New Pavilion Bar & Restaurant in Maldon

Absolutely love New Pavilion. Can't wait to be able to dine in again with my friends. Actually sent them a Christmas Card saying. Thank You "To the Best Restaurant in Essex". Or words to that effect. The owner is absolutely charming. Great food and the best Fish and Chips. Edited 26th March 2024 Has this restaurant changed hands? I booked a table on line for my friend and myself which I had confirmation that it had been done, then the day before confirmation again that we were still going etc. When we got there the whole place was wrecked and a sign said "closed for refurbishment", We were furious and won't be going there again when it reopens. I can't see the owner, whom we knew really well, all the times we've been before, letting this happen.

Awful. Meat was terrible all offcuts on the plate. Cheap produce . So expensive utter waste

A few errors marred my experience here. Chose Cod wrapped in parma ham from the Christmas menu, told 3 different members of staff and was still served with fish and chips! So another meal was cooked while the rest of my party ate their mains. And when it arrived it wasn't parma ham but fatty bacon. There was no cranberry sauce to offer the people who chose turkey and one diner was given a teaspoon for dessert as all dessertspoons had gone. Given that we were a party of 15 who had all booked and preordered food at least one week before I think we should have had much better service. I left feeling very disappointed and won't be returning

The roast dinner at the Pavilion Restaurant was like a taste of home, bringing back cozy memories. The roast itself was juicy and flavorful, and those roasted veggies were spot on. The atmosphere felt welcoming, like a family gathering, and the friendly staff added to the great experience. Can't wait to go back for more of that comforting, home-cooked goodness!

IThus was my second visit since it changed hands. Both tines very enjoyable. Great flavours and lots of it. Service impeccable

Had our works Xmas lunch today . Great food , nice and hot , and the service was spot on . Will be booking for next year .

Delicious meal great atmosphere and very friendly staff. Any small blips were quickly resolved with a smile nothing was too much trouble

Will not be going again had to wait far to long for service even when we went to pay couldn't find anyone to pay 1 person canot run a restaurant

Service was very poor had to wait 1 hour for food. Continuing chasing Management not interested got a very low key sorry when we left. Fish was great but would advise NOT choosing a roast past 5pm as it clearly had been sitting on a hot plate causing the veg to be overcooked and potatoes like bullets. Will NOT be returning ☹️

Very disappointed with the sunday roast here its the worst i have ever had. The lamb was very under and the roast potatoes were rock hard couldnt even cut them. We waited over an hour for our meal we asked several times how long it would be only to be told 1 minute (what a joke). Manager didnt really want to know. Customer service was non existent will never go back

Visited the restaurant on a Saturday night because it was our anniversary. There was only one waitress to serving the tables, she looked totally miserable and not enjoying her job, Even though there was only five tables to serve. The guy behind the bar didn’t really come out and help her so waited a long time for our food. The salmon was very dry and the potatoes were not even browned off. I had linguine with chicken and bacon which was just ok. I had to ask twice for a spoon because I had pasta and she said she forgot, this meant my food was getting cold. The cheesecake tasted like it was shop brought and wasn’t nice so I didn’t even finish it. There was another guy in there, who wasn’t happy and threw his money at the barman and stormed out. I wouldn’t go back again as don’t think it was good value for money and the service was rubbish. These days you have to give excellent customer services because this is why so many of the small businesses go under. I eat out a lot and have been to some lovely restaurants, just disappointed as it was my anniversary and it was recommended to me that’s why we went.

A 45 minute wait for starters and then another 60 minute wait for mains was very poor , with absolutely no communication front of house . To be fair the couple dining next to us said it was rare for this to happen as they had eaten there on quite a few occasions. Clearly we were unlucky , but when you make it an occasion and have a cab booked with plenty of time to spare , and then have to re book the cab , and by then you start going past the point of being hungry , it spoiled the evening . On that basis I would not recommend

Very nice food we didnt have wait that long very clean pub and very friendly would recommend anyone to go there.

Not at all what we were expecting when we walked through the door. Thought it would be the traditional pub it looked like from the outside, but it was very smart and modern on the inside and had a more restauranty feel. Lovely new outside area which was dog friendly. We had tapas for lunch, really good value and excellent quality. I would definitely recommend the sardines, they were delicious. Thank you

Have been here a few times now and I'm never disappointed. The food is excellent and the Sunday roast you cannot fault. The staff are lovely and friendly a very comfortable place to be to enjoy a meal with friends and family

Very good Sunday roast well priced

I had a Christmas lunch, it was a substantial amount of food, I had two courses, unfortunately the roast potatoes were over crispy and the Yorkshire puddings were over cooked. Staff were helpful.

Food and drink were a little on the dear side but well worth it, really don't mind paying for good food and this was great, service was quick, professional and friendly, first time there will definitely be going back, a big thumbs up 👍

Surprisingly brilliant food, did not expect such high quality Lamb was super tender and soft, new potatoes were creamy with a crunchy outer layer, chips were perfectly cooked, and the linguine had an amazingly rich sauce that I had to use the chips to mop up with

Definately not to be missed a most inviting place for a meal. Food SUPERB freshly cooked and taste DEVINE. Staff most friendly and helpful. My number one place for future meals. Thank you for a wonderful lunch today Also easy parking.

Great food , managed to fit us in although we hadn't booked. Everyone pleasant and friendly. Kids cod was a very good mini adult meal.

Went on Saturday night for our Anniversary food and cocktails were amazing ,friendly staff ,would definitely recommend.Such a shame it was empty would hate to think we could lose this restaurant through lack of people not going here.

A pleasant meal before a wedding day with around twenty other diners. They were simply fantastic, and everyone enjoyed there time here

Thanks for a lovely meal. The quality, taste and texture of the food was the best we have had in about 10 years Although they do not have an allergen list. Just ask the staff and they are very happy to help. Although most of the soft drinks are not chilled, they are in glass bottles and served with ice. Overall very appealing and enjoyable. Disabled access is limited but the staff are happy to help. We will definitely be visiting again.

Brilliant, food was excellent and so was the service.

We decided to have a meal at the New Pavilion and walked there. We were greeted and offered outside seating as it was a warm evening. The service and meal was outstanding and we had an "of the cuff" great time. Just one of those let's do it now restaurant experience. Highly recommended.

Booking a table was extremely easy. The staff were very understanding And met out every need. The dishes were really nice. The prices are expensive however it is worth the price. Would definitely recommend to people and will most likely visit again.

Great food and service at a reasonable price. Moule, followed by lamb rump, what's not to like. Will be back.

I went here for a funeral wake . The building a bigger than it looks and its pleasant inside. The staff were very friendly and helpful . The food served was very good and I would like to try it again under different circumstances . The only thing that surprised me was the price of the drinks which I felt were a little expensive. £7 .50 for a can of Guinness and a small lemonade. I don't know if this is average prices and I'm out of touch .

Excellent food and very good service.

We both had swordfish and that was the most excellent choice. It came in a Mediterranean salsa topping and on a bed of grilled pepper and aubergine. The flavour was rich and divine.

Very nice decor. Very clean. Stopped here for lunch with friends. Food was good although found it a little on the expensive side for just a lunch. 2 had ham egg and chips. Were disappointed with the ham. Was expecting ham carved off the bone but got the sort of ham that comes pre packed in supermarkets.

Went here for the first time last night, with a friend. I had specials, including fresh fig and goats cheese with a rocket salad and very crispy bacon(?), delicious. Then fishcakes served with poached egg and a really tasty tangy sauce. Food was lovely, service was great. Couldn't eat the second poached egg, was very filling and generous portions. Wine by the glass was nice too. Will definitely be going back soon.

Just passing through and found it on maps. Not disappointed at all, the owners are brothers, chef and front of house. The food was amazing, really lovely. King prawns, lamb, fish n chips washed down with couple of cosmos and a beer. It's the kind of place you'd recommend and come back to and the other diners were really friendly too, telling us the local spots to visit for a great day out.

Had a lovely evening outside on the decking. Friendly people , lovely food relaxed vibe . Regardless of the reduced menu for the time being it went down well .Should be support and visited.

Love this place, picked up our take away roast dinner. Easy to order over the phone and then safe collection. This was for my family of 4 and my in laws. Food amazing, good portion size. Completely full. Would highly recommend. Probably helps my daughter works here!!!

One word...Delicious!!! myself and my friend where staying in the near by travelogde in maldon. And we booked a table. The staff where so lovely and friendly and the food was absolutely amazing! all homemade and so fresh and super tasty. We enjoyed every mouth full. The wine was also delicious and great quality. Can't recommend this restaurant enough.
