By far the best restaurant in Altrincham. We absolutely love it/it’s our ‘go to’. The menu is perfect - just a few options, done to the highest standard. Great atmosphere, great service, great food. Keep up the good work, guys!!!!

Food was good though took quite a while to arrive. But no flexibility on the menu items which is slightly odd for freshly cooked food. Difficult if you have food allergies. Staff not particularly interested once they had your order. Cashless restaurant. 10% service charge automatically added to the bill. No interest in returning to this restaurant.

All they seem interested in is getting u in and out as fast as possible limiting you table time to 90 minutes I told them twice I had not finished Paid 42 pounds for a bottle of wine very nice and the food was good but as a dining experience not a pleasure . Very rich food as very and you need to let it digest not hurried out the door .

We appreciate good authentic food and can distinguish quality dishes, having lived in Italy and travelled the entire country. Sugo’s food is very good (buono!) We love it! Disappointed the menu has changed. We were expecting a nice full plate of our favourite pasta, but was presented with a tapas style approach, with smaller portions, encouraging the dinner to go with their recommendation of three plates! This of course generates more profit for the owner, but in my opinion the traditional way of dinning and having a correct plate size of food has been taken away. It is Italian food not Spanish, with this tapas approach. I paid £16.00 for the fish based pasta, wonderful, but half the size of what you would get 2 months ago. £32.00 (thereabouts) to get a good size plate of this fish based pasta dish (£16.00x2) That is a ridiculous price, coupled with sitting on a bench outside! Sugo’s food is very good , but they should not over price their food through a new approach which does not work, we are not tasting Spanish small dishes we have come to enjoy a normal size plate of good food! They will lose customers!

We are big fans of Sud and were excited/bit nervous to try the new menu last night! Absolutely loved it! Really enjoyed being able to try all the starters which were delicious, followed by our favourite pasta dishes and still had room for desert! Lovely staff and great service as always. Highly recommended!

We have been going to Sud around once every couple of weeks for years and it has been an absolute favourite of ours they have an awesome FOH team too. Whilst the food is still excellent the new concept of small plates pasta dishes seems confused. Understandably they needed to raise there spend per head as it’s a business that is growing with a new site just opened up in Manchester. However personally I would have rather just paid more for the same hearty comforting food they were so well respected for. The dishes have decreased by 1/3rd in size which is slightly annoying as if it was 1/2 I would have just doubled up on everything to get the usual order. A real shame that a restaurant that is such an integral part of the neighbourhood has made this decision. Unfortunately until they return to a format similar to what they had pre small plates I don’t think we will be visiting any time soon.

10/10. Total quality food and flavours. Our second visit this weekend and as tasty as the first time. Also our baby ate for free on the Sunday deal which is a great offer to see. We came last minute without a booking and it was very busy but they kindly fit us in at a table outside which was lovely as it was a warm evening. The food was absolutely beautiful, an absolute hug in a bowl and even the olives were flavoured beautifully. Well worth the hype I've heard. I'm sorry but I didn't catch the name of the gentleman who we met first and advised us to come back in half an hour but he was lovely and friendly, and Lola and Beatrice were with us for the rest of the meal who were both so welcoming and kind. Lola in particular was our main host and helped us to choose a wine and complementary sides. Couldn't have asked for a nice meal and people for my best friend's birthday meal. Thank you!

Normally I’m not too enthusiastic about going to an Italian restaurant. It’s not that I don’t like Italian food, it’s just generally exactly the same. Italian is Italian is Italian….. SUD pasta however is different. Next to Altrincham market, quite a small place so make sure you book - and expect to be sat at a table with strangers! The tables here are all shared. The food…..wow! Hands down some of the best pasta dishes ever. I had the pasta with a very slow cooked beef ragu. Id happily eat that every day. Not the cheapest place but well worth it.

We’ve been a few times to SUD/ SUGO. I think last time was the least favourite in terms of food. Couple of pointers - - bring back the chicken wings they’re increíble. The pork ribs are nowhere near as good - hopefully this is only temporary - No need to add lemon zest on to the olives, quite a weird flavour. The olives themselves were rock solid. Not sure if they were fresh enough. I would recommend big ripe - ideally seedless olives and just use a good quality olive oil and sea salt. Everything else was fine. Service amazing as usual.

Unequivocally the heartiest plates of food in Cheshire that will run a fierce riot of an explosion of taste buds. You will not find better pasta anywhere. Guaranteed. You will also never in the whole universe and galaxy and everything in-between find a better bruschetta either. Visit this place, eat the pasta and devour the bruschetta. I came here for a date, booked in advance & gave our card details so we couldn’t cancel. When we arrived we were twice almost placed on the ends of tables with other people on them… fortunately one couple left just as we arrived and so we had a table to ourselves. More customers arrived and were offered the empty seats on our table! I saw another couples meal interrupted by a group of three being squeezed on their table. Booking ahead I would have first expected a table to be reserved for us, and further, to at least be asked whether we mind people being placed on our table. It would seriously have ruined my experience here and it partially did, for worrying about random people sharing my conversation and table. It has put me off coming here again. The food was brilliant, however.

The food was brilliant, the seating was not. Although giving a 3 stars on service the service for food & drinks was perfectly up to standard. However we began the night as they tried to sit us on a table with another couple, this IS NOT what you expect when booking a table at ANY restaurant. We watched another couple bombarded halfway through their meal with a set of 3 new guests added to their date night, seemingly without previously asking if they’d be comfortable with this. Whilst we (me and my girlfriend) were lucky enough to maintain our own table, we were constantly worried every time new guests turned up that they’d be plonked on our table, like they’d originally planned with us despite booking far in advance. This is so wrong and could easily ruin a couple’s plans, seating needs to be seriously revised. All props to the chefs and staff who were clearly working hard to deliver a good night for their customers. But if you’re expecting an intimate date, I seriously would recommend considering elsewhere unless they make changes.

I had an incredible dining experience at this Italian restaurant! The pasta dishes exceeded all my expectations and left me completely satisfied. To start, we indulged in the pork belly ribs, which were exceptionally tender and melt-in-your-mouth. The flavor was perfectly stimulating my appetite. Among the various pasta options, the paccheri 'all'Amatriciana stood out as an absolute favorite. The cured pork cheek complemented the dish perfectly, adding a delicious and savory element to the already tantalizing flavors. The staff at the restaurant were not only friendly but also very polite, enhancing the overall dining experience. We were so impressed by the quality of the food and service that we have already decided to return, specifically to enjoy the paccheri dish once again.

The food was excellent. The only downside was that despite having booked a table for two well in advance, we were put on a small table with another group of people. We visited here on a Saturday afternoon, it was a busy but not overly, we had prebooked the table and on arrival shown our table and all was good, however we was about to receive our main meal when another couple joined our table and the staff said 'Oh its a sharing table' and apparently this happens at other venues so beware if you are looking for a quiet meal out as other people will be joining you! There was other tables available too!! We even saw another couple looked as shocked as us when they had to join a table of 4. Noone had mentioned this, it wasnt on the website (that i saw) or on our booking. It should have been advised straight away!! Highly disappointed!! Food was amazing but due to this we wouldnt return!! Seemed like a bit of a cash thing, ie: Get as many bookings in as you can!! Oh and they add on the tip, when asked to remove they question why!!! sud was on my list for months! i finally made a reservation this week, and was mind blown. although i was a bit skeptical of the concept of communal dining, i was seated next to a lovely couple who i spoke to for about 10 minutes. the server, beatrice, was a darling who only amplified the experience. she helped me pick a wine to go with my pasta- the paccheri with smoky cruschi peppers. the pasta was phenomenal. it was al dente, and smothered in chilli peppers, parmesan, pangrattato (which i learnt was a replacement for parmesan by the poor in southern italy) and garlic. the wine was not exactly what i had in mind, but it was a fine pairing nonetheless. the highlight of my meal though, was the limoncello which was served in a frosted glass! served traditionally, it made me happy to see that the restaurant lives up to its standards of being an authentic eatery. i ended with the caramel tart. the marsala gave it a warmth and subtle fragrance, and the crème fraiche cut through the sweetness of the caramel. a single grievance of mine would be the tart shell. the pastry was a bit too thin was not flaky or buttery. overall, SUD is a restaurant that is worthy of the recognition and love it receives.

The thing I would mark them down on I was disappointed at sharing a table with another couple! Having finally got rid of the small people for a friday night, we managed to get an early table at a place we had been meaning to try ever since they opened up! being Altrincham residents for many many years, having our ears bashed about how great this place was (and having done many a Hardens Guide review, having read about its success), we bit the bullet. managing to get the Bench seats near the window, we had great chatty staff who were genuinely interested in talking to us, super smells coming from the kitchen and a really good "busy" vibe. Managing to people watch all the Alty Market crowd across the way hoovering their Aperol Spritz, we ordered lamb meatballs and the fava bean and greens bruschetta to start. Both were brilliant, looking back we could have ordered them again just for the pea broth that came with meatballs and the way all the flavours of the bruschetta just oozed into the sourdough... by this time i had had a refreshing beer and my wife was happy with her non alco beer, but there was no way I was passing up having a jug of red wine with my house sugo pasta. we both ordered this and on reflection dare i say we could have shared one! The plates of perfectly cooked pasta, the slow cooked 8 hr ragu of beef shin and pork shoulder (the best way to cook these meats) with an extra side of sourdough with garlic and rosemary butter (Don’t you dare just call it garlic bread, the difference is night and day), was that unctuous and satisfying we didn't talk to each other for about 15minutes... it was that good. By comparison, yesterday I went to a fine dining place in manchester and spent three times the amount and enjoyed myself half as much... you do the maths. Forza Sud!

I’d wanted to visit the restaurant for a while so decided to book online 2 days prior. There was hardly any availability so make sure you do book in advance. The website said only the outside covered and heated area was available. I was really sceptical of the only available part of the venue but decided to give it a go. It was well-heated, well-lit and comfortable so if visiting again I would happily sit there if the inside wasn’t available. The waitresses were all really helpful and knowledgeable about the menu. The service was fairly quick but didn’t make us feel like we were rushing our food which we appreciated. In terms of cost we paid £78 for: 2 starters 2 mains An extra piece of bread (steep at £1.50!!) Olives (again, steep at £4!!) Garlic bread A medium bottle of sparkling water 1 beer 1 medium glass of wine We thought this was quite reasonable in general considering as the portion sizes, particularly the mains, were generous. We would recommend the burrata, garlic bread and pasta. It was tasty, of excellent quality and the ingredients were carefully considered. The only reason for which I haven’t given 5/5 is that I wouldn’t rush back. I would only go back if the menu changed as due to the nature of the restaurant, the menu is very limited but this is how the place operates. Also, we spent a lot of time in Italy last year mainly Bologna and Sicily and despite not being from the same region as the dishes from the pasta kitchen, the food we had abroad was so much better in terms of taste.

Excellent food but service was sub-par. Felt rushed to eat our meal quickly when we still had wine on the table.

So the food was great, yes it is expensive but that’s a choice thing, excellent bruschetta starter, pasta main was great. The non alcoholic drinks were heavily overpriced for the size you get. The bill, it is very arrogant about how the 10% added on...

We have wanted to go for so long but it was worth the wait! The starters were great as was the nemesis cake but the main course house sugo was incredible, I would have preferred it a touch less spicy for my taste but I...

We’ve been to Sugo a few times and it hasn’t failed to deliver. The pasta is unbelievable (the chicken stock, anchovy and broccoli one was a particular highlight), the service is friendly and there is wine for all budgets/occasions (house jugs or expensive bottles). The...

We're not old but the wooden benches are hard on the bum cheeks. Fortunately the food is fantastic although not cheap. Great wines available. Lovely friendly staff

So glad that I have found a place where the food not only lives up to what you see on Instagram but surpasses it! The food is fresh, flavoursome and fabulous! Special credit to the meatballs. They are DIVINE, literally the best combination of flavours I've had in a while. Staff are nice too and as a solo diner, I was very comfortable. Will definitely eat there again.

Obviously the House Sugo was amazing. Such depth of flavour! But the thing I can't stop thinking about is the anchovy aioli that accompanied the calamari. That stuff was just stunning. I will return just for the aioli.

Apparently couldn't give us a table because it might get busy? There were a lot of empty tables that were not reserved so this made no sense. Never had that before so I found it very odd and off putting and just left. Very Unwelcoming and it felt like it was by design so will not recommend this place. Disgusted.

Really amazing and authentic Moroccan food! The owners seem lovely too. We had the Lamb with Prune and Chicken with Apricots and it was divine. Would be great if it was BYOB ;)

Staying in Manchester for the night and we decided to find somewhere near but didn't fancy the centre. Gorgeous decor, really lovely staff and the food was amazing. I had a fillet that was cooked perfectly and my partner really enjoyed his carbonara. Unfortunately it was let slip that it was my birthday and they sang the song and gave me a complimentary scoop of vanilla with a candle but it was a lovely touch to the end of the meal. Thank you so much.
