Sarah’s Yard in Trafford

Ate here last Friday. What a lovely little hidden gem. Great cocktails, tapas and wine. Service was excellent. Very warm and cozy. Felt like being transported out of Urmston as if by magic.

Food awful very dry and tasteless. A microwave is used to heat the food.. very disappointing avoid avoid avoid people.. plus the so called chef is awful..

DO NOT EAT HERE Staff are extremely rude, the manager does not care about their customers and seems like she doesn’t want to be there at all. In addition to this the food was inedible and me and my partner were unable to finish any plate we received. The first three dishes we tried to order were “out of stock” so we had to settle for overpriced chicken that was undercooked. Again… I cannot stress how rude and undermining the owners/managers were.

Me and my partner went for a nice dinner at night. Upon arriving we were greeted by a rude manager who seemed disinterested with everything related to the restaurant - including the customers. The first 3 dishes we tried to order were “out of stock” until we finally found a dish that they had. The chicken kebabs had no taste, were unseasoned and undercooked. We were unable to finish any plate that we received. This is the only establishment where I have not left a tip as i cannot describe how rude the owners and mangers were to us. I’ve never felt so disrespected and undermined in my life.

Loved this place and everything about it

We've been a four times now, and this gem of a place consistently delivers a very high standard of food, along with an amazing atmosphere. Lovely staff who are friendly, it's a little hidaway but well worth seeking out! Great deli as well.

What a little gem of a place. First time me & my friends have been. Slight miscommunication about how many of us were eating, but they soon sorted us out a table, so it wasn’t an issue. The atmosphere in this place is magical, the food was delicious & the staff are so warm & welcoming. Definitely going to revisit & very soon. What an amazing night celebrating with my family for my daughter’s 30th. Right from the planning stage Sarah was there with her super team ready for the surprise and wow what a surprise there was tears and laughter. The food was fabulous everyone kept questioning how they have never heard of Sarah’s Yard this really is worth a visit and a perfect place to celebrate a special occasion. We preordered our food so on the night everyone was ready to relax and enjoy. Thank you to Sarah’s Yard for making a very special birthday even more memorable.

Wow! What a venue! My family and friends arranged a surprise party for my 30th. It was an amazing night! Sarah and staff were so welcoming! The restaurant was absolutely beautiful and the food was to die for! A perfect venue to meet with family and friends! The prices are really reasonable for the quality of food and service! This is a true hidden gem!

It was our 1st visit to Sarah yard last night and it won’t be are last. What a lovely little place just off church road. The food was lovely we had 4 dishes and a bread basket all delicious 😋 The lady that took are order was very polite and chatty made us feel very Welcome and that goes a long way. Thank you sally 😀 The music in the background was lovely we really thought we were still on Hoilday. I would definitely recommend. There’s a little shop in Sarah yard that sell jars of Piccadilly not sure what else. And the little toilet what a fab idea it a shed but it’s has everything you need in there from body lotion to deodorant if you need to freshen up to toilet wipes. . Looking forward to trying more dishes thank you

Hi, I just had first visit on 28th July with two other people at 7.30pm on arrival shown to our table which we booked great menu of tapas some of the best I've tasted in a long time great service real quirky place felt I was abroad good variety of beers and wine.end of night Sara ame to see us and asked if we enjoyed our first time,she loved the comments which we said to her please give it a try you will not be disappointed Peter

last thursday i phoned to book a table for 3 at 1.45pm today for my 70th birthday. we arrived at 1.46 because of road works in the area. a nice young lad was told to tell us that they thought we were not turning up so kitchen had closed. i spoke to the manager basically being told she didnt no who took the booking but they didnt serve food at this time. an apology for the mix up would have been nice. be warned to ask the right question when booking as obviously i didnt !!! shame we wont b going there again as believe food is good. customer service check is needed i think !

wasnt going to write a review but having booked in for my grandma's 88th birthday and to be told to go elsewhere if we wanted to be accomedated when we were sat at the table i can't not!! Such a shame as it did seem like it could be a bice little venue! Our waitress was helpfull enough, it seemed to be the management/ chef that wasnt, (which i assume was sarah) Even my grandma at 88 picked up on how we weren't really welcome there, It was an extremely awkward experience. We were recommended this place by family member whos a local who said it was nice! I've since told told family they need to try other places as if this is how they're treated then there's a whole new world out there. We arrived to being the only ones there and immediately felt an awkward presence like we shouldnt of been there! (Excluding one young girl with blond hair who was extremely apologetic to the lack of service they could offer) if it wasnt for her we would of left!! We immediately felt like we shouldn't of been there although we were booked in. We had already had a text to say that a new girl had booked us in and they couldn't accommodate us at 10.30 so to come at 11. We turned up at 11 and were given a drinks menu. We asked for a food menu and were told we don't really offer breakfast!! Were shocked as we booked in for breakfast. My mum had come from Liverpool and myself from Bury to take my grandma out for her Birthday! We asked for a few simple breakfast items eggs, bagles etc to be told to go down the road to another place if we wanted them!! I understand mistakes happen if they have booked us in too early but I'm sure they could if accomedated us for a little more. I would like to try for tapas but being so far away and the experience we've had I don't think it's worth the travel for us. Such a shame I think the chefs attitude could of been a little bit better and more accomedated.

Lovely lunch tapas style menu but did find wine overpriced. This is not a restaurant and as wine drinkers are happy to pay appropriately for the type of surroundings and wine. Would certainly come again but not pay £ 22 for sitting in a backyard forva bottle of wine. The lady that served us was friendly and lovely to talk to .

Lovely food and service. The food was delicious and there was a nice relaxed atmosphere. Our dog was also welcomed. It is also very reasonably priced. We would highly recommend and definitely be returning.

Went to Sarah’s Yard on Friday for tapas and would 100% recommend! As someone with Coeliac Disease, it's often daunting going to new places, especially 'smaller' places, however, most of the menu either is naturally free from gluten, or can be made gluten free! I couldn't believe how much choice I had 😍. Sarah is very knowledgeable and has a friend who has Coeliac so uses her when creating ideas. The food was amazing, the service and the price were all second to none and we will definitely be going back.

Food was good. Ordered our food all in one go. Food didn't come out all in one go. Besides that food was lovely. Place very small. The bathroom was in a shed, was very clean and equipped with everything (hand-wash, towel).

A casual lunch for a catch up with friends. Tiny bistro with garden furniture but the relaxed atmosphere and friendly service make up for the limitations of a restaurant in a backyard. The mezze/tapas style small plates menu is authentic and delicious. Order a selection to share.

Myself and 3 other Urmston mums came for lunch yesterday. All the food was delicious, I had a club sandwich and it was the best I've ever had. The food is always great and we all looked forward to our lunch date, as mum's we rarely get any child free time and this date booked in the diary for weeks, so it was very upsetting when we complained about 1 of the Tapas dishes not turning up, a Greek salad and a mix up with the drinks. Instead of treating us as valued customers, when we brought this up your attention, you took no responsibility for the mix up and forgotten salad, insulted us and ruined a lovely lunch. It saddens me as I loved your cafe.

When independent businesses in Urmston deserve a positive review, it’s deserved. 2to3 weeks ago we had to cancel a reserved table a Sarah’s Yard last minute & they were very understand. Tonight we rectified our cancellation by visiting the same venue & we’re not disappointed...

Visited Sarah's Yard this evening - Food was honestly incredible. We had a lovely Greek meze, so tasty as often they can be bland when ordered elsewhere. Sally was the main person who we spoke to, she was so lovely and personable. We will definitely return and have already recommended to our friends.

Lovely little part indoor, part outdoor tapas dining experience. We eat quite a bit of Tapas and I would say the Aranccini was the best I have ever had. Staff were wonderful and I think it has the best toilet in Urmston! Only open for dinner Friday and Saturday (lunch every day) so book in advance, We'll worth it.

Astonishingly great food! Home made with well chosen ingredients to create a varied and flavoursome menu. Inviting courtyard setting with a super friendly ambiance. Also has well stocked artisan deli. Just perfect.

My friend and I were really looking forward to our lunch visit after seeing all the great reviews. How we changed our minds from the minute we arrived. 1. Have you booked with no welcoming smile 2. We got seated, no menus given but asked straight away ‘what do you want to drink’ we hadn’t even had chance to look at the drinks menu, no please or thank you 3. When giving our order to the waitress ( if that’s what you want to call her) we were greeted with a miserable face, every time we chose something from the menu ‘ no haven’t got’ no apology came with each reply. This was at 12.45 so not late into the afternoon 🙈🤔 4. The platters were abruptly put onto our table and the so called waitress walked away. No enjoy!! Or any other pleasantries offered. 5. No cutlery given and I had to go and ask for napkins, their reply ‘ they should be on the table’ I wouldn’t be asking if they were on the table!! We decided not to stay for coffee and desert. When paying the bill the pleasantries began… everything okay? That’s a nice top, sorry I’ve neglected you but we have been busy!! No excuse if your busy or not, Rudeness is a no no!! We certainly won’t be dining with you again. And to think I was going to bring a few friends on our next lunch outing, I will be choosing another venue. A positive note the food we did end up getting was okay, apart from the wilting rocket leaves on the platter.

This is a backyard place, literally been made good for a sideline business venture during Covid. A great idea but I would suggest stepping it up a bit to make a more Service based business as it seems to be a bit lacking in Service and not so customer focused. It's a great idea and I hope to see it develop into a more Boutique place rather than a second thought place. It lacks some refinery and knowledge about its aim and could be a great venture and hideaway if its tuned more to its ideal. Tapas is always great but requires some special touches to make it a more personal get-away venue. The prices indicate its a special place but we didnt feel this on our visit. I wish this venue a great future and some refinement. We are from this service background, and know its long term requirements 🙏

We've been to Sarah's Yard before to buy things from the shop but hadn't eaten there before. It's located just off Church Road at the back of a hardware shop, and once you step through the gate it's a lovely little enclosed space, a canopy shielding customers from the elements, gravel underfoot, and quirky decorations. The brunch menu had a good variety of items, well priced, and we enjoyed everything we had. We also looked at what other people were having and everything looked delicious. There's also an evening tapas menu which we're keen to try. A real hidden gem of a place, and we'll definitely return.

Setting was very nice, service was fine but food wasn't great though. Garlic bread overly garlicky, croquettes bland and the choc brownie recipe needs looking at, was solid and cold. Was more like a set ganache.

Cosy little setting with nice ambient feel. The food was ok, garlic bread was far too garlicky and I love garlic but it just wasn’t a nice taste. The few other dishes were ok. I would probably return again to try it even just for coffee & cake in the evening as it’s nice with the lights on outdoors, lovely Mediterranean holiday vibe.

I only had a lovely coffee after finding this lovely little place behind a hardware store. Not had a meal here, but, will be soon. Oh, it's Mediterranean Tapas. It is also a shop to buy olive oil, pastas, jams, sauces and whatever.

I had a great meal with my wife, but sadly we could smell the cigarettes the SELFISH woman on a nearby table kept on smoking, with no consideration for every other diner. I haven't got a problem with smokers, if they want to smoke, think of others and move WELL AWAY from people who just want to have a meal and a drink. I can't believe a person can't go 2 hours without smoking, instead we all had to put up with the awful smell of a couple cigarettes in that time.

Served good fresh food menu looks good also nice artisan shop a good novel addition to the every growing Urmston food scene

This is an hidden gem in Urmston, the food is excellent as well has the service has a personal feel to it. I would highly recommend it to all since this as a USP (unique selling point) which you may not find elsewhere in the vicinity.
