Called at Wolds Café on our way to York and so glad we did. I had the full Yorkshire breakfast and what a good hearty meal it was too. I even ate the tomato (which I normally leave) to leave a squeaky clean plate. My less hungry wife opted for the homemade scone with jam & clotted cream. Will definitely be calling again.

How could I resist the full Yorkshire breakfast? It had everything I could want in eggs, sausage, bacon, mushrooms, black pud, tom, toast, beans; not just a super portion but cooked perfectly; washed down with Yorkshire tea. That was at 9am, its now 7pm and Im still not hungry. Cant wait to return.

We had a nice lunch in here. The food was all nicely presented and fresh. My omelette was nice, the missus enjoyed her club sandwich (I'm not sure "too much filling" is a valid complaint). The bairn enjoyed her baked potato without complaint (a rare occurrence). A wee bit cramped and the carpet on the stairs up to the loo looks totally manky (but the toilets themselves are nice and clean) otherwise it would have been a 5

We called in on Wednesday for lunch and was seated straight away. Ordered sandwiches, coffee and tea. All was very tasty but the one thing that stood out for me, was the paper menu, which was tattered and well “fingered” Surely in the current situation you would have thought that the paper menu could and should have been laminated. We are still using our own hand sanitizer our selves but did not see any offered or was any available to use.

No manners and definitely no service with a smile. We ordered a coffee and tea and a young girl brought this over slammed it down on the table and didn’t even look at us. We recently visited Pocklington and ate here twice. We were so pleased we did. If you are visiting the area you must not miss an opportunity to eat here. The eating area is bright and well laid out, with the tables not too close to each other. There is a toilet at the top of a carpeted stairway at the back. The tempting cakes are displayed at the counter as you come in, and a waitress approached us straight away to offer us a table and menus. The service was very pleasant, courteous and fast. Staff are obviously trained well. Nothing was too much trouble. They all had bright sunny smiles and were so welcoming. We visited twice, and had a cream tea the first time, and the second time, I had Veggie Muffin (to die for) and my partner had Eggs Benedict , which he said was the best he had ever had. I cannot praise the quality of the food enough, or the waitresses. I just wish we had time to have visited this place more. The experience at this cafe has been imprinted on my memory. Exemplary service with a smile. Our breakfast day was Sunday 2nd June if you want to check your duty rota, but I am sure all staff are equally wonderful. Today I purchased 6 cheese straws from Cooplands in Driffield. These cheese straws were then carried home safely in amongst the rest of my shopping from various other shops this morning. When it came time for my sister to eat these cheese straws, she put 3 on her plate. She ate two of the 3 with no problem and then when she got to the third cheese straw she took two bites and let out a very loud “OW!” as she had bitten into something hard whilst chewing her cheese straw. She proceeded to spit out the mouthful of cheese straw she was chewing and looking at the mouthful on her plate to see if there was anything there. She gasped and said “Oh my god thats a stone” I said “don't be ridiculous theres no way” and then she picked it out of the chewed up mouthful of cheese straw and held out her hand and said “look A STONE” I couldn't believe my eyes , she was right it was a stone which she had bitten into whilst trying to enjoy her last cheese straw. Me and my sister, Jess, are appalled, horrified and disgusted that this has slipped past the quality checks. This stone could have seriously injured her teeth so thank god she realised and spat it out. This unfortunately puts an end to us purchasing baked goods at our local Cooplands. My sister is to quote her words “too traumatised to eat anything from Cooplands again”. I hope this gets picked up and reflected on and that it doesn’t happen to any other Cooplands customers. Many thanks.
