Q'Ero Restaurant

Pontprennau/Old St. Mellons, Cardiff
14/03/2019: Our party of 4 ate here last night for the first time and Q'ero is a standout. All the dishes we had we so flavourful with spices used in such a clever way. I'm new to Peruvian food and am now a big fan. Service never missed a beat so our dining experience couldn't be improved on. Its got a relaxed fun vibe so i highly recommend dining here and as the place was full i can see i'm not alone.
09/02/2019: A cute and quaint restaurant with delicious Peruvian dishes. The seafood ceviche, plantain & Yukon potato, chicken empanada, shrinks skewers we’re so delicious.

Fox & Hounds

Pontprennau/Old St. Mellons, Cardiff
18/03/2019: Called in the Fox and Hounds for a quiet drink with my wife and granddaughter and found it very pleasant. There were quite a few people there and the menu looked very good and at a reasonable price.
17/03/2019: Lovely family pub with a good food menu. Always a few people in which shows how popular it is. Just wished they had a few more options of Brains beers available being a Brains brewery pub. Staff were also excellent.

Toby Cavery - Cardiff Gate

Pontprennau/Old St. Mellons, Cardiff, <20£
17/03/2019: Visited on a busy Sunday afternoon lots of hot vegetables to choose from very pleasant carver and waitress who prepared our table very professional. I will use again and recommend to friends.
14/03/2019: Visited the venue for a desert only as we had eaten elsewhere. I am a big fan of toby carvery on Sundays usually after a night out on the town, perfect hangover cure! however one occassion we stop to visit for a desert and drink only, to then receive a photo of my registration entering but a blank photo of my apparent registration leaving and a fine of £145!!!! This is disgusting! If I had known at this particular venue you had to pay and display then I would of found the couple of coins to do so rather than wait to then get a HUGE fine for dining at a pub!!! Ever since I have avoided the place like the plague, I wont even go to any other venue now.

Heron Marsh

Pontprennau/Old St. Mellons, Cardiff
19/03/2019: Came on the spur of the moment at about 18:30 for a carvery; our second visit for food since the rebrand. Already the old Heron Marsh standard of cleanliness and maintenance is creeping in sadly and it’s a little disappointing that the joints of meat which they put up at lunch have to last until closing without replacing so the turkey was dry and all that was left of the beef was the end (which I managed to cadge along with my turkey and gammon). Still great value and what we ate tasted good and the staff were friendly if a bit thin on the ground so it took a wait for service at both the bar and carvery. Despite the slight drop in standards form last time we still had a good meal in walking distance from our house.
11/03/2019: I visited with my family for the Sunday carvery. The food was lovely and good value for money. Staff were all very helpful. Asked for gluten free gravy for myself and my daughter and they had it all sorted in no time. Looking forward to them expanding their gluten free range of food.

11/03/2019: First time in this place and I must say the food was lovely and very efficient. I got to say that the guy 'Pash' who served me through my entire visit was so friendly and well mannered. Made my experience in the village very positive and I will definitely be back!

Unicorn Inn

Pontprennau/Old St. Mellons, Cardiff
04/10/2017: Really disappointed with the food. Worst Sunday lunch I have had in a long time. Wouldn't go back again sorry. Shame Pub could be a little goldmine.
02/10/2017: Visited on Sunday for roast the building gives this proper pub vibe until you go inside this place needs alot of tlc and it would be lovely but that money a lot of pubs don't have spare.

The Star Inn

Pontprennau/Old St. Mellons, Cardiff
26/03/2016: After our nice experience in 2014 my wife and I thought we would repeat it. I rang The Star to check what times they did food - and was told that they had stopped providing food since Christmas. What a shame.
04/10/2015: Food is amazing the best sunday lunch ever, had beef and the lamb - delicious. Compliments to the Chef !
