Fox & Hounds in Maldon

Not had a Sunday dinner here for a long time. We were both disappointed roast potatoes looked and felt like they had been keep warm all day (hard) Yorkshire was rock hard around the edges, veg tasted frozen, watery no real flavour, never had a disappointing meal here before so hopefully just a one off

Had a lovely meal a table of 10 for my birthday food service 10 out of 10

1st time there last night fantastic place and really friendly atmosphere and landlord and staff so friendly and welcoming, the food wow best fish and chips iv had, big portions and the treacle sponge omg, so good we booked Sunday dinner, cant beat village pubs and home cooked fresh food, 2nd Sunday dinner not as good,

We came in for lunch. It's a nice pub clean and presentable. The menu is what you'd expect from a pub, and the delivery time of the food was sufficient and well presented. The fish and chips and ham egg and chips were plentiful and really tasty. The child's chicken strips and chips were good, too. The staff was nice enough, maybe not as engaging or as smiley as you'd like, but she was on her own and a bit tiered. The bar area wasn't that big, but the garden and dining area was a decent size. Parking was a bit tight when it got busy but free. It's a good pub for the locals 👍 Prices very reasonable too.

Popped in to the F&H on a whim as have passed it so many times but never stopped. Great pint of beer in a cosy setting with nice staff. Good darts board too.

We have been here so many times and never get fed up with it! Food is absolutely delicious with loads of options. Lovely staff and atmosphere, can't fault it. Chef even let us sample his new chocolate biscoff dessert on Sunday - oh my word what a treat, can't wait until it's permanently on the menu. Highly recommend for grub or just a beer in the garden.

Had a break in this pub at DofE, person at the bar was nice and helped us. Had a lovely time there before we had to continue on the expedition.

Great Meal, friendly staff and great Experience.

Went on a Thursday evening,had a table for 3. Food was lovely, fish and chips, rack of ribs X2. Plus a dessert. Chips were big and chunky, cod tender and moist with crispy batter, ribs succulent and tasty. . Thoroughly enjoyed it. A good down to earth menu, friendly hosts, nice ales. We hope to be going again soon. Thank you.

After knowing previous owners and knowing how well it was run I am disappointed in many things, food service is shocking, took ages for food to come out with no feed back from staff. Drinks were awful maybe you need to get a proper cellar man in to clean your pipes and taps. Won't be going back or recommending

Excellent food and very good value. The beef and stilton pie was delicious with perfect vegetables. A cut above the average pub food. Service is fast, accomodating and friendly. Looklng forward to their Christmas menu.

Great service very friendly staff

Met some friends for lunch at The Fox and Hounds, our first visit to this pub. We were made very welcome. The food was served piping hot and was delicious. The price was very reasonable, service was excellent and l have no hesitation in recommending a visit to sample their food and hospitality. We will definitely be making another visit very soon.

It looked lovely, especially the courtyard. Nice and clean. I was there for a wedding reception. Starter was poor but lamb was very good. But I don't drink tea or coffee and when I asked to swap it for hot chocolate they charged me £3.20 as it wasn't an option for this package. Never has this ever happened before and when I mentioned it the staff they were indifferent I asked to see the manager and she didn't bother to come & see me, yes it has bugged me!

Delightful small pub, in small village. Worth the drive.

Nice food, atmosphere and bar lady. Still cooked lunch for us 10 mins before the kit hen closed. Refreshing change to find a more traditional pub restaurant hidden away. Shame this nice venue had no oat milk though 😕 being a veggie eating out can be tough in more traditional eateries!

We booked this pub for a big family lunch and celebration of my dad's life. There were 24 of us and we had a great time. The place is really lovely just how I'd imagine a local village pub to be, with excellent service. A great local pub, the staff were great. My compliments to the chef, the food was very good and everyone really liked it. My chick pea burger was very tasty and best bit was the syrup sponge. I highly recommend this pub

It was our first visit here and definitely won't be the last. The staff are friendly and helpful. The menu offers a variety of food with reasonable prices. They have a nice sized beer garden where we sat with our dog. It's nice to find a dog friendly pub.

Visited here for Sunday lunch as part of a group of ten. Had three courses off the set menu. One of the best Sunday lunches I have had for some time. The price was very reasonable. I would highly recommend this pub.

Nice local pub, obviously popular with the locals, fair prices on the drinks. Had Sunday lunch it was ok just regular roast didn’t expect restaurant quality. Just what a pub should be, no frills, just a pleasant social place.
