4 nights and loved it. It is tucked away in a quiet corner of Haddington near the pedestrian Nungate Bridge which straddles the Tyne river. Over the bridge is the beautiful church of St Mary's , the longest Parish church in Scotland. It is more like a cathedral !! Over the bridge too is a quick walk into the little town centre where you will find interesting buildings, plenty of little shops & equally plenty of buses to the coast or into Edinburgh. We used them with no hassle. The tavern was great, we had a very nice room with en suite shower. Everything was spotless. The staff & owner were lovely, cheerful & welcoming and helpful. There is a restaurant on site plus a bar. The Food was excellent.Breakfast was very varied from fish to Haggis to eggs & yogurts and much more. We ate there in the evenings too, The food was just too good to even bother going elsewhere. The Steak and Ale pie is a must & the Macaroni was the best. One dessert I will never forget it was so good, the Toffee Lumpy Bumpy ! Haddington is a lovely little town & the Golf Taverns adds to that loveliness. Thoroughly recommend it.

Recently stayed for 2 nights, greeted with warmth by John and Lynn, both very friendly and helpful. Room was lovely and Clean with a nice en-suite with lovely toiletries. It was on the ground floor, which had the advantage of not having to traipse your bags upstairs. However the room had a couple of drawbacks, it was right near the main door, used by smokers and the room did get the smell of fags wafting into it, and also we had some other guests turn up at the door at 1.45 am after lock up, and battered on the outer door and shouted aggressively, for 10 minutes or more until they were let in, waking us up. The room had no windows, just a skylight, making it claustrophobic and hot and viewless. Breakfast was very good and Ample.

When some of us went through to the bar area to play a game of pool, we were confronted by a man from outside having a cigarette to shout at us "your name isn't on the board" and he slammed the door in our faces. We then walked away having paid our round and began our game as we felt so uncomfortable as everyone then stared at us.Very disappointed with this as the experience had been great apart from this, we aren't locals and didn't know the rules so could've been cut some slack and just told about the rules in a polite manner. That did not happen. Won't be back because of this, never want to see that man again, very aggressive. If you are looking for a friendly local, do not go here!

We are a party of four couples who meet up monthly to explore the culinary delights of East Lothian. And there are many! This was our first visit to the Golf Tavern but it won’t be our last. The staff were friendly and helpful. The food was delicious, very well cooked and certainly plentiful. Our visit coincided with an international rugby weekend and there were some boisterous Welsh supporters in the bar. The staff were concerned that our table in the dining room was too close to the bar, that the noise would upset us and asked us if we would like to change tables. As it happened, it was not a problem and we stayed where we were. But it was nice to know that they were concerned that it might spoil our meal.We consider ourselves ‘experts’ in the fish and chip department, having tried this dish in most restaurants throughout the county. This was (is) the best by far. Large haddock portions and wonderful crispy but light batter. Five stars for this alone! (If you daren’t tackle the standard portion size, there is a smaller alternative.)Overall, we were extremely pleased with our visit and would wholeheartedly recommend the place.

We had the card machine basically thrown at us. Shona i think her name was. Poor show , will never be back and that's a shame as food was lovely and the other staff where very polite and helpful. Manners cost nothing! Please. Please. Ps it would have been 5 stars if it wasn't for her attitude.

20 of us booked here for Christmas lunch. The food was excellent, piping hot and very substantial portion. The staff were very nice too. After our lunch we went through to the bar and the guys played darts and pool. Good value for money.

Lovely pub and good pub grub. Portions are extremely big so unless you can eat a whale go for the smaller portions

Me and my family stayed here after a 60th birthday party and had a lovely time. The room was nicely decorated and cosy and the bed was massive. Nice toiletries in the en-suite. The breakfast was freshly cooked to order and lots of toast. The proprietor was very attentive and helpful. Well worth a visit if touring East Lothian.

Visited recently with family (inv. 2 young boys) for dinner.Food was very tasty - and absolutely HUGE portions. I eat a LOT and was slightly over-faced.I opted for steak pie which came with a mountain of chips.Pie was tasty and my wife's food (fish) was also good.Kids enjoyed their food too (although I can't recall what they ordered).Recommended - and there is an option for half portions incase you are not utterly ravenous when you visit. We will return.

We stopped off here from Stonehaven instead of the usual service station McDonalds and were so glad that we did- food portions were enormous and very tasty! Great pub grub- come hungry if you are sticking with the large portions - they do offer a reduced portion of most meals for a reduced price! Highly recommend! Also gave us a massive hand full of Fox mints for the rest of the journey!

The Golf Tavern in Haddington in beautiful on the outside and a real gem on the inside. We received a very friendly welcome, especially appreciated by my elderly mother. An impressive menu offered smaller portions and even smaller portions - ideal for a smaller appetite! Our delicious choices were pizza, macaroni cheese and steak & ale pie served with freshly made chips. Great value for money.

Nice dinner. Both starter and main course are really good portions. Only complaint was that the curry was exceptionally salty. Apart from that it was perfect.

Heerlijke overnachting in The Golf Tavern. Uitstekende kamer, leuke pub ( laat je niet afschrikken door het enigszins verouderde interieur), goed eten maar bovenal super aardig personeel en eigenaars!

Another wonderful weekend with wonderful food and helpful staff ( more like friends than staff ) the food is always top notch and the atmosphere is pleasant. ...... the hotel inspector bless her would have nothing to do if she ever visited ... definitely worth a visit and with plenty to do around the surrounding areas and a regular bus service in the centre of Haddington you can't get any better than this

We ate here whilst on holiday. Was nearly put off by the pubby exterior and as to whether it would be child friendly but glad we ventured inside. Nice quiet restaurant at the back. Great pub grub with good size portions. Good service too. Highly recommend.

limited parking spaces but not too much of a problem. this pub has a cosy feel to it but could do with a bit of a tune up. Brenda behind the bar was a little gem.very friendly as was shona who showed us to our rooms. my room was quite big with a lovely up to date en-suite. the bed was fine but the room smelled a little bit stale. the menu was pretty average but the food was fine. breakfast was smashing. overall, the pub was ok, as were the very friendly locals. my friends and I will probably stop there again.

We had a delightful lunch at East Coast Musselburgh today, choosing from their set menu. The restaurant is clean, contemporary, and tastefully decorated, which created a welcoming atmosphere. We both started with the mussels in a spicy tomato sauce that also served as a flavorful broth. The sauce had the perfect balance of heat and richness, complementing the fresh mussels. For mains, I opted for the Spaghetti Harbour, which was generously portioned and packed with clams and mussels. The seafood was cooked perfectly, and the dish was hearty yet refined. My wife had the King Prawn Calamari, which was served with a light, perfectly cooked batter, accompanied by crispy skinny fries, a fresh salad, and tartare sauce. She loved the combination of flavors and textures. We washed everything down with a refreshing Leith draught beer, which rounded off our meal perfectly. The service was attentive without being overbearing, and we felt well taken care of throughout our visit. The facilities were well-maintained, including spotless toilets, which is always a good sign. Overall, the meal was excellent value for money, and we left feeling satisfied and eager to return. I highly recommend East Coast for anyone looking for fresh seafood and a great dining experience in Musselburgh.

Went here today for a birthday meal What a total and utter disappointment the quality of the food was very poor. I would have rated it no stars but had to give at least one to continue with the review. The meal I ordered was billed as a triple steak burger, OMG it was awful, when it was served to me the burger was bone dry and very small, over cooked and totally tasteless. There was no burger sauce, (what we were offered was a bottle of ketchup and seriously watered down mayo) there was no onion or cheese only a little piece of stale lettuce and one slice of very thin tomato in the very dry bun. It was listed as being served with rustic chips but I actual found they were nothing more than a handful of frozen skinny fries from a bag. I was charged almost £17 for this which is an absolute disgrace. I've had far better any tastier burgers from McDonald's for a third of the price. My partner had what was billed as peppered chicken which was very poor, served in a skillet which was no deeper than a saucer and it was served without rice which was listed on the menu. The manager came over before it was served and gave her a spoon and we were wondering why you would need a spoon to eat the meal! Then It became apparent when it was served, hardly any chicken and a few bits of pepper and onion and was swimming in some kind of peppered sauce, hence the spoon. This was also priced around £16/17, again ridiculously over priced for what was actually offered. We checked out the menu online before booking a table but when we arrived we were given a totally different menu from what was online. Then to top it all we paid cash and after some time we had to ask for our change from the bill (over £5). When the ki Manager came over he then said "folk normally say just to keep the change " we were Shocked and utterly embarrassed by this comment. What an absolute rip off this place is and we certainly won't be back .

Excellent service. Ordered 2 chicken mystique baguettes with salad and they were ready for me to pick up. Delicious. We order this every time we meet for coffee.
