We stopped for lunch and had a really good meal. Friendly and fast service. Very good food and really low price.

Fantastic place. We all had a brilliant day there. The staff were so friendly and efficient. The food was great. Going back there again soon.

Wir waren hier, nachdem wir in einem anderen Lokal mit unserem Hund nicht rein durften. Hier waren wir mit Hund herzlich willkommen, sie bekam auch Wasser und konnte selig unterm Tisch schlummern. Die Einrichtung ist vielleicht etwas in die Jahre gekommen, aber das Personal war super freundlich, das Essen ausgesprochen gut und auch Preis Leistungs Verhältnis stimmte.

Came in for lunch today there was a set menu nothing for children/ picky eater when waiter took order very rude and grabbed the menu harshly out my mums hand as she was asking a question been here a few times and has been amazing but not impressed at all today Poor service

Excellent food and service, very friendly staff, food freshly made, only reason dropped 1 star is because online prices don’t reflect current pricing and some items were not on the current menu. We ordered fish and chips, good sized portions, steak and ale pie, pastry was to die for, just melted in the mouth, tender meat, maybe could offer the option of extra gravy ( personal opinion) chicken gyros, again plentiful portion and tasty. Went at 7pm so fairly empty but signs of live music later on. Would definitely recommend and would visit again next time we are up here from Leicestershire.

Popped in for a late light lunch. Ate too much delicious food that I was still full in the evening.

We were hurrying on a road trip up north and spotted this pub on Google maps. Safe to say we were not disappointed! When we arrived at 5 it was quiet, but the lady who served us was really welcoming and put our minds at ease. A few minutes later it started to fill up, so it's clearly popular with the locals. The food was absolutely delicious! Great sized portions and arrived in good time. We had the steak & ale pie and the chicken gyros. The pie was definitely home made, with perfect puff pastry and a generous amount of meat & gravy. But the gyros was at a level that surpassed all else! Instead of the classic wrap, it was deconstructed and kept on the skewers. The garlic mayonnaise and the herb flatbread were delicious. Couldn't recommend it more, we will definitely be stopping by again if we are in the area.

Steak Pie is amazing! Fish are massive. Burgers a little overdone but still good.

After the Glinkinchie distillery my friends and I stopped here and we loved it so much! True pub feel but the food was spectacular. Don't be fooled by the outside. Walk around to the back and sit down in this music themed restaurant and be blown away. The food is hearty portions so I promise you won't leave hungry. Also, the chicken pakora was amazing!

Booked in plenty weeks advance for a 30th... was asked to male choices for food and send a week early... all guests chose a starter and a main, however only 4 received starter, and the service was scattered with this as well one was received amd then 10 mins later another 2 and so on, on arrival of my main course I alerted the staff member that some were still waiting on starters to be told "oh right well, sorry" and have my main placed infront of me as if I had no choice but to just settle for that. When paying the service again from the staff was poor. Won't be back for food.

We are regulars to The Brig but this visit was sadly a disappointment. The main course was served reasonably quickly. No Sunday roast lamb left at 5.00 pm and more red peppers in the Thai Curry than chicken and far too bland. We then ordered our sweets. We waited 45 minutes still not been served asked twice kept being told it was coming and we gave up and left. They were far too busy dealing with groups that had arrived downstairs. So service poor guys you overbooked and couldn’t cope.

Last time I was in this var was 1973 when Ross High Rugby club used it for aftermath drinks and food. Still first class.

Undercooked veg, mean helping of prawns in the cocktail, forgot to include spuds, cold gravy !!

Fabulous place in Tranent, worth travelling to, from Edinburgh. Fresh, delicious, home made food, excellent quality and affordable prices. Lovely and friendly staff. Highly recommended!

Never been before despite passing it every day for work, it was really nice food and very cheap drink compared to town prices, hardly spent any money and got a couple rounds of drinks and 2 course meal (had the rump steak it was cooked a wee bit more medium than rare but was still delicious). Went here for the start of my Christmas work night out and had a ball would definitely come back

Enjoyed a lovely meal as party of 11.. been on more than one occasion and always had lovely food and service.. one of out party said her food wasn't that hot on this occasion hence the 4 star. (She should have told them but didn't.)

We came here for something to eat after taking our granddaughter to her Rainbows meeting as usual. We hadn't booked a table, but were able to get in, which was fantastic. Therer was an outside metal staircase to climb as well as a few internal stairs, so it could cause difficultes with someone who has mobility issues, although I did notice a downstairs restaurant, which was not open at that time. My husband chose the mushroom soup of the day and I chose haggis filo parcels with a whisky sauce to start with. I personally found the sauce a bit thick as it didn't pour very easily. Nonetheless, both starters were cleared from our plates. We both chose the beef and mushroom stroganoff with sautéed potatoes and topped with crispy onions. The stroganoff was sitting on top of the potatoes, and the sauce was absorbed into them. However, I wish the crispy onions had been more crispy to add more texture to the dish. My husband had a large glass of red wine and I drank hot water, which I had asked for. The surroundings were lovely and staff attentive, but as the restaurant got busy, the noise increased a bit, which after a long day at work is not always the best for me personally to cope with. All in all, I would really recommend this restaurant and we will definitely visit again. After all, there are many more dishes on the menu to try!

Arrived without booking as passing through no problem. Some areas in need of TLC, but service and food excellent great value.

Enjoyed our meal only downside was football on TV and it was very noisy.

1st time in the brig for lunch & can really say that the meals are absolutely 💯 perfect and tasty you can't go wrong with a meal in the brig, server/barmaid took my daughters 4 month baby while she had her starter which was really appreciate staff are great nice pint as well definitely will be going back very soon thanks guys

I had a great meal with my friends. The food was very good, staff were friendly and helpful. The place was clean and well maintained. Also, there is a lovely outdoor terrace to enjoy drinks outside. Overall, a nice place to have a meal with friends or family.

The place were really good. Very friendly and helpfull staff, lovely live music and a fantastic food. We were a big group and everything went very well, we enjoyed a lot. They also have private parking, I would recommend 100%.

Great food at a reasonable price.

Amazing food. Popped in for a nice Sunday lunch after reading reviews on Tripadvisor and I was not disappointed. Started with a portion of Pate that was certainly homemade and incredibly tasty! Followed by a Sunday Roast Beef while my partner had a burger. Both were sensational, with my beef being melt in your mouth tender and incredibly flavourful. I’d 100% recommend and if I’m back in the area, I’m definitely popping back in.

Really enjoyed our visit to the Brigg Inn Tranent the food and service was excellent, accompanied with live music. The guitarist singer made the atmosphere of the night with the 3 course dinner even more enjoyable. We be back again for another weekend visit.

Just been in there for the tea the soup of the day was great for me it was a 5 stars for the main I had the stake and I had enjoyed every little bit of it another 5 starts from me.

Bar is is only open around the weekend. Not great when you've cycled 9 miles to be here.

Beautiful 3 course meal, every course delicious and great presentation. The staff as always very efficient and attentive. Live music added to a night that the staff made special. 3 courser plus a glass of wine £25 a head what’s not to like. That’s why we keep going back. Never had any complaints about the food. Thanks guys.

The meal was excellent. 6 adults and 2 kids.only downfall was the %10 surcharge. £13 50p that was added to the bill. Didn't see the small print on the bottom of menu.till I got home.8 and over surcharge. And I left a £ 5 tip.one kid getting left in the house next visit.

I was in here on Saturday 11th December for a meal and a few drinks. Food was really good, great price for 3 courses. Staff were great. I'll need to pop by again for a lunch 👍👍👍 . In tonight 13th Jan, Steak night , Sirloin tonight, not my choice, but a really good charcoaled cut of meat, easy to cut, very thick., 10 Oz 😱,. Nice bottle of wine. Service really good. Not a dessert man by any means but the sugary sweet sticky toffee pudding was s treat😁👍. Well worth a visit, Chef definitely knows his stuff and staff really friendly.

Although the ambiance could be better the food is pretty good better than most pub grub, just what you want. It is the sort of establishment that you would go back.

Food was okay service was slow and not very friendly..felt I was an inconvenience for being there at such a busy time. Very reasonable price but eating out in such times we are in at the moment no matter where it is, or how much it costs is a luxury to many people therefore customer service is everything no matter what
