Good Pub food and very friendly and efficient service . Will visit again

The food was OK and I would return should I be in the area again but I won't come out of my way to visit though!

We have visited several times since moving to the area and the food and service are always excellent. It is great value for money, too.

Nice pub with great choices on the menu and there are always some special offers available. Staff are polite and helpful. My husband and I visit regularly

Really can't fault you. Dad is an 89 year old wheelchair user and you and your staff were so accommodating and helpful throughout the entire visit. Perfectly cooked food and lovely and hot. Excellent quality and value for money. Will be popping in regularly as now able to get dad out of his (very lovely local care home) following covid-19 relaxation of rules. Thank you so much to all your staff for making our meal out so enjoyable and relaxing. See you soon!

Very disappointing! Whilst the two members of staff were fab and doing their best, the quality of the food was shocking. My partner couldn't eat his chicken burger and my dirty fries were cold. 2 of our party were happy and ate it all, the other two certainly weren't. We saw a number of meals sent back whilst we were there and after waiting 45 minutes for or food did want to have to wait any longer for something to eat so didn't bother complaining. Being a sizzler we know what to expect and love our local, but we will definitely not be returning to the Village Inn.

Katie looks after me and my colleagues on a Sunday and my wife and her friends on a Monday. Nothing is too much trouble for Katie who makes us glad to visit this wonderful establishment.

Friendly staff, great food good prices

Food was good, but I had to ask to have our table cleaned, despite 4 people standing around the bar area doing nothing. Another table still had not been cleaned/cleared in all the time we were there.

I liked it there but it's not the best sizzler I've been to. If it's local give it a try but if another sizzler is just 5 mins extra traveling distance away then I suggest you visit that one instead.

Food was very lovely can really recommend the gyros. Atmosphere was lovely too and all staff were very welcoming.

I visited The Village Inn, and it was fantastic! The seasonal decorations immediately set a cozy, welcoming atmosphere perfect for the fall. The ambiance is mature yet comfortable, making it an ideal spot for a relaxed day or evening. Our server, Ellie, was exceptional. She was attentive, friendly, and ensured everything was just right. Her service definitely enhanced the overall pleasant vibe. The food was delicious and well-prepared, with a good variety on the menu. Everything from the starters to the desserts was spot-on. I highly recommend this pub for anyone looking for a laid-back, classy pub experience. I’ll definitely be back!

Ni food being served at 6 clock on a Sunday

One of the party uses a walker. The pathway to the front door is not suitable for people with limited mobility. Please either fix the path, or provide an alternate entrance. Service was great. Food was OK - average pub food.

Attentive staff, great atmosphere, lovely food

This is such a lovely place to come for lunch. Menu choice is good, service always fast but what gives this pub my five star rating is the wonderful staff! The staff are always friendly, helpful and offer great customer service. Olivia in particular is always amazing, can't do enough for her customers. Give this lady a pay rise!

Had the most amazing food here for the first time, Tom cooked my food and it was unbelievable, usually I'm not sure what "chefs" they have in there, if u can call them that

Staff were lovely, however the food was overcooked (black, chewy burger pattys), the wrong burger was made, and it was all on the cool side (chips were barely over room temperature). It took 40 mins to arrive, by which point we were hungry and needed to get on with our trip, so didn't have time to wait for any replacement meals. Generally disappointing.

Food was served already cold , long wait, 8 minutes waiting for 2 slice of toast, one proper burned and other okay ( eatable) coffe served in dirty cup with a big chip and hygiene standards very low on this place.

Called in for coffee and wifi, but decided to have lunch when I saw someone being served a meal. I chose Steak and chicken combo woth chips, which was delicious, and didn't have to wait long! Ellie checked in to see how my meal was, I had no complaints, it was lovely.

Have to say what an experience from start to finish. We were meet by a lovely member staff called Olivia who couldn’t help us enough, explained the menu and gave great recommendations. We will return

It is bank holiday weekend. All the staff are running about working hard. All have a smile and are friendly. Can not recommend them enough. We will definitely be back. The food was amazing. Thank you so much we are on holiday for a family get together but will be back. 5 stars all round. The manager liv was absolutely brilliant. Managing her staff and working just as hard as everyone else. We asked for the managers name for the review.

We have been to this pub multiple times and it’s Such a beautiful family pub, lovely large garden for the kids to play, very clean with friendly staff aswell as amazing 5* food 🤤 the manager was very hands on and is part of the staff rather then just sat there like many pubs I have been too I would definitely recommend ❤️

Had to wait to be served as nobody was servicing .we then ordered breakfast when somebody finally appeared We ordered 2 big breakfast it came to the table cold ,eggs where raw on the top not cooked properly a tea spoon of beans.tables where sticky ,floors dirty will not be recommending anybody to this establishment.not happy at all.

The Village Inn Cardiff, I couldnt recommend it enough! The staff are incredibly friendly and helpful, always going above and beyond. The food is fantastic, especially the sirloin steak which i prefer not on a sizzler out of preference, which is always cooked to perfection. The breakfast there is simply unreal, especially the hashbrown bites. Its the perfect way to start your day. Also the events hosted at the Village Inn are always amazing, bringing a lively and enjoyable atmosphere which is perfect for adult and kids. The Saturday night discos with karaoke are always a blast, and the live band Zion Road, that often visits brings a great vibe to the pub. If your looking for great food or a friendly atmosphere for drinks, I 100% recommend the Village Inn its defiantly worth it.

Visited this pub Sunday 7th July. Was impressed with the service here. We were sat outside having a drink after walking our dog Leo. A lady called Liv came out and made a big fuss of our dog and went and got him a bowl of water. She came back out a few times and made a fuss of him and had a chat with us. Lovely friendly staff here. Will definitely return.

Always great food & atmosphere! The best local!

Had a lovely meal here tonight with my wife the tandoori skewers were really nice and the beef ribs delicious would highly recommend. Bar staff and Livvy in particular are great.

Visited yesterday (6th June) and was served by a lovely young lady called Faith, she was very polite and always had a smile on her face. Will be back again 💕

Absolutely appalling service, we arrived as a party of 8 at 6.30, had a booking, sat down and ordered our food and drinks. food arrived just short of 2 hours later. everything was stone cold, chips were rock solid, meat was dry. it was like eating plasterboard. staff were very unfriendly and did not seem bothered about our long wait. we had an 8 year old in our party, im sure you can imagine waiting 2 hours for food with a starving 8 year old. Will not be returning.

Absolutely shocking. Tables and carpets dirty and plates left. Food finally arrived after waiting over an hour and was over cooked and disgusting. Staff swearing and shouting. Not a family restaurant at all. Would appreciate a full refund.

Not much was great and the time you waited for food could be improved. 45 minutes and had then to send it back!

Only popped in for a drink, the service was great and the bar staff were fab.

Food is ok cheap and cheerful. Service has gone downhill recently. Went for food, tables not cleaned still had the previous people's dirty dishes on, food took ages to arrive after ordering. And plates were not taken away when we had finished, still on the table when we left.

Unless you are a local and know everyone who drinks here, do not go here for a meal... Especially on a Cardiff City match day. We enjoy trying new places to eat out, whether it's a pub or a fancy restaurant, or even a decent takeaway. We had never tried The Village Inn, and living only a few miles away we thought we would give it a try. First off, it's not a great sign when you arrive for food, it's only 6:45pm, and there's already security staff on the door. Never been anywhere for food that has security. As soon as we walked in, we quickly realised that we were the only non-locals in there, and the looks and glares from people made us realise straight away that we weren't welcome... But ya know, I ain't easily intimidated and neither were my friends, so we continued and got seated at a table. Immediately, the locals sat at the next table made us feel unwelcome, staring us out, leaning back on their chairs, bumping the table, talking about us at the top of their voices... Pathetic. But it was bad enough that my wife was ready to start a fight! Anyway, we ordered our food at the bar, locals cutting in ahead of us to order their drinks as if they had more right to be served before us...and then we sat back down, taking in the frosty atmosphere while we waited for our food, which wasn't too long to come out and in all fairness was pretty decent for the prices. Everything was good quality and prepared well. My wife's steak was perfect, and the gammon was really nice... No issues at all! But all the time we were getting stared at, talked about, bumped... And people were being sick around the other side of the bar, heated arguments kicked off, with senior staff joining in and trying to calm things down... But it never really got much better. After finishing our mains, I went up to the bar to order desserts, but that was a struggle because a few worse for wear locals refused to move while I ordered, then refused to move when I tried to tap my card on the reader... So I just leant over them to pay. They didn't like that, but it was tough because I had no choice. And then came the wait for the desserts... Considering we were 4 of maybe 10 people that were eating, the kitchen wasn't exactly busy, but they still forgot to do our desserts, so after 40 minutes we asked where they were and 10 minutes later they were brought out. Again, nice enough desserts, no complaints. By the time we finished, it was getting a bit more lively in there, too lively for the karaoke by the looks of it... They brought in the equipment to set it up, but left with the equipment about 15 minutes later, at which time the kitchen staff were back and forth with jugs of water to clean up the puke that was all over the floor around the other side of the bar. To sum up the evening, staff were friendly and food was good...even if they forgot about our desserts, and I'm sure this place is fine when it's a bit quieter. But if Cardiff City are playing, or have played that day, then avoid. Me and my son are Cardiff City fans, but we are not local to The Village Inn, and this is a place (like many other places in Cardiff) where you don't feel welcome if the local fans don't recognise you. So unfortunately, we won't be going back there, and won't be recommending it either. Especially on a match day.

Great pub for food and also if you love your sports as they have a nice pit area with comfy seats and plenty of room. Can't fault the staff there they go above and beyond to make sure you have a positive experience. We will defo be coming back soon the GM Joey and his team are doing a fantastic job.

Absolutely awful service. I reserved a table for 5:45-7 but due to traffic’s we arrived at 6. Told our table had gone but told (quite bluntly and unprofessionally) that we could have a table but would have to vacant by 7:15 due to another booking. This was ok with us. Ordered food and drinks by 6:10 via table service app. At 6:35 I had to go and ask for our drinks as they had not been delivered. Bar lady arranged for this even though she had no idea what our order was. I also confirmed that they had received our order. Food arrived at 6:50 and how disappointed. I had chicken on a sizzling plate with chips. The peppers were burnt and didn’t taste fresh or even like peppers. Chicken was very thin and so much garlic on it that it made mouth burn and took away taste of the meal. Not a full bowl of chips. Then felt pressured to finish our meal regardless of the slow service. The restaurant was quiet so they can not blame being busy

As someone who suffers with anxiety. Pubs are not my favourite place. However this place is wonderful. The atmosphere is always amazing and welcoming . Bar staff are lovely , especially Liv who is always friendly and a very good laugh while always keeping it professional and well maintained !

Visited several times previously. On this occasion the food was very average, the service also average even poor. Don't visit this place when there's football on the TV, it's bedlam. You have been warned...
